This is hands down the best sandwich place and my new go-to sandwich spot in SF. This little sandwich place never disappoints. The prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality you receive. I tried both the chicken pesto and rosemary chicken sandwiches and they were both absolutely delicious. The meat was so juicy and paired perfectly with the flavorful sauce. The bread was soft and warm on the inside, not too hard on the outside. Their smoothies are also excellent. The staff was also incredibly accommodating, giving me extra sauce on the side when I requested it. This place definitely deserves a solid 5-star rating. read more

Cute and tasty spot in Nob Hill. There isn't much space indoors but a few tables outside to eat at. Got the mozerella and avocado sandwich on a croissant and it was DELICIOUS! Earl grey latte was pretty watered down but still not bad. Will definitely be coming back :) read more

Great place for coffee and a quick bite to eat. The way that they cook eggs makes the English breakfast sandwich a bit wet and slippery and messy to eat, but the flavor (mostly provided by the maple sauce) is delicious. The place itself is quite small but they provide a surprising amount of seating. Great menu, great service. I would come back again! read more

It doesn't seem like that long ago that this place was resurrected from the Coffee Cabin. It has been here for several years though so they're doing something right! I've been a couple of times over the years. Today I decided to try a breakfast sandwich. I ordered an ultimate sandwich with ham. It really was spot on. Very tasty. I also had a large coffee and I have to say it was also very good. Nice and smooth and not bitter or burnt tasting which is so common in places like this. I'm glad to see this place still has a solid 5 stars and I'm glad I can contribute to that rating. read more

I really enjoyed the crunch toast topped with thinly sliced avocado, fluffy eggs on top of thin layer of tangy herb sauce. My husband ordered the sandwich with egg, spinach,bacon and tomato with a layer of sweet Mayo sauce on the bottom. This is a great place for breakfast sandwiches and a hardy smoothie. Located on top of the hill, it's a walk up but definitely worth it. Having a seat outside, people watching, and enjoying their food is a nice SF experience. I came last Saturday early noon and ordered a breakfast sandwich with pesto sauce on the side. OMG their pesto sauce is like no other and probably the best pesto sauce I've ever tried. I dipped my bagel sandwich into this pesto sauce on every bite. I also loved their breakfast smoothie which had blueberries, coconut milk, oats, and more. It was flavorful and tasted super healthy and delicious. These two items made an excellent pair. This place is pricey for sure; I paid $12 for the bagel and about $11 for the smoothie. It's most definitely worth it and I recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick bite in the city. read more

I love this place! I live down the street from here and come at least once a week for a small breakfast and a latte. Not only is the service incredible (lovely and friendly staff) the food and drinks are delicious and affordable, especially for the area. One other thing I really appreciate is that you can swap out the regular milk for nondairy options like oat or almond milk and it only costs like $0.50. I'm so used to spending at least a dollar just to be able to drink lattes etc., due to my lactose intolerance so it's very much appreciated. The espresso tastes really good as well! My go tos are the regular latte, French lavender latte, matcha latte and the mocha all with almond milk. The latte is solid and the flavored drinks aren't too sweet. You can also ask the barista to make the drinks less sweet if you'd like. Also note that they do have a caramel latte for my fellow caramel lovers. It's not on the menu for some reason but I noticed the caramel bottles on the counter, asked about it, and I just got one today and it was good too! As for the food I'm a sucker for avocado toast which is simple and filling enough for me. I love the toasty bread they use as it has a nice texture almost like a huge wheat cracker! I recommend it. I don't normally like my sweet with my savory meals but the honey sauce they put on it is pretty good. It is simple but it works. I am also a fan of the salmon dill crostini which was light and fresh tasting, perfect with a cup of coffee. Seating is limited but there are some tables outside. It can get chilly so be prepared for that but the view is nice. It's a nice place to chat with a friend or two as well! Give this place a shot! I see there are smoothies and sandwiches too and I look forward to trying them. Definitely one of my favorite coffee places in the area. read more

Wonderful quaint place with good coffee and delicious crostinis, sandwiches and bagels. My fave was the Crostini with prosciutto, sliced apples and drizzled with honey. The Turkey Croissant sandwich was also good but a bit rich with the mayo. Also, by the time they add the swizz cheese, tomato slices, it became quite a big snack. Small place with only about 5 chairs inside and two small tables outside . Most people get their food to go. Happy Eating!! read more

Came here for breakfast and it's walking distance from the Holiday inn. The place is super quaint and cute but seating was limited inside and out. We dined in and it was clean and comfortable and our server spoke Spanish and super personable. We had the lavender latte and the Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich. They were super accommodating in making mine with vegetarian and/or vegan options and serving the avocado on the side rather than in the sandwich. They played salsa music; loud enough to enjoy but soft enough to allow for conversation. Overall, a very nice place for a lunch date or coffee with a friend. read more

I just had The Works bagel sandwich and I can confidently say it is the BEST bagel sandwich I have ever had in my life, with no close 2nd. And it's not like I'm somebody who hasn't had a lot of bagel sandwiches! They're one of my favorite breakfast items and seriously, this place is the best one you'll ever have. The flavors!!! Oh my gosh. The maple Dijon has to be one of the most unique condiments ever, and you get a lovely taste of it in every bite. The bagel was fresh and toasty, the eggs were delicious, and the bacon and turkey were incredibly juicy as well. I've wanted to try this place for a long time so I'm glad I finally did and that it lived up to the hype. They also have coffee, lunch sandwiches and delicious pastries -- I can't wait to come back and try everything! ...and by the way, I'm still thinking about the maple Dijon :) I would love to meet the chef behind Crostini & Java so I can thank them in person for expanding my world of flavor!! read more

I had a San Francisco layover, and was searching for a breakfast place and found this on Yelp. I ordered the Avocado and Egg Aioli Croissant, and I was given a Bacon & Egg instead. Weird! For some reason, the guy entered my order incorrectly, so I had to wait a little longer for my breakfast. No Big Deal! Mercury is currently in Retrograde, so I just waited patiently. The place is tiny, so it's not suitable for big crowds. However, they have a small sitting area inside, and some outside tables and chairs. The first time I went, I did not enjoy it but it turned out they made the latte wrong so the owner graciously gave me a free one and sure enough, it tasted amazing. The lavender latte is very floral and flavorful. To be honest, it still tasted a little too light for me but you can ask them to put more lavender syrup! And I wish they put more ice cus it all melted in just 3 minutes but you can always ask for more ice. I can tell they really care about the customer's satisfaction and it's really nice. Sooo glad I randomly found this place. I was ungodly sleep deprived and trying to revive myself before the first day of Outside Lands and this absolutely did the trick. The perfect pre-game meal. I got 'The Works' bagel and let me just say ... stunning (picture attached). Flawless ratio of meat to avocado to cheese, all nestled into a beautiful plain bagel. Not to mention the fresh OJ was perfectly tart and sweet. Would definitely go again, except, I do not live in the state. So probably won't be back for a very long time. The last time I came to Crostini & Java I didn't have the best experience because of the two smashed croissants I got, but I came back for a second try after the owner explained the situation. I came at the end of the day when the cafe was about to close up, so when I asked for croissants they offered the ones for the sandwhiches without explaining what I was getting. These are typically the ones that are smashed. (Which for the business and for the enviornment/food waste it is nice that they use the not so pretty croissants for a second purpose!) This time around I got a perfectly fluffy croissant and an Earl Grey Latte! The croissant was great this time and the Latte was not what I would typically order but I was happy with it. The tea was strong enough to taste and the milk was frothed just right :) It comes unsweetened and made fresh. They also have iced options. For those croissant lovers like me, go in the morning, not towards the end of the day! Service was quick and super friendly. read more

BEST COFFEE CAFE IN THE CITY! Today was my first time coming here and the service was so warm and friendly. The ambiance is amazing and it is very clean. This place was eh. Service was very impersonal and felt rushed. The kind where you feel like they barely even see you. I waited a very long time for avocado toast with eggs and when I got it, I was disappointed. It had zero flavor. It's meant to have garlic aioli sauce on it. Literally just dry toast with a thin layer of aioli. So think you can't really taste it. With eggs that might of even been the kind you microwave because it tasted completely flavorless. With a load of avocado on top. And I love avocado but no amount could make up for the fact that it was simply a mediocre dish with very little love put into it. Maybe other things on the menu are done well or better but I was disappointed in my order. read more

Their lettuce is shredded but fresh and crispy. The salt content is just enough to bring out the flavors. And the overall composition of their sandwiches are very well proportioned. You're not getting skimped, but you're also not biting into a mouthful of a packet of deli meat. They definitely know what they are doing. Service is good and ambiance is a small humble shop on the corner of 12th Ave.

At $14.50 it's a hearty sandwich at a fair price. I'd recommend it, but eat in.

I was surprised by the raspberry inside. (3) Gochujang Pimento Cheese Twist ($8) - this was OK. It was actually my second time getting it (wanted something vegetarian and savory). It was better this time and a pretty pastry but not super flavorful. We were able to get this pastry warmed up (they shared that they don't warm the ones with cream). (4) Chocolate Chip and Toffee Cookie ($8) - chewy, thicker cookie. Probably one of my favorites now. Total: $40.19 There was indoor seating within parachute bakery, but you can very well grab your pastries and go sit by the water. When I placed my order at the counter, I was served a fresh-from-the oven kouign amann - this rarely happens! I couldn't resist trying a piece as I left the bakery, and it was indeed exquisite. The black sesame kouign amann from B. Patisserie is my gold standard, and Juniper's version is a close contender. While the black sesame flavor is much lighter and the texture fluffier than the B. Patisserie version, I liked the abundance of the crispy edges (as well as the year-round availability). I will certainly be back to try more of Juniper's pastries.

The place is nice inside with some Latin or European, I guess, inspired feel. The music was an unusual mix of songs in Spanish, French, American blues, some Rolling Stones and Madonna. The exterior of the cafe looks dull but the employee said that a sign and an awning will be installed soon and will look sharp. What made me like this place is the fact that they bake their eggs for breakfast sandwiches in a real oven. An unusual method but so much healthier than the microwave that most small cafes use. Two thumbs up for that. I had an Ultimate Breakfast sandwich on a croissant and it was superb with some tasty, looks like homemade sauce. Coffee was excellente. I'm all for encouraging folks to talk to each other in third spaces, but with 2 people total in the cafe, you might want to reconsider whether turning off a basic service is helping anyone enjoy your atmosphere. Disappointed.

My favorite thing is to get it and then sit outside and enjoy a leisurely weekend morning. There is a lot of seating outside. The owner is so nice and very intentional about the items he has in the bakery. He also owns Alimento next store!

Mondays are especially a day to grab a pick me up to begin the week to reboot and restart. A place where you can have a pit stop and relax and refuel is the Fueling Station in Russian Hill( Not in the country of Russia) in San Francisco. Inside it feels you have stepped inside an Art gallery opening with up-and-coming artist artwork displayed against on the wall. Inside you see people working on their laptop , reading, scrolling on their phone, and some engaged in a what have you done and what are you doing yap session. You will also see people outside engaging in an outside yap session and people watching. To fuel up the Fueling station offers espresso , matcha, Chaga Matcha , and tea. They also sell bagels. I got the Matcha Latte. It was smoother than a lot of matcha I have had but it was not water downed at all and not too sweet . I can taste the matcha flavor in every sip and it gave me a boost. I enjoy a good matcha cold or warm. After a night of drinking some alcohol Matcha helps with hangovers. Matcha is the pick me up which is smooth and this one is not very"diluted"and gives you energy so you feel very "rebooted "this place feels so relaxing which is for me"well suited "and the vibes are so undeniable and so "undisputed " Once inside you go to order you will be "saluted" and you find coffee pots and pots with plants in the backyard that are already deeply "rooted" plus the artwork is also "included" and I can hear someone in the back having an online meeting where somebody is still "muted"

The sandwich was reallyyyy good. The chicken was nicely seasoned, the bread was crispy--overall amazing. I asked for the bathroom code and they gave me a key attached to a spoon which I thought was strange and also funny. Overall, great experience--would definitely visit again!

I was looking for a late breakfast, and this place seemed perfect. I got a slice of ham and burrata quiche, that came with a tasty side salad. I also got a pour over coffee and a bottle of water. The quiche, salad, and coffee was delicious. A perfect spot for what I needed.

They could probably have fit more tables and seats in there. There is a row of chairs by a counter along the window facing Columbus Avenue, so one could sip their coffee or eat their food while crowd-watching. I sat at the far end of a long table inside and drank my coffee, which was good enough but not strong enough in flavor. It did not give me the kick I needed from my afternoon cup of coffee. There were a few people working on their laptops and a few others drinking coffee and chatting. It seems to be a good place to either work or relax and read.
