My family was spending a night in Buffalo and I wanted to try the Union Pub. We arrived around 6:00 on a Wednesday and there was no line/wait. Honestly there weren't many people in the restaurant. The bartender was our server/waitress. She was extremely friendly and attentive. I ordered the Pub Beef on a Weck, my oldest son had a wrap, and my wife/youngest son had a French Onion burger. My sandwich was absolutely outstanding. Tender, tasty...fries were good. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I would certainly stop here again. We love the food and employees at both the Union Pub and Transit Music Lounge locations. They have great wings with many flavors to choose from and wing specials during the week. Check their website because both locations have different specials. We have had many of their sandwiches, burgers, wings and apps. Try their BLT with candied bacon or their Portobello mushroom burger. You also can't go wrong with their beef burgers. I love the peanut butter, jalapeño one! I can't promote the fries and tots enough. Great snack while enjoying a beverage. Plus, you can get different flavors and seasonings on their fries and tots, similar to their wings! I arrived at Union Pub with my girlfriend expecting to sit at the bar. The bar appeared to be full, but I didn't have enough time to scan the room before I was directed to go sit in the dining room. That left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth, but I got over it quickly. Our server was lovely, and got us our drinks quickly. Then I ordered the golden standard burger and my girlfriend ordered the beef on weck. The golden standard burger has bacon, cheddar, a fried egg and relish on it. My burger was perfectly cooked to order. The juices were running down my hand as I devoured this top of the line burger. All the ingredients worked together perfectly. It is a gold standard burger! I also tried my girlfriend's beef on weck. I don't think I've had roast beef so tender. And the bread was so soft. It was so good and not as heavy as the burger. I feel like I could have eaten two of them if I didn't order anything else. A unique variation of the roast beef sandwich that I will certainly get any time I'm in the Buffalo area. Stopped in on a Monday night to catch the football game. The bar was completely full so we sat along the back wall but could easily still see TVs. We got 20 wings split with 2 sauces-garlic Parmesan and mild. The wings were crispy, which I prefer, whereas my husband prefers a little less crisp. The garlic Parmesan was good but felt that the flavor could have been a bit better. The mild were much better with the perfect amount of sauce and not too spicy-just good flavor without too much heat. The large cups for blue cheese were fantastic, most often the cups are too small and you go through multiple but the large cup made it plenty for 10 wings. We got mixed drinks and were shocked they came in pint glasses. Strong drinks and good wings. Bar tender was attentive and kind. Wings came out quickly. In downtown Buffalo and wanted to get some wings because, well, it's Buffalo. Union Pub was a short walk from the hotel so I figured I'd check it out. So glad I did. At the suggestion of the very attentive bartender I got wings with the Jester Sauce. Hard to explain but they were like a hot, bbq and garlic parm combo? Not even really sure how to explain it other than that they were easily the best wings I've ever had . The place is no frills which is perfect and exactly what I was looking for. If I'm ever in Buffalo again, I will 100% be back to the Union Pub. read more

I hereby agree with the number of reviewers who say these are the best wings in Buffalo. After getting an order of 10 wings the night after a Bisons game - and they were calling themselves the Wings that night, I must note - well, here's what I have to say. Sauce: Not thin, not tasting Tabascoey like some "Buffalo" style sauces. I asked for the extra hot, and it came out reddish instead of pale orange. Deep flavor mixed in with the extra kick of heat. It was the perfect kick for me and rock solid buffalo flavor. Wings (and legs): Quite meaty. Not a broken bone in the lot. Rock solid meat for your money. Sides: Bleu cheese dip I'm pretty sure is made in-house. It was smooth and cheesy with a gigantic chunk of bleu cheese in the middle of the dip. I had my celery with the dip for dessert to avoid diluting the perfect sauce on each wing, and it was the perfect dessert. Union is a local-style pub. Darker place, limited beer selection with only a couple of locals/crafts, not a lot of room, but not a ton of crowd after the ballgame. I think most visitors and tourists either eat in the stadium or hit up a more famous place like Anchor or Duff. But right across the street from the stadium is my new frontrunner for best Buffalo wings anywhere. Oh, and I did find one local beer to wash them down, so really Union hit on all counts. read more

Upon receiving my order there was a combination of pita bread and tostitos (no mention of tostitos on the menu). Little gem near the arena Downtown. Great to catch a pint and some food before a hockey game. I had the garlic Parm which were great! Crispy and cooked perfect. The maple bacon glass was a big hit with daughter, also cooked perfect. The loaded fries I had were ok, prob would pass next time. Some people around me got Burgers and they looked fantastic. Made me wish I ordered one. Service was outstanding and my fav bartender in the Buffalo area, Billy works here. He is worth a visit alone for his humor and service. We wanted to try someplace new to us. So we did. Fish fry was just okay tonight. Liked the taste of the cole slaw, but was a little swimmy. Didn't think to take pic until half gone, but looks about how it looked when untouched, a bit too much dressing. Fries: a ton of them, but all soft and wilty. Whoever invents a takeout container for fish fry will be richer than she who builds a better mouse trap. Somebody needs to get on it. Fish was delish, but one of the greasier versions. I was close by at one Seneca for jazz on the plaz. Decided to get a fish fry. I was here less than a week ago and had a good time. Typical buffalo bar friendly boisterous bunch. I ordered a hazy little ipa from the bartender and was called by name by Megan who was quick to find me a seat. I had a choice of buttered broiled or Cajun broiled fish as well as traditional fish fry. I went with the Cajun broiled and very happy that I chose. I prefer restaurant made Cajun seasoning because mass produced is too salty. This did not disappoint very little saltiness and a nice kick of spice heat. I upgraded the french fries with cheese and bacon and the other accompaniments of tartar sauce Cole slaw were good. The Mac salad was very dry which to my liking was not a bad thing. For dessert I enjoyed a young lion ipa. I thought the food and service were great I could become a regular and according to yelp I already am. Good times read more

I've passed by this place multiple times but never tried them until today, but I will definitely be back! It's a pretty low key place across from the baseball stadium. I'm told they are usually super busy during baseball season. But during COVID they were only doing take out, and as of now they are doing social distancing inside. So I went in and tried my luck. I sat at the bar and my bartender Billy was AWESOME! He was funny, kept everyone entertained, and the majority of ppl that were here were regulars waiting for them to open again and see him. I figured now was a better time than any to try them. I started with the hot stuffed pepper dip. They are making everything to go even if you are staying in to eat which is convenient and sanitary. The dip comes with tortilla chips as well as pitas. It was soooooo good. A nice blend of spice and cheese! For my meal I got the Fatty Penguin which is shaved Angus steak, mozzarella sticks, marinara, sauteed onions, banana peppers, mozzarella cheese in a grilled wrap. It was AMAZING!!! It came with fries and for my dip I got the jester sauce (garlic parm with hot bbq sauce). Soooo amazing! You can also get this as a wing sauce! (Definitely my plan for my next visit) I definitely will be back again. I have to try their wings which caught my eye. I also want to try the jalapeno popper burger along with the "heart attack appetizer" which my friend named it lol. It's really called the Transit Log which are pizza logs wrapped in bacon, then slathered in bbq sauce, then grilled . This is probably my new favorite place! We looked online for a local place to visit during our first trip to Buffalo. Union Pub is absolutely the real thing. Quaint, authentic and purely local. The service was first-class. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. All of the patrons were friendly and welcoming. But the very best part is the food. Without a doubt the best chicken wings we've ever had and the flavor options were interesting and broad. The wings were clearly made from fresh, never frozen, ingredients and they took 20-25 minutes to make because every order is made from scratch. So, to start this out on a high note, when myself and my coworker came in for dinner on a Monday night everything seemed great. Wings and burgers were fresh and fantastic. But, things took a turn at the end of the night. A man at the end of the bar ordered some wings, and when they came out he asked for a side of hot sauce. Pretty normal so far, right? When the bartender (4+ shots in at this point) turned around to walk back to the kitchen for the sauce he decided to call that customer a "fu**ing a**hole". When the bartender came back out and the customer asked what he'd said, the bartender decided it would be a good idea to engage in a screaming match with said customer. That customer eventually had enough and left, the bartender decided he'd turn to me. The bartender, rather loudly and obnoxiously, decided to ask me why I didn't chime in and tell the customer that he certainly didn't say what he thought. I decided that since I was on a business trip, and just wanted to eat, that I wouldn't involve myself. Apparently that was the wrong decision. In the next 5-10 minutes before he decided to give me my check, your bartender decided he would scream at me that I wasn't, quote, "a decent white guy", and that I should've had his back in the argument. The same argument that I was nowhere near involved in. After several more minutes of being yelled at, insulted, and made to feel that his argument with another customer was my responsibility, the check did come, and was paid. Not before having one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had. read more

First time to the Union Pub today for lunch. Walking in the first thing I noticed was how clean it is and it's 100 percent Covid compliant. We love the ceilings! Friendly staff, Jay is very welcoming and goes above and beyond for his customers. The menu has something for everyone. I got the special. A roast beef and cheddar with caramelized onions served with a side of tater tots. It had amazing flavor and was cooked perfectly. My friend got the BLT. The bacon was out of this world! Ooey gooey sweet bourbon deliciousness on toasted bread with lettuce tomato and cheese served with a side of freshly cut fries done to perfection. The food was complimented by a cold Hayburner for each of us. They have a fish fry that I'm dying to try and they are serving it up every day during Lent so we will be going back next week for sure!
