Love the Wellington! My family and I go a handful of times a year. Something for everyone even the kids. The kids pizza they let them customize with whatever toppings they want and they even accommodate my little one who loves pineapple and ham pizza! All the sandwiches are good but notable is the pub club, the hot roast beef, and the wraps for us. Wings are great here! Servers are always nice and it had a really homey local feel. When you have out of town visitors you should always bring them to local establishments to try their food. Especially places like the Wellington who are usually highly recommended. Having never been it was a welcoming experience, it had that cozy watering hole vibe and the staff got us on the waitlist quickly. So we got a couple drinks at the bar, and had a nice conversation with a regular while we waited. We got some medium wings, (could have used more sauce/a touch dry,a bit undercooked) , the chicken fingers were cooked okay though, as were the pizza logs. Family dinner after our granddaughters basketball game. Perfect place for the young teens as well as the adults. This place is really bar that also serves fairly decent quick food. Our server was really good. She showed us adults the beer menu to choose from. The food menu really specializes in burgers and that is what most of us had. The younger kids had chicken fingers of some sort. All the food was tasty. We ordered a couple of baskets of fries which was more than adequate for the table. When we left, we were all satisfied with no room for dessert even if they had it. Not a fancy place by any means. Almost any attire is appropriate. Wow what is happening at Wellington pub. Prices are outrageous. $17 for a chicken sandwich with just chips. $19 for a fish fry and only about 8 French fries and no eggs on the potato and Mac salad. This is ridiculous it was $48 to each a sandwich and a piece of fish. What happened with the new owner? Won't be going back unless changes are made. We have been going for almost 30 years. read more

I pass by this spot all the time but never checked it out until now! I would say this is some of the best pub grub I have had so far in the North Buffalo area. My friends swore by the French onion soup but instead, I opted for the Greek chicken wrap. The wrap was chocked full of filling. Unfortunately, I felt that the flavoring was a little off and bland. I had to use a lot of salt and pepper. I also had a Downeast cider which was really good! I would highly recommend it. Parking can be a bit of a hassle because it's street parking only but I wouldn't mind coming back. read more

My husband and I shared a chicken quesadilla. It comes in 4 sections, each a good size. I actually had to use a knife and fork as there was a lot of filling and I did not want to drop all of the good morsels that were inside. The quesadilla was also very hot, right off the grill hot. It was filled with a good amount of chicken bites, chopped red peppers, onions, pepper jack and cheddar cheese. Pico de gallo and sour cream are on the side. I was pleasantly surprised that our party of 6 was led to a back room. The front room is quite crowded and a table for 6 would have been a problem for the wait staff to walk around. The back room is also much quieter, even after the other tables back there started to fill up. The restaurant was very busy for a Thursday night, possibly due it being the beginning if the Sweet Sixteen in the college basketball championships. read more

When you walk in the front door, the pub looks very small. The bar area is indeed kinda small, but the room next to it has about 10 tables and, surprise, there is a much quieter back room. We were with a group of 6 but that was no problem. We got a table in that back room. The friendly waitress took our drink orders immediately and delivered them soon after. She took our food orders and the food showed up fast too. My wife and I decided to share a chicken quesadilla, that was served in 4 sections. After visiting a relative at ECMC , I decided to check out this Hertel Ave restaurant with my cousin because I heard they had a great fish fry . There was a 15-20 min wait, so we just headed next door for a quick cocktail since their bar was jam packed ! Our name was called after 20 min , but we still had to wait 10 more minutes , as somehow the staff lost track of our table . Kind of weird , but we were eventually seated . We decided to split a fish fry and also an order of garlic bread with cheese . Our food showed up pretty quickly. ( thankfully , cause I was starved) While the garlic bread was nothing spectacular, the fish fry was delicious. A crispy fish with curly q fries and salads that tasted homemade (although I would have liked a bigger portion of them ) . Could I have found the best chicken fingers in Buffalo? It's a definite possibility. Had a hankering for some chicken fingers and decided to order take out from Wellington at the recommendation of social media. I was NOT disappointed in my food, to say the least. Ordered a single order of fingers (plain, because I really wasn't in the mood for anything spicy) and a side of fries. The single order comes with 6 fingers, but they snuck in an extra for me which I very much appreciated. A single order is priced at about $11 which is a very fair price! The chicken fingers were crisp and I loved the breading. Even though I ordered them plain, they had a lot of flavor and I really loved them. The fries were seasoned well and crispy too! Knocking off a star for the less-than-stellar pick-up experience I had, but it was a Saturday evening after all so I can't be too critical. I don't know what took so long to visit Wellington Pub, I mean I've been living in Allentown for the past few years! My friend and I both got vaccinated and wanted to catch up after over 5 months of being apart, so we chose to meet on Hertel Ave. Unfortunately, due to the capacity restrictions, restaurants in the area either have very long weights or have temporarily shut down. We were not looking for anything over the top - we just wanted to sit down for a good lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Luckily, Wellington was open for business and we decided to give it a try! When we walked in, the bar had plenty of people seated and they looked like they were having a good time. They have a separate dining room with multiple tables which are obviously spaced out - we managed to grab the last table! The menu is a typical pub menu with burgers, sandwiches, drinks, etc. There were a few families there mixed with an older crowd, which was nice to see. I ordered the Reuben sandwich - YUM. My friend ordered another sandwich called "The Hertel" which looked delicious. Both of our meals came with a free side of chips; fries were offered for a small fee, but we stuck with the chips. We were both pleasantly surprised with the great service and delicious food. Of note, it is a sports bar, so there are a good number of televisions if you visit for a Bills or Sabres game. For desert, I ordered a coffee (came out great, actually) and my buddy decided to order a dessert - he ordered a brownie serviced with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I guess he felt like spoiling himself since he was unemployed for the longest time before he finally got his dream job! Woo! Wellington Pub is a great option for a small group or a young family if you need to have lunch or dinner. It is also a great spot if you want to watch sports while sipping on a cold beer.
