Hands down the best breakfast spot! First off, tiny little place in the corner. They have bar seating inside facing the outside windows as well as some tables outside. We went for a quick breakfast stop and placed our order at the cashier. Everyone here was super nice. We sat down to wait, and it only took about 10 minutes for the sandwich to be ready. I also got a small cappuccino which was ready real quick. They have an area with cinnamon, chocolate powder, cream and sugar in case you want to add anything extra to your coffee. We got the ultimate breakfast sandwich and OMG it was sooooo good!!! At first, I was scared the english muffin was going to be dry, but no my dear. That was the best english muffin anything I've ever had. It had fresh eggs which were nicely seasoned, turkey, avocado, swiss cheese, spinach, and a red onion sauce which was insane. Every bite is a party in your mouth. Also ended with the pain au chocolat and it was perfection. Nice and flaky and the right amount of chocolate. Highly recommend stopping by this hidden gem! read more

This is a cute little coffee shop in front of UCSF. This place has limited indoor seating and outdoor seating. The baristas are friendly. Wow, what-a breakfast sandwich. My brother & sister-in-laws have been going here since they've been in SF and i see why. The french breakfast sandwich came in waves. The brioche bun, soft, gentle yet held all contains correctly. The gruyère cheese, bacon, & egg was a symphony of taste. Yet the crowning jewel was the pear. So crispy and had such sweetness that completed the contents of the sandwich. Bon appétit read more

Have you ever wanted the perfect breakfast sandwich? Look no further. This little location in the heart of San Francisco has it. We went here for a quick stop for coffee and sandwich. We ordered the The Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich which basically melts in your mouth with every bite. It's hard to explain. Your gonna have to try it and see for yourself. It's perfect in every way. Soft, buttery and full of flavor. Pastries are super good. We tried the pan au chocolate too and was yummy. Small place with tables outside but it's cute and has great food. Such a cute little hole in the wall cafe! The outdoor seating seriously reminds me of New York, and there's also a few seats inside if you want to sit in. The coffee is AMAZING. I got both a vanilla latte and a regular latte and they were super creamy, delicious, and a really good size. Coffee came out fast too, which I always appreciate. The sandwiches were easily some of the best I've ever had, and it was the perfect breakfast that kept me fueled the entire day. I ordered the fresh mozzarella and avocado sandwich with basil pesto, tomatoes, arugula, and balsamic on ciabatta. I added eggs for extra protein ($2.50 more) and WOW, so worth it. They absolutely load it up!! We did wait a little bit for the sandwiches, but everything was super fresh and made with care. I will absolutely be coming here all the time, and if you live in the area I highly recommend checking this place out! read more

Crostini & Java - Coffee & Tea Near Me - San Francisco, California

Crostini & Java. I am still glad that i got to stumble upon this cafe. The sandwiches are made with precision and care. Delicious! Their smoothies are amazing! The strawberry smoothie kept me coming back again and again. The owner and the ladies are quite friendly and happy folks. But mind you, this place gets real busy. They have very very limited sitting space including the outdoor sitting so it is on you. lol. Not too pricey at all. Whoever wandering around the city of San Francisco, please welcome! Morning coffee with a spoon of collagen? Early brunch with a smoothie? You get the idea. I am sure you won't be disappointed as much! read more

Super cute corner shop that is really small but offers a variety of items on their menu. They serve breakfast and lunch items all day!! Service: 5/5 Friendly, quick, and efficient service. You'd order at the front and the employees will call your name once your order is ready or come outside to give it to you if you're seated outside. Food: 4/5 French lavender latte - Creamy and strong but I personally lavender was a bit too overwhelming. Smoked salmon and eggs croissant - A little too oily to my liking and small amount of eggs inside, but it was so flavorful that I actually enjoyed it. read more

My brother, Lane and I stumbled upon Crostini & Java on our first day in San Francisco on the way to Swans Oyster Depot. We already got coffee that morning, but it was definitely something I wanted to come back and check out since the line was out the door. We came around 11am debating if we were just going to get coffee or also grab something to eat. Since we were short on time we decided to get two sandwiches and eat it there. I had the salmon cream cheese croissant with an iced peanut butter latte and Lane ordered the california crunch with salmon and a hot mocha. I loved the flavor of the peanut butter latte, but there were many sips where I had straight peanut butter. Wasn't a problem, but definitely a bit too much sometimes haha. Lane and I decided to split half half on his sandwiches. Both were humongeous I only ended up eating half of the one I ordered. Delicious and satisfied. Lane mentioned how good his sandwich was and was adding sriracha mayo to it. I had fomo just watching him eat it cause it looked so good. It is very tiny in there with limited seating, but very intimate and homey feeling. Would definitely return if I was ever in the area! read more

This is one of the cutest little cafes in Nob Hill. The menu offers a good amount of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, pastries, and of course beverages. I have never had a "traditional" french breakfast, so that's what I got. The sandwich was made to perfection! The bread had the right amount of softness and subtle sweetness, the egg was cooked well done (as I like it), the gruyere was melted to the best amount of gooeyness, and the pear and spinach added some needed texture, crunch and sweetness to top it all off. It was absolutely divine! I wanted to try a pastry as well, but I was trying to be good. They all looked delicious and mouth watering (I'll save those for my next visit there). The service was awesome - friendly, inviting, and honest. I had a lot of questions and the staff was able to answer them and give their recommendations as well. I truly appreciated the air of kindness throughout the staff. It really makes a difference with your experience, and they nail it here. Just keep in mind that this is a very small cafe, so space is limited. There is some indoor and outdoor seating, but it's on a first-come, first-serve basis. read more

I wanted to grab a quick coffee and breakfast sandwich and came across this one on Yelp. There is no parking. We had to circle the block before I decided to get out And order while he looked for parking. It's a small location. There's were people waiting outside while they waited for their orders. They have 2 tables with seating outside that were taken at the time and a bar sitting inside near an open window. I placed an order for a large caramel macchiato and a smoked salmon and cream cheese on an everything bagel. The coffee came out with in 5 minutes but the sandwich took about 10 minutes. The coffee was soft in taste. The bagel sandwich was ok. The salmon was primary in one area because I took a couple of bite with no salmon. It was a 3/5. read more

Crostini & Java has become my go-to spot whenever I need a quick pick-me-up during my lunch break. I always (and happily) get The Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich -- it's seriously SO good. I usually substitute the meat for chicken and swap the maple sauce for rosemary aioli, and it's perfect every single time. The staff is always so kind and welcoming, and the service is quick and efficient, which is perfect when I'm on a break. They also have a punch card program -- if you buy 9 coffee drinks or 9 lunch sandwiches, you get the 10th free, which is such a nice touch. Such a cozy little spot I'm really grateful to have nearby. Wow! Talk about a pretty solid sandwich AND coffee. Usually places only execute 1 out of the 2 but this place handled both very well. When there's a line out the door it's most likely for good reason. If you're in a hurry, I probably wouldn't stop here considering it did take some time but it's SO worth it. We got the ultimate breakfast sandwiches. Sandwiches held up well and you are able to customize meat selections and take out/add what you want. The sauce they use is very good and adds extra depth to the sandwich and knocks it out of the park. As for the coffee, we tried the iced americano and French lavender latte. Americano had a bold flavor and not sour like some can be. Lavender latte was very good and not too overwhelming. It had a good balance of lavender. The place is small inside but very clean. Service was good considering it was packed. I know some places can get overwhelming but they do a great job! Overall, I really recommend this place and look forward to trying other things on the menu! read more

Friday, 8:45am This place is hopping. Seems to be a steady mix of locals with tiny dogs & workers from the surrounding medical buildings. I ordered the Avocado Toast, which includes an egg, & added bacon. Be still my heart, the toast was actually toasted! Definitely can eat all their goods by hand as everything packed to go. Anyway, a great breakfast. If I'm going to be picky, the avocado was a day short of ripe, but creamy enough to spread. This is purely subjective, but I'm not a fan of whole wheat bread, the flavor fights the mild avocado taste. I'd prefer a neutral sourdough, but again, no points off there. Bacon was perfectly prepared, well cooked but still chewy. The staff were super friendly, noticed a lot of regulars, some chatting in Spanish with the cashier. Extra points there. I noticed one regular ordering coffee with a frequent customer punch card. If you're walking, know the hills are rather steep. I showed up at 8:45 & noticed 1 or 2 spots routinely opened up on Hyde. Metering starts at 9am. If you arrive via Bush the entire north side is no parking until 9am, so plan on 8:55am arrival & the street is yours. Parked & hungry I was a bit worried, it's a tiny, cute place with a small line. I didn't see any open spaces so I ordered to go. Turns out that wasn't necessary. Absolutely no laptop campers, Everyone ate their food & left. A table opened up before my meal arrived. Didn't take long for my order either. Definitely a pleasant experience all around. I'll be back for sure. Support Local! read more

Crostini & Java - Pear/egg sandwich - Coffee & Tea Near Me - San Francisco, California

I'm torn about what to say for this place, because the service was pretty rude but the sandwich I had there was bommmmb. It's a really small place, and it was super duper busy while I was there, so I can see why the staff was maybe a little on edge and low on patience, but that's still not an excuse to be condescending to your customers. One of the guys there -- presumably the manager or owner? -- seemed kind of annoyed at everyone the whole time, and was especially rude to one of my friends. Didn't love that. That being said, I ordered a peanut butter latte and an egg and cheese sandwich, and the sandwich was amazing (especially whatever aioli they used). I'd 100% get it again. The latte was pretty disappointing though and barely tasted like peanut butter; I think it's because all the peanut butter was just gathered at the bottom of the cup. TL;DR: meh service, meh drink, excellent breakfast sandwich. read more

Such a good cafe in Lower Nob, how have I not been back a second time?? There was a line when I got here on a late Saturday morning to meet up with a friend (~10-15 min) but it was worth it when I received my Salmon Cream cheese bagel on wheat and wowza it was tasty - really thick heaping of smoked salmon, cream cheese, greens, tomato, and added in avocado. I gobbled everything up quickly while chatting with my friend in the cozy indoor seating (there's barely any tables but we snagged one in the corner). There's also some small outdoor seating, though generally this place would be pretty cramped if you're here with more than one person. The servers are so friendly and I have to come back to try their lattes and other bagel flavors soon. I don't usually have many effusive reviews for bagel shops since I'm a picky Jersey girl who's been spoiled with bagels since childhood. This is a very good California bagel that doesn't claim to be anything else. I like it. read more

Crostini & Java is your classic local neighborhood cozy cafe! Came here twice this year and loved the sandwiches and drinks each time. The place is pretty small so seating is limited but enough for a small group of 2-3. Service is fast and the decor of the cafe is very small-shop cute. The first time we ordered the Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich, Roast Beef with Caramelized Onions Sandwich, and Strawberry Smoothie. The second time we ordered the French Breakfast Sandwich, Matcha Latte, and Iced Mocha. All of their sandwiches were really yummy and drinks were decent too. Crostini and Java has some delicious pastries but quite awful matcha. When I came I decided to get a slice of the chocolate chip banana bread loaf as well as an oat milk iced matcha latte. The choco chip banana bread slice was moist, buttery and delicious and the chocolate was just the right amount of melted. That being said, the matcha latte on the other hand was watery and flavorless - tasting like a cup of cold oat milk with a piece of grass wafted over it. It also had a bitter aftertaste. If you are looking to check out Crostini & Java definitely steer clear of the matcha and you should be good! read more

Got something from another spot in the Civic Center area for breakfast. It may be a small place but it's big on taste. Crostini & Java is a cozy little cafe. Has a counter with a few chairs and there's not much else of a dining area inside. The prices are pretty okay for around this area it seems. At breakfast it gets the busiest of course. It's one of the most convenient places to go to around here. This opens up pretty early compared to the stuff around it. Coffee is the main beverage. It's about $3 for a cup. Basic stuff but for the area it's pretty affordable. Food is typical breakfast stuff. There's a few that are better though. It's $5 to get the Bagel With Avocado. This was choice of bagel with slices of avocados and tomatoes. Basic but that doesn't mean it was bad. This tasted like it was all fresh. Has typical stuff to get at breakfast. It's only open through lunch. This however is open on the weekends. read more

Everyone else loves this spot, I just like it. But the avocado toast is just so disappointing, with practically nothing to distinguish it or make it special. Everything else here is amazing, so I'd have hoped they'd do something to make the toast as spectacular. Perhaps some added garnishes? Or even an edible flower. But a splash of vinaigrette on avocado and toast just isn't enough to impress. Go for the coffee, or the sandwiches. This isn't for a light snack. Also, it's so popular you will definitely have to wait. It's good but slow. Even for an average avocado toast. read more

We ordered an iced mocha, green berets smoothie, banana chocolate walnut bread, ultimate breakfast sandwich with ham, and croissant sandwich with egg, bacon, and cheese (minus the sauce). Everything was made to order, the taste of mocha strong in the coffee beverage, great banana flavor in the smoothie, the sandwiches with ample ingredients and delish, and the banana walnut bread full of chocolatey goodness in every bite. This sweet and crumbly slice of bread was served right away, from the display case. And the wait for the rest of our order was 20 minutes, which isn't bad for New Year's Day, at least they were open during the holiday. This chicken pesto sandwich was the best I've had in a very long time! My boyfriend tried their popular ultimate breakfast sandwich, it was also really good. We were trying to find a breakfast-y spot and we ran across Crostini and Java. The food itself was so good, I would definitely go back here if we're in the area. The matcha latte felt like there was more milk than matcha, but the strawberry smoothie we had tasted good. It didn't taste like we were drinking something powdered. It seemed like it was made with fresh fruit and not a mixture. Parking to get to this area is mainly street parking but for a Friday morning, we didn't struggle to find a spot really close to the shop. There isn't too much indoor seating, so if you're trying to find a place to sit and try your food, you might not get a spot inside if there's a lot of people. There are also seats outside too. Our food came out in a timely manner, it didn't feel like we waited 20 minutes for two sandwiches and drinks, but we also just beat the rush that came in so we got lucky! read more
