We visited Buffalo recently and we always have to stop at Other Half when we are there. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon and the place was packed! Apparently there was an event at the baseball stadium that day. The last time we were here they had the pop up spot, now they were moved into their permanent spot. Lots of seating, lots of great beers on tap (and beers to go). We enjoyed two flights of mostly IPA's and one delicious barrel aged stout. read more

5 for the staff and location, 2.5-3 for the beer. I really want to like coming here. The people are always great, the location is good. There are tvs and games inside, the outside area is available, it's located close to work which makes it good for happy hours. However the beer selection is lacking. Last time I was there they had 20 beer on tap. That sounds great until you realize it's 17 IPAs, a hard seltzer, a lime lager, and a lager. I got the plain lager and it was hoppier than a lager should be. That's the thing, all their stuff is very hoppy and IBU levels aren't shown on the menu. Is there really that much difference to need 17 IPAs? Have a few other styles. They once had something brown, I don't remember if it was a stout, porter, or brown ale, but it was good and not overly hopped. Something like that should be on the menu all the time in addition to a few other styles. They could still have 10 IPAs available. I noticed my previous review indicated 12 ounce pours. Recently threw an impromptu party here for my fiance after he completed his PhD at UB med. The space was absolutely perfect. We were able to enjoy the beautiful weather in the beer garden which had plenty of tables for us to sit and mingle at. The inside space is gorgeous with tons of room, a large bar, and some arcade games. Food was super surprising; everything was absolutely delicious and was perfect to share with our group. I wish there was more than IPAs on tap but they had other drinks that I was able to enjoy, Great spot if you're looking to kill some time in downtown buffalo! read more

Four bartenders all gathered in one spot at left end of bar as you face it . They miss a blind spot as customers enter. Someone should be on the right end welcoming people. I was in town for a few days and was working out of a coworking space in the Seneca One building. When hunger struck my coworker and I decided to order from Otherhalf Brewing since it was right outside the door. I went very basic and got a caesar salad and an order of their truffle fries. Not only were the portions huge, but both items were tasty, too. The food was also ready to be picked up in roughly 20 minutes, which is pretty darn quick in my opinion. While I obviously got my food to go, I did get to take a look inside and it was really nice. There's a ton of space, a lot of natural light, and even arcade games. If I lived in Buffalo and worked in the area, this would totally be an after work hang out spot. I can also see this being a good place to stop before or after a game if you were hungry or needed a drink. read more

The place is great. Big layout. Great friendly staff. If you don't like IPAs it's probably not for you. They serve 90% IPAs. I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich, which the chicken and pesto sauce were great, but the roll was insanely stale. Kind of a bummer. The smashburger was decent. I would not get food here again though. Fine to stop in for a quick drink if you love ipas you'd enjoy much more probably! read more

Came here for a beer and loved the spacious venue which includes both an indoor and outdoor area. They have over 20 beers with many IPAs and some lagers and some stouts. Large bar area and I didn't have any issues with service either. I'm not sure what the food situation is here. read more

Review speaks to only the Buffalo Chapter. Good beer and that's what they are known for. Good atmosphere, and fun games and plenty of seating. Service wasn't my favorite. The bartender seemed annoyed and bothered and wasn't very helpful. I did get a smashburger and fries and the food is above ordinary for a brewery. Great atmosphere, quick service but if you aren't an ipa fan, your selections are relatively limited. I got the Mexican lager and maybe it was just me but it still had a pretty strong hop forward flavor to it. Drinkable for maybe one or two, but not a crusher. But if ipa is your thing , they got you covered. read more

Acoustics a bit loud especially if going before a game or show at the arena/ballpark, so probably better to leave your parents at home, but bring your loud kids, they will blend right in. I do like the concept of scanning the QR code at the table, ordering your food/drinks, and paying with your phone. Makes it less stressful timing-wise if you have somewhere to go right after. Also, you can order their merch (they have super cool shirts/sweatshirts) by scanning the code - easy peasy. Food was hit and miss. Our Black & Blue burger was missing the bacon, but didn't realize until we were heading out - oops. A bit too much pickled red onion, which made it super messy to eat. Also wish I could have customized toppings a bit more (e.g. blue cheese dressing instead of crumbles), yeah, I'm that person. They did master a spin on the pizza rolls with an Italian flair. That vodka sauce was dynamite. Also liked the dipping sauces for the fries (ordered the Dill Pickle Aioli). But the serving size was HUGE and unrealistic for a fry side or basket. Would like to see a smaller option with a lower price. Happy to see a kids menu; a family friendly spot before a Bandits game is a big bonus. Plus my crew was fully entertained with the arcade games that they spent all their hard-earned change on. Overall, good brewery spot with food. Worth a stop before an event downtown. read more

After a work event nearby came over to kill some time. I wish I did better research, so I won't be disappointed that all 8 of their taps are IPAs. It's a rather cavernous space, with some arcade games on one end. Basic metal tables and chairs. No A/C but they tried to keep some fans blowing. It was rather warm inside nonetheless, and I was sweating as I drank my beer. They do offer 4oz pours so great if you want a variety. A variety of IPAs, that is. read more

We visited as my son is in from Kentucky. Glad we did. The beer is very, very good. My son took four cases home with him as he and his friends are aficionados. The food was very good as well. The ambiance is great with plenty of games and such. The service was incredible! The staff were amazing. Warm and welcoming and knowledgeable. Disappointing Experience - Asked to Pay Before Receiving Food or Service I was genuinely looking forward to trying this place, but my experience left a lot to be desired. Upon ordering, I was asked to pay upfront before even receiving the food or any service. This immediately set the wrong tone for the meal. Paying in advance might be understandable at a fast food counter, but this was a sit-down restaurant, and the expectation of service comes with that. It felt impersonal and even a bit presumptuous--especially since I had no idea about the food quality or portion sizes yet. Restaurants should earn trust through good service and food--not demand it upfront. Unfortunately, this experience made me feel more like a transaction than a guest. We come here all the time and it's amazing. Great service every time. The beer is phenomenal. Food is very good and they change the menu sometimes but also have some staples which I like. We've never had a bad meal in over 10 visits. Can't say enough good things about this place. TVs, beer the service and the vibe make it a great place to watch a Sabres game or March Madness. I can't believe some of these other reviews that aren't favorable. Very cool spot. Easily one of the best breweries I've been to in the country. The beer is unmatched. The space is great. A great addition to their other locations. However the bartenders were saying that this is just a temporary location, and they'll be in the building next door next year. This temporary location is open and airy, with tables to sit at and some arcade games to play. They have so many great beers, it's hard to pick just one. So a flight is the way to go! Lots of IPAs and less of others, but that works for me because I'm an IPA gal. We got there before the Sabres game was over and glad we did because it filled up quick! read more

Very austere, minimaliat set up inside. Metal tables set fairly far apart. Flat screen showing sports, and old fashioned arcade games that now cost $1 to play. I must be getting old, I remember when they were 25 cents! Floor to ceiling windows are nice, and there is a large outside seating area. Dog friendy inside and out. Bathrooms are in trailers, so be prepared to have to walk outside to go. Hopefully, they're planning to move those inside before winter. Beer is usual his selection of Other Half brews, priced a little higher than other local breweries, 'cause they're Other Half and they can. read more

A fantastic place for family and friends in downtown Buffalo all year round! Sophia and crew are wonderful!

This is only a temporary location on the Seneca One Plaza, located in what looks like a greenhouse. Have been here twice as a dog rescue event volunteer on a Saturday afternoon. So, gave me a great opportunity to sit and observe the goings on. Sweet that they so graciously support animal rescue. What came to mind is a 21st century version of an old corner tavern atmosphere. Friends come to hang out, chat, grab a few drinks and laughs. Bring the kids, even bring the dogs. Maybe guessing customers are the downtown urbanites out for a stroll. Pinball machines and a basketball machine for entertainment. Many board games stacked up and actually being used by the groups who come in to hang out and relax. I'm not a beer fan, but they do carry a great hard apple cider, and the usual non-alcoholic offerings. No food till they are full service and moved to the tower, but patrons are encouraged to bring their own, or order in thru a delivery service. The one time, there was a foodtruck right outside. Toilet facilities are just a very short walk across the door to a restroom trailer, with all the comforts of the usual public restroom....even more, since it's big. Better things to come. Popped in to the pop-up after the Bisons last Friday Night Bash of 2021. It's an unfinished space, with four of their Brooklyn-based beers on tap -- an IPA, a double IPA, a sour, and a lager. I had the lager. Fruity and well balanced, a bit hoppier than the typical lager. A few tables, a small foos ball table, loud music okay lying from an iPad. I wavered on this rating because my intentions when reviewing an establishment is to rate it for food/drinks, ambiance and service. So there's no food, little ambiance because it's an unfinished space because they are moving next door to a much larger location, and the service is walk up to counter. That being said, just go for the beer. Draft beer preferably. Because it's the best hazy IPA beer you will find in NY, maybe on the entire East Coast. 5 stars for that. I've never been a patron of Other Half- BUF but I am a resident of S/O and see people outside this brewery frequently on the weekends. It's not much to look at in my opinion, it emulates breweries in the city but the aesthetic lacks direction and most patrons I've noticed flood the courtyard over dining in. I've been to the O/H's in Manhattan + Brooklyn and wasn't blown away but the food and ambiance are what I expected from a taproom, and the customer service was certainly on point. This location makes me want to move back home. On Sat 07/27, my bf and I entered Other Half, just to check it out. Well let me tell you, when we walked in, the two men working there walked away from the front counter and busied themselves elsewhere immediately after we walked in, they didn't even respond to us greeting them. Odd considering the doors were wide open and no one else was inside, or even out in the courtyard. We were ignored for the 2 painstaking minutes we were in this business before we decided to head out. I do not want to be assumptive regarding the extremely poor customer service, It had great potential for entertaining our guests as it's right in front of the apts but my first impression was so off putting. I just know that as long as I am a resident of Seneca One, I'll be going to South Tier. Southern Tier Brewery is a 3 minute walk from Seneca One, the ambiance is wonderful, reasonably priced food that is tasty (the caesar salad side is bomb af and I don't ever order salads at restaurants), and a medium selection of beer & cocktails. Strictly based on their IPA, sampled at a fundraising event, out of a can. It was easily the best brew from among the dozen or so participating breweries. The others were mainly Buffalo-based like Flying Bisons, Ellicottville, Community Beer Works, etc. It was so scintillating that I could hardly believe it came from a can. It's nice to have a brewery as distinctive as Grimm, Troeg, etc. in Western New York, even though this is not their headquarters. read more
