Ricks on Main is one of those places where you mark highlights of your life with a sumptuous celebration! Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, career promotions, retirement, are all excellent reasons to treat yourself to a meal at Rick's. In the summer months, there's nothing quite like sitting on the outdoor patio overseeing all the activities on Main Street in East Aurora. You get a great glimpse of the Vidler on the roof with his benevolent smile and upraised hand waving at all the traffic. Situated in a grand house, Rick's has dining rooms on two floors in addition to the front porch and the bar area. My top entree choices will always be the Ribeye, Cowboy steak, and anything that features scallops. Treat yourself real soon! read more

Went there for dinner last night. This will be the second bad experience. Thought we'd give it a try again. Servers were amazing. Food sucked. Ordered the jambalaya. It had two pieces of chicken and small three or four pieces of sausage cut in half and very little macaroni portions are very small. It was so hot. You couldn't even taste the food. It was not spicy like the menu suggested. The other meal that was ordered was just fair if that and the portion also was very small Almost $200 after a couple drinks no desserts they should be ashamed of themselves. It's more of a congregating place , it shouldn't be called the restaurant get it together Whoever is in charge of running the facility is doing a poor job I wouldn't go there ever again if I could give it minus stars I would and again this is my second visit. Don't waste your money or your time. read more

The good: Service The bad: Had a Caesar salad...it was chopped up Romaine sprinkled with Parmesan cheese...almost no dressing and very bland. Got the seafood risotto. The shrimp and lobster were over cooked terribly....like little lumps of rubber....the scallops were cooked well. The risotto was under cooked and dry as the desert. I picked out the seafood and left the risotto....for $58 I would have expected much better. read more

Saturday night we went to Rick's on Main and it was FANTASTIC! Both meals were very tasty and the servings were so large that we both had plenty to take home for lunch the next day...perfect lunch. So happy that we went there...THANK YOU. read more

Inside is gorgeous, I didn't feel too crowded which is always a plus in these smaller places. It's an upscale look. The service was ok, nothing over the top, but not bad. The food was great. We got a couple of appetizers that were both good. Stuffed banana peppers, and the crab cakes. The crab cakes were made with lots of crab which is good to see. Albeit it's only 2 cakes, and for a party of 5 we had to cut them up to split them. Their salads are large, easily could be your whole meal if you wanted. The seafood risotto was great. A little on the salty side, but definitely great. Lots of lobster pieces throughout. I was a fan. Would definitely come back in the future. read more

First time visiting on recommendation from a friend , Ricks did not disappoint and we will be returning . My wife was worried we would be underdressed as we did this on a whim after shopping in the area w our teenage daughter 4pm ish . Very casual vibe yet classy upscale place , we wore jeans , t shirt , sweater . Some people dressed up , special occasion I'm sure but everyone blended in . We sat outside covered porch area and great view of downtown . Food was amazing . We split Crab cake app and scallop app ( 5 star and was enough food to stop there ). We then split the 8 oz Fillet entree . Cooked to perfection , We could barely finish that , great portions . Our waiter was top notch , Laura , returned to our table many times to make sure we didn't need anything . We will request her on our return there . Casual yet classy elegant dinning , 5 star food and service you would expect from the Ritz Carlton . We can't wait to go back for lunch or dinner . Cheers read more

For such an expensive restaurant the entrees were very disappointingly unseasoned. Which may explain why a restaurant as expensive as this actually had salt and pepper on the table -- which is rare. Seasoning food after the fact is fine, but never as good as during the preparation. My seabass was tasteless and was sat on top of a mediocre risotto...which is saying something since it was a Gouda and red pepper risotto. Also unseasoned overcooked green beans on the side. Criminal at the price. My husband's giant steak was also under-seasoned as were the sad mashed potatoes and carrots that came along with it. The steak was good quality, cooked fine, but could have been exceptional if it had any flavor beyond being a good piece of meat. The Thai shrimp appetizer was good but if you put Thai chili sauce on anything it will taste good. The scallop was decent but again not really seared well and lacking flavor even with the balsamic drizzle. Would not come back to waste hundreds of dollars on overpriced unseasoned food again. I will say the service was good and the staff were lovely. Too bad the food is mid. Drive to a real restaurant that cares about their food prep like Prescotts provisions or Oliver's or Black Iron bystro. Skip Rick's. read more

Absolute first class restaurant that gets it and just does it the right way ! Lunch on the patio (make A rez) was so nice. Beautiful day overlooking Vidler's and we had a wonderful server (shame on me for not remembering her name). Started with.a glass of wine for my guest and I had one of the best espresso martinis ever. I had the chopped salad - with chicken - huge portion and the peppercorn dressing is either homemade or close to it. My guest had a blackened grouper sandwich that he said was better than ones he's had in Florida. Mike the owner mingles and checks on the guests a rarity - and is personable and takes the time to chat and ask how your lunch is. My only regret is I'm going back to my home in AZ and would love a Rick's there!!! read more

Birthday dinner for my wife. Rick's on Main it is... this place completely amazes me everytime we go there. Quality and quantity are fantastic. Large portions cooked to perfection! Stuffed banana peppers were phenomenal. She had the Steak Gorgonzola pasta which was great. I went with the Garlic & herb ribeye. Steak was out of this world. Done medium to absolute perfection. Horseradish mashed potatoes were very unique, not to much to overpower the potatoes but just enough to get a hint of it. Cassada cake for dessert was the perfect finishing touch. Service was amazing as always. Consider here for great meal or to celebrate a special occassion. Reservations a must, always busy. read more

I came here for dinner on a Saturday night and I was pleased with my experience. Parking was difficult, I made reservations and everything and I had no idea the restaurant included valet! That was disappointing. Don't make my mistake!!! The place is gardened up really nice and there are lanterns and lights all over the outside. I ordered the pepper dip - YUM! It got a little messy because I had to rip the bread bowl apart to really eat it, so that was the only criticism I could give there. Then I had the bone-in steak with the truffle chips. I was really pleased with everything. I didn't even up eating much of my steak that night because I was stuffed from the pepper dip, but it served as great leftovers. The friend I went to dinner with was also pleased with her meal. read more

Ambience five stars The servers were friendly and attentive. The food looked spectacular and tasted... OK. This is a high-end restaurant and I was really expecting a little more The food was definitely not bad but at the price point I was expecting something out of the ordinary. I had Chicken Milanese which was a Panko coated chicken breast cooked nice and crispy and topped with greens and a balsamic glaze. The problem was they basically put a salad on top of the chicken and none of the balsamic flavoring made it to the chicken. It gave me the feeling of a very classy chicken tender. Again, not a bad experience, but for the price point, I was expecting more. read more

I always love Rick's on main. We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday before walking around the town. Got seated right away at a bar table. We both got the jalapeño popper soup- everything was delish!! read more

5* food and service MOIST grouper sandwich; grouper was a huge fillet, perfectly prepared. I requested it mildly seasoned, not blackened or Cajun. I substituted a Brioche bun which was delicious but a little messier to eat. I disliked the citrus dressing, so I'm glad i requested it on the side. I appreciate their willingness to let me make changes to the dishes. Enjoyed a side salad and liked the balsamic vinegrette which i requested on the side. Would have considered ordering dessert if there were a non-chocolate option. read more

Rick's is one of our favorite restaurants, if not our very favorite! The service is always great and the food is delicious every time. Those gnocchi were probably the best I've ever had - light and fluffy and oh so tasty! The dip was okay, probably wouldn't opt for that again. Matt's steak was really good. We met here and spent our anniversary here, probably will continue to do so because we love the location, the ambiance, the service, and the food!! Can't do better than Rick's! read more

Great for business dinners. Attentive service with frequent check-backs and knowledgable staff. The beet salad is a great way to start your meal. You don't even need the dressing. Also, love the bread basket with the sweet, creamy butter for the warm rolls. They know how to do steak! Can't go wrong with their filet. Marble brownie is more cakey than fudgy. I would recommend ordering one of their other desserts - cakes, cheesecake. read more

Celebrated our 11th anniversary here and this place was amazing! The service was incredible drinks were consistently filled and we were constantly checked on by our server(Jill V). She was very pleasant and gave us an ample amount of time to figure out what we wanted because the Wife was undecided lol The food was very delicious and made to perfection, everything came out right on time which we enjoyed so much! We sat upstairs and even then the ambiance was very nice. Very calm quiet and lightly lit if that makes any sense lol. Overall we had a great experience! Definitely looking forward to coming back and enjoying a night out again! #IMAKEITHAPPEN read more

I absolutely loved the tuna mango appetizer, I don't remember what it was called but it was a special. The tostadas have a little kick but are yummy and the crispy ravioli was very good. I wasn't as into the pork belly as the others, but ultimately delicious food and complimentary bread. The ambience here is nice as well, with a more casual cozy bar area and a bit fancier room inside and upstairs. The patio is lovely as well, and I hope to try one of their igloos in the winter. read more

This was my third time over many years that I have dined at Rick's. We had a gift card that needed to be used and thought using it to celebrate 5 months untol we get married was the perfect opportunity. I had a black walnut old fashioned. Bery flavorful. I also got the Boston bibb salad, which was so good and all the items in the salad melded well together flavor wise. Phil got the beet salad and enjoyed it. We split the cowboy steak and it waa wonderful. The perfect size for 2 people. I dont know how one person can eat 24 ounces of steak. We finished the meal off with a spumoni coated in a layer of chocolate. A very decadent and delightful meal. The service was great. read more

Enjoyable experience. Friendly staff. Food was very good and paced nicely. Went on a Saturday night with a party of 8. They have free valet parking or you'd find street parking. Had the stuffed banana pepper app which was good but nothing to rave about. Same with the banana pepper dip. There was a special on the menu of pork bites in a delicious glaze which was very good. I loved the fall creek salad. Would go back just for that. Caesar salad was also great and comes with tomatoes which I love! (I always have to ask to add them to my caeser salads.) Got the jambalaya which was very tasty but not a true jambalaya (typically in rice) but it did have all the protein - shrimp, chicken and andouille sausage. Cannoli cassata cake was awesome. Drinks were very good (vodka martini, espresso martini) and they were made quickly. I'd recommend if you want a nice, fancy dinner out. read more

Overall it was a nice meal but I think I'd rather come here for dinner options. I've been wanting to try this place for a while so decided to try the lunch. The banana pepper dip was the main reason I wanted to come here and it was okay but nothing too special. I did like that they served it in a bread bowl. As the main dish I spilt the turkey sandwich with my guest and it was a good sized portion. They had a lot of different dip options for the fries which was nice and fun to try the different flavors. Overall not a bad meal but I think the dinner options sound better. Service was good but it was a bit rushed since they close between lunch and dinner, so we had to eat quickly. read more

We came for dinner (had reservations), we were seated right away and our waitress was very kind and friendly! We ordered an appitizer the stuffed pepper dip and it was good we just wish it was served with chips or baguettes not a bread bowl. I had scallop tostadas for my meal and fingerling potato's on the side. The tostadas were okay, they had way too much stuff on top of the chips making them soggy. I ended up eating the scallops by themselves with the toppings. The fingerling potato's were part of a special but she let me order them on the side and they were delicious! My husband had the gnocchi and they were so soft and pillowy. It's a nice restaurant for special occasions! read more

Finally made it to Rick's on Main. It was fantastic! Our server Sarah was friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious! We had the sausage stuffed peppers as our appetizer. For dinner I ordered the filet with grilled asparagus and fried red skin potatoes. My husband had chicken milanese. We split a piece of cookie dough cheesecake for dessert (not pictured). I had a glass of Rick's sangria and our water glasses were kept full. The restaurant staff was very welcoming. It was nice to not be rushed through our meals. Restaurant was clean and tables were not close together. Highly recommend! read more

Seafood sampler - Bacon wrapped shrimp. Good. Crispy bacon is really nice. Spicy mustard wasn't really mustardy more like a sweet and spicy sauce, very similar to the remoulade that came with the crab cakes. Good flavor. - Crab cakes My first crab cake ever. Nice crisp outside, and delicious and fluffy filling. The remoulade and sweet Thai chili sauce is really good. - Fried scallops Good crisp. Little overcooked, slightly rubbery. Creole tartar sauce is good, and great with the crab cakes too. Filet Mignon 9/10 Medium, Cooked perfectly. Gorgonzola crust was great too. Very good. One of the best steaks in the Buffalo area in my opinion. Garlic & Herb Ribeye Steak 9/10 Medium rare, cooked perfectly. Love the compound butter. The fried onions on the top added a really great little crunch. read more

I've been wanting to go for a long time and was excited to finally get the chance! We decided to go for lunch and did not realize they close down between lunch and dinner so felt rushed while we were there. The hot pepper dip was the main reason I wanted to go and unfortunately it was nothing special. I've had it at other places that I would prefer much better. The turkey club was good (lots of turkey if that's what you like) and I split it and was still very full off of a half of a sandwich. This restaurant is wonderful. It was a bit of a hike for me, but I always wanted to try it. It was definitely worth the trip. I went here to meet a friend. I was overwhelmed with the traffic and a new location, so I opted to use the valet, but my friend found parking next to the building. No biggie. I was a little early, so I went to the bar for a quick drink. I don't remember what I had, but it was good. Once my friend arrived, we were brought upstairs and seated in a very romantic setup. It was a table for two on a balcony over the rest of the restaurant. Super cute. It was nice because it was perfect for some obnoxious gossip and chit-chat between friends, lol. For starters, we ordered the sausage stuffed banana peppers, and they were absolutely delicious. Definitely one of my favorite dishes in general, and they did it well. For dinner, I had the shrimp and chicken jambalaya, and my friend had the steak gorgonzola pasta. They were both delicious, but mine was better. The flavor and seasoning was perfect. I felt like my friends needed something more. For dessert, I had this lemon blueberry cake. OMG, it was too die for. I don't know if it was made in-house or pre-made from somewhere else, and I don't care. It was absolutely delicious. I would literally drive the hour again just for that cake. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holiday and wasn't too loud. The service wasn't anything special and one member of our party had to wait a while for their food to even come out. very disappointed. my wife and I went there for lunch today. we both ordered the blackened grouper. it took nearly 30 minutes before our food arrived. that didn't bother us since we were not in a hurry. when our meal finally arrived the grouper was over cooked. it was dried out. I ordered sweet fries which were burnt and dried out. We worked thru our meal. the hostess asked hour our meal was and we simply said fine. she is not the cook. we decided to order desert to go and ordered Casata. we attempted to enjoy it when we got home. it was terrible. it was very dry. My wife and I went there to celebrate a birthday. We had made a reservation 5-6 days before, When we arrived we were told there were no regular tables available for 1/2 hour downstairs but we could go upstairs to dine or sit at a table with high chairs. Having never been there before we agreed to go upstairs. BIG MISTAKE. It was like eating in a cafeteria, Absolutely no ambiance. Just painted walls. and no decor whatsoever, I should have waited the 1/2 hour or so.
