Cool eclectic place. There is parking for this place They seated us immediately asking us where we preferred to sit. Server was very prompt and even though we sat outdoors we were attended to as if we were inside. 5 stars just for this part. We both got a light summer cocktails. My friend got watermelon spritz and i got the summer tan sangria. She got a salad and I got a katsu sandwich with a side salad. Didnt take long for food to come. Impressed that the food was so good. Katsu was lightly battered w panko. Delicious- and crispy and the meat was still tender and not dry. Absolutely enjoyed this. I wish i lived here for the food :) Will be back when we are back in town
Brought my wife and kids to Culinary Dropout for Mother's Day brunch and we had a great experience overall. The ambiance is one of the biggest highlights here. It's spacious, open, airy, and has a really fun energy that makes it perfect for Mother's Day, Father's Day, or any family brunch. There's plenty of outdoor seating and games near the cornhole area, which gave the kids room to run around and play while the parents could actually relax and enjoy their meal. Service was very good throughout the visit, and the food came out surprisingly fast considering how busy they were for the holiday. Food-wise, I'd put it around a solid 3.5-4 out of 5. My vegetarian wife really enjoyed the breakfast bowl, which was a great option for her. My son and I both ordered the breakfast burrito, and we also shared the French toast for dessert. Everything was presented beautifully, but the burrito leaned a little heavy on the carbs and could have used more eggs and sausage. The French toast tasted good, but it was slightly dry and would have benefited from real maple syrup instead of just the drizzle they provide. Overall, though, we had a really enjoyable experience. Great atmosphere, family-friendly setup, solid service, and good brunch options. Definitely a place I'd recommend if you're looking for a fun brunch spot.
The deviled eggs were incredible. Sorry, no picture because they disappeared way too fast! The crispy spicy tuna bites just weren't my favorite, but the Mac Burger was excellent and definitely the standout entrée. The fish and chips were good, just not quite as memorable. Overall, a fun spot with a great atmosphere, and I'd definitely come back to order those deviled eggs again.
My wife and I recently went to dinner at Culinary Dropout for the first time together at the Yard. We have both visited before for work meetings or with friends separately but not for a full meal. We have been to other Culinary Dropout locations and have always enjoyed it. This visit was no different. We got there early before our reservation and decided to sit at the bar though it was busy, and it took some time to find two seats. Once we sat down, the bartenders were pleasant and helpful, and drinks were prepared rather quickly. We had a relatively favorable experience at the table when ordering food, and we fortunately did not have to wait long at the host podium for our reservation. The food was very good, and we will likely return another day. When we were seated, our server quickly identified herself. We ordered Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue (our favorite!) as an appetizer. They arrived and were delicious! We then ordered a Classic Caesar Salad with Salmon & a M.A.C. Burger with fries as our entrees. They also showed up in a reasonable amount of time and were tasty. We finally ordered Monkey Bread for dessert, which came out well and yummy. The service in general was good, and the server made a point to offer rapport. A manager also stopped by to greet us and to ask how our meal was, which is always appreciated. We also enjoyed live music that was being performed not too far from our seats. This Culinary Dropout location differs from the other locations as it has The Yard (which the Tempe location does, too), which is essentially a large, social hangout spot (often a renovated garage) with lawn games, fire pits, and an indoor-outdoor bar designed for casual dining, drinks, an entertainment. One of the big challenges with this location is the parking. There is self-parking during weekday lunch though you have to use valet (which is complimentary) at all other times, and there is quite a wait to drop off a car or pick one up on the weekend (and possibly the evenings). If you go to the Culinary Dropout website (https://www.culinarydropout.com), there are sometimes promotions where you can get a $20 or $30 bonus promo gift card for every $100 in gift cards you buy. You can also make reservations on the website (or OpenTable), learn about upcoming live music performances, and see each location's menu. Also, if you sign up for their Ebites (https://www.culinarydropout.com/ebites-email-signup), you will get a coupon for $10 off a $20 purchase and get notified about special events and offers.
Came here on a Saturday with a group of eight. Upon arrival, valet was available, but we were in an Uber. The entrance is a bit unassuming and could easily be mistaken for another establishment, but it has a cute charm. Inside, the space is roomy with plenty of seating and an open kitchen that lets you see all the cooking action. The restrooms are labeled for men and women, but the space itself is unisex. They had a Saturday special with $7 brunch cocktails and live music, which added to the overall vibe. Our party ordered a variety of items, but what stood out to me was the steak and frites (not listed on the menu but available to order) and the kale and butternut squash salad. Overall, this place was great, and I'll definitely be visiting the location in my home state. From what I understand, the menu changes often, so if you see something you like, don't wait!
I had a great dinner at Culinary Dropout. Our waitress was outstanding--she was attentive without being overbearing and gave us perfect recommendations. I ordered the Korean Style Ribeye Cap, which had the perfect amount of spicy kick. My friend went with the Roasted Salmon, and it was cooked to perfection--a total 10/10. For drinks, don't be intimidated by the ingredients in 'The Hass' mocktail. It sounds like a wild combination, but it tastes exactly like key lime pie with a bit of fizz. It was like dessert in a glass! I wanted to self park but that didn't work well. They do have complimentary valet so that's nice. I wish I could give 4.5/ 5. The only negatives were we had a 15 minute wait but there were several empty tables when we got seated. Maybe a tad bit pricey, but at least the food was tasty. I updated my review to 5 stars because I love the fact that the business checks review. It shows they value the customer experience. I'll be back in for sure!
Yummy. My friend invited me to go here for Arizona restaurant week. Didn't disappoint. The spicy rigatoni and the pork rib were mouth-watering. I also loved the pretzel fondue and the desserts!! Oh my. I was so full at the end of the meal. Nice that they have valet parking and the service was wonderful. It's such a big location and looked like a fun place to come as a group as well.
WOWWW!! This place was unassuming but absolutely delicious. All six people in our group were super happy with their meals (only three pictured here). Not one miss! The fried chicken was perfectly cooked with great flavor and an extra crispy crust. The biscuit that came with it was buttery, fluffy, and melt-in-your-mouth good. The chicken katsu sandwich blew all expectations out of the water. The crisp on the chicken was perfect, and the spicy miso aioli paired so well with the soft Japanese milk bread, keeping every bite flavorful and moist. The Asian crunch salad was my personal favorite. We added salmon, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned with a nice crispy outside. Phenomenal. The dressing tied everything together, and the mangos were a fun, bright touch that made each bite pop. Even the small details impressed me. The Arnold Palmer was perfectly balanced (not too sweet!) and ended up being bottomless, which our server kept refilling without us even asking. Speaking of service, our waitress was genuinely so sweet and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Great music, sports games on the TV, cornhole, ping pong, and a perfect spot to hang out and unwind. Overall, such a memorable meal and experience. I'll go back next time I'm in phx.
Culinary Dropout is bistro with a passion for great food, expertly crafted cocktails, and a deep love of music, they defy the conventional dining experience... There is corn hole and pong ping in the back! We came here for lunch and I got the French dip with fries!!! The service was ok this time, the server did not mention all the sides available, we had to remind them for refills tho!
Had a great experience at Culinary Dropout. Started with their pretzel bites which were delicious with the warm cheese dip. We al had the steak frites which were cooked perfectly and tasted great. Don't pass up the brown bag special... surprise beer in a brown bag. Always fun. Very great vibe and our server was great. You won't be disappointed.
Service was great and we had a very big group. Food was super good . It was a wonderful event that they catered at their private room. You can earn the fifth star by not suppling straws or plastic containers for take out.
We had such a fun and memorable time! The service was great, and the DJ kept the energy high with fun music all night. The atmosphere was vibrant, with plenty to look at, and the restaurant was clean and well-kept. Everyone loved the food. We started with the Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue and the Crispy Brussels Sprouts -- both were delicious. The pretzels come in a generous portion, making them perfect for sharing with a large party. We all enjoyed cocktails, which were refreshing and unique. The Evil Jungle Princess is my go-to every time I visit. For mains, the Chopped Chicken Salad was packed with flavor and is one of our favorite salads on the menu. I had the Chicken Cacio e Pepe, and it was outstanding -- the perfect amount of sauce and full of flavor. Overall, an energetic, delicious, and all-around great experience!
Decided to come back again and brought a friend from out of town. Had the brilliant thought to actually reserve a table, and thank goodness I did. It wasn't super busy when we rolled in around 7:30, but the line behind us got long fast. Not my usual deep-dive review since I was more focused on catching up with my friend, but here's the rundown: I kicked things off with the Paloma Spritz. Bubbly, bright, and not overly grapefruit-y (which I appreciated). Solid start. We ordered the Crusty Bread with Garlic Oil & Balsamic. Flavor was nice, but the execution? Odd. The bread was toasty but cold. And instead of dipping into oil and vinegar, it was already poured over the bread, which made it less of a shareable snack and more of a soggy situation. Tasty, but not the experience we expected. Next up, the Spicy Shrimp Crispy Rice (avocado, kimchi rice, chili crunch, sweet soy). I took one bite and nope. The "sweet soy" was a sticky puddle at the bottom and so salty I couldn't taste anything else. No kimchi tang, and I swear I didn't spot a shrimp. My friend ate it, though she was also unimpressed, but it was a miss for me. They redeemed the experience with the soup of the day: French Onion. THIS is where they shine. Rich, beefy broth, onions caramelized to perfection. Honestly impressive. Only letdown: the bread and cheese topper was just a sad little triangle with half-melted cheese, so it turned soggy quick. Still, I'd 100% order it again, I even texted my husband to say that we HAVE to get it if we're there when it's on the menu. Overall: drinks stay winning (8/10), the food is hit or miss (currently at a 6/10 for me), but the vibe and patio are unmatched. We were sitting outside in 108° weather and I was chilly in shorts! The misters and fans are seriously that good. Patio gets a 30/10, no question. I'll keep coming back, if only to sip something cold under the best patio setup in Phoenix.

Great vibe. Out of everything we ordered the nachos were probably my favorite. They employees were nice and accommodating (I asked for a different table as the high set chairs weren't comfortable for me). This wouldn't necessarily be a place I would come for dinner too often but it's definitely a nice happy hour/after work place. read more

Hi Zamaree, thank you so much for the feedback and for 4 stars! We…
Came here for lunch after checking out the Uptown Farmer's Market! While it was just my husband, dog, and I but there was so much seating and looked great for large groups. The outdoor space is the same if not bigger than indoor seating! We were blown away with the service - we ordered 2 dishes and they offered to separate each into 2 plates so we could share easier! They also brought water out for my dog which was nice. We got the fish n chips and prime rib sandwich. Both delicious and huge portions. Side of fries were ok. The side salad was pretty good. Fish crispy yet super soft on the inside. Sandwich looked dry but was really good and moist. Great place to bring a group of friends or those from out of town! read more

Hi Amanda!…
We only tried some appetizers... we actually only wanted to try the pretzels. After seeing on instagram. Well, they did not disappoint. My only recommendation would be a little more salt. But the flavor is out of this world. The chips and onion rings were tasty. Hope to get back some time and try more. read more

It's a very busy place so see if you can get reservations. We came while visiting from Ca. For a GCU night. Saturday night 5:40 was going off. Not a huge menu but we all found something and enjoyed our meals. We split a chopped salad and French dip and they split it for us and it was good portions. The nachos were huge and everyone enjoyed them. I liked my red wine and hubby enjoyed his beer. Another in our group had the Paloma and ordered a second so it must have been yummy. Also, enjoy the games to be played- ping pong, corn hole and more read more

The food and menu here is AWESOME and the venue is REALLY COOL! We met as a group of friends here (made reservations prior) on a Sunday and the place was almost packed. There were lots of other groups there, as they have so many large areas for single groups to congregate, sit & sip and dine. I really love their menu and the food came out perfectly executed too! They have a nice cocktail menu and the prices aren't outrageous. They offer the typical "pub fare" as well as healthy options, like their salmon, as well as many others. Service was decent, not the best as we didn't get as much attention as we would have liked. But the friendship and catching up we did was most important and we love that they left us to socialize with our friends, while serving us some really good eats... Their fried chicken is really good and the biscuit that comes with it is amazing. Their paloma spritz was outstanding! Definitely can't wait to come back here! read more

Hi there, Thank you for the feedback. I am sending you a direct…
Let me start off by saying that I have been resisting the urge to dine here, and after talking to a friend about this restaurant I finally caved. I decided to make a reservation, after about an hour of drooling over the menu pictures. We arrived at 6:43, and waited in the complimentary valet line for about 7-8 minutes. After waiting, a valet person told me. "We are full you can park somewhere else and walk back." We were able to find a CVS down the road about 1/2 a mile down the road, and ended up walking a grand total of about a mile. Ladies I had to change from my heals into flats. As I walked up to the restaurant around 7:15 PM, all dressed up for couples night, I saw a long line of vehicles in the valet line being parked by the same person. I guess the valet does not keep reserved spots for those guests with reservations, which was surprisingly inconvenient. That was the our valet part of the experience- Zero stars! The restaurant vibe was that of a fun youthful-new downtown popping restaurant. There were people everywhere, and outside there were people playing different types of outdoor games. They had a live band playing, which was a nice touch. Our server was polite. I think our server's name was Cat? She would show presence after the food runner brought out items of the menu we requested, to ensure everything was satisfactory. The staff has a real group mentality. Cat suggested a beer of the day for my husband, which was 12-14%- It was dark, smooth, and delicious. I chose a simple Margarita on the rocks with the sugar rim. A friend ordered a smoked old fashion, yummy. After seeing the exquisite skills of the bar. I wish I would have ordered a martini. After looking at menu, I knew the 3-4 dishes I was going to try. Wow, the pretzel bites with cheese fondue were a superb appetizer to share with a large group. The cheese is kept warm on top of a cute candle powered burner/warmer. The fish and chips... You mean fish nuggets? Maybe if one of the 3 nuggets were a true fillet I would have wanted more. Please note there was excess oil because of the extra breading that had to be utilized for the smaller nuggets. That being said, the fish was tender and tasted fantastic. The meat loaf was thick and juicy- The way your grandmother would make it. My 36-hour pork ribs were cooked to perfection, and tasted heavenly. The coleslaw was delicious; however the mash potatoes could use some help. The best dish of all was the Korean style ribeye cap. Every bite was impressively tender, and cooked the way the chef recommended. The taste of the onions and mushrooms it was served with was phenomenal. I have added photos of the food and drinks I ordered. If you are going to eat here, you are sure to enjoy it! read more

The parking here is not ideal, so be prepared to valet. Once inside though, it's a very cool experience! A lot of the seating is in the covered outdoor patio area but there are heat lamps for when it's chilly. The dining area is surrounded by fire pits and the outdoor gaming area, definitely cool for people watching. The service here is good and my large party enjoyed a majority of what we ordered. I recommend the pork belly nachos, the prosciutto deviled eggs, and the totally mouthgasmic butternut squash lasagna. WOW!! The MAC burger was also good. You can't go wrong with any of the desserts but the candy bar brownie made me melt into a puddle on the floor. MUST TRY!! read more

Food was good, fried chicken really good. Appetizers-tuna thing was nice. Home made potato chips good, but little cold. Sat at bar, ok service. Little lacking in personal connection but the chicken and pink Margaritas made up for that. Won't rush back, but def will go back. That fried chicken was so good!! Customer service could be better though. read more

Hi Justin,…
First time here and it was just ok. The place had a cool vibe with lots going on. Just too bad the food didn't match the environment Salads were made to accommodate food allergies which was appreciated. The Katsu sandwich was bland with a small portion of chicken. The fried chicken was overcooked and spent too much time in the fryer. Was so looking forward to this hyped up item and was a big let down. The biscuit was the best part of the meal. Not a good first experience and will be passing on future dining. read more

My husband and I made reservations for Culinary Dropout for Valentine's Day. When we arrived, they were offering free valet parking, so we took advantage and dropped our car off right near the front door. The valet drivers were quick and were very friendly at both pickup and drop off. Once we made it to the hostess table, we were seated immediately. My only qualm of the night was how close our table was to the couple next to us. It would have been hard for someone to walk between the tables. It felt like we were eating with them, and it was hard not to look at them/overhear their conversation. It definitely took away from the romantic, one-on-one vibe we were looking for that evening. Aside from this, the cocktails, food, and service were wonderful. They offer a build-your-own charcuterie board where you select which meats, cheeses, and accoutrements you want on the board. Everything we selected was great (sorry, no picture - we dug right in!), although at $4 to $6 per item, the portion sizes seemed small. For example, we selected deviled eggs and received three egg halves, and we got two small slices of manchego cheese. We split the vegan curry as our entrée and wow was it good! We would order it again. The menu described it as spicy, and we expressed concern for the heat level to our server. He brought us a small cup of the curry to test before we ordered it, which we really appreciated (we didn't find it spicy at all, and we have no heat tolerance). Also appreciated: they split it into two bowls for us without us asking. Overall we had a nice evening. This was not our first time at Culinary Dropout and it won't be our last. read more

We have been several times in the afternoon and it was great! But we came on Saturday night and it was a disaster it took an hour and 32 minutes to get seated and then they MADE us sit inside where it was so loud we couldn't hear one another or even hold a conversation. Food took another hour. Fried chicken was hot and good but potatoes are cold and coleslaw was warm! Not sure I recommend coming back here! We are older and I understand what their customer base is but this was ridiculously loud and very annoying. IFried ChickenFried Chicken read more

Culinary drop out has always been one of our favorite places to eat in Phoenix and with many locations throughout the valley, it makes it convenient no matter where you are. We met a friend from out of town here, and we're about 30 minutes early for our reservation so we grabbed a few drinks at the bar. If you're looking for a refreshing drink, the Tequila Spa Water is for you! We started with the pretzels , great appetizer to share! Unlike other restaurants, the pretzels are individual soft pretzel bites, so you don't have to battle with a huge pretzel. I got the Steak Frites with house chips instead of fries, and I already can't wait to go back for that again! The truffle butter was the perfect amount to accent the flavors of the steak. HIGHLY recommend. read more

We originally ordered the "Rainbow Trout" and the "Cheddar & Potato Pierogies" but our server returned with bad news, they were out of both. Granted we did come at the very last hour. But she still comped us with an appetizer, the "Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue." Then we ordered the "Korean Style Ribeye Cap" which was delicious! We devoured it. Since we were celebrating a birthday they gave us a complimentary dessert of the birthday girl's choice, she chose the "Buttermilk Pie." She loved it. It had fresh in-house made cream, strawberries, towered on a lush pie. Eliza was our server and she was very nice, polite, and kind! read more

My favorite restaurant that I went to when I was in Arizona! The atmosphere was incredible and very lively! Arizona in February is perfect for this place! I got a turkey sandwich with a side salad and my friend got a waffle combo. We both loved both of our meals! The way the restaurant is set up, there is only valet parking which I was not aware of but thankfully had cash on me, so make sure you have cash for valet! Overall loved the atmosphere, even the bathroom was gorgeous, delicious food, decent price, you can't beat it! read more

Hi Ashley, thank you so much for the review! We are so glad you…
Super cute vibe. This place is huge! I got a table outside and it was one of those fantastic Phoenix night that felt like fall (but it was 105 earlier in the day). Drinks were tasty. I had the red sangria, my sister got a Paloma and husband had some draft beer. Food was also delish. My sister got a big salad (i think was Cobb) she loved it. My husband got the fried chicken and loved it (huge portions) and I got a side salad and the pesto pasta. Pasta was good but I was surprise the noodles were green lol the true star of the show though: PRETZEL BITES! Get them. A little misleading because in no way are the bite size lol i expected like chicken nugget size but they were like Hawaiian roll size. Super soft and warm and the cheese fondue was *chef's kiss* read more

culinary dropout never disappoints! I always enjoy coming to this location for the food & the vibes. it's typically pretty loud and busy, so just know that going into it! the service is great even when it's busy and I've enjoyed chatting with everyone I've met who works there. when it comes to the food, I always order the soft pretzels and fondue. it's amazing and it comes out so hot! you truly can't go wrong with the fried chicken as your entree. the chicken is perfectly crispy and juicy and the side of mashed potatoes is extra yummy!! last time I tried the monkey bread and it was beyond delicious!
