I love bringing people here that have never been as it's just such a great place to show off. I brought three friends here for dinner on a Saturday. Reservations are highly recommended as they get very busy and may not have room for walk-ins. I requested a patio table, as it's a great patio and right on Main street for great people watching! Our server Brett was fantastic, and helped with all our questions and many requests. We started with the seafood sampler appetizer which was amazing. The bacon wrapped shrimp was my favorite! For our meals, two of us had the lobster pasta, and the other two had the seafood risotto. The lobster pasta is so creamy and flavorful with large pieces of lobster. It was a little saltier than normal, but still delicious. I was told the risotto was amazing as well. It was a perfect evening to sit outside and we had a great time. It was our first time dining at Rick's On Main. The valet parking was a lifesaver, because we had already driven around the block and there were no spots nearby. Our cocktails were very good, and I especially enjoyed the Mistletoe Mule. We started with a special arancini rice ball appetizer as well as the sausage stuffed hot banana peppers. The rice ball was attractive, but rather bland, really nothing special. The banana peppers were delicious, but lose points, because the seeds were left in. You can't stuff much sausage inside when it is full of seeds, maybe that was the idea, but biting a mouthful of seeds was unpleasant. Two of us ordered the Steak Gorgonzola Pasta. The meat was tender and the portion was good, but it was so heavy in garlic that it overpowered all if the other flavors of the dish. I honestly couldn't taste the gorgonzola, and interestingly the description sounds like it is full of wonderful flavors and doesn't even list garlic. A friend ordered the cowboy steak, and really enjoyed it. I was able to taste the honey glazed carrots which were delightful and the bacon and cheddar potato croquettes sealed the deal. They looked just like the arancini, but had 3 times the flavor. The service was great and the ambiance perfect. read more

A Restaurant like Ricks On Main is known as THE restaurant to dine at in East Aurora, the only issue with them is that they don't uphold to the standards of their lunch menu. If they cared as much as they did during dinner I wouldn't be giving 2 stars, but it's honestly quite sad, it's almost as if they let a 2 year experienced cook take over the lunch line. I've gone to eat twice now 5 years ago and then this year both with my mother, as a cook myself that's been in the kitchen industry all my life, Iknow what good food is, and the lunch is nothing close too it. The textures are all off and the seasoning is out of proportion, bland flavor and put together like the dishwasher needed to give hands and help out. Both times I've gone I've been absolutely disappointed and left feeling unsatisfied, they need to fix the menu or just stop serving lunch all together. Do better. read more

Classy little restaurant that feels like eating in someone's wooden kitchen as they cook exactly what you want. The menu choices were different than what was listed on here, and my dinner was more beautiful than the photos uploaded here. Dinners ranged from $22-55 in general, but specials went up into the 70s. The salads are big and desserts exquisite, and you could easily make a meal out of small plates, salad, and dessert... But the main course was fabulous so why miss out? Our server, Nick, was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and worked with the chef to accommodate requests like no sauce on the salmon or sweeter mixed drinks etc. We were there when they opened at 4 with a couple other tables, and it only got louder at 5:30 when another few tables came in. Wow! Just wow. Sat down to reservations on their beautiful patio on a Wednesday night. Ordered the seasonal margarita with jalapeño, rolled in a sugar rim by my request. Very good. We start with some apps..the stuffed banana pepper dip was surprisingly really delicious, and I'm not a fan of stuffed peppers in general, I find they are usually lacking in flavor. We also got the crab cakes with both a sweet and sour sauce and a creamy roumelade. I love how they gave enough sauce, I love to dip so it was perfect for me. On to the entrée. Chilean sea bass. Absolutely cooked to perfection. Crispy outside juicy inside. The sweet pea mashed with pancetta was really delish, could have done with less pancetta. Ordered a lavender martini, very good, booze forward. Brett our server was knowledgeable and very attentive. We will be back, thank you for a wonderful experience! read more

It's with disappointment that I'm giving this rating, but well-deserved by Rick's on Main. While the food is excellent, the service was well below average for an establishment of this par. Other customers were unhappy with the noise and we agreed. It ruined the evening. The bussers were slamming dishes the entire night, the small blonde server we had was rude and continuously slammed our dishes on the table, and our experience was a stressful experience due to this. This has been my favorite restaurant and we will never come back. We bit our tongue but could see customers around us feeling the same way. The servers need much more training. Good service. Only concern was small (miniature) bottles of Diet Coke with near (1 day) or past (2 months) expiration dates having "off" flavor. Server did although offer to replace. Traffic noise level was generally good except during periods when heavy truck traffic was passing by. Nice clean surroundings with good shade provided by movable umbrellas. read more

Had a frustrating day but wound up at Rick's for Anniversary. Glad we did. It's not our first rodeo, so we know what to expect and we're not disappointed.. the pork chop and steak Gorgonzola pasta were great. Our server, Maddie H made the whole experience, very enjoyable. I have been somewhat disappointed that a salad is not included with the meal, but on second thought, the more than ample portions are even better. If you're looking to have a nice dinner out, Rick's on Main will check all the boxes. The service was prompt and accommodating. We sat in the upstairs dining room and I liked that it wasn't too loud. The herbed butter was very good but I wished the rolls were toasted more. The dinner was up to par and came out in a timely manner. When we were visiting family our kids took us to here. We had dinner in the igloo. It was beautiful. It was so nice to be able to control the heat and music. So enjoyable to be able to be able to hear each other talk. Food was incredible. We travel a lot and are foodies. This was the best meal we have had. The server Conrad was the best. I first came here over five years ago and had one of the best meals in a restaurant. Then came back two years ago and the food was terrible. I decided to go back last night to see if they had gotten a new chef, and I'm afraid to say the answer was not only did they have the same chef, but the food was even worse than the second time I went. The seafood sampler was the first dish to disappoint. The shrimp wrapped in bacon was overcooked, the crab cakes were undercooked, and the scallops were just plain terrible. The Caesar salad didn't have a REAL Caesar dressing, so I advised the server to take it off the menu altogether. The dressing was watery and tasted bottled, and the salad was wet. My dinner partner's Miso encrusted Salmon was so salty he couldn't eat it, and the rice was severely undercooked. The asparagus were overcooked and bitter as well. My sea bass was okay but tasteless. The lemon risotto had so much lemon in it that it was inedible. If I were paying close to 200 dollars for food and overpriced wine, it would be great, and this place was far from that. Save your money... We went to Rick's after being invited out there by friends. I was really looking forward to it because it looked like it had a really good menu, although a bit on the expensive side. We got there and were seated at our reserved table with no problem. Our waiter was a bit cocky, but in a pleasant sort of way, so that wasn't an issue. The restaurant has several rooms and all are well decorated, although they have a couple of lights that are a danger to anyone over 5'8" sitting underneath them. We ordered a couple of glasses of white wine, which was very drinkable, while we waited for another couple to arrive. My husband and I decided to split a salad, as we had been told they were large, and ordered the walnut crusted warm goat cheese salad. When the dinner rolls came, I thought this was going to be one of my new favorite restaurants - warm, sourdough squares, with a hint of herbs, they were absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, that was the end of anything edible. The salad came drenched in dressing, and had been sitting in the dressing long enough that the lettuce was wilted. The walnut crust on the goat cheese might as well have been sawdust for all the flavor it had. One half of a kalamata olive in the whole salad. I ordered the seafood sampler for dinner (since the salad was supposed to be so big) and my husband got the gorgonzola pasta with steak tenderloin. The description of the seafood sampler was a far cry from what came to the table. Two tiny, breaded shrimp, with no discernible bacon wrap, mini crab cakes that tasted like Stouffer's stovetop dressing, mixed with an egg and also breaded, and two scallops, also breaded. None of them were very good and the sauces that sounded delectable on the menu were not. I thought I'd try my husband's pasta and maybe it was just a bad night for the seafood. His pasta was overcooked, with a dense, pasty sauce completely overwhelming the whole dish. No taste of white wine in this floury mess. Even the roasted red peppers tasted like they had just come out of a jar and thrown in the mix. The pasta tasted like it had been overcooked ahead of time, then run under hot water and way too much sauce added to cover up the lack of flavor or texture in the pasta. I think it's the first time I've ever seen my husband give up eating his dinner in a restaurant. A big "no thank you" when they asked him if he wanted a box to take it home. Barilla out of a box at home would have had more flavor. Too bad, we were hoping for good things, but we're definitely not going back. read more

The sea bass was buttery and paired really perfectly with the Chardonnay, and the wagyu beef was cooked medium rare and had the most amazing char flavor. My significant other and I had a lovely dinner at Rick's on Main recently. I gave this restaurant three stars mostly because prices are high and we didn't feel like our experience was consistent with the prices. I would've given them a 3 1/2 stars if that was an option, though. We were there on a Wednesday evening in January. We ordered the Thai shrimp appetizer to share, I ordered the Gorgonzola crusted strip steak entree with sweet potato fries, and he ordered the Wagyu steak special which came with roasted potatoes. Both were cooked nearly perfectly based on our medium and medium rare requests and were good. However, His Wagyu steak didn't live up to expectations. It wasn't as tender or as fatty as previous Wagyu experiences, and the flavor wasn't exceptional. The shrimp appetizer was very tasty - three massive shrimp crusted with a tasty coating and served with a jelly type dipping sauce with a nice kick. Our waiter was quite friendly and attentive but did not have the demeanor we would've expected from a pricey restaurant. At one point he asked if we wanted ketchup or honey with the sweet potato fries, and he brought out two takeout size Smuckers honey packets in response to my honey request. This was at a restaurant where entrées are $40-$60 a piece! I would go back to this restaurant and try the less expensive entrées in the summer when the front porch is open for outdoor seating, and that may be a lovely experience. But we just don't think the expensive steak entrées are worth the price. read more

I love this place. Me and my boyfriend went here for lunch and got to sit on the patio. I suggest making a reservation, even for lunch it is pretty busy. I made a reservation and we didn't have to wait at all. I got the soup sampler and half a sandwich combo, food was delicious. The tomato basil soup had amazing flavor. My boyfriend got banana pepper burger and added cheese to it. There was a lot of cheese on the burger, maybe a little too much. Only reason I did 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is taking a while to get the check, we have been waiting for 20 minutes. Other than that, everything was delicious. read more

First, when we arrived I needed to use the handicap ramp in the back of the restaurant and the young employee told our family just to park in the back employee lot because we had a handicap family member! So nice! Then in the restaurant we were immediately met by a wonderful hostess who was so accommodating to my physical needs by helping with a table and chairs to fit my needs. Our party had an exceptionally nice server who was also accommodating and fast! The food we had was amazingly delicious too! My Turkey sandwich was made with real carved Turkey! People in my party had various different things on the menu and everything was scrumptious! This restaurant is truly amazing, and I highly recommend it! I know we are going back! read more

Restaurant week participant. Heard this place was expensive so I figured this would be my best bet to come. Such a warm feeling when you walk in. They do take reservations. I ordered the Chicken Milanese. I want to say that I DID enjoy it. But I do want to note that the chicken was a little too thin and crispy. And they put a mound of arugula on top of the chicken that I couldn't even see the dish underneath. Overall, not the best chicken Milanese I've ever had but the overall experience was so great! Ummmm what??? I drove from the elmwood village all the way to east Aurora to mow down some damn good surf and turf. Like I kid you not I ate like a queen along with my royal family. We like to spend money when we go out that's for sure but I was mad impressed with what we got and each one only spending around 125. I personally got a pineapple martini , a mule, 1lb lobster tail, cowboy steak with veggies and split over 3 app with friends, coffee and fucking dessert. Not kidding! I told them I wanted the cowboy steak but also wanted to add a lobster tail and she said we should be able to do that. The server comes back a second later and goes all we have is the 16oz ones and I'm like ya soooo ??? Is that even a question yes I still want it, hell now everyone wants one. I pretty much ate everything, she was impressed. The seafood sampler is epic, the crab cakes are amazing. Food deff look a little on the longer side but they had a hot fire place next to us and a great window seat so we were okay. Near Years Eve dinner was Very Good. We ordered off the Holiday menu for something different since we order off their regular menu whenever we dine here and they are always VG. We started with the soup du jour which was Chicken and Artichoke done in a light cream base. VG. Then on to the huge Coconut Shrimp, which we split. Again, VG. Entrees ordered were the Cashew crusted Halibut with Rice and Veggie, and Seafood Risotto (Scallops, Shrimp, Lobsters over Risotto). Both VG. A nice CA Cab eased us through. Dessert? I shouldn't. Really, I shouldn't have. The Chocolate Cheesecake put me over the top, even with coffee to smooth the way. Digestif? It couldn't hurt. Fortunately they had an Amaro which really helped. Wait staff was very attentive and server (Chris) was VG. Only gig I have was the entree plate was very cold which permeated into the meal. I should have alerted the server, not to complain or wish for it to be addressed, only so the kitchen would be aware, but I didn't. If it happens again, I will. Food was good; service lacked. We arrived around 1 PM on a fairly slow Saturday. After waiting an inordinate and unnecessary amount of time for the hostess to return to her area, we were seated. We ordered and the food arrived in a timely fashion. The hostess was setting tables with a sniffly nose. Seen a few Times wiping her nose with her hand. The other server, Brittany, was taking bites of her own lunch in between serving. Approaching customers and talking with her mouthful is not fitting for a restaurant. We arrived at 2:05 and no one was near the posted sign "wait to be seated". We stood for about 5 minutes and I poked my head in to the bar room and was asked"can I help you ?" The pepper dip & seafood sampler appetizers could not have been any better. One of my guests & I had the Sea Bass, all I can say is can't wait to get back and order it again! My other guest had the Kansas City Strip, to which was cooked perfect & seasoned to perfection! Our shared desserts were also amazing. I have tried Rick's three times for dinner, I really want to enjoy this restaurant but I have honestly never had a great experience here. The food is always a disappointment, steaks undercooked, food is too salty, risotto is dry and the fish is over cooked. The absolute worse part is the service, each time we have visited the service is horrible. We have had servers be outright rude, servers be lazy - we had to ask what the specials were, after a meal is served they disappear, only to return 15 minutes AFTER we finish our meal. No one likes to sit at dinner with food and drinks done for fifteen minutes and wait for the server to return. If a server is overwhelmed then he/she needs to ask for help. They are overpriced, I do not mind paying for a great meal but the food and service need to be excellent for a fish dinner special (bass) to cost $50. The only thing I can honestly compliment are the cocktails, which were well made. read more
