Another Friday, another fish (&chips) fry. Banshee had a classic Buffalo fish fry but I went for the Irish favorite fish & chips. They have both on their regular menu so you don't need to wait for Friday. The dish was fresh and delicious, the beer batter light and crunchy. The chips though are the highlight for me. I love their crispy flatness. The service was excellent even for a very busy St. Patrick's weekend early evening when Riverdance is playing just up the street. Keep in mind bar area can be raucous if there's sports on, but you can get a quiet table if you reserve in advance. But, sure have a pint of the dark stuff with your dinner. read more

We haven't been to a more authentic Irish Pub in Buffalo. On this particular visit, we decided to come here on a Sunday morning for an Irish breakfast. This was very similar to the ones we had in Ireland. As it was a Sunday morning, it was almost empty, though Im sure it was very busy and happening the previous night. The service was great, the staff was friendly, the prices were reasonable, the place was clean, and we loved the ambiance of the place. We definitely need to visit here more often. read more

Chicken pot pie can be hit or miss. Get to the Banshee if you want some that hits! I loved the deconstructed take on traditional pot pie. The "filling" was thick and flavorful. The puff pastry that served as the "crust" was crispy and airy. A must have! read more

It was a long day and we didn't feel like cooking dinner so we opted to try somewhere new for takeout. Since it was Pretzel Day, my wife really wanted a soft pretzel. After a couple minutes, we realized Banshee was our best option. I called and ordered our food. They said about 30-45 minutes since it was the dinner rush. No worries there! Plus I think there was a show at Shea's happening too so understandably busy. I showed up to pick up the food and one of my favorite Irish songs was playing. Super great service and a great vibe every time I am here. I got the Banshee burger and it was SO GOOD. The burger was cooked perfectly and had a really good flavor to it. The lettuce and onion were fresh and gave it a nice texture. Their chipotle ketchup is delicious here too. And I love the fries that they have here. They're so good with the pepper and salt added to them. My wife had the pretzel and it was HUGE even chopped up to fit in the container. The mustard and cheese are so good. Usually you get the nacho cheese out of a container or bag with a soft pretzel but these both tasted like they were made fresh. We also got a slice of the Bailey's cheesecake but it was so good we didn't even have a chance for a picture. Probably one of the best cheesecakes I've had. Very creamy and had a great flavor that made you wonder how much Bailey's was really in it. Haha Overall, I have always loved Banshee for their vibes, beer, and brunch but now I'm going to have to add dinner to the list too. My friends and I went to a movie at the AMC a few streets over today, and beforehand we decided to find a place to grab a bite to eat. We were seated fairly quickly, and while our waitress didn't have much of a personality, she was pleasant. Our problem was the food was very overpriced and was quite bland. We had the chicken tenders which could not have been pounded thinner. I had a grilled chicken sandwich which had no flavor at all, and we also had potato skins which were a bit undercooked. We like trying new places and don't regret trying it, but we will not be back. read more

Beef on weck was amazing! The fries were even better! Something about the way the fries were cut made for the perfect side! Twice as good as a chip and three times as good from a normal cut fry. As far as my main dish of BoW, the flavor was all there-horseradish and dip made for a perfect combo and my meat was extremely tender! The mule was delicious and refreshing as well. The other winner this night was the shepherds pie...looked amazing and tasted even better! Perfectly layered with beef, veggies, and topped with potatoes it made for the perfect winter dish! The Banshee had an amazing atmosphere and even had the U2 cover band playing that night right upstairs. It was lively with the fun Irish pub feel. Stopped here for a cocktail after a brunch nearby on a chilly Sunday afternoon. There were three of us and we were promptly greeted by the proprietor and directed to a cozy table in front of a gas fireplace on the first floor. The pub wasn't very busy and many of those already there were gathered around a large central bar watching soccer. The establishment has had quite a few updates recently. So this review is a follow up to a review I posted back in the fall of 2023 in which I said the quality of food had gone way down and the food took a very long time to get. We went back on Tuesday before a show at Sheas and only because the owner/manager had sent a gift certificate to make up for our experience last time. Very happy we went back. The quality of the food was back to where it used to be. Probably one of the best crocks of French onion soup we've ever had. Steak sandwich was delicious and juicy and the meatloaf was hearty. Our server was friendly and attentive despite being short staffed. I will say... you need to leave a bit more time than you may think if you have somewhere to go after, but the atmosphere is rustic and fun, so just have a drink from the bar. Had a great time here with friends! Went bowling nearby and wanted something cozy to eat so we decided to give The Banshee a try. I do love a beef on weck so I have this one a go. The beef was a little dry but it was still very yummy. Fries were nice and crispy. There was live music happening when we arrived which just added to our adventure of a day. Loud atmosphere, major Irish pub feels, and a nice cocktail list as well. Also brings on big nostalgia for Buffalo kids who spent any time on the roof at Skybar. What a time to be alive. Went there for st. Patrick's day. Couldn't be more pleased. We had a reservation and got seated immediately. Service was fast and friendly and the food was out of this world. I think I'd sell my soul for more sticky toffee pudding. If you want an idea of their service I watched a man straight up slap a glass of beer out of the waitresses hands (he was a hand talker and it was an accident) and into the wall. She was super kind about it and someone (a manger or owner) came over and immediately changed out everything and cleaned everything up while the server got a new beer. Everyone was kind and quick about it and had I not happened to catch it out of the corner of my eye. they were so discrete Idt I would have. As a table we tried the Sheppards fries, the corned beef and cabbage, corned beef sandwich and sticky toffee pudding and all were incredible. Definitely will be back! read more

Why wouldn't I visit an Irish bar during St Patricks Day weekend..what else does one do in Buffalo? Stopped in for a bite to eat and some Irish music. The Facebook posts prior to arriving seemed to confuse a few of us with when reservations were being taken and not. So we did show up with no reservations available seeing as we thought it was first come first serve. We did luck out and find a spot at the bar with one stool to at least order some dishes and grab some drinks. There were so many bartenders working for the busy weekend yet long waits to even get a menu or drink. Ended up ordering the Shepard fries, chicken fingers, and Irish potatoe skins. Shepard fries was like a Shepard pie on top of a bed of skinny steak fries with melted cheese. It was delicious!! Chicken fingers were thick but a little on the small side but the potatoe skins made up for the portion. These things were huge! Food and beer was good and crisp. After eating we made our way outside to the band. Obviously a winter day in Buffalo, we know has a chance of being chilly. In past they used to have plastic walls around the patio with the big heaters. The heaters are still there but definitely were not on. Formally Darcy McGees , this Irish pub on Chippewa was our dinner club spot for the month of March . I sat at the bar for a couple of beers before our entire party arrived , then we were led to a cozy area near a bookshelf and a fireplace . As a last minute request , I did ask for separate checks for all of us . She was a bit unsure if she could accommodate it , but she actually did quite well separating the bills. I ordered an Irish Specialty , Shepherds pie . It came piping hot with a generous portion of creamy potatoes . I could have used a bit more gravy, but it hit the spot .
