Walked in on a recent week day evening and there was plenty of seating available, we were seated promptly and menus were provided immediately. They must have had just one cook in the kitchen because the food took over 20 mins to be delivered to our table even though the place was not even close to capacity. I would suggest skipping the fish and chips. While the piece of fish was pretty generous, the coating on the fish was overly thick and almost burnt and the fish (haddock) and batter did not taste very fresh and vibrant. The wings we ordered smelled funny and tasted off and almost seemed like the fryer oil had not been changed in a while or at least properly cleaned. Waitress was not friendly and rather dull. Overall just not a great experience. Service was bad, I understand places are short staffed doesn't excuse a bad attitude from the server. They were out of stuff for drinks on the menu even cans. The Bloody Mary was terrible. The food wait time was over an hour. Just not a place I'd revisit, spend your money at the many other great places in Buffalo. Wife and I stopped in for dinner before the Gregory Alan Isakov show. What a fantastic start to the evening. Our seats in the library nook of the pub was great. The Shepherd's Fries were an awesome starter. Beef on weck was spot on. Bangers and mash were delicious. Portions large enough on all to bring some home. A visit here is like walking into an authentic pub in Ireland. They have it all! Perfectly poured Guinness, a large selection of Irish whiskeys. A PERFECT traditional Irish coffee. The food is spot on! They consistently have live Irish music. My son goes to school in Buffalo and went here for drinks. He wanted us to see it so we went for dinner tonight. Decor and music were great. Our waitress was sweet. Appetizers were good. I ordered the mussels for my main meal. She came back and said they were out of mussels. So I ordered the seafood chowder instead. Well, what I got was NOT chowder. It was a flavorless broth with chunks of potato and some tiny shrimp and substandard mussels. My husband said something to the waitress and she said "yeah, our chowder is not creamy". I did not eat it. My husband had the 28 dollar steak which tasted ok but had a ton of gristle. We'd go for drinks and appetizers but never again For dinner. read more

I went to The Banshee Irish Pub for dinner yesterday before a show at Shea's 710 and loved it! A bunch of restaurants nearby are closed the entire day on Sundays, so we were excited to find a spot with a menu that fit what we wanted! The salmon was AMAZING, and we loved their cocktails. After several disappointing restaurant experiences during our 1st visit to Buffalo, we finally came upon this place. Everything was great. Draft beer was nice and cold- something I find is very rare these days-and the chicken pot pie was delicious, as was the shepherd's pie. The host was very friendly as he showed us to our table, the waitress was also very nice. Irish music playing in the background. I was dying to try the Bailey's cheesecake but simply had no more room. We had the bread pudding which was incredible. I had never even had this before. I'm sorry I'm back home because that means I won't be able to visit again! read more

The Banshee Irish Pub is a treasure in downtown Buffalo. It has a cozy vibe reminiscent of an old Irish pub in Dublin and the food is excellent. The staff is also very friendly and attentive. We have attended 2 concerts by the U2 tribute band, Desire, at The Banshee. It is a great venue to see a concert either inside in their 2nd floor concert hall or outside under the covered patio. We will definitely return for more great food and entertainment! read more

I really wanted to like this place. I was sooooo happy finding a place that had Magners cider on draft!!! The drinks we got were Magners and Guinness on draft that were both standard and good. We ordered the Irish sauce wings that was a whiskey curry sauce that we both loved and were not over sauced. When it came to our entrees they were fine. My husband got the corned beef dinner which was fine, not great, I didn't like the potatoes, but whatever, fairly standard, nothing special. I got the Banshee burger that I was so excited for..... it was over cooked as I ordered it medium rare and it was clearly cooked well done. The chipotle ketchup that is advertised on the menu was nonexistent which was really disappointing. I would have mentioned to our waitress as constructive feedback if she had presented to our table after we received our food.......but she unfortunately never returned. It was extremely sad as I have strong Irish heritage, have been to Ireland several times, and had high hopes for this place. Alas I am not saying I will never return, but our first trip left a severe disappointment. Edit!!!! I ran into the owner on the way out and was able to let him know my feedback. Also my husband made a great point that I would never return to a 3 star review so since I planned on returning to give another chance I increased from 3 to 4......honestly if it was an option I would give 3.5, but since not I will round up to a 4. read more

This place is great. Would recommend it 110%! Started coming to watch Newcastle United games with our very small supporters group. Other supporter groups come here too but they always make sure to have a spot for our modest group even when other "bigger" teams are playing. Plenty of room for each group to spread out and then come together to rub elbows or drown sorrows after the matches. I was so impressed that I set up a reservation for a bachelor party of 17 guys to get food and drinks before a hockey game. They seated us in a semi-private area near the bar (which had it own little miniature bar to sit and drink at). The staff was incredible! They churned out six pitchers of beer for us so quickly once we decided on where to start, all while taking other individual drink and food orders. Their whiskey selection impressed the whiskey guys in the group. The food got rave reviews throughout the group (especially the Rueben). Prices are fair and comparable to all other similar restaurants in the area. The staff was friendly, fast and extremely communicative with us and each other all night. As a former food service worker, I was amazed at their communication and ability to handle so many different things at once. What a team! This is a top flight place in every aspect. In the words of Marshawn Lynch - I spend a lot of time trying to figure out which I like more, the ambiance or the decor. I think COVID might have hurt some of the businesses in the area, due to people working from home versus working in town. a pleasant decor with very uncomfortable chairs, cold air vents right over our table, and very mediocre food our party of six was uniformly unimpressed with our food . the salmon was over-cooked - dry and bland. the accompanying steamed broccoli was just that - no lemon, butter, or any dressing. the "crispy" Brussel sprouts were mushy and over- sauced but at least had some flavor. the chicken pot pie was a crock of a bland soup with a big hunk of puff pastry on top. the folks that had mashed potatoes - including a former chef , thought they were dehydrated. the fish fry was dry and the chips were soggy. I've been to Ireland and this menu was typical pub food but it was poorly prepared. very disappointing experience read more

This was our first and last visit. Our reservation was at 430 and the place was not busy by any means. Jackson, the waiter, who said he worked there since it's opening, clearly had poor training. First our drinks were brought out 1 at a time. Next our appetizers were brought to the table and we didn't have any plates, the plates he brought were dirty. The waiter was taking so long to bring replacements that we asked the hostess and she took them to him in the kitchen to then bring them to us. Why? Our meals... oh, at this point my friend was still waiting on a glass of water, which he never did get, after asking for it twice. Jackson was approaching our table with 1 entrée, when asked if the others were going to follow immediately, he said yes they are. The other entrees did not follow right away and there my friend sat with her meal in front of her waiting for our meals to come. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. You would think that when an Irish pub describes its Shepard pie as having thick gravy it would. There wasn't any gravy at all. On to desserts... I asked Jackson what tart they were serving he said he would check. Upon checking, there wasn't one being served, "the kitchen didn't get one today". I ordered the bread pudding to find out the kitchen didn't make one today. Shouldn't the wait staff be aware that 2 of the few desserts on the menu aren't available? Sub par dinner for 4 $194. The atmosphere is great, the food this afternoon was not worth the effort to get there. The beef stew tasted burnt and had two chunks of meat with mostly potatoes for the price. It was served with a fruit style bread that seemed to be left over from a brunch place. If you're going to offer a fish fry in Buffalo, you have a lot of examples on how to do it. Maybe they are still getting the kinks worked out but it leaves a lot to be desired right now. read more

This place deserves 0 stars. The owner of this place is seriously insane. We had a few people come here around 12AM on Friday after celebrating a wedding in downtown Buffalo, and a couple of the guys were dancing to the music when the owner ran over in a very aggressive manner telling them they needed to stop dancing or we'll be kicked out. The guys (which were the bride's brother and cousin) were obviously confused about what they were doing wrong so they asked the owner what the issue was and he just responded with complete hostility and started having his security team kick the entire group out. I could tell the security team knew we were doing nothing wrong but were just trying to make the owner happy and decided to kick us out anyways. It was a terrible end to a wonderful day and we have never experienced such disrespect. Very disappointing, this had previously been one of our favorite places in Buffalo and was actually the bar where my fiancé and I first met but we will never be back here. Unfortunate that it's run by such an insensitive man. read more
