I guess I understand why the owners number is on the yelp page, the staff don't seem to ever answer the phone in the restaurant for to go orders. I've tried to place one twice now ( the food is really good, the only reason I would do this insanity twice).. the first time I was told to call back and had to call multiple times just to get an answer (the phone rang and rang and went to voicemail), the second time months later I tried calling multiple times to place an order to no avail....sadly...I was really looking forward to their cutlet sandwich. I do recommend this place, but I guess you just need to go in person :( read more

I've only been here twice and not long each time. It was just a stop for one beer type thing and then go to the bar that you're planning on staying at for the night. It was nice and big in there. I like the way that there was room to move. It's not real small like most bars I end up going to. The bartender was OK, it was very, very crowded, so they were low on seats. Like I said, I wasn't there very long. I didn't spend a lot of time there so I don't really know much about the place. I didn't even so much just use the restroom there so I don't know about those. I don't know if they have food or not. I just like the fact that it's spacious. read more

We went to Sterling for the first time, and I had been looking forward to it for a while--and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The food was so good. We ordered the NYC chopped cheese and the Caesar sandwich, and both were packed with great flavor. The rolls were awesome, and the French fries and onion rings were the perfect finishing touch. The staff was very friendly and always nearby (which came in handy when we needed extra napkins, lol). The dining room is on the smaller side, so I can see there being a bit of a wait during the dinner rush. Parking is street parking on a busy strip, but trust me--it's all well worth it. read more

Been wanting the steak sandwich here since new ownership. Went last night and wasn't disappointed. Loaded with steak, lot of flavor and filled me up. Bread was good but was *slightly* over toasted. Would have liked it a little chewier. Would definitely order again. Fries were McDonald's like , but in a good way. Love a shoestring and they were cooked well. We went solely on Step out Buffalo's recommendation to try the steak & cheese sandwiches. We arrived on Saturday at 12:30, 30 minutes after they opened. There were four of us, and when I asked for a separate check for myself, I was told that they do not do provide separate checks. Seriously? We ordered 4 of the sandwiches, three beers and one overpriced, mixed drink. One work person, maybe the owner, I have no idea, started working on one of the rollup garages doors that was literally right next to our table. He had an electric drill with a huge screw bit screwing away at that thing while we're trying to talk and enjoy our drinks. No awareness at all. The food arrived and the fries were so overly salted you literally could not eat them. One person in our party mentioned it to our waitress who just shrugged and walked away. No offer of replacing them, really no acknowledgment of our concern at all. Our sandwiches were equally way, way over salted. The best part came just before we were getting ready to leave... they started washing the floors with a heavily scented chemical cleaner. It was now 1 1/2 hrs after they had opened. What are they thinking? Not only was our food bad, management clearly needs help understanding what you do and do not do when people are inside your establishment trying to enjoy themselves. Over $110 with food/tip. We will not be back nor ever recommend this place. read more

This is a great neighborhood tavern. Good viewing for the games, friendly staff, and the steak hoagie was excellent. The roll really sets it apart from the rest! I would highly recommend it if you love a good steak hoagie. read more

We stopped into Sterling Place Tavern and really enjoyed our meal. I had the chicken cutlet sandwich, which was absolutely delicious -- the sauce and cheese were in perfect balance, and the bread had just the right crunch. My husband ordered the wings, which had a great crisp to them, though they were a little too saucy for his taste. We both had fries on the side, and they were spot on -- crispy and perfectly cooked. Get the cheesesteak! Get the cheesesteak!!! I can't even try anything else, because it's that good! Super juicy meat, no fat, the cheese is melted perfect and the bread is crisp on outside and soft on the inside. The fries taste like McDonald's fries too, nice and crispy! Stopped in today to watch a little Football & grab something to eat. The place wasn't to busy, the bartender greeted me as soon as I sat & gave me a menu + a special food menu. Looking at the brews on tap, it was the common choices. I asked if they served any retro brews like Genny (Light), PBR or Uncle Charlie (Utica Club), the answer was not what i wanted to hear so i settled for a Peroni, The food menu i thought was outstanding. My choice for a sandwich was the Steak & Cheese on a toasted hoagie roll with onion rings on the side. The beer was served cold from the tap but i prefer a chilled glass. All 3 TV's had football on which is a plus for me. My sandwich arrived very quick & i couldn't wait to dive in. The taste was loaded with flavor & i realized i had made a great choice. The bartender was very attentive & did a good job. The only reason I gave 3 stars is the poor choice of brews especially NO retro Brews !!! Definitely will visit again, hopefully there will be a better Brew choice. read more

Horrible experience. The food was not fresh, the menus were old and service was extremely poor. The manager was dismissive and said, "we don't mix and match here," while debating with us instead of addressing concerns. Most concerning, we were blocked at the door and questioned about payment after already paying, which felt targeted and discriminatory. This was an experience of horrible customer service and racial profiling. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

My wife and I just had an early dinner there today. First time here and food was FANTASTIC! My wife had the Steak & Cheese and I had The Rodeo Chopped Cheese. Both came with fries and let me tell you that the fries taste EXACTLY like McDonalds fries and that is a compliment. Huge portions! Service was fast and friendly too. Highly recommended. read more

Went there on a Saturday afternoon 2:30 pm. We were greeted by friendly staff who sat us at a table quickly. Our waiter took our order, and then brought our drinks. An hour later still no sign of 3 sandwhiches. We inquired and were told it would be out shortly. Another half hour still no food. We paid for our drinks and left. Won't ever be back. Too many fine places to dine without waiting 90 minutes or more. Let people know if there is going to be a delay. I think our waiter just lost or forgot our order. read more

We were seated quickly and our waiter Jerry took our order as quickly as we were sat. 90 minutes later we still had not received our 3 sandwiches . When I inquired about the status of our order we were told " they are plating it now" another 15 minutes pass and still no food . Spoke to another gentleman who worked there who actually sat us about the status as well. " we sat you quick" was his response at which point I attempted to just pay for the 3 cokes we had drank , which he refused . If your kitchen is backed up it's cool , but please give people the option of waiting it out knowing it's going to be a while so that they can decide whether or not to stay or make alternative plans . read more
