VOTED best meal on my vacation! I had a lot of bookmarks for this trip, but someone with us has a lot of food restrictions that negated 99% of my choices. "YEE- HAW" was my reaction when she said she could find something to eat here. 1 person in our party had a flight out at 7pm, so we made 5:30 reservations on a Friday. This place is on caliber with any San Francisco restaurant - it has a unique (and local) menu items combined with great service. I ordered and loved a specialty cocktail with local AK gin and cinnamon, I don't recall ever seeing cinnamon in a cocktail before We started with some of the most delicious brussels sprouts I have ever had, with Panko bread crumbs, herbs, cheese and a poached egg!!! Hubs and I spit the polenta appetizer and the double cut pork chops. Pork chops was perfect juicy and smoky, tender and savory - also a Huge cut of meat. The polenta was also perfection, tangly with goat cheese, etc,! - crispy and tender. We spilt (okay I ate 75% of it) the s'mores dessert, which is a chocolate mouse covered in salted homemade graham cracker crumbs and a torched marshmallow topping. It was the SALTED crumbs in the middle that elevated this dessert to new heights. Our friends had the salmon and the halibut and they loved theirs. Our server was great - I forget his name, but he moved to Alaska for love over 20 years ago and is still here. Price was very reasonable for food and service. Had a really nice meal here! We split the red wine tasting and it was a perfect way to try a few of their featured wines. We started with the goat cheese salad - this was amazing! I got the gnocchi with peas & pesto. It was pretty good bit not my favorite. My husband got the rigatoni and it was SO GOOD. Overall a good experience, service was a little slow - but I'd still reccomend. read more

The menu has a good assortment of fish, beef, chicken and lamb entrees. We shared the brussels as a starter. It was a big hit. Their special was a sockeye salmon. I had the swarmy. I loved this little place we stumbled upon on our trip. It's a wine bar but they have cocktails too. They are Covid aware and have mainly outdoor seating but you can still sit inside, just scattered, and the servers all wear masks. The reason I gave 4 stars was because some things I really loved, and somethings weren't that great so it's hit or miss. The hits: wine, Brussel sprouts (loved that they added a poached egg!), elote, and the mushroom gnocchi. Super duper good food here. Was not too fond of the Pork Belly Carnitas Appetizer as there was just too much going on for me and my friend's preferences but each individual part of the dish was still good when snacked on separately. Everything else was amazing and super spot on. I would highly suggest that you get the s'mores dessert if nothing else because it was hands down the absolute best dessert I have ever had at a nicer restaurant or any food place for that matter, hands down. I'm not even really a s'mores lover either but that thing was nothing short of perfection. I'm drooling thinking about it. The ambiance was pretty cute and trendy and definitely more laid back. I had a lovely dinner at Crush. In Anchorage for work and while I enjoy sampling at the craft brew places, Crush was a nice alternative when you're in the mood for wine and a nice meal. Downtown near everything, quieter than the brewpubs, but great ambience and service. I'll be going back to Crush the next time I'm in town. read more

Food was outstanding - would have loved to have tried more things on the menu. We tried the polenta with mushrooms a sherry cream sauce, spinach and sun dried tomatoes and a shaved fennel green apple pecan mixed salad followed by a fantastic red salmon with incredible smoked purple potatoes and superbly seasoned shiitakes and bok choy all on some mild aioli. Cole had a really delicious (albeit a little gristly and fatty) steak au poivre with way too many fries. We finished with an amazing baked alaska with pistachio ice cream. Wine was great and the wine flights are a relative bargain ($16 for 3 half pours vs $11 for a glass) Service was friendly but clueless (as in the server struggling to answer can you tell me about this tasting flight? This was a great find in our six days staying in Anchorage. The restaurant was clean and modern, the staff was very friendly and attentive and the food that we had was spectacular. I ordered the pork chop, which was probably the best pork chops I've ever had. My work partner ordered the wild boar meatball, which was also amazing. Crush quickly became our go-to spot for pandemic-era take & bake, as their menu was always approachable and the meals delicious, even at home! We were so excited to return to the restaurant while a friend was in town visiting, and it did not disappoint. We shared everything - mostly because we couldn't decide and wanted to try as much as possible. We began with the crab artichoke dip, a rose flight, plus a Pink 75 and a My Blue Heaven... all of these were excellent choices, and I'd make them again in a heartbeat. The crab artichoke dip was creamy, perfectly salted and not overwhelmingly cheesy - just the right amount, accompanied by the softest bread that simply melted in your mouth. Next up were the oysters, both specials, raw and baked - and they were excellent, Alaskan oysters, bit briny and large, and the bloody mary shaved ice was very fun. They were sadly overshadowed by the surprise hit of the evening, the special appetizer scallops that arrived beautifully seared and arranged in a tic-tac-toe style with scrumptious offerings to accompany them. There were homemade pickles, a gorgeous arrangement of eggplant, baby boy chow, seaweed chips, I could go on - check out the picture, because it was easily the best thing we ordered probably in Anchorage this go-round. We used the bread from the dip (no, of course we couldn't let them take the soft bread!) to mop up the sauces from the scallops, they were so delicious. For entrees, we shared the potato gnocchi, crispy polenta and toasted goat cheese salad. While not usually one to favor salads, I can say with gusto that I would order this again and again, with my only complaint being that I wish there were more goat cheese! The potato gnocchi came with a creamy marsala and fresh mushrooms, all of which were a perfect compliment to the slightly pan roasted gnocchi cooked to perfection, like little pillows of happy potato pasta (that's the translation for gnocchi, right???). Very very very delicious food! I recommend having a reservation on a Saturday evening. Upon arrival the place was loud and busy but seating was fairly quick. My waitress was attentive to get my drinks and food started. The food was not only appealing to look at but tasted very very very good. The Halibut, brussel sprouts, red wine flight and Old Fashion are a must try! Special shout outs to Chef Rob Lewis in the kitchen making the dishes magical and Waitress Lynne T. for delivering with care and making my special day memorable! I absolutely love this restaurant. One of my favorite in Anchorage. Not only does is supply amazing and unique wines, with continually fluctuating and changing wine lists that go fairly deep, but they also have a phenomenal list of uniquely crafted cocktails, and amazing food to boot. Whether it's for a drink an apps kind of night or a special occasion dinner this is the spot. Additionally, the staff could not be more welcoming and personal. Fabulous place with great food and atmosphere. We were actually walking by this restaurant and the our eye caught a glimpse of the food and the smell and we instantly had to try it. It did not disappoint, so far this steak was the best I've tasted in Alaska so far. The sauces and all the extra features provided the best addition to steak I've ever tasted. This was our favorite meal in Anchorage by a landslide! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We didn't have a reservation so we had to wait a bit, but we enjoyed our time waiting in the Crush bottle shop next door where we bought some delicious wines and chose one to complement our dinner. They were able to seat us relatively quickly on a Thursday, but I would highly recommend reservations if dining here on a weekend. I can't remember all the details of what we ordered, but the appetizers was a duck pate with morel mushrooms which was delicious, and my entree was nothing short of orgasmic. I almost did my Meg Ryan imitation from When Harry met Sally, but there were some families present, so I restrained myself. The ambiance was just right for a wine bar in Anchorage... kind of casual but very classy. The only problem is that they aren't open on Sunday nights because we were craving a return visit, however we fortunately discovered the Pump House and had another fantastic meal there. read more

On our last night of our honeymoon in Alaska, for our last meal, my husband and I came to Crush on the recommendation from a local. I made a reservation for the two of us for a Friday night at 5:30 PM. They are limiting capacity and following all necessary health and safety precautions due to COVID-19. To start, my husband and I ordered their crab dip and mac & cheese to share. The crab dip was creamy and full of delicious crab. It was served with warm, fresh bread. The mac & cheese was gooey but had the perfect toasted top. We also decided to split a Caesar salad - it was well dressed and the dressing had the perfect tang to it. For our entrée, we share the seared halibut. The halibut was so fresh and flavorful. The roasted veggies paired with it perfectly as did the mashed potatoes. The portions here are just too meager. I got the two egg breakfast and I could've eaten 3 of them. The piece of bacon was the length of two postage stamps. It was smaller than the ramekin of ketchup that came with it. Maybe raise the price of this dish a little and up the portion size? Also, service was spotty. I was brought my food and no one checked in on my for 10 minutes. My coffee was empty, I needed hot sauce, and I needed something to put on my toast. I was at a dining stalemate. read more

Crush is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Anchorage. Fresh and local ingredients, creative menu items, and just the right balance between new dishes and old faves always available. It was a particularly delightful upgrade when they started serving cocktails a couple years ago. And it speaks to my heart and soul and palate that they always have some good rosés available. I am ESPECIALLY grateful that they've been doing such an excellent job with their creative and delicious take-and-bake menu and outdoor seating so we can still support and enjoy them during the pandemic. read more

I rarely give five-star reviews; this place deserves it. This was my first time dining at this restaurant which was recommended by friends and family. It was a special occasion dinner which we hosted for a party of 17, all from out of town. You can understand we were nervous about such a large dinner at such a pricy restaurant we had never visited before. The staff worked with me before the occasion to select two wines, which would be replenished as the bottles were quickly drained - we had six bottles on the table at all times, and refills appeared like magic. Our group was a little... chaotic, in our ordering but the staff handled it marvelously. We were constantly ordering, beer, wine, cocktails, plates of appetizers, even after the entrees had been cleared away. All of our main plates arrived within a minute or two of each other, which I acknowledge was quite a feat by the service and kitchen. The food was uniformly outstanding. I had the halibut, which was served in a buttery sauce that was simply delicious. Several members of our group had the salmon special - even I liked that one and I don't particularly care for salmon. We probably had every appetizer and dessert on the menu, as well as a selection of beer, cocktails, wines by the glass, aperitifs and digestifs. Everyone had a great time, and was impressed by the experience. $1700 well-spent. I absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant - they made our special occasion a bit more special. read more
