We decided to go for a winter city walk to get some fresh air and ended up at Fattey's. We took our 7 year old who was so pleased with her juice, snacks, and the board games that we played. I had the blueberry crumble sour which I loved, and my partner had a mango beer which was also very good. This is easily a place that you can spend hours in. They play great music, have larger tables for games or big parties, and they have a great selection of local beer and wine that you can take home. I live close by and it was my first time here. We came in here after an event (which seems to be happening a lot lately lol) and were greeted with samples from a banana bread bake off that had just happened! Lol how cute is that? The bartender took our orders, we seated ourselves, got a few glasses of (tap) water and waited. The classic chicken sandwiches are classic for a reason! So good! Whatever sauce they use, it's perfect and you get a choice of chips or pretzels for your side. My friends and I came here after a convention at the Convention Center a couple of blocks away. I am in love with this place, it's the type of place that you wish every city has one of. Really chill vibe, casual, friendly service, but the place is still busy and buzzing with many customers. They have beers on tap but what makes it stand out is the large selection of cans and bottles they have in the coolers and on the shelf. If you don't like what they offer on tap, you can always come and choose something on this side. Very reasonably priced too. I ended up taking extra to bring home. read more

It's down the street from many restaurants so it's my go-to place to grab a drink while we wait for our names to be called for our table. They also have a beer VIP club where you get many perks including a free bday beer and prices off of their to-go packs. You even get a mug to use every time you come in. Went for a quick drink with friend and really enjoyed the vibe of the place. It wasn't very busy at the time so that probably helped as I was able to take my time to look at the full selection of beers, hard ciders and seltzers they had for to go orders and well as time to get samples of what was on tap before ordering. Everything currently on tap was priced between $5-$9 dollars and I ended up settling on a hard cider for $7 (16oz). It was great delish! I've been to the Fattey out in Hamburg before and really enjoyed it. So when I learned they were opening up one in downtown Buffalo, it was a must visit. In the end, it was a nice relaxing spot to have a few drinks and gets bonus points in my book for being extremely dog friendly. The space is smallish but nicely appointed. The bartender was friendly and helpful, he has about a dozen beers behind him on tap and a whole lot more than that available on the shelves and coolers. Lovely little beer hall in the heart of Downtown Buffalo! I stumbled upon this little beer spot while walking around. They have a nice selection of beers on tap, and plenty of canned and bottled selections! They have some uncommon beers on tap, an a couple of known beers. I tried a couple on tap, but couldn't find anything I liked. I was recommended to try High Water's Campfire S'more stout, since I wanted something on the sweeter side. It was an amazing recommendation by the very friendly and kind Bartender! It's a beer from a brewery in Colorado, but its sold here fairly cheap! It was delicious! It had a lovely Chocolate and marshmallow taste with a toasted graham cracker finish. The bartender knows what he's talking about! This place is perfect for enjoying a nice cold brew during a walk around the city! read more

We stumbled across this place during a recent visit to Hamburg for Christmas. We had driven by earlier in the night and the place was wall-to-wall packed. Intrigued, we visited a couple hours later. It was dead at this point and they were closing. We mentioned that we were from out of town and just wanted to have a beer. The bartender responded, "We can do that!". We felt so welcomed and were very thankful. They have an amazing offering of craft beers, both on tap and on two long walls for carryout. They are also pet-friendly!! INSIDE. This is something we searched for in Hamburg and couldn't find it online, so we were extremely excited to see a dog inside with its owner. The staff is so friendly here. The space is very nice. And, apparently they have a very popular trivia night, which is why it was so packed when we drove by the first time. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Hamburg! read more

For starters, I do NOT consider myself a huge fan of beer. However, I love the atmosphere at Fattey. I usually venture here on Monday nights at 7PM for trivia night - it's always a blast with a great turnout! Fattey is essentially a medium-sized room with adequate seating both inside and on the sidewalk outside (lots of picnic-style tables) with seats at the bar. They also have a CLEAN bathroom in the back, as an FYI. It is well-lit. and full of energy and positive vibes. It is not exactly a quiet spot, so if you need to have a serious conversation with someone, this probably is not the ideal place to go. However, if you are with a large group or with a few friends and are looking to have a fun time, this is a great spot! With regards to the drink selections, they have a wide variety of craft beers along with some of your big brand-named beers such as PBR. The selection of drinks often changes, which is exciting in my opinion. The pricing is quite fair. They occasionally have a fridge with cheap "shower beers" inside if you are looking for a basic beer for a low price. There are some draft beer options available as well. The bartenders know the drink selection quite well and they're very friendly and funny! Of note, they do not serve food, HOWEVER, they do make a really good chicken patty sandwich and it comes with potato chips. read more

As we were having brunch at Raclettes, we saw people sitting next door drinking beers outside on wooden benches and that's when we discovered Fattey Beer Co.'s craft beer store and tasting room. We drank a four beer flight from their rotating beer taps (they have 12), a beer recommended from their vintage beer refrigerator and another beer from their cooler. According to their website, they have over 500 beers to chose from. I personally didn't count the beers, but based on my observation it certainly seems like there are that many available. They aim to "bring a relaxed craft beer experience to the neighborhood" and with the friendliness of the staff, the fact that they welcome dogs, the free popcorn, and ability to bring in your own food... I'd say they hit the mark. The place is a real standout among the "run of the mill" drinking establishments on Chippewa and the surrounding area. A few highlights include: ​- 500+ Beers to drink in or take out ​- Vintage fridge containing $3.00 beers (I drank a Genesee Ruby Red on recommendation) - $10.00 flights all day long - Bring in your own food - A mug club with many perks With their location in Franklin Square, choice of beers you can't get anywhere else, and their hours (open until 10pm during the weekdays and 11pm on the weeknights), they'll attract a lot of different types of people and should be a great spot to sit and relax or just pick something up to bring home. read more

Big fan of Ham and Fatteys in Hamburg. Caught my eye walking the street with the cozy outdoor patio. To my surprise it is their new location. Same great feel as the southtown bar but with outdoor seating just outside the Gold Dome. This will be a great summer spot. Highly recommend. Staff and owner were very friendly and welcoming walking in. Great large craft draft beer selection and a huge selection of unique canned beers (that they will cool for you in their nifty machine). Nice place I found it while downtown. It's located steps from Main Street on Genesee street. Small area with a pine top bar and seating for about twenty five or so. Bartender as well as the clientele was friendly. I was asked and given a sample of a couple of beers. I picked a Swiftwater Porter brewed in Rochester NY. Nice beer with a clean finish and toasted body. A refreshing drink a comfortable vibe to this little place. No food but they do have a few phone numbers to order food from other restaurants such as casa di pizza, Coco, misuta chows, lovejoy pizza Deep South taco. Husband and I found this new place on accident and really enjoyed the cider here. The place itself isn't very big, but they have 5-6 tables (including tabletops) inside and seats outside as well. It's definitely a place that makes you ask "Is it a bar? Is it a store?" (as written in Buffalo Rising). There are a lot of boxes of beer and cider stored up everywhere; even in the cubes of the tabletops. Because it's a new place, everything is clean and bright and design is modern. We got a something New York kiwi cider (I don't remember the exact name!) and it was pretty good. Think we'll try to visit again some time for the $10 flights! read more

Extremely rude and inattentive staff. My friend kindly said excuse me more than once, so she could order... one time she was just flat out ignored (ok, maybe they didn't hear because they were deep in conversation with each other) said excuse me once more to which the staff members turned and looked at her, said nothing and went back to their conversation. I was in the bathroom while all this happened, which was not at all clean. My other friend actually had to pee as well, but I told her to go elsewhere due to the state of their bathroom. I was paid attention to once I came out from the bathroom, so I did order what I believe they called a "Fattey slush", slushie version of a PBR coffee which was good and I have never seen anywhere else. I would definitely not revisit this location. I did see a sign go up for them at the Wurtlitzer Building, so I would consider giving them another try at the new location. I sincerely hope they have a better staff and a much cleaner bathroom! read more

My husband and I just had a wonderful experience here. Nick, the owner, is incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. I grew up here and sadly live in San Francisco now but we will be back every time we visit my family here. The selection is incredible and ever changing. This place is a great addition to downtown Buffalo. It's similar to Aurora Brew Works in that you can buy beer there and enjoy it there or take it home. The bartender was friendly and nice. They had great music playing too. I prefer darker beers and they had a delicious Imperial Coffee Stout called Nexus of the Crisis. It was dark, heavy, and delicious, with a smack you in the face deep coffee flavor! My friend ordered a Summertime Strawbreezy cider. It was light, airy, and fun, just like me. It tasted like summertime in a glass! They have free popcorn. There is a chalk board listing their mug club rules and local numbers of fun local restaurants. (You can order in food and eat it at Fattey's. I think you can bring in your own food too.) Dogs are welcome, in fact a dog was hanging out with his owner while I was there. You can sit on the front picnic benches with your glass drinks. I think they have a back patio too. If I ever have a fun night downtown planned, this will continue to be one of my first stops. read more

I love the whole concept of this place, as it is similar to Aurora Brew Works in East Aurora. It's a beer store AND a bar! Purchase any number of cans or bottles and enjoy right there in the bar. Or you can choose to try a draft beer from their frequently rotating taps. It's a great way to try some new beers. Not sure what to get? Go with a flight or ask the knowledgeable bartenders! The space and location also make this a very enjoyable experience. I love this corner of Main Street, and not just because it's right down the street from my office.
