This is really more of a bar that sells food than a restaurant with a liquor license: The guac and chips had no garlic, onion, tomatoes or cilantro (great if you're on a date, I suppose?) and was served in a 2 oz refrigerated container. It felt like a Weight Watchers snack than a treat. The elote soup was thick with crema, and spiced with chili, but it was cool on arrival. I absolutely hate it when I have to leave a bad review but I'm honest so it happens, me being born and raised in San Diego, I can honestly say this is not California food at all, I was happy to see they had carne asada fries (they call them Cali fries) and California burritos, since moving to NY this is the first place I've seen have them but I kinda wish they didn't now, it's not the same as you will find at taco shops in CA, let me fill you in on what 'Cali fries' carne asada fries should have on them, carne asada, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, pico, sometimes beans, for California burritos, they are called that and have carne asada, fries, cheese, sour cream or crema and pico, I'm glad I asked what kind of guacamole they have because the lady told me it has dairy in it which it shouldn't. The only thing I had that was good here was the avocado salsa. The 'carne asada' was a cheap cut of meat that looked like dog food and was so chewy with terrible flavor, it was not the traditional flank steak or skirt steak seasoned or grilled. The red and green sauce (hot sauce) looked promising but was disgusting and the green sauce was sweet. I'm being totally honest and it might come off rude but if you're looking for San Diego or California style Mexican food this is not it by any means. I asked if they are from California and the lady said the owner is. There was no ac in the building and it was extremely hot inside since they kept the sliding door open. Plenty of seating but it looked more like a bar that would be in OB than Buffalo. Maybe it's your cup of tea but not mine, try for yourself. read more

This may be a popular spot in East Aurora, but I'd consider this little shack a hidden gem in the Buffalo area. Great small menu and a good bar. You definitely get a bang for your buck. Both the tacos and burritos are big and relatively cheap, and taste really good. My only con is that it is extremely small, so good luck getting a table or spot at the bar. And because it's a small shack it tends to be very loud. But when it's nice out there is some outdoor seating. Great place for a small lunch/dinner and drinks. read more

My favorite taco joint in all of WNY. Love the Cali Burrito, even if I do have to roll myself off my chair and onto a couch to wallow in meat-induced stuffedness when I'm done. Everything on the menu is excellent and the beverages when dining in are all special, or grab yourself a Jarritos if taking on the road. If get a regular taco, just be mindful that they come with virtually no toppings out of the box, so be sure to add on to get the full experience. I personally love the carnitas above all else, whether in burrito or a taco. The pollo and carne are also fantastic. The only issue is that my wife has celiac and can't really eat here anymore. They used to have a dedicated prep space, but no longer. Hopefully, they can bring that back someday so we can visit more often! read more

After reading all these great reviews with decided to head down to East Aurora to do some shopping and try this place. Alas, we were not impressed.High prices,which is today's norm, but we didn't care for the over all flavor of our meal. We began with chips and Guacamole for $6. Just ok not worth the money. Next came the tacos starting with a Carne Asada on a flour tortilla. Chewy Steak which tasted like it had been sitting around for a while and not fresh. Next came the Birria , two chili braised beef on crisp fried tortillas. Again none of us cared for the flavor and didn't finish them. The only dish we did like was the Rolled Tacos Three shredded chicken Asado Tacos. You order at the counter and they call your name. There is a bar and an open area inside with tables. These might be my favorite tacos as of late. With the sunshine and the warm weather for those couple of days, I had to take advantage for some patio dining. And what goes better than sunshine and tacos? Not much. (Well, maybe a nice drink with it too?) I ordered and had my food so quick. The service here is so great and they seem like really great people running the show. I got the carne asada and the chicken tacos with all the fixings, chips and queso, and since it was noon, I went with a nice pineapple soda to wash it all down. The tacos were phenomenal. They had a great taste with so many different flavors all working together. Honestly, they really might be my new favorite spot for tacos. I had to stop myself from ordering more so I wasn't too full to drive home. The chips had a nice crunch and weren't overly salted or bland. They had good flavor and then the queso brought it home. A spontaneous visit to Left Coast Taco turned out to be just our luck! It was super crowded this New Year's Eve afternoon, but that only added to the experience. The hard working bar attendant was also taking food orders so that created a wait for this in-demand small business. The outdoor area had a few folks enjoying their lunch on the unusually warm-ish day. We ordered one roasted mushroom, pablanos and onion taco; one fish Baja taco; and one packed bowl. The bowl was ordered with rice, seasoned ground beef, beans, cheese, pico and crema. The bartender created a lovely fresh margarita that really hit the spot, even if it was different than our usual southwest (Texas and Colorado) ones (this was heavy on the triple sec). We snagged a table inside; I can sense a larger site may be in the future for this well run hot spot. Every bar stool was filled with the most happy people. Must be happy hour? The place was loud and humming with activity. The fish taco was cod, broiled, and next time will try it ala Buffalo, Pacifico beer battered. The mushroom taco was our least favorite and the loaded bowl was super high up there and will definitely return for more! We liked the eat in/takeaway containers being cardboardy (environmentally friendly?) even though they got flimsy on the ride home. They transferred to a real glass container just fine. Wish I had better news for the taco lovers of WNY. This was a big disappointment. Ambience is a little shabby, and it's pretty small. Service was okay, our food came out at very different times, but they are friendly in there. The food is very unremarkable. Chicken bowl was extremely bland. Couldn't believe how flavorless it was because it looks so good! I was most disappointed in the queso. I don't think I can even denote it as a queso, it's more of a cheese water. I stopped in with some friends on a Friday night, it was my first time here and I'd heard good things. It's a fast casual spot so you have to order and then grab a table and wait for your food to be called. Left coast taco is a cool spot but it's on the smaller side so it can be a little chaotic if it's busy. There are some tables, but not a ton, so you might not be able to sit if it's busy. It is definitely designed for smaller groups, like 5 or less, or great for if you are grabbing a drink. There is one larger table at the entrance and we were lucky to get a hold of it when we arrived. It was very busy so trying to hold the table and order food was a little all over the place. Once food was ready they called your name but you could barely hear or understand it. It sounded like the Charlie Brown speaker. They need to get some better announcement system or give people buzzers so people can get their order more efficiently. While we waited we enjoyed a tasty round of margaritas. I ordered the birria tacos. Good sized portion, decent flavor but the meat was a little more tough than I prefer. It didn't shred as well as it should because it could have been stewed longer. But overall not bad. We ordered another round of margaritas. This is where things got weird. My drink tasted like the first one but was about 3/4 full. My friends got drinks about 1/2 full and were glasses of triple sec. I'd maybe give this place another try, not on a weekend, and hope for more consistency and a seamless visit. read more

Okay. We're from Austin. Our taco/queso/salsa/guac/marg judgement is a high bar. (I mean if we have crap politics in Texas so we have to find something to focus on, so tacos and drinks it is.) But eating here felt like we were back in Austin on a gorgeous day. Their atmosphere is absolutely perfect. Nicki, the bar tender is the best and so much fun. She made a beautiful, sunny day that much more Sunkist (remeber that last beautiful fall day, yes, that's the one). The tacos were on point. My beef steak taco was tender and no gristle. I could have done with less lettuce but that's just an aside. My spouses marg and fish tacos were so so so good. I'd get the fish taco next time. Fried to perfection. The queso. I may have licked the container (out of the publics eye). If you ever had torchys tacos (before they fanchised ug) queso, they are very similar. The guacamole needed salt or more acid. The salsa was way too sweet and needed heat and cilantro. I can forgive the salsa bc they had Pacifico on Tap. That's a very rare and precious find. Love this place! I grew up north of San Diego and often visit family out there and this place rivals anywhere you'll go out there. Worth the drive from Buffalo every time. Margaritas are a little bit sweet, I prefer the blood orange Paloma here, but even that is a tad sweet- but I'm sure this varies by bartender. The tacos are so good and my most recent stop I got the rolled tacos (a taquito type entree) and it was delicious. Loaded toppings on the top. We ordered at the register and took our beers (they offer gluten free beer!) and went to the standing area waiting with bated breath for a table or 2 seats at the bar to open up. I expected more, so I was sort of disappointed. The taste was good, but I think they could do more with the dipping broth, like marinate it for a couple days, not sure. So this place has amazing food and everyone that works there is friendly. The woman who took our order was particularly ebullient and happy to help. It was a busy Saturday night when my cousin and I arrived. There was no place to park in their lot, so unfortunately we had to park far away. However, it was a beautiful night and we didn't mind walking. The place was packed, but inviting. Their menu is easy to navigate and order from, so we told the cashier what we wanted and waited. And waited. We wanted our food to go so we could take it home before a social engagement, but half an hour later, this was just not feasible. We finally got our orders and had to eat quickly so we wouldn't be late to meet up with friends. The food was delicious! I got a ground beef taco with all the fixings (sans cilantro...yuck) and we split an order of nachos. How yummy! All in all, this is a great Mexican restaurant. They need to iron out the kinks when it comes to getting customers orders out, but they've got everything else (food, service, cleanliness) in spades. My family and I have been multiple times and they never disappoint. The food reheats well, they've never gotten my order wrong, and the food is always done in a reasonable time. We typically do takeout but even if there's a line to dine in, they prioritize/start another line for the takeout customers, which I always appreciate. The staff is friendly.
