We got takeout from Wellington last night. Everything was packaged well and still hot. I got a Reuben and it was huge, with thick cut corned beef and all the requisite toppings. My daughter thought her mushroom burger was good, though slightly under-seasoned. My other daughter got a salad with grilled chicken, which was huge and fresh. The sides of fries and cherry peppers were also good, though I probably wouldn't get them again as a separate item. We originally ordered take out to try the fish fry, not realizing they didn't have fish except Fridays, so we'll have to try them out again for our Great Fish Fry Quest of 2021. read more

This place is soo good. I'd highly suggest getting a fish fry they're one the best I've ever had. The fish is huge, big sides and great on tap beer choices. They have a large back room for seating that you can't see when you enter so if it looks packed ask before leaving! It's well worth the wait! read more

Best wings in Buffalo. I've been to Duff's, Anchor Bar and the new fad Bar Bill. This place has the best medium wings and garlic parm in all of western New York. Went here for the first Friday of Lent and I was not disappointed. Parking was a bit of an issue, but when we got inside, there was no wait. That was a huge relief as we had plans afterwards. As for the food, the fish was crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside. It was not bland and "airy" like a lot of beer battered fish fries tend to be. Coleslaw was rich and creamy, and the "potato salad" (if you could call it that, it was more of a loaded mashed potato) was something I would definitely recommend. Although, it did contain bacon, which defeats the purpose of Lent, but the server did mention that to us up top, which was nice. The only thing my fish fry was missing was the french fries, which I did have from someone else's plate and they were nothing special. The price of the food was pretty standard, $13 for a fish fry and $5 for a French Onion soup, which I would also highly recommend. However, the drinks may have been a little overpriced. It was $6.50 for a pint of Sam Adams Cold Snap, which most restaurants usually charge $3-$4 as their season beer or beer of the month. Overall I could say I will definitely be back here to try some of the other food on their menu. One of my favorite places. I moved out of the area twenty six years ago, but every time I come home for a visit I come here. GREAT place in a wonderful area. Came in for a late dinner on Friday with husband and a few friends and really had an enjoyable experience! As soon as you walked in the door, you can smell the fish fry scent wafting around the place, which doesn't do it for me, but was enticing to a few members in my group! I ordered their chicken fingers with a side of seasoned curly fries, we had two fish fries at the table, a cup of French onion soup, an order of mozzarella sticks, and last but certainly not least, the monster burger- an 8oz burger, topped with bacon and Russian dressing, with a grilled cheese as a bottom bun AND as a top bun, and because he's ambitious, he ordered an egg on top. When they say monster, they mean monster! I also had a delicious cocktail, called "Buffalo Charm", that featured Bird Dog Peach Whiskey and tasted like what the end of a long work week should taste like! All of the food was great! Our friend who got the monster burger sat in a meat and cheese trance like state for most of the meal, and for each bite made a hilarious face trying to fit everything in to his mouth. MONDAY NIGHT WING REVIEW 2/10 - WELLINGTON PUB This was our first time visiting a bar on Hertel in the 14 months that our wing nights have been running! Wellington Pub has a reputation for having great wings so we thought that this would be a solid place to start. We planned to meet at 7:30 and the place was PACKED. There were 20ish seats at the bar and they were all full. We waited about 10 minutes for a table and the waitresses gave us multiple updates on the status of a table. At first we were sat at a 4 top with a 5th chair placed at the end. Due to how packed it was in there it was definitely a tight squeeze. I was back to back with the people sitting at the table behind us. Before ordering our wings a circular 6 top opened up and our amazing server Allie had no problem letting us move to that one instead. To our surprise they have 50 cent wings on Mondays and $2 Molson drafts! So this was the least amount every single one of us has spent on a wing night. No complaints there! Sweet Chili: perfect blend of sweet and spicy. I felt like these had more of a bite to them than the medium wings did. They were pretty sticky so it would've been nice to have some wet naps but I was content licking my fingers since the sauce was that good. I asked for extra crispy and would've liked if they were crispier but maybe the sauce took away some of the crunch. These were my number 2 for the night. Medium: more of a buttery medium sauce which Jeff was very happy about. I didn't think it had too much of a kick to it but I tried it after having my sweet chili so it was hard to differentiate the heat. I would have them again. Strawberry Balsamic: these were on special during our visit and if John hadn't ordered them, I would've for myself. I thought the sauce would've been sweeter since it was made with strawberry but it almost kind of reminded me of a bbq sauce. What bumped these ones up for me is that they were from the pit! It would've been nice if they had advertised that they were from the pit though since John is not a fan. I gladly helped him polish his off. Jerk: these were the winner for me! They were loaded with salt and pepper and other dry rub seasonings that I couldn't put my finger on. Some places that I've ordered jerk wings from have been insanely spicy so I was relieved that Wellington's weren't. They were nice and crispy and delicious and I will absolutely be back for more. Hot: I didn't try these myself since I'm a wimp but the guys said that they were spicy but not "hot hot". The hot sauce was less buttery than the medium and a nice standard hot. Shawn asked for extra crispy and they delivered! Chicken Wing Dip: I have never had a chunky chicken wing dip before so this caught me a bit off guard. It was made with chicken chunks, carrot cubes and celery. I was pleasantly surprised that the carrots and celery weren't crunchy. What I did love was how creamy the dip was, but it could've used more hot sauce. I wasn't a fan of the corn tortilla chips they paired it with. If I didn't get enough dip on a chip then I felt like the taste of the chip overpowered everything else. I would've preferred traditional restaurant style tortilla chips. French Onion Soup: if I wasn't there for wings I would've ordered 5 more bowls!! I think I've found the holy grail of French onion there are so many places that try to reinvent the wheel when it comes to this soup and they end up just ruining what makes it so great. I could order the broth by the gallon and drink it straight. The onion were cooked perfectly so they weren't mushy but also not "crunchy". The bread tasted amazing with the broth soaked into it but also didn't soak up too much. The cheese was nice and crispy on the edges and on top but soft and chewy underneath. Any time someone asks me where my favorite French onion is from my answer will be Wellington! Curly Fries: I loved the seasoning on the fries and they were cooked to perfection! At the end of our meal we asked Allie for separate checks and she said no problem with a smile. Most people would get annoyed and I felt bad for not letting her knows beforehand but she was absolutely amazing. The amazing quality of service we received was a huge topic of discussion for the remainder of the evening. My bill for French onion soup, chicken wing dip, a single order of wings, 1 beer and 2 shots was ONLY $34!!!! read more

We have been to try Wellington Pub and finally went tonight. We were delighted with our choice! The atmosphere at Wellington Pub is relaxing and bright. Our server Allie was very nice. Despite our food taking quite a while it was excellent and Allie also handled the situation very well. She went to check on our food when she came back and told us they didn't see the ticket and were rushing our food through. She gave us drink tokens and also brought out some rolls and chips to munch on while we were waiting. Once the food got to our table and we tasted our first bite we thought the food was outstanding. I had the steak sandwich called The Legend. It was two tenderloins on garlic toast topped with a stuffed hot pepper. AMAZING!! My dining partners had a bacon cheeseburger and The Wellington the signature sandwich of the restaurant. We all enjoyed our time at the Wellington and will be back very soon!! read more

Cool place to grab a wrap or some wings. They have popcorn at the bar which is the perfect non committal snacking food. We usually stop by after our soccer games and although we've gotten push back about putting a few of the outside tables together to accommodate us, they're usually pretty cool with our separate checks, to go orders, bar tabs and general shenanigans. Yes, that makes us "those" people. We always say thank you and make sure to tip. We're hoping this makes up for us being annoying? They make good burgers at a reasonable price. My burgers have always been well made, a perfect medium. Their dining room area is pretty large, they have a "secret" room that could be hard to find if you haven't been there before. It's towards the back of the dining room by the "coat check". From my experience, they use it for larger groups and families. It can get pretty loud back there. This place is pretty low key, nothing fancy, just awesome food. I only wish they had a more extensive beer selection. For a place with the word Pub in it, they have a pretty limited beer selection. Especially sad with Buffalo having so many good local beers to offer. read more

BLT was great but I got the sourdough bread toasted and it was like eating 3 bowls of captain crunch no milk so just be advised. I'll take fault on that I should've known better! After that it was down hill... 3 orders all the same opinion...the fish fry was soggy with oil, by soggy I mean it was saturated. The potato salad was lacking flavor as was the macaroni salad. I was very hungry but I had no idea where I wanted to go. I immediately thought 'fish fry!' then remembered Jody G's recent review of this pub! It's practically around the corner from my house so my fiance and I made out way down here. It's a little crowded and confusing when you walk in but we were seated shortly in the back of the restaurant. They give you some rolls to start out with which is awesome because I was extra hungry at this point. The menu is basically standard pub fare with lots of different sandwiches. (Next time I come I'm getting the fried chicken sandwich on a sage biscuit... yeah!) But I came with my eye on the prize- a fish fry. My fiance ordered the BBQ-blue burger, which had BBQ sauce, blue cheese, bacon and a beef burger. Service was a tad slow here which was more excruciating than normal because I was so hungry. When we got our food we were very happy. My fish fry was huge and it appeared that they breaded their own fish, skin on and not a perfect batter job. The fish was great, the fries were super greasy and the coleslaw was just okay. My fiance enjoyed his burger. It's a busy restaurant and a little dirty, but the food is good and the beer is pretty cheap so I'll definitely be back! read more

Just got back into Buffalo and stopped by Wellington Pub on Hertel for a couple of beers and some wings. Everyone knows when your in Buffalo everything revolves around beer, wings and go Bills. Started with some french onion soup. Really could have stopped there. Broth was delicious and so heart warming and filling. Then the wings came, crispy, spicy with "sabroso." Good lunch! Out server, Michelle, was very attentive. I had the special that was all things Buffalo. It had a mini beef in week, medium chicken fingers, and seasoned curly fries. I got Bleu cheese as a dip. It came with a Michelob ultra. Between my meal and the. Hertel Ave. Location, it was the most authentic Buffalo experience I could have had. I liked that. The place had a true pub feel and was just as "right" feeling in 2018 as i imagine it would have been in 1975. Delicious. read more
