Another great discovery thanks to the WNY Craft Brew Tour Cards from Habitat for Humanity. My selection tonight was their Hefeweizen, which was excellent and I would highly recommend to Hef fans. I paired that with a tasty pile of sweet potato waffle fries and a side of honey for dipping them in. The fries were a perfect blend of crispy outside and soft inside, just a touch of salt, and the honey is genius (it's an extra $1 and well worth it). Several other beers on the menu look tempting too, and they make their own pizza dough! Another plus: the owners are friendly awesome people. I am very likely to return. The inside seating area is larger than it looks like from the outside, with plenty of seating at the bar and at tables, plus an outdoor patio. Restrooms are clearly marked and easy to access. There are several large TVs showing various sports games - no closed captions though. Music is nice, there was an upbeat jazz background while I was there. It's on the louder side but not too loud to have conversations. If you don't get lucky with a parking spot out front, there is a decent sized free parking lot just down the street and around a corner. This is another win for the beer passport! read more

Nice variety of tasty in-house brews! Prosper clearly has its regulars, but there were a fantastic place to drop into on a holiday season night. The place is huge with ample seating at both the bar and tables. Almost everyone was at the bar and we wanted to taste our beers in peace, so we went for a table. My wife and I each got a flight, so I got to try most of their offerings. My favorites were the Steampunk Cider and the Winter Ale. Both were packed with flavor! The bartender was friendly and checked on us a few times, even though he was swamped by those at the bar. We didn't opt for any food from the kitchen, but were glad to see there's the option to chow down while drinking. An added perk was that finding parking on a weeknight was super easy. Not enough breweries offer porters in Buffalo. The porter was toasty with notes of coffee and chocolate. Perfect for a damp fall evening. I ordered the pierogi platter. Pillows of dough, slightly crispy on the outside, creamy and delicious on the inside. I had to eat them all, there was no stopping me. This place is kind of quiet and personable. I'm getting first date vibes. But if you like something livelier, stop by on Wednesday for game night. Give it a try, the food and beer are homemade! read more

While visiting Buffalo recently we decided to stop in at Prosper. It was a Saturday night and we didn't feel like heading to the downtown area so we stopped in at Canal side. This place wasn't super busy but had quite a few locals inside. Upon entering we were greeted quickly by the friendly bartender. We decided to get a couple of flights to sample many different beers. We were not disappointed. We ended up with a flight of dark and a flight of lighter beer to try. As far as my personal preference there were only 2 I wasn't a huge fan of. With that being said the Steampunk Cider was phenomenal!! I'm not typically a cider drinker but this was so crisp and refreshing, not to mention it was one of their highest alcohol content. Upon finishing the flights I had to get an entire glass of the Steampunk Cider. It was that delicious. This place has a very laid back atmosphere with plenty of seating, clean bathrooms, and friendly people. I will definitely stop in next time I'm in Buffalo. read more

Not worth your time. Brewmaster refuses to bring back any old brews, so you won't get to try one you like, again. Menu online is inaccurate, menu in person changes. Sometimes last minute decisions can be a good thing. I've been curious about this hole in the wall place for ages, and while none of us drink, seeing pizza on the menu where it's literally a dollar an inch made us walk through the door. We took the last of the tables before the Friday night rush poured in. It ended up loud and crowded, and I felt the excitement building, all too reminiscent of going to a concert and being the sober one. But like heading to a show, the main act was entirely worth it. We ordered a white pizza, which boasts four types of cheese: ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan and provolone. The flavors mingled well on a homemade crust that balanced the line of doughy and firm enough. I nearly fell off my stool with the rush of pleasure striking my taste buds. It comes adorned with sliced tomato and caramelized onion. There are two places specializing in pizza hardly a block away, and yet I'd recommend ordering a pie for takeout from these hard working gents. It took a while to pay, which I chalk up to the surge of customers (obviously I must be the last person in town to try this place, unless you, oh swayable reader have not yet had the chance), but if I'm popping in to buy good food at good prices, then it's worth it. We also got a basket of fries, which holy moly, were the kind that keep the skins and have salt without being salty, the kind that have us making sure the basket is empty even if we are far past full. If you're not drinking, your only option is to ask for water. Honestly though, for a brewery, this short menu makes it worth it even for those of us who stay away from alcohol. My friend and I stopped in this modern, smaller brewery located in the heart of Tonawanda. We arrived near closing time, covid precautions were followed markings for social distancing, and plastic dividers to separate patrons. The brewery was quaint offering decent selection of beers, wine and one cider. The decor fit perfect for the place, beer and my friends cider were amazing. The kitchen sold lite bites, and even their own merchandise. I'm a light lager drinker, so my selection was their number one selection: Summer Saison( light, crispy, refreshing with tints of fruit , finished with pepper. This was the first time we tried their beers and it was at a whole new level, AWESOME!! I could not find much information regarding the current situation on the website, but I called them, and the gentleman answered all my questions patiently and highly detailed. Info here on Yelp is pretty accurate. My housemate went for the pick-up and he was very pleased that they keep everything clean and follow safety precautions. This place is cute. I don't mean that to make that comment in a derisive manner, so I apologize. The truth is, Prosper Brewing is a no pomp/frill, all business kind of joint. Small, cramped bar area with not a lot of elbow room, with an even smaller side nook with room for a small party of four. The brewery room, right off the bar area and in plain view, has a couple small tanks and a sink. There are shelves above the bar area packed with merchandise for sale. The walls were mostly a boring beige that made we wish I was asleep. The biggest issue with this brewery being such a small operation is probably the fact that your drink choices are wine by the glass or the house beer on tap. The house beer... not so bad. I tried the Buffaloes IPA, which is characterized as a half West Coast, half East styled IPA, with a little Belgium influence, is a 6.4% ABV beauty. I'm not big with the palate and the tasting, but it had an interesting flavor with a hint of sweetness. At the end of the first drink, we needed to move our party along to more liquor-rich pastures across the street (the ladies in the group wanted vodka and tequila). However, I look forward to sampling more of what Prosper has to offer in the future. read more

In town to see the falls and driving around the area we stumbled upon this gem. it was a bit of a damp chilly day and the atmosphere when we walked in was warm and welcoming, food was perfect comfort food at really reasonable prices and a nice assortment of great beer that is brewed right there. This has to be, hands down, the best pub in Tonawanda. Not only is the staff friendly and knowledgeable, but the food is fresh and flavorful, the beers varying and delicious, and the atmosphere clean and inviting. The flights of beer are only $8 for four and there are 12 beer from which to choose. The Munich was my favorite as it had a soft chocolate undertone. I also quite enjoyed the Steampunk and the Raspberry. Their hand-cut fries are amazing and the gluten-free pizza my friend ordered tasted amazingly glutinous! After doing a job in Amherst I drove over to Prosper Brewing as they were still open. It was not a wasted drive. This is a small nano brewery with a good selection of beers, a cider and wine. I am guessing it was the owner / brewer behind the bar and his sister in the kitchen. Both were amazingly pleasant and friendly to an out of towner who had no idea what things were or how to pronounce them. I tried a flight of 3 beers and their cider all of which were quite good. To eat (hey, its the law right now) I had their Firehouse Chowder which really hit the spot perfectly for a cold wet night. I decided to get some beer to go. What I love is that he does 16 ounce beers to go filled on the spot. Wow. Much better than a 32 ounce crowler in my book. He even mixed a 4 pack for me. Great service. I wish other breweries would do 16 oz from the taps. Sometimes I just want a single beer at home (well in fact most of the time thats what I want) so a 32 ounce doesn't always work. I honestly had no idea Tonawanda had a brewery. We stumbled on this after an appointment at the escape room next door and I was thrilled. I've always said the Tonawanda's are extremely undeserved in this area, so I knew we had to try it once we discovered it. While I would have liked to sample more of the beers, we only had time for one before our dinner reservations. The bartender was very friendly and insisted I sample the beers before buying. I tried a couple of samples at the bar before settling on their AuZea IPA, which was the best of the bunch I had. Overall it was a nice visit, I would come back if we were in the area. read more

Nothing really stood out to me too much, but nothing was disappointing either. I felt that their best beer I tried was the Munich Dunkel. This is a strong positive for me, as it's the ability to make a just a direct, good beer. I had been told in the past, their approach wasn't to go for all the fancy beers, but to make some straightforward, good brews; and I think they hit the nail on the head. It's a decent vintage revival and I think they lack a few modern techniques in some of what they serve specifically as I see it the wine. They do the beer mostly very well and the food looks like they do well though I have not had much of it. Perhaps they need a curtained off section for women as particular about getting funny looks over having a brew as me like "back in the old days". I would actually use it too so I can enjoy some of the brews at a time the way I like, or to enjoy a flight in privacy. It would be better that way. For now, I have a brew here as often as I can afford to and as often as I can tolerate the nearly intolerable feeling I get trying to enjoy being stared at so negatively while just trying to drink a fresh beer. Thank God that some local brewing companies are starting to fill convenience store fridges in that sense, and I hope they can be as successful because I don't have anything against besides this which they don't have control over. Literally, if they had the curtain, a "women's space" to enjoy a beer would be very authentic, I would love it, and I would use that space. Used to be for religious reasons, and since they are "made in the image of God" and they treat me like the devil this is exactly why I would love to use it. read more

I am very excited that a brewery opened close to home on Webster St. Came in here with a friend, sat at the bar, and no one really said hello or anything. We asked for a menu, and we told the guy we were never in here before, he didn't seem to care much and didn't say anything about the beers or menu. Another girl came over and asked if we were ready. I ended up getting a flight of 4 beers. The beers were sub par and not that cold. I really wanted to like the beer, but it just wasn't a good experience, maybe just a bad night. I will Def come here again because it's close to home and I do like the small atmosphere, and by small I mean it's very very small.
