We love Mortalis and have been fans since their Avon opening! We enjoy this location and the vibe inside. The workers are kind, it's clean, and great beer! A great spot with particularly options if your like fruited sours, IPAs, and stouts. Some of our favorite beer!

Friendly servers, clean place. Nice selections of beers on draft but a little heavy on IPA's, good thing I like them. Wish that they had a larger food selection.

Eleven IPA's on tap! Eleven, seriously? First time I visited I wasn't "as" impressed. We got a triple and a quadruple. Who's driving home??! They were both really, really good. Food menu not much to speak of, but it's a brewery not a restaurant. We'll eat somewhere else. Inside plenty of room to sit. Games and pinball and a beer cooler for to go pick up. Parking lot for a bunch of different places so parking might be tough. We got the last spot.

Large bar and lots of seating. Very friendly staff. My husband liked his beer choices and we shared a grilled cheese and hot pretzels. They were both very tasty. Street parking

My friends and I enjoy a good brewery and samplings. Unfortunately, we are just not fans of Mortalis. Both locations just don't hit the mark. The beers are ok, but the service in both locations are lacking. My husband and I have been to the Avon location and completely ignored when sitting at the bar. We wanted to give Buffalo a chance. I didn't want to influence our friends' opinion. Our friends commented on how the bartender was unfriendly and acted like he didn't want to pour beers. Maybe it's part of their brand? The decor and facility it cool, clean, and welcoming.

Stopped for a couple drinks. They have plenty of draft options and everything was delicious. We had a couple sours and IPAs. It was busy but not insane and the service was great!

Hands down the best craft beer in Buffalo if not the whole state of New York ! Having visited over 400 different breweries in 20 years I know good beer. Mortalis stouts are absolutely amazing in fact every beer we tried was close to a 4.5 out of 5 on Untapped beer app. in my opinion. Great place for craft beer enthusiasts.

We came here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon in July. One of the bartenders, Alden, was helpful and let us try some samples of the mead. She was kind, friendly and informative. The mead that we had was very good. Unfortunately, once Alden left the bar to stock the cooler, the other two bartenders ignored us, even though there weren't many other people sitting at the bar. We would have liked to stay since we enjoyed the mead, but decided to go elsewhere since it was difficult to get any service.

Sour, stout and IPA fans come here and come here fast. This new location has an impressive tap list and to go offering. The ambiance is casual, with TBS on the sound system and wedding crashers playing on the tvs. You're bound to have a great time coming here solo or meeting up with friends. They have some board games available and outlets under the bar if you need to charge your phone or you want to bring your laptop to the bar top. Parking is also easy to find. We live down in Erie but every time we're in Buffalo we make sure to come here. The chef and beer tenders are always friendly and easy to chat with. Alden's been here every time we swing by and without knowing us she's always made our experience a little extra special or more enjoyable. Thanks for everything mortalis crew!

    Two stouts (5oz pours)

Came here on a brew tour and was hoping to get a flight but they don't do the those, so I got two, half pours of two stouts. I normally enjoy stouts but theirs were way too rich for me. I also found it unusual that they serve their beers in stemless wine glasses. Their drink menu consisted of several stouts, sours, IPAs, and a page of meads. The atmosphere here is great though! It's spacious with lots of tables, but they could use more restrooms. They also have a food menu. My group shared loaded nachos and I appreciated that they layered the toppings so almost all the chips had toppings on them! Overall, I'd recommend for the atmosphere and a beer, but would caution about ordering a full glass of their stouts without trying it first.

Wanted to love this place, but the service fell short. My friend and I went for our first time and the bearded male bartender just kept awkwardly staring at us without saying anything but won't take our order. Finally he says coldly we have to order at the register by the middle of the bar. Which feels weird by the way if you're going to be sitting at the bar? Anyway, upon ordering we didn't realize initially they have multiple size pour options and the man taking our order is immediately angry we didn't specify instead of just asking us what size. The Beer wasn't worth that negative social interaction and we left shortly after.

We went here for lunch/ beer tasting close to noon. We sat at the bar and the guy working was super nice and super informative. We'd had their beer in cans at The Beer Keep so we knew a little about them. They don't do flights but you can get half pours which we liked, we split 4 half pours. Three sours and one IPA. Their sours are nicely fruited and delicious. My favorite was the fillings are mutual. Tasted like grape deliciousness haha. We also got the pretzels which were soft, warm and salty. They came with mustard and cheese sauce-very good. And split a Ruben sandwich it was good I did want a little more meat on it but all around pretty good. The pickles on the side were sooo good. Oh we also tried one of the meads too. They had at least 7 different meads on tap. Unique and cool to have other choices. We got a 2oz pour which was nice for the ability to try a few instead of just one big glass. Anyways highly recommend !

Had the strawberry rhubarb pie series sour. Wasn't too sour, had good fruit flavor. Plenty of seating.

Hubs and I came for dinner with four friends a couple weeks back and though it was a splurge, I have no regrets. Everything I had was delicious. We had: Focaccia Roasted Carrots Wagyu strip Rhubarb Panna Cotta Pineapple Pavlova I also had a Freakin' Beacon mocktail. Everything was SO GOOD. That focaccia was like no other focaccia I'd ever had but was delicious; crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. The steak (med rare) was perfect to me, hubs thought it was a tiny bit too rare for him. It was super tender and easy to eat, perfect char. I couldn't eat the chimmichurri it came with as it has Thai basil (not usual in chimmichurri, but I'm allergic, and the server was very good about asking about allergies) but honestly, it didn't need it. That steak stood on its own. Both desserts were delicious, but to my surprise I think the pavlova was even better than the panna cotta (and I love panna cotta). The portions were very generous and I was pretty stuffed by the time I got home. Our portion of the bill was over $200 (hubs also had some cocktails and the steak alone was almost $90) but it was so good, we'll want to come back when we're in town for sure.

Happened on this place by accident on a Sunday drive. It is a stunning place. Very pretty,…read moretastefully decorated. Looks like a family fun Brewery. They had a board game wall, 2 air Hockey tables. An area with local items for sale. Looks like they hold farmers markets, and events in the weekend. The place was very elegantly decorated, like it was professionally done. But for a 5 Generation family, I would have liked to have seen their Ancestors, history, maybe some family heirlooms as decorations, farm equipment, etc... They had an upstairs, not sure what that was about tho. When we walked in, we saw a sign that said seat yourself, so we did. Then we noticed we could order by Q card, so we did. No hostess. The menu was really small, small plates, appetizers, cookies and milk was the dessert. It was an odd menu. There were a fair amount of kids. Which was nice. It really is set up to be 100% Family First.. It was very large, lots of space for kids to play inside and outside, safely, while adults enjoy their time. Lots of space between tables. So still good for intimate settings too. Really well thought out space planning. I ordered Burnt ends with Mac N Cheese, in a Habanero jelly. It was the only spicy item on the menu. My BF ordered Chicken Fingers, because they didn't have a burger, hot dog, steak, i wondered if upstairs was where they served full meals instead of small plates. Worth checking on before you go. I didn't notice the upstairs until we had already ordered. The menu was lacking. I think it would have been nice if they had a hostess to greet newcomers, and explain the run down, and show them how it works. If there was an area for full dining we would have liked to have known. We also would have been able to see a menu before seating. After ordering, I left my BF seated and went to see what types of local items they had for sale. I ended up buying a jar of homemade Maple cream, from the owners parents. They were a really sweet couple. They were the ones who had told us they had been there for 5 Generations. Being a history buff, I got excited and said I bet you have some great stories. I seemed to have embarrassed him, a bit, because he smiled and changed the subject. ‍ A server came out, and informed me, they were out of burnt ends, with the Habanero Jelly. They asked if they could put pulled pork, with Bbq sauce on top of the MAC N Cheese. I agreed, but was actually super disappointed. It was the only item on the menu that had some kick to it. I just didn't see a reason to look at the menu again, since it was so small. I wish we had just left, because my BF didn't like the menu. I was not getting what I wanted. Obviously, this was not a place for us. The chicken fingers were good, they were big, coated well, tasted like they may have added a touch of cornmeal. But they were still just chicken fingers. They do offer a variety of different sauces on the side. The Mac N cheese was much better than expected. The cheese was white and creamy. The pulled pork was basic sauce, it was cooked perfectly, and had some big pieces in there, and wasn't just stringy. Their ordering system is basically contactless ordering. The new way of the world. Ordering from your phone. Which is something I actually like. But a hostess is still needed. Whoever set this system up, did a terrible job uploading the menu. I wanted a drink with Vodka. The only option was"Vodka drink" when I pushed it, it said I needed to go to the bar. They had a couple of cocktails premade, but all with whiskey and gin. When I asked the female Bartender if they can make a Martini. She looked up at some guy, and waited for him to respond. But I quickly jumped in. Before he could say anything. I just asked if she could make one of their signature cocktails they have on the menu. But swap out, the gin for Vodka. I just wanted to keep this moving forward. They said no problem, and were very nice about it. Then I asked them how to order it at the table. They told me to order the gin drink I want, and they will remember to swap it out for me. I was impressed they got that right. For such a vast space, with high ceilings, the acoustics were amazing. It wasn't loud at all. Even the kids seemed to play quietly. When I finally sat down. I saw my BF looked miserable. My own nervous system had been feeling off too, and was a bit unsure. But everyone was super friendly. It just felt like we had an odd amount of super polite attention, that others were not getting. When I took a hard look around, I realized everyone there were dressed similarly, were polite, composed, quiet, having fun, and smiling. They looked like they all came straight from the same church. That's when it hit me, this is a community place with deep roots. They probably don't get many different types of people here. I live in a rural area too, but we are a diverse group of color, culture, and art. It took me a bit off guard.
