Portobello Sandwich
Shauna P.

We were lucky to get in just under the wire, since they stop serving lunch at the end of October. Seated next to the large windows, the view of the pond and trees is so beautiful. And what a wonderful treat to enjoy lunch with linen napkins and tablecloth. Much fancier than our usual casual joints. Service was perfect. As it should be, since our server is a member of the Romanello family - veritable restaurant royalty. The food? Just great. We enjoyed every single bite. My portabello sandwich, topped with roasted red peppers and blue cheese was the best I've ever had. The roll was the perfect degree of soft. I appreciated that the lettuce, onion and tomato were served on the side, since the lettuce was a tender variety and would have been wilted by the time it reached the table had it been in the sandwich. I skipped the onion and opted to eat the beautiful heirloom tomato slices on their own. Delicious. The friend who ordered the chicken pot pie pronounced it exceptional. Other friend chose the "Renowned" Roseland Sandwich: open meatball topped with red sauce and melted mozzarella. She ate every. single. bite. The soup of the day was a corn chowder concoction, and I think my friend who ordered it was ready to lick the bowl! Amazingly, the meatball sandwich girl wanted to try the Lemon Angel, the famous meringue and pudding dessert that's been on the menu for decades. And guess what? She ate every single bite of that too! I don't get out for dinner very often, but I'm already looking forward to next summer when Old Orchard starts serving lunch again. I don't think I'll have to twist any of my friends' arms for a return visit. If you're in the mood for a great meal with professional service in a cozy, country inn setting, this is the place.

Complimentary bread and butter

My friend suggested we come here to try something new. It's a 40 minute drive for us so we can't be regulars, but it was worth the drive for a unique experience. The restaurant seems to be kept to original structure. It's very cozy. My friend said the bathroom is the smallest he's ever seen. But there's many areas to dine in and some antique decor and multiple fireplaces. I enjoyed watching the Muscovy ducks outside the window! Super cute! Service was friendly and flowed efficiently. We came (unknowingly) during restaurant week which was a treat. My meal started out with a glass of wine; I ordered the Pinot Grigio which was great. The bread came out warm and crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. The butter was soft and spreadable. My entree was the babyback ribs with roasted sweet potatoes and roasted summer squash and carrots. The summer squash and carrots weren't too bad. I enjoyed the sweet potatoes. The bbq sauce on the ribs had a very unique flavor unlike any BBQ I've had to date. I will say they were cooked to perfection and melted right off the bone. Yum! My favorite part of my meal (and it's saying a lot because I'm not a "dessert" person) was actually the mini lemon angel (lemon meringue). Oh my goodness! The lemon pudding, meringue biscuit, and cream all complemented eachother in perfect harmony, yet weren't too heavy for my already-full tummy.

Ordered takeout ahead during the Coronavirus crisis. The selection of entrees was amazing, we ordered six entrees: corned beef and cabbage, beef stroganoff, chicken pot pie and chicken friccassee. All the meals were wonderful and extremely reasonably priced. Can't wait to return, they do need to work on timing as each car lined up for pick up waited a bit. Having dined here previously this seems like a welcome glimpse of normalcy.

This restaurant is an old but a goody! I hadn't been here in years but was invited there for a Christmas office lunch. The traditional special chicken pot pie was even better than I remembered. So much chicken! Such a flaky crust! Their classic dessert of lemon custard pie was a nice 'closer' for the meal.

Home made manicotti

I've been to this place a few times and when I needed a place after graduation, I remembered old orchard. I wasn't sure what time we'd get there after the ceremony, and the girl on the phone said come 330-530, you'll be fine! This was so nice to have the flexibility and not have to worry about missing our reservation. We sat outside on the patio. It was breezy at times but it's covered on two sides and they have heaters if you wish. We started with French onion soup and the smoked Gouda lobster dip with pita triangles. We had more dip than pita. The waiter asked if we wanted more. They came out quick and hot. Though...i saw a $2 chg on my bill for that. The charge was not mentioned on ordering. We got a bottle of French wine, which our waiter told us the wine rep said it was a nice wine for the price. $36 for the bottle was a good price for the quality. The soup was good, not great. We ordered shrimp florentine, home made manicotti, surf and turf, red snapper and prime rib. Basically half the menu! The shrimp was especially tasty, if they still had that, I'd order another time. My surf and turf very good, prime rib tender and tasty, manicotti had an interesting ricotta filling and the red snapper, it had a tangy sauce, I kind of avoided it and just ate the fish. They served us vegetables and mashed cheddar potatoes family style, which gave us a lot of extra for everyone. Ended our meal with one maple creme brûlée which gave each of us a few bites. It's a really lg dessert compared to most places. This place is really cool with a bunch of different rooms to dine in. It was not quick at all, so if you want to take your time between app/dinner/dessert, this is your place. They're very down to earth and accommodating. Parking lot completely full upon leaving. For an out of the way place (yet 17 minutes from Elma) it has big traffic. Guess when you get it right, the people will come.

The Wedding Party

I got married here this past Saturday and it was a dream come true! I knew I wanted a small, intimate venue for my wedding, so if that's what you want as well for your big day, I highly suggest this beautiful little place. Even if you just want a nice family party or anniversary dinner, this is the spot! The grounds are gorgeous and pristine. Even though my wedding was entirely inside, you could still see from the windows what a beautiful setting it is. There's a pretty pond that's currently iced over and well lit areas strewn with white lights. I wish we had gotten photos outside, but inside is lovely too. We said ours vows in front of the romantic fireplace and had our own couple's table. Everything was already decorated for Christmas, so we really only needed to arrange centerpieces, which I appreciated. The food here is so good! Back when we were engaged, my husband and I came here for dinner to see what it was like. There's not a ton of gluten free options, but what they do offer is a filet and large porkchop. Both are delicious, though for the wedding itself, I chose their flavorful, buttery tomahawk chop. It really fills you up quickly, though I could eat one every day for a year and still want more. That's how amazing their food is. Now on to the service here. Judy was my main go to person for all my questions and needs, though it was a team effort day of. Judy made sure everything I wanted was taken care of, right down to the napkin colors. I wasn't a fussy bride (really), so she kind of had to chase me down to get all the information she needed to make the reception perfect. I really appreciated her attention to detail and dedication. The reception went off without a hitch. The servers were beyond attentive and efficient. They were also friendly and quick. I was really impressed by them. Drinks were plentiful because they were delivered promptly and right to you. There was no thronging at a bar stand where you were expected to tip every time you got a drink...your glass got refilled the moment they noticed it was empty. I may have gotten a little tipsy, but I digress. I truly love The Old Orchard Inn for making my wedding perfect. The staff and venue itself were exactly what I wanted and needed. It was a relaxed atmosphere that really put me at ease. Nothing went wrong because of all the work done behind the scenes and in plain sight. I highly, highly recommend this treasure.

Pear martini w/edible flower

This place is just so quaint and cozy, and has a beautiful setting. My friend brought me here for my birthday and the night couldn't have gone better. We were greeted by Judy, who knows my friend well, and is very sweet. We were early, so decided to have a drink at the bar first. Although we had a reservation, it was not busy, and Judy told us to let her know when we were ready to sit. The bartender was very nice and made our drinks quickly. We opted for the special pear martini, which she garnished with an edible flower, which we did eventually eat and it was amazing! The drink was served in a beautiful to glass cup and tasted perfect. When we were ready to sit, we could choose which seat we wanted and opted for the perfect spot in front of the fireplace. It was a cold evening, so this was just right. Our server was attentive and helpful. They have daily specials and today's deal was a filet mignon and lobster tail (surf and turf) for only $30! It also came with a side of veggies and mash potatoes served family style and there was more than enough for the two of us. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and couldn't have been better. Although we were full from dessert, we did each choose something, one lemon angel and I opted for a drink for dessert, snickerdoodle which was similar to a peanut butter white russian and delicious. They brought my drink out with a candle in the cinnamon stick that comes with the drink and it was the perfect ending to a fabulous evening. Such a great place, and not as well known as other restaurants in town due to it being off the beaten path, but well worth the drive. Can't wait to get back!

All I can say is wow! I haven't been here for several years, kinda forgot about it but so glad someone mentioned it to me and we decided to go. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient. There were many choices but I went with the Sunday special turkey dinner. I started with a salad with the house dressing, loved it! The turkey was plentiful and came with stuffing, orange cranberry relish accompanied by bowls of mashed potato, butternut squash and beets. Now I am a big fan of my family's turkey dinner and don't usually care for it at a restaurant but this was an exception. It was easily as good as homemade. I will definitely go back to try some of the other great menu choices.

Always enjoy a visit to OOI during warmer months to dine on their patio but this Holiday time it was to enjoy the cozy inside. No app's were ordered, just a Smith Cab while deciding on an entree and put our sights on dessert while taking in the atmosphere of this 'cottage-like' inn and the fireplace. Manicotti w/ Meatball (a sort of tradition for my Christmas meal for the past couple decades) and Twin Lobster Tails were ordered along with a 1/2 bottle of a Beaujolais. Entrees came surprisingly fast considering the volume of patrons and all were VG! On to desserts of Apple Pie Ala Mode (VG) and Bread Pudding (OK). The pudding was very dense. I prefer a lighter custardy base bread pudding but just can't seem to find anywhere to make it the way 'Mom' did. Sláinte

Filet and Shrimp
Kiarra M.

What a perfect getaway for dinner. This place is so incredibly quaint all tucked away sitting right on a pond (which makes for beautiful pictures) Started with the Brie Appetizer; warm Brie with a cranberry jam. For dinner the Filet with shrimp and then a Steak sandwich. Every bite got better and better. Especially the Brie.. i could have eaten that for my meal. They do a family style for sides, or too crazy about that i think they should just pair their dishes with a specific side, but that's just me. Overall the coziness of the restaurant and the location is what won over my heart the food was just an extra.

The sign on the door said they open at noon. So we settled into a park bench at the corner and watched people strolling in the sunshine until they open the doors. One very energetic waitress was covering all three rooms. She was quick to apologize for any delay. My iced tea came up very rapidly, and I took a few minutes to look over the entire menu. Despite all the enticing mini items, I ordered what I had been craving: the beer battered fish fry with all the sides. It did not disappoint. I have had a fish fry or two in my life, and I'm not gonna argue with anyone. Wallenwein's is my new favorite fish fry. There's plenty of food to choose from. Salads, soups, sandwiches, and wraps, pizzas, and wings. Everything that we have tried has been absolutely delicious! It was good but I'm a Chicagoan so I have to say I prefer the Italian beef sandwiches over this. Beef on weck is more of a sliced beef served on a salted kimmelweck roll which has salt and caraway seeds and prepared horseradish on the side. Yes it was good and I'd probably get it again but if you grew up around here, it's a local fave. The place is like old rustic and had a nice vibe to it. Great service too!

Not going to lie, it's nearly impossible to sit through a lacrosse game while smelling burgers from this place the entire time. We came by on a Sunday and took advantage of their kids' meal special: $5 including a drink, which is a really solid deal. We ordered burgers (split with my fellow burger lover) and chicken fingers for two of the kids, and the food definitely hit the spot after a long day when everyone was starving. The burgers were decent, though I would have loved slightly larger patties and a few more topping option. I'm all about an over-the-top handheld, so maybe that's just me. My only real disappointment was the fry portion size; I must have been spoiled on my first visit when my meal came with an overload of fries. One of my favorite features is the patio, especially during nicer weather. Service was good, and I appreciated the little outdoor station stocked with condiments and water, which was a thoughtful touch for patio diners. Overall, it's a convenient spot to grab a casual meal before or after games, especially if you're already at the rink.

Criminal at the price. My husband's giant steak was also under-seasoned as were the sad mashed potatoes and carrots that came along with it. The steak was good quality, cooked fine, but could have been exceptional if it had any flavor beyond being a good piece of meat. The Thai shrimp appetizer was good but if you put Thai chili sauce on anything it will taste good. The scallop was decent but again not really seared well and lacking flavor even with the balsamic drizzle. Would not come back to waste hundreds of dollars on overpriced unseasoned food again. I will say the service was good and the staff were lovely. Too bad the food is mid. Drive to a real restaurant that cares about their food prep like Prescotts provisions or Oliver's or Black Iron bystro. Skip Rick's.
