Let me start by saying the service and staff are phenomenal! I was out shopping in the area and was trying to find a different place to get a bite. I had the taste for roast beef, because as of recent it's been very difficult to find a good roast beef sandwich. So French Pub it was. The reviews were decent, the parking lot packed and we decided why not. When you walk in, while you can tell this is a long standing community favorite. It's been here a long time and they seem to have quite a few regulars. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. She made recommendations and was attentive. The restaurant was quite full and they were great about cleaning a table as soon as someone left. The ambiance reminded me a bit of a diner. I decided on the roast beef , my son chose chicken fingers and my daughter the French dip. We usually share bites when we are considering the same thing. I'm used to roast beef being undercooked with a little red and juicy and what i got was well done, dry and had no flavor. As some points the mean was a little to tough for me. I never finished the other half. The sandwich could have benefited with more meat. That ratio to the bread wasn't the best. In this case with the kind of beef it wouldn't have mattered, but in the future I would hope they create a better sandwich. My daughter had the same slight issue with the French dip. The sandwich was quite dry and overcooked. My son enjoyed his tenders. Overall it was a decent experience. We enjoyed the service and the atmosphere. The menu is quite extensive. I have not been to the French Pub in a few years. Nothing against the restaurant just kind of forgot about it. I decided to try it again and I ordered take-out. I ordered the Thanksgiving on a Plate meal. Very impressed with the quality of food and the pricing was fair. There was enough food to be split between two people. The stuffing which is homemade was delicious. Turkey was moist and the gravy had a good taste. Highly recommended. Will be back to try other menu items. read more

Had dinner Monday evening 8/31/26 and it was a bit disappointing to say the least. My partner ordered sirloin (medium) and I ordered the special , blackened chicken covered in cheese and mushroom. We both had sides of mashed potatoes w/gravy and corn. Ordered an appetizer of fried pickles. A crock of french onion soup. It started off a bit rocky as I ordered off their beer menu, something new, but was informed they don't have that beer any longer and they Havnt updated their menu. Okay fine. Got our drinks, ordered our appetizers and that was quite tasty. Our main dishes came out on very hot plates, but the food itself was lukewarm at best. My chicken was tasty, the sirloin was medium as ordered although pretty basic and seasonless, sort of warm. The sides is where things fell apart. The gravy was cold, gelatinous and just gross. The potatoes themselves had a good flavor but cold. The corn was the most plain, underwhelming flavorless corn you've ever had. Microwaved from frozen for sure, but not any seasoning or butter or anything. We ate our appetizer, our meats and left. We do not plan on coming back. read more

My fiancé and I come here often for lunch before I go into work. When you walk in, the bar always has people sitting at it. Then, when you get seated they bring you popcorn to start. For some reason restaurant popcorn is always so good! I got chicken fingers and fries which is always good there! Not the homemade type or anything, but still good. He got a chicken finger panini which he always gets as well! All I wish is that the portions were bigger, but I get it with the prices and everything going up that's hard to do! Came here with a group of four during local restaurant week. We had a few drinks at the bar while we were waiting to be seated. We all ordered the French dip for our meal. Had a nice business lunch at the French Pub. Cozy place with a lot of good comfort food. I like the touch of the free popcorn... which you can refill at anytime. Group of 5. We hadn't seen each other in a while and were busy talking so I forgot to take a picture. I had the fried Bologna with chips and it was delicious. Nice thick cut piece of Bologna bread n a Costanza roll, it as so good! I would recommend to anyone. My husband had the goulash. He enjoyed it but would have preferred it without the cheese. He thought it was mozzarella, but it tasted more like a white American. But the goulash itself he said was very good. I can not comment n the other 3 dishes. My husband ordered Prime Rib and cut was wrong and they took the whole dinner away instead of letting him eat the baked potato and vegetables. The vegetables are frozen ones that were overcooked and cold when they came out with the correct cut of Prime Rib. They probably gave him the original potato and vegetables and never heated them up! The dinner was $33.00 !! I had to eat by myself while he waited for his meal. It seems like the food dinners are mediocre, although bar type foods are usually good as we go there quite a bit! I wanted to like this place. We saw pictures from a StepOut Buffalo ad. The food in the pictures looks amazing, unfortunately in person completely different. For example the French onion soup was a hunk of semi melted cheese in the middle of the bowl with none melting over the top, or down the sides. It looked boring, like no one cared. Salad.... Again no presentation skills involved. Looked like lettuce was thrown on a plate, plus small portion. Club sandwich was ok..... lacked portion and size again. Came with what they said was a side salad, it was five leftover pieces of lettuce and one tomato. Nice staff, served at the appropriate speed. Place was clean and busy. Prices were fair if above was fixed. While not in our normal area to go out, if back in that area would not return. They seem to have a loyal customer base and we wish them well. read more

Had the Firecracker Chicken, Chips and a Caesar Salad. The salad was fresh and delicious, definitely hit the spot! The chicken was good, but I expected more spice and flavor. If you just want to come in for a beer or wine they have a bar, I got a glass of the tasty barefoot moscato.With fast and friendly service I got my cup of the beer cheese soup with pretzel for my appetizer, it was hot but could have been tastier.For my entree I got the triple Decker turkey club with sweet potato fries. Not many fries for an additional cost, skimpy on the turkey and not very tasty, would not recommend this sandwich. Well here it is: Good atmosphere Good service Terrible, tasteless food. I had the salmon special, served with pilaf and some sort of cheese and spinach sauce, and it was served with warmed up, unseasoned vegetables 4/10 Husband had Caesar salad and French Onion. Salty salty soup topped with some sort of cheese, and the salad had zero flavor. 2/10 Don't even get me started on the fried pierogi appetizer that was served tossed in hot sauce and blue cheese. They were so terrible and the waitress -to her credit -noticed it and took them off the bill because I only ate one they were so terrible. Needless to say there, so many better restaurants in Buffalo to choose from. Stay away do yourself a favor. I spent over 60 bucks and the food was shit. Based off of the reviews of this place, I was expecting to find a nice, modern pub/bar. Though after finally getting here on my own... It's just a typical diner with a side-bar area. $8 for a margarita served in a regular plastic water cup (not a margarita glass), basic appetizers, overpriced chicken wings, frozen chicken fingers, very dry roast beef, etc. Completely underwhelming. French fries were crunchy and they give you a plentiful amount. My French dip lacked any flavor in the water au JU. I had to smother it with ketchup so I could swallow it. They do give you free popcorn as an appetizer so that's kinda nice, but I probably will not be back anytime soon. It may be my own fault. Not what it used to be to be. We use to go to the Pub once a week. Mexican Mondays, Sunday weck and wing buffet were staples at the Pub for years. Last time there the huge chicken fingers they use to serve have shrunk to nugget size. We had the firecracker chicken sandwich, it was the same thing as a chicken sandwich from McDonalds. Chicken patty sandwich for $18.00. I hate to say it but the place will probably be closed within a year if they don't do something about their food. As you all know, French Pub is one of my favorite spots. I grew up coming here with various family members and friends. It always holds a special place in my heart. I especially love their popcorn. My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday right when they opened to use my birthday coupon, which I love using every year. We were seated quickly and in the large room on the side. There were about 2 other tables. There were about 3 additional tables that arrived while we were there. I ordered the bbq burger without the roll. My boyfriend ordered the French onion soup and the French dip sandwich. Our meals were delivered. Mine was fine. My boyfriend though was missing the dip for his French dip sandwich. Also, I asked where his soup was. The soup never came. He had to wait for the waitress to stop back over and then asked for the dip for his sandwich. At that point, he was seeing what was going to happen with the soup. This was a unique time where the server didn't perform all too well. I had also laid my birthday coupon at the edge of the table immediately when arriving at the table. When the server brought the bill over, she didn't take the coupon off. When she came over again to collect the bill, I said please remove the coupon and then we will look at the bill again. Nothing to write home about. I think their portions are small especially if you're ordering a salad and I think they are overpriced compared to other restaurants with similar menus. Their lack of a bar does not make us want to go there very often as my husband and I like to sit at the bar and eat, and taking the whole experience. Will not be going back anytime soon. read more

I've always loved the French Pub but I was highly disappointed tonight. We ordered the special, chicken pot pie, an order of onion rings, minestrone soup, and chicken fingers. What we received- 5 measly onion rings, a puff pastry with three pieces of chicken and a couple veggies tossed in, maybe 10 ounces of food total for the pot pie. First time trying this restaurant/pub... a few friends I haven't seen in over a covid year decided to get together at French Pub. It was a great choice on a Wednesday afternoon, not very busy and they are practicing covid measures. We were greeted right away by a friendly staff member and seated promptly. Both said the roast beef was tender and flavorful and they really enjoyed the au jus that accompanied it. There was enough to take home for lunch, and they were looking forward to eating it again! Another person at the table ordered the beer cheese soup with a pretzel, she said it was just 'eh'... would not order it again... she also ordered the Philly steak salad and that was beautiful upon delivery. The steak was ordered very rare and it was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. There were fries and melted cheese and it again was generous and some was taken home for another meal. Very tasty! I ordered chicken wings, medium, extra crispy and extra saucy... they arrived just as ordered with about four celery sticks and a small cup of blue cheese... They were your standard chicken wings, (not small, not large), with standard medium sauce, nothing special, but enjoyable... there were 10 in a single order, so I'll have some for lunch too. Came back to town to visit and this is my Moms go to Place. Well let me tell you we got to The French Pub and the lot was full, but when we went in we had no problem getting a seat. There's always a cheery atmosphere when I go in, the people are friendly, our server was great and let me tell you the Roast Beef on Weck and Buffalo Wings were just as I remembered them-Delicious!!! The roast beef was so tender and the wings were crispy just like I like them and a good size too! It's always clean in there and seems to flow really well! We didn't wait that long for our food and were checked on thru out our meal.
