    Shoe String French Fries
    Amanda T.

The man at the counter was so welcoming and we got our pick of a table or bar seat. The bar was clean and had cute kitschy decor you'd associate with a good Irish neighborhood bar. It took literally 2 minutes for the kitchen to make our sandwich... We shared a beef on weck, which was fabulous and smothered in au jus. The thin, crispy fries "went crazy" and went well with the plentiful Weber's mustard and ketchup available. The guy at the counter was so friendly and even gave us a special house-made treat for free!! For anyone who remembers "Christmas crack" (crackers baked with sugar and chocolate on top) from TikTok, it's exactly that and really hit the spot after the savory meal. Check out Eddie Brady's for a spectacular meal and beer!

Stopped by Eddie Brady's Tavern for the first time, and it was a great experience! The food was fantastic. I tried the classic Beef on Weck and the Reuben, and both were incredible. The beef on weck was tender and juicy, paired perfectly with the salty kummelweck roll, while the Reuben was packed with flavorful corned beef, tangy sauerkraut, and melted Swiss, all on perfectly grilled rye. You can tell they take pride in their sandwiches. The ambiance is exactly what you'd expect from a bar, casual and no-frills. But it's a great spot for lunch if you're looking for a quieter, less rowdy crowd during the day. Service was friendly too! Eddie Brady's is definitely worth a visit if you're craving hearty, classic sandwiches. Can't wait to come back!

Fish fry with fries, Mac salad and coleslaw

Went to Eddie Brady's to try the fish fry on Friday. It was busy but we got seats at the bar and ate there. Service was quick. It's small in there so be prepared to maybe wait a little on a busy night. The fish fry came with Mac salad (which was really good!) coleslaw and lots of fries. Gotta give it 5 stars since service was quick and food was good! Big portions as well.

    Reuben and onion rings

Had the Reuben with onion rings and the New England clam chowder. Reuben came out hot and the onion rings were not over breaded. The chowder was very good. Plenty of clams with fresh red potatoes and celery. Not too thick. Tavern was very clean.

Spicy veggie quesadilla, Octoberfest beer, that cool cash register and of course, PATRICK!

Looking for a place to grab a beer and a quick bite without spending a lot, and Eddie Brady's was perfect! Love the older buildings, tin ceilings, dark wood, and a gorgeous ancient cash register. Patrick was behind the bar, took my Vegetarian quesadilla order and it was served quickly. One of the best I've had, nice and hot, came with spicy dipping sauce and crammed with veggies (and Jalapenos!) Want to go back again when I'm attending a concert downtown - and try the fish fry! Skip the fancy, pricey joints and try them instead. You won't be disappointed!!

Great neighborhood pub in the heart of downtown Buffalo. We really enjoyed our roast beef sandwiches. They were tender and served on a soft Kimmelweck roll with a choice of French fries, onion rings or pasta salad (With no up charges). We really appreciated having the pasta salad choice as to not have something fried. The onion rings were lightly tossed with batter and tasted great. The French fries were of the shoe string variety and served crisp. They had a limited selection of draft beer the evening we went, but had several bottles to choose from too. We really enjoyed the bar room popcorn too. There is a brighter dining room that is separated from the bar area in the back . There is only street parking or a paid parking lot. We had a pleasant evening and would recommend it for a low key evening out or meal.

We both had the Beef on Weck. Service was by the bartender who worked ten tables with efficiency and a gruff Irish friendliness. The beef was properly done and tasty, but not completely hot. The au jus unfortunately overly soaked the bottom side of the properly seeded kimmelweck roll. (Should have been served on the side.) Our Buffalo sandwich was served with hot shoestring fries, a fat dill pickle and a stingy sampling of good enough horseradish. The beer was nice and cold from a wide selection of drafts and bottles in a bar that was super clean and located just a block or two from the theater district. Four stars, but not five.

I had beef on weck and wings. Food wasn't great. Service was not good. Don't understand how this place has earned high ratings.

I've been on somewhat of my own personal wing tour lately and I'm glad we tried Adolf's. We came on a Monday, which is their wing special night, 75 cent wings. We arrived a little before the 5:00 PM rush so we sat right at the bar, ordered and behold, the wings were in front of us in about 5 minutes! Service was very fast and friendly. We ordered hot, and the level of heat was exactly what hot is supposed to be. Saucy, but not swimming in excessive sauce. The wings were crispy outside and juicy inside, that elusive perfectly fried wing. We opted for the homemade blue cheese, and while I liked it, I found it didn't have a strong blue cheese flavor. But they do have two choices of blue cheese type. Carrots and celery were included, not always the case with wing night specials. I would call these elite level, top 10 in Buffalo wings, maybe even top 5. The only reason that I did not score 5 stars was that there we 7 drums and 3 flats - and I am a flat guy. This usually works out well because my wife likes the drums, but this time they definitely skewed in my wife's favor. If it were not the wing special night, I might have said something, but the wings were so good I did not want to register a complaint about the lack of flats. We also ordered the hand cut fries which were hot and excellent. We definitely plan to return.

I visit the city every year in the fall, and I am still trying all of the wing places that have been recommended. The latest on my list was Doc Sullivan's, a very, VERY local watering hole. This is the kind of place that makes you immediately remember that you are absolutely not from here, but in the best possible way. Doc's is a historic, no-frills neighborhood pub smack in the heart of South Buffalo's Irish Heritage district. The second we walked in as clearly obvious outsiders, the entire room of rough-and-tumble regulars seemed to pause their conversations, turn towards the door, and stare at us. Even the bartender (who also doubled as the host and our waiter) clocked us immediately with a cheerful, "Hey visitors!" It was hilarious and broke the awkwardness we were starting to feel. Everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming once the moment passed, but it was clear we stood out from the regular crowd. If you have an aversion to dive bars, this is not the place for you because Doc's is not fancy. It's well-worn and smells like Fabuloso cleaner mixed with stale cigarette smoke and old beer. I was surprised at how clean the place was, but it does have that dive bar smell and feel. I felt like I'd walked onto a movie set because this place screams Buffalo, and does so loudly and proudly. I'm not a fan of chicken wings, but my hubby is. Food-wise, he ordered a half dozen of the famous Smitty Wings at the suggestion of the bartender, which come coated in the house's unique spiced butter sauce along with a half dozen with hot sauce. He liked the Smitty wings fine, but preferred the classic hot Buffalo wings, which he said had legit heat and were "more than decent." Not his all-time favorite wings, but still tasty and meaty enough to earn his respect. I went with the buffalo chicken sandwich, which was massive. It was a fried chicken breast patty on a super soft, fresh roll with lettuce, tomato, and onions, tossed in a mild Buffalo sauce that had just enough heat for a timid spice girl like me. The quality was good, but not great, and it was basically the same chicken sandwich you can get at dozens of places around town (it was very similar to the same menu item at the Anchor Bar, for example). The fries were nothing special, and they tasted like regular old french fries you'd get at your local deli. They were freshly fried, hot and crispy, and we both appreciated that malt vinegar was already on the table. We had a good experience at Doc Sullivan's, but agreed that we would not go out of our way to eat here again. I wouldn't call it a must-do for foodies, but I'm still really glad we went. While the food wasn't all that memorable, it felt like a true local Buffalo experience that you don't get at polished, tourist-friendly spots. This is the place if you want to soak up local character and are seeking another stop on your buffalo wing eating tour.

The restaurant was really cool .... But The wings tasted liked they fried in the same oil as fish and it was just of putting. We don't live close so the chance I trying them again will probably be rare.

We were greeted right away when we walked in, which was a great start. However, after being seated on the patio, we waited about 20 minutes before a server came over. Drinks also took quite a while to arrive. I ordered a brown sugar bourbon cocktail, but it was disappointing--basically just tasted like straight bourbon with little to no flavor. For food, I tried the Reuben poutine appetizer ($20). Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the price. The cheese seemed very processed--hard to even describe, and definitely not what I expected. The fried Reuben itself was just okay, but overall it felt overpriced for what it was. In the end, I wouldn't necessarily discourage someone from trying it, but it's not somewhere I'd personally return to. The experience just didn't match the cost or leave much of a positive impression.

Sure, it was good... but Doc's knocked by socks off. I went here on a recommendation from the staff at a hotel that competes with the Best Western where Doc's is located, which is always a good sign for a hotel restaurant. Got the corned beef boxty, which is amazing. With the boxty fries, which were really good - much better than standard fries, in my opinion. And had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Heavenly. I actually went back two days later after dinner at another restaurant to have the sticky toffee pudding one more time. The atmosphere is very nice, like a pub should be, with good service from the bartender, music the second night I was there, and some good conversation with a fellow traveler from London (Ontario). The odds are high that I'll be back. If you're looking for somewhere to burn all the delicious calories, my suggestions are the Niagara River Recreation Trail (from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake) and the Niagara Gorge Hiking Trails. Three and a half out of five for Doc's matches. They burn well, and are a cool souvenir, but it's difficult to strike them on the side of the box. Still useful to have around the house where I can strike them on the side of another box, but not ideal for a retro night out on the town.

We really enjoyed the live music--it definitely added to the vibe, though it did make chatting a bit tricky at times. That said, the sets were short and added a fun touch to the evening. We started with a few appetizers, and everything hit the spot--the cauliflower bites were tasty, the spinach dip was solid, but the star was definitely the Reuben Bites--absolutely delicious! For mains, my wife ordered the mac and cheese and loved the depth of flavour--you can really taste the leeks, which was a nice twist.
