Inside is gorgeous, I didn't feel too crowded which is always a plus in these smaller places. It's an upscale look. The service was ok, nothing over the top, but not bad. The food was great. We got a couple of appetizers that were both good. Stuffed banana peppers, and the crab cakes. The crab cakes were made with lots of crab which is good to see. Albeit it's only 2 cakes, and for a party of 5 we had to cut them up to split them. Their salads are large, easily could be your whole meal if you wanted. The seafood risotto was great. A little on the salty side, but definitely great. Lots of lobster pieces throughout. I was a fan. Would definitely come back in the future.
Birthday dinner for my wife. Rick's on Main it is... this place completely amazes me everytime we go there. Quality and quantity are fantastic. Large portions cooked to perfection! Stuffed banana peppers were phenomenal. She had the Steak Gorgonzola pasta which was great. I went with the Garlic & herb ribeye. Steak was out of this world. Done medium to absolute perfection. Horseradish mashed potatoes were very unique, not to much to overpower the potatoes but just enough to get a hint of it. Cassada cake for dessert was the perfect finishing touch. Service was amazing as always. Consider here for great meal or to celebrate a special occassion. Reservations a must, always busy.
I came here for dinner on a Saturday night and I was pleased with my experience. Parking was difficult, I made reservations and everything and I had no idea the restaurant included valet! That was disappointing. Don't make my mistake!!! The place is gardened up really nice and there are lanterns and lights all over the outside. I ordered the pepper dip - YUM! It got a little messy because I had to rip the bread bowl apart to really eat it, so that was the only criticism I could give there. Then I had the bone-in steak with the truffle chips. I was really pleased with everything. I didn't even up eating much of my steak that night because I was stuffed from the pepper dip, but it served as great leftovers. The friend I went to dinner with was also pleased with her meal.
Absolute first class restaurant that gets it and just does it the right way ! Lunch on the patio (make A rez) was so nice. Beautiful day overlooking Vidler's and we had a wonderful server (shame on me for not remembering her name). Started with.a glass of wine for my guest and I had one of the best espresso martinis ever. I had the chopped salad - with chicken - huge portion and the peppercorn dressing is either homemade or close to it. My guest had a blackened grouper sandwich that he said was better than ones he's had in Florida. Mike the owner mingles and checks on the guests a rarity - and is personable and takes the time to chat and ask how your lunch is. My only regret is I'm going back to my home in AZ and would love a Rick's there!!!
First time visiting on recommendation from a friend , Ricks did not disappoint and we will be returning . My wife was worried we would be underdressed as we did this on a whim after shopping in the area w our teenage daughter 4pm ish . Very casual vibe yet classy upscale place , we wore jeans , t shirt , sweater . Some people dressed up , special occasion I'm sure but everyone blended in . We sat outside covered porch area and great view of downtown . Food was amazing . We split Crab cake app and scallop app ( 5 star and was enough food to stop there ). We then split the 8 oz Fillet entree . Cooked to perfection , We could barely finish that , great portions . Our waiter was top notch , Laura , returned to our table many times to make sure we didn't need anything . We will request her on our return there . Casual yet classy elegant dinning , 5 star food and service you would expect from the Ritz Carlton . We can't wait to go back for lunch or dinner . Cheers
Ambience five stars The servers were friendly and attentive. The food looked spectacular and tasted... OK. This is a high-end restaurant and I was really expecting a little more The food was definitely not bad but at the price point I was expecting something out of the ordinary. I had Chicken Milanese which was a Panko coated chicken breast cooked nice and crispy and topped with greens and a balsamic glaze. The problem was they basically put a salad on top of the chicken and none of the balsamic flavoring made it to the chicken. It gave me the feeling of a very classy chicken tender. Again, not a bad experience, but for the price point, I was expecting more.
I always love Rick's on main. We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday before walking around the town. Got seated right away at a bar table. We ordered the turkey cranberry sandwich and the steak sandwich. I love that you can choose your side- fries, sweet potato fries, tom/moz salad, soup. We both got the jalapeño popper soup- everything was delish!!
5* food and service MOIST grouper sandwich; grouper was a huge fillet, perfectly prepared. I requested it mildly seasoned, not blackened or Cajun. I substituted a Brioche bun which was delicious but a little messier to eat. I disliked the citrus dressing, so I'm glad i requested it on the side. I appreciate their willingness to let me make changes to the dishes. Enjoyed a side salad and liked the balsamic vinegrette which i requested on the side. Would have considered ordering dessert if there were a non-chocolate option.
Rick's is one of our favorite restaurants, if not our very favorite! The service is always great and the food is delicious every time. Those gnocchi were probably the best I've ever had - light and fluffy and oh so tasty! The dip was okay, probably wouldn't opt for that again. Matt's steak was really good. We met here and spent our anniversary here, probably will continue to do so because we love the location, the ambiance, the service, and the food!! Can't do better than Rick's!
Great for business dinners. Attentive service with frequent check-backs and knowledgable staff. The beet salad is a great way to start your meal. You don't even need the dressing. Also, love the bread basket with the sweet, creamy butter for the warm rolls. They know how to do steak! Can't go wrong with their filet. Marble brownie is more cakey than fudgy. I would recommend ordering one of their other desserts - cakes, cheesecake.
Celebrated our 11th anniversary here and this place was amazing! The service was incredible drinks were consistently filled and we were constantly checked on by our server(Jill V). She was very pleasant and gave us an ample amount of time to figure out what we wanted because the Wife was undecided lol The food was very delicious and made to perfection, everything came out right on time which we enjoyed so much! We sat upstairs and even then the ambiance was very nice. Very calm quiet and lightly lit if that makes any sense lol. Overall we had a great experience! Definitely looking forward to coming back and enjoying a night out again! #IMAKEITHAPPEN
I absolutely loved the tuna mango appetizer, I don't remember what it was called but it was a special. The tostadas have a little kick but are yummy and the crispy ravioli was very good. I wasn't as into the pork belly as the others, but ultimately delicious food and complimentary bread. The ambience here is nice as well, with a more casual cozy bar area and a bit fancier room inside and upstairs. The patio is lovely as well, and I hope to try one of their igloos in the winter.
Visited to celebrate my Wife's Birthday. Great drinks and food. Wonderful atmosphere and attentive staff!

Please do yourself a favor and eat here! You will not be disappointed, trust me! Every visit is better than the last, if even possible. Wait staff is extremely knowledgeable in all menu items. Bartenders make the best drinks. The owner is always checking in on the guests and makes sure your experience is great. Outdoor seating in the summer and warm igloo seating in the winter. Food is always cooked to perfection and presentation is pleasing to the eye. Thank you Rick's On Main for never falling short and proving you are the best in the 716. read more

So close to a five star experience. You know you're in for a good meal if they put edible flowers in their cocktails. I had to try Rick's when I saw the blueberry lilac martini in other reviews because I like lavender and it's rare to see a cocktail with lavender liquor that isn't gin-based. It tastes as good as it looks, and as others mention, they don't skimp on the stoli blueberry. We arrived a little bit before dinner service, but they were able to seat us. Our server was also great. Based on service alone, it's a five star experience. The bread is excellent, and it's served with this yummy garlic butter. One son had the chicken tenders and fries. He said the fries were "as good as McDonalds" which was meant as high praise from him, but mortified my husband, who felt that sold them short. I'd qualify it by saying their fries are to fine dining what McDonalds fries are to fast food. The other son had pasta with red sauce. I had a lobster macaroni that put all other lobster macaronis to shame. You can't tell from the picture but it had a lot of thick meaty pieces of lobster. The pieces of bacon were somewhere in between bacon and pork belly in thickness. Most lobster macaronis have a less appetizing layer of overcooked cheese on top, but their sauce is rich and creamy. My husband enjoyed the sides with his ribeye, but the ribeye itself was disappointing. It was cooked medium rare to order, and the garlic butter and seasoning were great, but the cut of meat did not measure up to the rest of the meal. It had a lot of gristle, even compared to ribeyes at less upscale establishments, somewhat spoiling an otherwise great meal. read more

Enjoyed a nice dinner here with a few friends. Service was great, our waiter checked on us multiple times, and always ensured our waters were refilled. Everyone we interacted with was very courteous. Food: The bread rolls were served warm with a seasoned butter. The entrees are filling but do not come with a starter. I ordered the halibut special which was about a 5oz piece of fish, on top of risotto and veggies with a tomato sauce, it was very good! Most entrees run about $30-$40. Drinks: wine menu had a good variety, starting at $9 / glass. Great place to come for either a special dinner, or a night out with friends. read more

My husband and I went here with friends of ours for a Saturday night dinner! It was my first time going to Rick's on Main and I was throughly impressed! The atmosphere is very romantic, and inviting with candles on each time and dim lighting! We started with this very nice, smooth bodied Italian red wine which was really good! I typically don't like red wine as it's typically too dry for me, but this had just a touch of sweetness and smooth finish! I ordered the pork chop and it was so juicy and cooked to perfection! It wasn't dry at all! It was topped with a delicious spread crispy prosciutto and melted cheese topped with a Demi glaze sauce! It was by far the best pork chop I've ever had. The service was excellent, and the wait staff was not overbearing! We were having a great time chatting it up that he gave us space to have a good time and didn't want to overcrowd or pressure us to make a decision quickly! They also were very professional, standing by to make sure the wine was of our liking before walking away! The food took a little bit to come out, but in my opinion I feel that's a good thing; having the chef take their time making sure presentation looked as good as the dish tasted! I highly recommend checking out ricks on main if you want a little fancy night out on the town! Also, they have igloos you can dine in during the winter months which is a cool little experience to brighten up buffalos cold winter months! Went with friends on a nice warm spring evening. We sat inside, nice atmosphere. We enjoy the first course of salads and the hot pepper dip which was amazing. I got the garlic and herb streak with fried onion straws, mashed potato and broccoli. I ordered my steak medium rare and my husband got the Gorgonzola Steak medium. When we received the steaks mine was cooked medium and my husbands was medium rare. Still very tasty, but would have preferred to get it as ordered at $40 something a plate. Wine was good the atmosphere nice. When the check came my friend pulled out a $75 gift certificate, without really looking at it. The waitress states : "we don't take those anymore" something about the owners changing hands and they no longer honoring it. The GC had the same logo as the menu and it was disheartening. Food is good, service was adequate. Prices...well four people at over $300 plus tip. read more
Was very pleased with my anniversary dinner here. It was highly recommended by some friends and was everything I expected. Firstly, I got a blueberry lilac martini and it was stunningly beautiful. I couldn't stop taking pictures of it and it tasted as good as it looked. They start you off with complementary bread and butter. The butter has a strong garlic taste that was delicious. I could eat it with a spoon if it wasn't for like...blocking arteries and stuff. My husband and I were both happy with our steak dishes. His filet mignon was so tender it just melted in your mouth. My steak was cooked perfectly and I LOVED the brussel sprouts that came with it. We didn't have any room in our stomaches for dessert but they always have special cheesecakes available that I can't wait to try. Yes, the entrees are expensive, but worth every penny. I'll pay good money for great food and that's what we got here. read more

Excellent dinner in a great restaurant. Enjoyed an 8oz lobster tail stuffed with crab and served over risotto and aspargus and my wife loved her filet mignon. Valet parking, a table near the fireplace and great service from Terry made it fine dining for sure. Some stairs are involved however so not handicap friendly. read more

Came in (with a reservation, we recommend) on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch, during the holidays season. The space is so cozy, cute and decorated for the holidays. My mother got a Bloody Mary she really liked, not too wild with garnishes, pretty classic. We shared a small plate of scallop toastados and a special salmon BLT with sweet potato fries. Our server was kind and relatively quiet. Our food came in a fine time, ample portions and well prepared. Good ingredients, nice presentation and a nice range of variety on the menu. read more

Went to Rick's on Main for my birthday dinner. We originally had a high top table that Open Table offered (only table). Called and asked for a regular table. They asked if stairs were ok and we said yes. We were upstairs in the dining room that also doubles as a party room. Was very quiet till a table of six arrived next to us. They were initially a bit loud but quieted after a bit. We chose a really nice Stag's Leap Napa merlot at $56, not bad for a high end restaurant. Justin, our awesome server, brought three crusty rolls and whipped butter. Was nice cuz guys usually eat two, or maybe just my guy! We started with a special app of scallops. Just two, but nice because I hate filling up before my meal. They had a pesto nut sauce on them. If they offer these, get them! Effing delicious! Beautifully seared and done perfectly. Our dinners were Chilean sea bass and the 6 Oz. filet. The sea bass was as good as any I had in Las Vegas where I used to order it all the time before it got fished out. I lived there for 8 years and had some of the best food I've ever eaten. That's why I'm comparing. It was crisp on the outside and melt in your mouth buttery on the inside. If you've not eaten this fish, you need to. The filet was equally delicious. Done perfectly and super tasty. We ate every dang crumb on our plates. The sauces on the fish and scallops were really good. Ended our meal with vanilla crème brûlée. One of the best brûlée's as well and a dessert I've had a lot of, so yes, I consider myself a connoisseur. This meal was worth every penny. read more

This place has been on my must visit list for years now! My father and I ended up dining there yesterday for our birthday celebration for lunch (where the menu is much more affordable.) This place is right across the street from Vidler's in the village of East Aurora , and has a cozy yet upscale ambience. Our server (Barbara or Babbs for short) was bubbly and fun yet efficient. We ordered a Banana Pepper burger with Sweet potato fries and a Turkey Club with Manhattan Clam Chowder . Everything was fresh , a nice portion and delicious . My burger was cooked to a perfect medium and the sweet potato fries were nice and crispy . My father said the Turkey club might have been the best he ever had. I would love to come back for dinner and next time I'll be sure to save room for dessert! read more
A wonderful place to dine inside or out on one of the tiered patios. Our service was very good. The setting is very relaxed as there was no rush to clear the tables and a friendly conversation could be had at the table. The food is a bit pricey, but salad portions are large ( especially for lunch). There are separate dining areas that are dark and elegant inside, along with a long bar area that you can walk thru to get to the patio levels. Note that the entrance is on the side street (Temple Place) and street parking is available. Parking lots are nearby across Main St. (behind Vidlers). The steak hoagie was tender and sweet potatoes fries were crisp but served plain (no honey / cin. butter ).We had a nice afternoon on the patio under an umbrella enjoying fresh air and flowers. read more

This place HITS. I came here for dinner yesterday with my partner and because the weather has been so beautiful, I thought it would be really difficult to get a table on the front porch. Wrong! When I called, the man on the phone was so helpful, nice, and so willing to work with us. We ended up with a reservation for 8pm that night. We started with the stuffed banana peppers. They were absolutely delicious. I didn't love how many seeds there were as we got to the base of the pepper, but these were so good I didn't even mind. We also had to get some cocktails, our server recommended the cucumber martini for me, and the blackberry manhattan for my partner. They were extremely boozy, but I love that in a dinner cocktail so I'm not complaining. We wanted to go lighter for our seconds so I got the ricks sangria (omg so good) and he got the aperol spritz, both were also very very good! My partner and I fought over who could order the herb and garlic ribeye (I won) and it was to DIE for. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the horseradish mashed actually had a strong horseradish flavor which I love, and the broccolini was HUGE! It was delicious!! He got the molasses cowboy steak, and it was equally as good. He told me it was a bit too BBQ for him, but I thought it tasted exactly as described and the croquets it came with.... let's just say he definitely did not have any of those leftover. We finished with creme brûlée, and oh my god. It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. The service was phenomenal, our server was fast, attentive but not overbearing, and was so so nice. Be prepared to pay when you come here, it's upscale food, but oh my stars is it worth it. We will definitely be returning. read more
I've heard lots about Rick's On Main and I was lucky enough to eat there as an early Mother's Day dinner to celebrate my mom! The restaurant itself is much bigger than I expected - they have a second floor and in the warmer weather they have patio space too. Our server was very kind and attentive during our visit. We were given a bread basket to start, which of course I loved as I'm a die-hard carb fan. My brother ordered the seafood sampler as an appetizer. I tried a bite of the crab cake and the fried scallop and when I say they were both out of this world, I'm not kidding. I ordered the puttanesca pasta with chicken strips. It was delicious and the portion was huge! It had a nice Mediterranean flavor and the feta cheese on top was great. Everyone else was very happy with their choices; my mom got the pork chop special and was so wowed! All in all, Rick's was a great experience. I would gladly come back because the food was on point and the service was really nice. read more
This was my 1st time at Ricks'. Very nice atmosphere. Love the soundtrack. People watching was good as well. Started with the seafood appetizer. Bacon wrapped shrimp cooked perfectly. Just a hint of char on the bacon and still plenty of snap in the shrimp. The pair were set in a semi-sweet Asian bbq sauce. Delicious. Then there were 2 breaded scallops with just the right amount of crunch and good flavor on breading while being pure scallop tenderness inside. The mini crab cakes were outstanding. Very dry and crunchy outside with moist seafood hid inside. This was also sitting in an interesting cream sauce with capers. For dinner my wife had a delicious pasta and I had the 20 oz strip steak special with mashed potatoes Andrea asparagus. Potatoes were buttery and soft and the asparagus was slightly salty and perfectly cooked. My steak was tasty yet far from cooked perfectly. I ordered medium and received rare. I ate it because I was hoping it was just a spot but it was under done. I'm ok with it but did not love it. We had tiramisu for dessert that was delicious and a cassata cake that was good. We will go back but I will probably not order the steak again. There was plenty of good choices on the menu. read more

Rick's on Main was a delicious night out this past Saturday. We enjoyed everything from the cocktails to the entrees. The stuffed banana peppers are delicious and generous in size. One order contained four peppers that were covered in cheese and set atop a layer of delicious marinara. For dinner, we got the ribeye and filet, both of which were incredibly tender. I loved the horseradish mashed potatoes for my side. We will definitely be coming back. read more
Safety measures were outstanding. Excellent service. Bread was warm and tasty with herbed butter. Crab cakes were light and prepared well. Excellent crab meat to seasoning ration. Sauces were a different but an enjoyable compliment. Cajun filet was cooked exactly to my request. Seasoned well and very tender. Veggies were delicious. Potatoes were roasted. Nothing too special but a reliable side. Maple glazed Cowboy ribeye, a little sweeter than expected, large large serving, cooked perfectly. Potato croquettes were cheesy and crispy. Creme Brûlée was tasty but the texture more pudding like than custard. I am sure it's hard to tell during the rona how many you need so maybe it just need a little more time to set. Overall a great experience and we will be back. read more
This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants! We have been going for years and every visit is perfection Ricks is located on Main Street in East Aurora in an old house....the ambiance is cozy and inviting, tonight our party of four sat outside on the lovely deck....inside the restaurant you can sit upstairs or down, no elevator so if you have trouble using stairs be sure to request downstairs...maybe close to the fireplace? Wonderful on a snowy evening Service wasexcellent...friendly yet professional Food is always outstanding with great specials, beautiful salads, soups and delicious entrees Prices are not bad for upscale Large servings read more
