If you're looking for cool live music off the beaten path, this is the place. I came here for the Vindy's show in June and had a nice time. There is mostly standing room for the venue, with some tables on the main level and a small balcony level for tables. I think everything was still walk-up service at the bar for that night. I didn't get any food and only had water to drink (stay hydrated!), but it looked like a pretty expansive menu for drinks. I was a little wary about the immediate surrounding area, since the streets immediately around the venue were cobblestone. This made it kind of hard to walk, when it wasn't super well lit. I was also confused by the parking arrangement in the area, since it seemed like the garage had some access restriction and the parking around the backside of the building also had confusing signage. This is not a criticism of the business whatsoever, just an important note for the other aspects of your visit. read more

Had a great night at Iron Works recently. Iron Works has a special place in my heart because that is where I saw my last show before the shutdown and my first show after the shutdown, and will always be associated with the importance of supporting live music and not taking live music for granted. Iron Works is an ideal venue in a lot fo way- not too big, not too small, and the perfect place for an intimate experience with a band you enjoy. Most recently we saw Caligula Blushed for their first visit to Buffalo. My other half has been a fan of The Smiths since forever, but we have stopped seeing Morrissey in concert. This was the next best thing to seeing Johnny Marr in concert. Great show, good crowd, not too crowded, and people were actually there to see the show unlike when we saw Nick Lowe at Iron Works and some people would not stop talking!! Post-pandemic, but also anytime, I have to say how incredibly wonderful it is to get fresh air during a show. The garage style door by the stage was open letting in some natural night and lots of fresh air on a cool night, which is really perfect for a show. I'm over crowded, stuffy, hot, and dark. The opening leads to an adorable patio with lots of tables, chairs, and string lights. There's a platform with seating and a little balcony with seating. There are lots places to set your drink whole dancing as the platform and pillars all have ledges. There are two selve-serve water coolers, which is also great to see. I tried a summer cocktail - a Loganberry Dirty Shirley, which was super sweet but that's what it's designed to be. A Coke was $3 and the cocktail specials were $10. Mocktails are $8 and there are other n/a offerings as well, along side beer, liquor, and what have you. They have a garden burger and fries on the menu, in addition to other meat and cheese foods. Tickets to this show were $12, which is so reasonable for a night out. This is more fun than going to the movies and should definitely be a go to if you want to get out of the house. Fresh air, water, seating...all this sets Iron Works apart. If you haven't been, go, and of it's been awhile, go back. My other half was reluctant to go out but was so glad he did. read more

For what it is, it's great. We came downtown for a sabers game. Game at 6 we got there a little after 4. Not crowded. Large drink menu and very reasonably priced (considering it's downtown.) Perfect pre-game spot. Limited food menu so don't come for a real meal. Also came to a silent disco here in the past. Versatile venue downtown. Owners do a great job with the spot. read more

The majority of business owners, high grossing employees, and financially overtaxed New Yorkers view 4/15 as a necessary evil. Not so, this April 4/15/2026... as we (best husband ever and me) had the utmost, gold star, VIP experience at Ironworks for the, "How Does If Feel? The Music of Bob Dylan and The Band," with Chest Fever and Tyler Bagwell. Perfect VIP Balcony seating, great food, and adult beverages, in addition to professional and accommodating servers. Classy in a welcoming, hometown, feel-good kind of way! We loved the performance and tribute to some of the best music of all-time. The keyboard player - Jody Bagley - was exceptional! We are now massive fans and followers! This review of one of Buffalo's prized music venues would not be complete without a 10-Star rating for Gracie Vesneske. Every customer service entity, venue, and business wishes and prays for someone like Gracie on their team! The price was reasonable, the service was outstanding, and the food was hot, tasty, and affordable. My friend's Band, Soul Street Band, played the venue and loved working with the staff. Great people, great location, and the best venue to enjoy a concert. I've been coming to Iron Works for years. They are hands down my favorite spot to enjoy an intimate performance from some of your favorite bands. Get there early as spots on the main floor fill up. There's always plenty of room at their super long bar to quickly grab a drink and head to the main stage, second floor, or out to their outdoor patio. Grave and Josh are the absolute best! When they aren't hosting some unforgettable bands you can catch them rallying for some awesome local charities and helping out with some great local events like the 'Makers & Shakers' market at the powerhouse. read more

I attended the Dave Matthews Tribute Band show on April 11. The band was outstanding. I'd advise anyone who likes Dave Matthew to see them. The $20 ticket price was more than worth it. On the other hand the facility had a rough night. A number of the beer and alcohol brands were sold out and it was early in the evening when it began to happen. How can they not anticipate the required amount of alcohol when the majority of the tickets sold were pre-sale. There were few walkups. It was the talk of the many of the customers. They definitely need to plan for crowds better. read more

Been here a few times to catch a show-always the Talking Heads cover band, Start Making Sense. Reminds me of a smaller Water Street Music Hall back in Rochester NY. Industrial setup with decent sound, average beer, but really, should anyone complain now that Covid restrictions halve eased and we can see LIVE MUSIC AGAIN?!? I'll answer that-NO! We stopped at Iron Works just before a Sabres game and it was packed! For it to be so busy, service at the bar was still relatively efficient. The have a cute taco stand right near the entrance, so we ordered some because we weren't too sure if they actually had a different menu with servers and stuff. I got two chicken tacos which were delicious! My husband got a burrito and he loved his dish as well. The workers at the taco stand were super friendly and quick. The food was all very fresh and it was inexpensive as well. The only downside of eating there is that because it was so packed, it was standing room only, so we had to hover over the hostess stand to eat our food. (It's a good for Iron Works though because it's such a popular spot!) When all is said and done, I really enjoyed my time there and I will be back for sure! read more

This is one of those places that's just "meh" for me. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either! I only really go to Iron Works to catch a show, I'm never there after an event at the arena (which it is super close to!). I've seen a few concerts here and I've been to a few Transmission Dance parties, those have always been great. The sound is awesome and there's lots of room to move around. I've never had anything off of their food menu, but their drinks are always great! Reasonably priced, I can't say I've ever spent more here than I would at other bars. I've had mixed experiences with the staff here. The bartenders are always super kind and courteous. Staff assigned to be security have given my friends and I a hard time over what I'd consider petty things - for instance, once I came here a few days after I turned 21, my friend was still underage, and the security badge flashed his badge at me and told me he'd throw me out the second I bought her alcohol. All I had done was walk through the door! I'll keep coming back if there's a good show, but I don't think I'd be here for any other reason. read more

I thought this was where they made golf clubs, I was wrong. It's actually a bar with expensive drinks (but everywhere is getting like that around downtown now), in the heart of the Cobblestone District. Their servers are super nice despite being hipsters (I'm kidding, hipsters can be nice too), and extremely friendly. I've been here twice now. Once during a festival, they let me have free buffet food (provided by Chef's) because they're so nice. Both times I was here there was live music, including a band performing out in the street at the festival. I think it's great when places put on live music and they deserve lots of credit for that. It adds to the culture and atmosphere of the "resurgence" (no pun intended) of Buffalo. read more

Buffalo Iron Works is an A-OK place to catch a show. While I haven't perused much or of the food or drink menu, I've enjoyed seeing some bands here and think it's an incredible venue. I think it has so much potential to be a destination and pull more people if they only improved all the little things by 10%. Improve the food a little, tone down the drink prices to be reasonable to attract more volume and BAM - this place will be hopping, people will be happier and the venue would be making more money. The ambiance here is nice and it's a pretty darn good venue to catch a show. The time I came here, unfortunately the men's bathroom was out of soap and that was really unsanitary and uncomfortable, otherwise it would probably be a 4-star review. Care just a little bit more and this place will be hopping all the time. The venue and location are great. read more

Saw the Canadian band Sloan last night here...it sits next to the HSBC Center (Sabres), but it's kind of a mix of old Buffalo. Cobblestoned street, a bakery, some lofts, and the Iron Works. A nice beer selection (5 dollar cans of Labatts...sort of Mother's milk out here..), but also an array of the plentiful Western NY micros including the Big Ditch Hayburner (local IPA..nice n hoppy too). The crowd was fantastic...sort of a mix of locals and Canadians who made the jaunt across the Peace Bridge (which sits about a mile from the venue). A little pricey for the ticket (36...30 plus a 6 dollar service charge..ouch) but will definitely come back here on the next trip if there is something of interest playing..would come for the beer alone and good conversation. Nice people there..but that's just Buffalo. read more

We came out for a well-attended Monday evening show at Buffalo Iron Works featuring the Finnish metal bluegrass band, Steve 'n' Seagulls with ClusterPluck as the opener. Went here last night to see a California band perform, Beware of Darkness. This place is located in the Cobblestone district. They have a lot next door for no charge parking. It was full, so thankfully I parked on the street for free. We walked into a very cool venue. Lots of old wooden beams, metal pipes, and brickwork. Because I was only there for a concert I can't speak to the food, but the bar service was great, with at least 3 bartenders working. Beer is not cheap, anywhere from $4 to $6. The sound was really good for the show. The stage is elevated nicely from the floor so everyone can easily see the performers. I like this place, and would come back in a heartbeat. read more

Pretty cool place. They did a great job renovating this place. The atmosphere, decor, and sound system is really inviting even from the outside. The front door man or bouncer was very friendly and the bartenders were nice too. The poutine was delicious. It was my first time trying it so I can't rate how good it is compared to other poutines. Lol I just wish the portions were a little bigger. A bag of potatoes isn't that pricey, so to give you another handful of those potato fries shouldn't be a problem. But oh well. Still tasty! I hope to go back soon and try more! As for beers on tap, there's not much. I think it was mostly the "piss beers" ... Rolling rock, labatt blue, blue light, and flying bison. Oh yeah! And the kitchen closed at midnight! Luckily we had just got there about 10 minutes earlier and heard them shout it out. Strange cause their website says the kitchen is open the entire time the place is open. read more
