Pumking Imperial Ale
Travis B.

Pumking Imperial Ale: Although I've become less of a beer guy since my college days, I couldn't resist the urge to pick this up. Even though I find them to be real hit or miss, I like to try at least one new pumpkin beer each fall and though it has been a few years, Southern Tier's Pumking is my reigning champ. The artwork on the bottle shows a cool illustration of a pumped-up pumpkin king cackling as he shows off his guns in a sleeveless royal garb with an eye-catching pumpkin orange colored background. My bottle poured a slightly hazy deep copper color. Pumking's aroma is described by Southern Tier as a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, allspice, vanilla, and buttery crust. As Southern Tier likes to say, it's essentially pumpkin pie in a glass! I wouldn't go that far, but in the land of pumpkin beers, it is good enough to be king in my opinion. I detect pumpkin the most in the aftertaste, but it's pleasant and not burning/too spicy. There's also a nice combination of vanilla and cinnamon that help contribute to the illusion of pumpkin pie. It's sweet (for a beer) and not overly bitter with an IBU of 28. Being an imperial ale, it's a bit BOOzy at 8.6%ABV, but the aforementioned flavors mask it well. Move over Jack Skellington, there's another Pumpkin King in town, Pumking is Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews

Best wings I have had in Buffalo. Really crispy and the sauce is really good. Cooked to perfection. The hype is real for Buffalo hot wings. Parking is not ideal. But the service is good and the waitress was very knowledgeable in all of the beers there and gave good recommendations.

Just stopped in for a beer on a recent evening. Bartender was friendly and offered samples to make our beer decision. Not easy to park near location, walked from parking lot near Marina. Bar area was mostly people drinking and watching baseball. Not noisy, easy to have conversations.

Is a quiet Friday evening in the city, the perfect time to visit Southern Tier? Yes! This place is always busy during bandits/sabres game so it was pretty nice going there when downtown was a little quiet. We were seated immediately and within moments our waitress was there to take our drink and food requests. She was extremely helpful and welcoming during our visit. The misses got the beef on weck, a good sized portion and I was told the beef was "ok" so I'm interpreting that as "average ". The horseradish though was definitely on the mild side but I'm sure that changes each day. The little yelper opted for her go to which was the kids chicken fingers and fries. She gave them two thumbs up, they were a good size and super crispy. I opted for the buf burger. It came and I was questioning how to bite it, but it only appeared that way because of the giant onion ring on it. I was told it's a "smash burger" and couldn't be cooked to temp / I prefer medium ( it was kind of dry for my liking). But definitely wasn't as spicy as I was hoping for based on the description. I can only put this in the average burger category for me. Good meal, attentive staff, but I think once was enough for us.

Cool place a block away from key bank center. We went here before a hockey game and it was packed. Place is huge with two levels and a bunch of TV's and a gigantic tv behind the bar. A good variety of different beers and drinks on the menu and also a lot of appetizers and food on their menu. Employees were all very friendly and the food and drinks were all really good. Gotta hit this place up if you're going to an event at the arena.

We came here for a Beers and Gears event for the Ride for Roswell. Lucky for us, it was also $1 wing night. We each had two beers and some delicious wings. I love that the wings came with fresh carrots and celery, and blue cheese. My beer choices were 8 Days a Week, and Raspberry Shine. Both were tasty and refreshing.

Beef on Weck

Beautiful sports bar on the first floor of the LECOM center. The food was okay. Beef on Weck was tough, chewy, and lacked salt flavor. French fries were good, cut from real potatoes. Ceasar salad was crisp, and the dressing was excellent. They only have sweet tea, no unsweetened. The Sprite was flat. The floors were very sticky. The place was very nice with all of the TV options. The service was friendly and fast.

Honestly, I'd give it 5 stars for the creme brulee stout alone. So yummy. My husband and I shared a flight last week before the Sabres win. I also tried the hazelnut stout, which was great, and Old Man Winter which wasn't bad but tasted like early fall to me. My husband was less happy with his apple and pomegranate ciders. He was very happy with his wings, however. They were perfect. I overdid it with carbs. The giant pretzel and loaded cheese fries were yummy, but the beer cheese wasn't my favorite. It was good, just not great. Service is excellent. We arrived before our reservation, but they were able to seat us right away. Definitely a place you want to make reservations for on game night, especially for groups. Great location. Hopefully the Irish cream stout is on tap next time we drop in.

2x IPA & pineapple cider

I wanted to give an update on our experience, we took Joe up on his offer and came back and had a much better experience! We ordered differently than we did the first visit. My wife loved her bowl, actually I was thinking of one myself and will definitely order one next time. The burger I got was great but with all the toppings the bun got a bit soggy, bread is tough when you have great toppings. Thank you Joe for reaching out and taking care of us, it's nice to see a place that has employees love their job! See you next time!

Cobb salad and Island tacos

What a great dining and drink experience before the Bandits clinched the 3peat! We only waited about 20 minutes for a table and got drinks at the bar while we waiting. I had a Bold Rock Hard pineapple cider, it was crisp and refreshing. Once seated and ordered we waited about 15-20 mins for the food. We ordered the cobb salad and island tacos, it was the perfect amount of food for two people, nothing too heavy. The waitress was wonderful and went above and beyond for us as our party forgot a jacket at the table. She placed it behind the hostess stand and we were able to retrieve it after the game. Atmosphere was awesome great place to be before a Bandits game.

Robert W.

I had the braised brisket tacos and buffalo wings. The brisket was room temperature almost cold. The flavor wasn't terrible. The wings on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give them a 2. This is a great atmosphere to come and have a drink, but the food was very disappointing. My waitress was Jessica K and she was fabulous. She helped me pick a beer and give me recommendations on the menu. Again, a beautiful brewery but the food needs a lot of help.

Attended a happy hour event at Southern Tier last week, and the cocktails were excellent! Brewery is conveniently located next to the waterfront and key Bank Arena.

great happy hour deals !! One for each day of the week!! I think Thursday's are $6 burgers and kind you these are FULL SIZE I swear they are losing money wth great solid burgers and service is always friendly. Family chill casual sports wholesome vibe but less sporty like other bars in buffalo or I wouldn't be here lol.

Well, they were on the list of Yelp Buffalo's top places to eat in 2025, so of course we had to give them a try. The space itself is really beautiful. Nestled alongside a river with a cabinesque vibe. Stone exterior, with wood floors, exposed brick, and large fermentation tanks on the interior. It's really quite cozy. As for food, our table shared one of their tasty dips - the elote one to be exact. Elote is delicious on its own, but in dip form with pickled red onions, fire! I could eat an entire bucket of this stuff. When it came to my main course I ordered what I call the basic girl dinner, a caesar salad and fries... but here I went with the tater tots because I was told they are heavenly. My salad was a good portion size and exactly what you want when you order a caesar. As for the tots, the amount you get is insane and they were in fact, fried to a crispy perfection. They definitely hit the spot. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal and I can see why Yelpers in Buffalo rate this spot so high. If I lived nearby I would definitely be a frequent flyer.

Note: if you like sours try the Cherry Cobbler sour it is over the top tasty! Also had the Cran Orange Ale which I could have drink a second one of easily too. Now on to the food... I am from Texas, and am a bit picky over BBQ, especially Brisket. Y'all there's nothing worse than a dry piece of smoked brisket... just sayin'. Anyway, I ordered a couple apps and the two meat plate with Chicken & Brisket, Beans, Slaw & the Mac Salad. Y'all, the brisket was moist tender and nicely marbled. I ate half of it before even opening the sauces! Same to be said for the Chicken, it was tender, with the perfect little hint of smoke, legit delicious! I highly recommend this spot when visiting the area... I will definitely be back my next time through.

I paired that with a tasty pile of sweet potato waffle fries and a side of honey for dipping them in. The fries were a perfect blend of crispy outside and soft inside, just a touch of salt, and the honey is genius (it's an extra $1 and well worth it). Several other beers on the menu look tempting too, and they make their own pizza dough! Another plus: the owners are friendly awesome people. I am very likely to return. The inside seating area is larger than it looks like from the outside, with plenty of seating at the bar and at tables, plus an outdoor patio. Restrooms are clearly marked and easy to access. There are several large TVs showing various sports games - no closed captions though. Music is nice, there was an upbeat jazz background while I was there. It's on the louder side but not too loud to have conversations. Our waitress was wonderful. I was debating between a couple items on the menu and opted for a salad. I ordered the Beet & Burrata salad ... um lol well if you would call it that. Two of us ordered this and we both were surprised when it came out to say the least. Basically a couple pieces of lettuce on top of chopped beets under a spicy-ish hollandaise type dressing over burrata. Or I'm assuming the dressing was what was a tad spicy. However I couldn't figure it out lol. There were a couple tiny smoked peach pieces on the side...just too smoky for my taste. Would have preferred just a fresh grilled peach. Also added a side of chicken to toss on my "salad" thinking it had a whole bed of lettuce, however could have avoided ordering that had I seen a picture of this salad beforehand - so I threw that in for you all in case you're on the fence of what to order. It was good if you like beets, but not really filling since the portion was pretty small. Loved the presentation though, gotta give them that. I also had the Oz-molitan... cosmo with blood orange ...delicious! If you like fruity drinks get it!! I tried my friends' fresh cut regular fries, the truffle fries, and also some of the pepperoni flatbread (I forget exactly what it was called, apologies) but all of those were to die for! The inside was super cute. It is on main street with the train track so there is basically no parking in the vicinity so it's a cold walk during winter. We ordered Kugel Latke for an appetizer. It was fine, it tasted like uncrisp tater tots. If there was a sauce of sorts to dip it in, it would have been better besides just potato. For mains we shared two half pizzas the Fig& Pig and the Pepperoni + Honey. They were both fine, they were half sized but still didn't seem like a lot. The person I was with thought it was too much fig, but I had no problem so that is preference. Though the pork belly was mainly fat. The people with us weren't fans of their food either. They also added Truffle fries and were told it would be extra which they agreed to, but it was an additional $9 not jut 2 or 3. For the service, we assumed it was all due to the massive party but it wasn't that great. We were right in front of the bartender and our water was refilled once the entire time we were there. We also didn't get silverware and when we asked for napkins we got a single paper one. We were also at the end of the bar which is where the severs would stand or get the food which was directly next to us which was a bit annoying due to the proximity, they were as close as sitting next to us at a table. No one checked on us either thoughtout our time. Overall, the food was fine, nothing amazing. I'm assuming they get a lot of Shea's traffic which is fine if you want a drink with a snack. I would not come here for an actual meal as it is a limited menu and you don't get a lot. The service wasn't great, but we're going with it was due to the large party. None of us will be returning. It was super cute with the lights though.

Seeing as I'm a Yelp-er, they wanted me to find a spot I hadn't been to yet, even though I had eaten dinner already on my own. I had The Ridge West Seneca saved in my "Places to Try" collection so I said let's go. Overall, I cannot wait to go back and grab a meal here and try the food for myself! We arrive just before 8pm on a Saturday night to a large gravel parking lot that was pretty busy, but we still found a spot pretty easily. We walked in and the hostess was able to seat the two of us at a booth right away! Inside it was very spacious with plenty of TVs going, a bar on one side, music playing overhead. Indoor noise was elevated (it's a restaurant that has a bar, it's going to not be quiet haha) but the two of us could carry on a conversation fairly normally. Our waitress came over immediately to let us know she'd be a few minutes as there were a few other tables she was handling. Fine by us as that allowed my buddy ample time to look over the menu and figure out what he wanted. I saw the St. Patrick's Day-themed cocktail specials menu so I knew what I was ordering. Our waitress though - Absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly friendly, had great personality, and was really accommodating in splitting the check (I took care of all our drinks, my friend took care of his dinner). Our waitress did a great job checking in on us at the perfect time, we never felt pressured, rushed. I didn't order any food but my friend ordered their Steakhouse Strip off the "Large Plates" section of the menu, and boy oh boy, did that look amazing! The 12-ounce strip was cooked to a picture-perfect medium-rare with plenty of tobacco onions on top and around the plate, and served over a generous bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus, served with a small cup of their A1 aioli. After seeing that, I certainly want to come back and order food. My friend really enjoyed their meal, the plate was clean! As for me, I ordered two St. Patrick's Day -themed cocktails: "Sham Rocked Shake" and "Irish Good Bye". The "Sham Rocked Shake" was vanilla vodka, crème de menthe, cream, and chocolate syrup and curls - This was creamy, delicious, not overly minty. The "Irish Good Bye" was Three Chord bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and lemon juice with a lime wedge - There was so much flavor in this cocktail, the lemon juice added a pleasant fruity 'punch'. Looking at the prices for these cocktails, I felt they were in-line with most other places and they were made well so no complaints from me. The Ridge West Seneca really surprised me! I've driven past it a few times and wondered how good it was. From our friendly waitress and service, the delicious cocktails, to the fantastic-looking food, I am impressed. I'm looking forward to coming back soon for another night of drinks and to try some food!
