Went to Dwyer's bar on 4 July 2026 after the fireworks display in North Tonawanda got a drink, went out on the patio to see the band as soon as the band was done the supposedly security guards came out and started yelling and screaming at everybody get off the patio and go in the bar, after we had just bought drinks we were told the Bar was closing to get out. The security people were physically pushing people out of the bar, screaming and threatening the patrons. I have never in my life been treated like this at any bar. When we asked the so called security staff at the bar if Greg the owner of the bar was aware of the way his staff was treating people at his establishment we were told they had no idea who Greg is. read more

Stopped in on a Thursday night to meet up with a friend who lives north. Figured this was a great middle spot. JP Dwyers is exactly what you would expect for an older Irish pub. A ton of character here it was great. Ordered a few Guinness, got a stinger wrap which was great too, just a little heavy on the grease side. My friend ordered a burger and oh man it was almost the size of a soccer ball. I was concerned with the burger being that big that the taste wouldn't be great but he said it was great! I've heard they have great wings so I'll have to go back and try some. The space could use a little TLC but if you're looking for a pub to get some Irish food and drinks, this is your spot. Tons of choices for sauces but what we didn't realize was there was a 1.50 up charge for them, or at least, the bourbon/medium sauce we got...which was really good. The wings were crispy without asking for extra crispy and they came out almost too hot to eat. Asked about the Celtic chips, on the menu, but told they were no longer available. We got black and tan onion rings. Really good; tad greasy, but they're cooked in oil, so what can you expect?! Came with a not too spicy chipotle like sauce. That was good as well. Walking in to Dwyers is like entering a classic local watering hole, great woodwork, fully stocked bar, and friendly bartenders who get drinks out quick. We ordered 50 wings, cause when you got a group the boys gotta eat. Medium, medium Cajun, bbq, honey garlic, garlic parm// all cooked nice and crispy/ good sauces all the way around//... some onion rings and cheesey tots. The only thing I can say is I wish the bacon and the tots were a little crispier (they were good/just my own preference). Beer taps were offline and they had bottles only but those things happen and they definitely had a decent bottle selection anyway. I'd swing back for another visit for sure, just to try and catch it when they aren't jam packed. read more

If it wasn't for someone suggesting Dwyers, we'd never have found it. I didn't even see it on a Yelp search while looking for places to eat in the area. A group of eight of us showed up around 1230pm on a Sunday. We walked in to find an empty bar/restaurant. We had our choice of seats as we sat down for lunch. Our server was outstanding. I want to say her name was Lynea (but could be so very wrong). She was solo, due to the fact her co-worker for the day was sick. At one point we wondered if we could get the TV on so we could watch some football. She did everything in her power to get those TV's on, even making a call. She did it! She was also very attentive to our group and kept us all taken care of despite her watching the bar and tending to us (and eventually others that walked in). Onto the food and drink. I shared some wings w/ my daughter. Wings were very good. I also got a Reuben, also very good. My wife ordered a burger and it was huge. Many others ordered the fish/chips. Nobody complained about their food. For drinks, there is a nice selection of beers on tap. I ordered a Smithwick's (Ireland) Red Ale. Wow, a good smooth beer. I think everyone was very happy with our choice. Dwyers Pub was outstanding. If ever in the area, I'm sure I'll stop on in. read more

Started off we were not seated just given menus and told our table was over there. Waitress was very nice. Ordered the Fish Fry which arrived sitting on a plate of potato chips? Not given the option for French fries. Included 4 Hush puppies and a small plastic container of Coleslaw which tasted as if was in the fridge for awhile. On our last visit we were given plastic utensils in a plastic bag and they did not disappoint, once again plastic. My wife ordered the steak sandwich and also received plastic. After a day on the boat we decided to pop over to NT and find a place to eat. It was a beautiful Saturday evening and everywhere was super busy. Since we did not have a reservation a few places couldn't even seat us that evening. It was a bit of a wait here too but there was a band so we decided to come to JP Dwyer's. The restaurant is pretty big. Lots of tables inside and they can accommodate groups. They have a large outdoor patio as well with a good amount of seating. It's definitely a historic building and divey kind of bar. First of all the service was not good. It took a long time to get menus, waters and finally drinks. Trying to get refills was even harder. Once we were able to order the food took a ridiculous amount of time. We waited well over an hour. We ordered very standard bar type food. The server barely came back to check on us. People who came after us got their food before us. We asked the server about the food status at one point and she said it wasn't ready and she would check. 15 minutes later the food came. Some was hot and fresh. Other items were cold, one item was not edible. I understand it's busy and places are understaffed but we would have rather gotten the food as it was cooked so people could eat their food hot. It didn't seem like the server cared much or was paying attention to when the food was up. My pizza logs were hot and tasty. The sweet potato fries were cold. I did love that they were shoestring and still very crispy. They would have been even better hot. My significant other had the steak sandwich and he said it was fine. Other friends had the wings and said they were very good. Another friend had a burger which came out burnt, like had black char on one side. It was really obvious and the kitchen should have caught this and not sent it out. It took so long to get our food we ended up having to drive the boat home in the dark. Not a great situation. Seems we came on a bad night. We did enjoy the band and people watching. If you come to NT in the summer on a weekend make a reservation for the place you really want to go to avoid this kind of thing. read more

Came on a busy Saturday evening. Waited 45 min for a table (understandable) and got seated outside by the live band. Service was slow, but you could tell our waitress was busting her butt trying to take care of everyone. It took over two hours to serve our table of 6 our meals (no apps/dessert). There were some positive reviews of some things (cheesesteak, pizza logs), but the burger I ordered (medium) came out so over cooked it was charred black on both sides and was inedible. Not to mention the fries were ice cold. The waitress noticed I didn't eat it and offered to take it off the bill (much appreciated). She stated the kitchen was short staffed. Not to be harsh, but this is not my problem. The restaurant was more focused on pumping in the customers to get money than appropriately seating for their staffs capacity. Went to Dwyer's to celebrate my birthday with a good friend. We both went for the fingers this time. I decided to upgrade the flavor to the Jameson bbq. Is it worth the extra $1.50? No. It had good flavor, but I couldn't taste the Jameson in it. Also, the breading on the fingers kept coming off when I was cutting into it with the knife. Not sure if it was because of the knife, or the bbq sauce. Maybe skip the fingers all together and just go for the wings, burgers and tater tots. My friend commented that the service was quicker than usual here. I want to comment that the waitress was more attentive than usual. read more

My husband and I came across this place while visiting Niawanda Park. The pub is in a great location next to the Riviera theater and we've heard great things about this pub. When we walked in the pub we were absolutely freezing cold. It was around 5 o'clock and it was getting cooler outside so he didn't understand why the air was still on. My husband requested to have a sit outside and we were seated inside their outside tent. They were twinkly lights around the perimeter of the interior of the tent which were pretty cool and gave it a festive look however, the tent itself was torn in many places, so the owner should take a look at that. For that alone, I had to deduct a star. When we were seated, we were greeted by our waitress around 2 to 3 minutes after we sat. My husband and I found out about their selective beer list and we had to order from the list. I decided to try the Leinenkugel summer shandy and my husband ordered a Michelob ultra on tap. Both were really good but the Shandy did taste a little bit flat, but the Michelob ultra did taste like a Michelob ultra. Before going to this restaurant, I did research their yelp page and was intrigued by a lot of the photos featured on their page . From the menu, we ordered the mac & cheese bites to start a Caesar salad, a small side salad, and a 20 count of the honey garlic wings. At first came the mac & cheese bites. They were absolutely delicious and the pepper jack cheese gave it a nice bite along with the spicy mayo, gave it a unique flavor that was very pleasant. The greens on our salads were very crisp and definitely points for fresh vegetables and condiments. The wings at first I was a little bit nervous because they came out too much char. But with the honey garlic sauce and the juiciness of the wings, the flavor seem to work, and they were really enjoyable, so enjoyable that we ate every last one. Our waitress very good however, we had a deduct another star off because the waitress did not mention her name, nor greeted us in the proper manner. Had the waitress mentioned her name and greeted us in the proper manner. I would've given this place at least four stars. I've been here twice before, but I gotta say, third time is definitely not the charm. In fact, this place seems to have taken a sizable dive on the service front. I almost felt like apologizing to my pal for asking her to dinner. We were warned that there was a wait for the food. We weren't given an estimate, and looking around the restaurant, not filled to capacity, we agreed to stay. We were hoping it would give us time to talk, though the volume of the room made it difficult to hear without leaning in and speaking up. Which was fine with me, as my butt was going numb on the wooden bench we were seated in. Our food arrived an hour later. Not being privy to circumstances, we assumed that possibly it was a one man show back there, and having drained my plastic water cup long ago (adorned with a lemon, a cute touch) I took a bragging rights picture before digging in. I had been looking forward to the veggie wrap all week, having scoured the online menu. (Beware, the onsite prices have gone up with no update online.) The menu says it has mushrooms and peppers, with onions, black olives, lettuce and tomato. For a lot of ingredients, I was hit with a strong dose of the last veg, the banana peppers. I opted to go cheeseless and specifically asked for the parm peppercorn dressing on the side. I'm not big on hot dressing, yet still wanted to dip my wrap into it for the flavor. This request was ignored, as my wrap was leaking it out the center onto the paper lined basket. Despite this, it was pretty good, though I still think it would have been better with a bit less kick and slop. I had upgraded to a salad, as did my pal. They brought the dressing in a cup, allowing me to dose it out over the array of veg. They don't specify on the menu, but be warned, it's not the same as the side salad offered like most restaurants. There was no croutons or cheese. I did appreciate the big cuts of onion and tomato, though they were hard to handle with the provided plastic silverware. This place is not very eco-friendly. Honestly, I kind of wish I had just ordered the salad, as we both cleared our plates of them. My pal only finished half of her gargantuan burger, too tall to fit in her mouth. She loved the flavor. Honestly, the food here is worth ordering takeout, where you can make sure your message is getting to the chef and that you're getting charged the right amount. I was charged for two dressings, even though the menu stated it'd be in the wrap. Also, my pal wasn't charged for her dressing, and got a pickle slice (both burgers and wraps are supposed to come with one) while I seemed to be on the raw end of the deal. After another while of waiting for the mostly absent waitress to return, we were told we'd only have to pay for one, which while not ideal, was better than nothing. If you go, be careful in the bathroom as the door opens into the room, and some patrons just shove it as hard as they can, nearly slamming into your face. Maybe the key to enjoying an in restaurant experience is to eat outside. Less noise, more people watching. Or better yet, take it to go and eat in the comfort of your own home, as while I wouldn't make this a regular order, it's not bad for pub fare. I was here this past weekend and had a great experience. I wanted to come with my friends for the chicken wings because they have so many flavors. Our waitress was so sweet and accommodating. Until my most recent visit, I have always just gotten apps and wings at Dweyer's. This time, I decided to get a Swiss mushroom bacon burger and it did not disappoint. It was HUGE for not an insane cost! The roll that it was on looked and tasted fresh baked and it was a good bread to meat ratio. I also got sweet potato fries instead of chips. This is the only time I have ever seen shoe string sweet potato fries and thankfully they held their heat pretty well. The honey butter dipping sauce that came with them was tasty too. The only problem I had was that it was a tad undercooked... I ordered medium well and it came medium. The friend I was with ordered hot wings... Decided to stop here as they currently are allowing indoor dining and I needed to get out of the house!! Social distanced tables...4 per table. Not sure if it was due to the pandemic or just what they do but paper plates were given- felt like home. I did my research ahead of time, saw the things to order here were wings and wraps. Looking at the menu I couldnt scroll by their fries- once I saw you can get them with ranch or cajun seasoning I had to get some and BOY was I glad I did. These thin babies were like Mcdonalds fries with a kick (I got cajun) These puppies really stole the show for my meal. Slammed a few vodka waters...$5.75 for a well drink seemed a bit high but that didnt stop me from having a few ;) Now the wings...heard great things...got zesty garlic and sweet chili...the wings themselves were good but the sauces weren't anything special...good...but nothing to write to yelp or write home about if you will...ill give the wings a 8 out of 10. We stopped out at Dwyers on an unseasonably warm Tuesday evening in March. Since it was 70 degrees outside, we decided to sit on the large, covered patio. The tables were spaced at least 6 feet apart, and were sanitized between guests. We started by looking over the beer list-20 on tap to choose from, and since this is an Irish Pub, we ordered a Guinness and a Smithwicks. Both were served cold, well poured, and delivered with a smile. Our server, Alyssa, was working the entire patio by herself and had 7 other tables to take care of. She is a wonder! She arrived with menus, answered our questions, and took our order. Our food was delivered in a short time, along with extra napkins, utensils, and condiments. The chicken club wrap was delicious. I would order it again, but would ask for extra mayo on the side next time. The wings were good, but could have been a little bit crispier. The blue cheese was courtesy of Ken's. The fries were average, and the Celtic chips were tasty. We hope to come back in the summer and visit the patio at night when the fire pit is operating. read more

Took a trip over the bridge to Dwyers yesterday and boy was it worth it. They are one of the very few restaurants that still provide malt vinegar for their fries and provided so many choices of sauces. Now me and my best friends are addicted to trying sauces, so we decided to order chicken fingers, plain, with multiple side sauces (see picture). Just to point out a few that really hit home for us would be the General TSO, zesty orange, and Golden BBQ. Enjoyed some Smithwicks Irish Red Ale along with EBC Blueberry. Have to note: this is my second visit this month and we enjoyed wings last time. Cooked to perfection and smothered in sauce. A must try for sure! read more

We came to Dwyers for an early evening dinner. We heard from friends it gets packed quick and the parking is tricky, so we got down there as soon as possible. We got lucky with parking and seating! We were seated right away outside. I know a lot of people come here for chicken wings. I however do not eat chicken so I stuck to getting the fish fry! (My go-to) My boyfriend ordered the stinger. The fish was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection, with a boatload of French fries, and a twist on coleslaw, made with pecans and mango. I would have gotten a bucket full of that to take home if I could. It was amazing. My boyfriend really enjoyed his stinger as well. He said it was nice to see a full steak instead of steak strips on the stinger. He said it was cooked perfectly, and the fingers were tasty. Please note - I am on a quest to find the best Guinness Stout in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls region. In going to JP's on a foul and rainy Friday night, I entered a warm inviting crowd - people were kicking back enjoying the night. I was hoping to get a draft, but all the draft beers were unavailable that night. Just my luck - fortunately, though I was able to order a can of the good stuff, which came in a stylin Guinness glass. The bartender did not do a proper 119.5 minute pour. But, I've had worse thinks happen to me in life. In other words, a first world problem. She was friendly, prompt and polite. The pub has lots of Irish themed decorations - reminding you that you're not in your average run of the mill bar. The cost of the black gold cost me only $8 - well worth a second visit sometime in the year of 2024. This place is what a pub should look like. When you walk in, it has beautiful wooden walls and a great bar. There were a ton of regular customers there, but they were inclusive so you felt like you were home. There are at least a dozen craft beers on tap and a large list of bottled beers for you to choose from as well. We went on Friday for lunch and because it's the Lenten Season, I was so happy to see that the had a special Lent Menu! I choose the Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwich with sweet potato fries. Oh. My. God. It was amazing! The shrimp was so fresh and cooked perfectly and the flavor was just right. The sweet potato fries come with their own house made sauce. They give you so many fries which were cooked perfectly and the sauce was nice and sweet, but not too sweet. My husband got a Stringer Wrap that he also loved. I've heard good things about this pub, but I didn't know that it was going to be this great. Terrible!!! Entered the restaurant at 6:00 told there would be a 30 minute wait. Walked in and saw multiple empty tables. While we were waiting we were freezing, the whole time it was very cold in the restaurant. Was seated at around 7:00. Server was great she took our order and got our drinks fast. Food finally came out at 7:45 and was all wrong. Burger was very undercooked. Items were missing. Server asked for recook of the burger. My husband finished his meal and I was still waiting for my meal. It was 8:30 and still no meal!!! We got up and went downstairs and asked the host about our food and bill. He found our server and she said they were still working on my burger. We told her we didn't want to wait any longer as we were tired and wanted to go home. She took the burger off the bill.
