My fiancé and I come here often for lunch before I go into work. When you walk in, the bar always has people sitting at it. Then, when you get seated they bring you popcorn to start. Nice thick cut piece of Bologna bread n a Costanza roll, it as so good! I would recommend to anyone. My husband had the goulash. He enjoyed it but would have preferred it without the cheese. He thought it was mozzarella, but it tasted more like a white American. But the goulash itself he said was very good. I can not comment n the other 3 dishes. Came here with a group of four during local restaurant week. We had a few drinks at the bar while we were waiting to be seated. We all ordered the French dip for our meal. I wanted to like this place. We saw pictures from a StepOut Buffalo ad. The food in the pictures looks amazing, unfortunately in person completely different. For example the French onion soup was a hunk of semi melted cheese in the middle of the bowl with none melting over the top, or down the sides. It looked boring, like no one cared. Salad.... Again no presentation skills involved. Looked like lettuce was thrown on a plate, plus small portion. Club sandwich was ok..... lacked portion and size again. Came with what they said was a side salad, it was five leftover pieces of lettuce and one tomato. Nice staff, served at the appropriate speed. Place was clean and busy. Not what it used to be to be. We use to go to the Pub once a week. Mexican Mondays, Sunday weck and wing buffet were staples at the Pub for years. Last time there the huge chicken fingers they use to serve have shrunk to nugget size. We had the firecracker chicken sandwich, it was the same thing as a chicken sandwich from McDonalds. Chicken patty sandwich for $18.00. I hate to say it but the place will probably be closed within a year if they don't do something about their food. Based off of the reviews of this place, I was expecting to find a nice, modern pub/bar. Though after finally getting here on my own... It's just a typical diner with a side-bar area. $8 for a margarita served in a regular plastic water cup (not a margarita glass), basic appetizers, overpriced chicken wings, frozen chicken fingers, very dry roast beef, etc. Completely underwhelming. French fries were crunchy and they give you a plentiful amount. My French dip lacked any flavor in the water au JU. I had to smother it with ketchup so I could swallow it. They do give you free popcorn as an appetizer so that's kinda nice, but I probably will not be back anytime soon. It may be my own fault. As you all know, French Pub is one of my favorite spots. I grew up coming here with various family members and friends. It always holds a special place in my heart. I especially love their popcorn. My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday right when they opened to use my birthday coupon, which I love using every year. We were seated quickly and in the large room on the side. There were about 2 other tables. There were about 3 additional tables that arrived while we were there. I ordered the bbq burger without the roll. My boyfriend ordered the French onion soup and the French dip sandwich. Our meals were delivered. Mine was fine. My boyfriend though was missing the dip for his French dip sandwich. Also, I asked where his soup was. The soup never came. He had to wait for the waitress to stop back over and then asked for the dip for his sandwich. At that point, he was seeing what was going to happen with the soup. This was a unique time where the server didn't perform all too well. I had also laid my birthday coupon at the edge of the table immediately when arriving at the table. When the server brought the bill over, she didn't take the coupon off. When she came over again to collect the bill, I said please remove the coupon and then we will look at the bill again. They were so terrible and the waitress -to her credit -noticed it and took them off the bill because I only ate one they were so terrible. The parking lot was PACKED when we got there around 5pm on a Friday Yet we only waited less than 10 minutes. Homemade soups (French Onion & New England clam chowder) were delicious as was the mini fish fry my wife got and that was not as mini as you'd think. Came with fries, Mac salad and coke slaw all of which were very good. My bbq bacon burger was cooked to perfection and was served on a fresh bun with homemade chips. I've always loved the French Pub but I was highly disappointed tonight. We ordered the special, chicken pot pie, an order of onion rings, minestrone soup, and chicken fingers. What we received- 5 measly onion rings, a puff pastry with three pieces of chicken and a couple veggies tossed in, maybe 10 ounces of food total for the pot pie. I inquired of the waitress "How much of an up-charge would it be if I wanted the French onion SOUP"? First time trying this restaurant/pub... a few friends I haven't seen in over a covid year decided to get together at French Pub. It was a great choice on a Wednesday afternoon, not very busy and they are practicing covid measures. We were greeted right away by a friendly staff member and seated promptly. Our server came right over and took drink orders, we ordered soft drinks and we were brought a non stop supply... we never had to ask for a refill, she brought us pitchers until we said, 'no more!' Two people ordered the French dip sandwich, they were a generous size and the fries that came with the sandwiches were crunchy and hot. Both said the roast beef was tender and flavorful and they really enjoyed the au jus that accompanied it. There was enough to take home for lunch, and they were looking forward to eating it again! Another person at the table ordered the beer cheese soup with a pretzel, she said it was just 'eh'... would not order it again... she also ordered the Philly steak salad and that was beautiful upon delivery. The steak was ordered very rare and it was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. There were fries and melted cheese and it again was generous and some was taken home for another meal. Very tasty! I ordered chicken wings, medium, extra crispy and extra saucy... they arrived just as ordered with about four celery sticks and a small cup of blue cheese... They were your standard chicken wings, (not small, not large), with standard medium sauce, nothing special, but enjoyable... there were 10 in a single order, so I'll have some for lunch too. There's always a cheery atmosphere when I go in, the people are friendly, our server was great and let me tell you the Roast Beef on Weck and Buffalo Wings were just as I remembered them-Delicious!!! The roast beef was so tender and the wings were crispy just like I like them and a good size too! It's always clean in there and seems to flow really well! We didn't wait that long for our food and were checked on thru out our meal. My brother and I eat here every Saturday. We just love the French dip sandwich. I get the sweet potato fries with it. I eat half while there, and take the rest home for another meal during the week. I've had a few of their other menu options - which are very good... however, Mike and I are addicted to the French Dip (appropriate... French Road, French Pub, French Dip!) He goes there 2 or 3 times during the week all by himself (he's a widower.) He enjoys an alcoholic beverage with his meal. We discovered this place about a year ago - now it is on our regular rotation. The waitresses are always efficient and friendly, the bus boys are even attentive and on the ball. I went for a baby shower, catered meal at French pud on Saturday early afternoon. We had the side room, to the right. They set it up with one long table down the center of the room, and also utilised all the booths. Food menu was eat beef on mini week or plain roll, turkey/ stuffing, lettuce salad with one salad dressing( Italian), penne pasta salad with Italian dressing, oven roasted potatoes with skins on, honey butter carrots. Everything is good here to eat, usually I get the wings beef on weck. With a soup. always so good. We also had my son's graduation party here. it is a perfect venue for a small party. They have a nice menu with plenty of choices. Some classical, some with a little twist. Nice. I had the Buffalo Chicken panini. Like the wings, you can pick how hot you want it. They range it from "mild" to "flame". It has bacon and melted cheese too. A bit sloppy to eat, but it tasted great. It comes with kettle chips, fries are extra. Not sure how I've missed reviewing this restaurant, as I've been eating here for years! Pre-COVID they had great lunch and dinner specials that came with an all you can eat soup and salad bar. I was pleasantly surprised that they are still serving up complimentary popcorn when you are seated. They have a great selection of food and drink with the best bloody mary in Cheektowaga in my opinion. They also offer sangria if that's your thing. Their menu has all the standard fare you'd expect, but I tend to like their specials. During the take out only phase I got the muffuletta sandwich, which I usually make a point to get during mardi gras week when it's offered. I'm so happy to see them rotating their "New Orleans Specials" throughout the year! This sandwich is so good I force myself to only eat half! It's ham, salami, provolone and an olive tapenade that they press into a panini and the cheese gets all melty and delicious! The last time I was there I found a new delicious special in the parmesan and garlic crusted three cheese grilled cheese! I decided to add bacon to beef that bad boy up and it was just delicious! I would maybe suggest serving it more like the muffuletta though because they gave me two smaller sandwiches on french bread and the crusty bread tore up the roof of my mouth a bit.
