This piece of art is very cherry
Juan V.

After all the weekend Summer activities in San Francisco and all the concerts at Golden Gate Park and Stern Grove there is a need to refuel. Mondays are especially a day to grab a pick me up to begin the week to reboot and restart. A place where you can have a pit stop and relax and refuel is the Fueling Station in Russian Hill( Not in the country of Russia) in San Francisco. Inside it feels you have stepped inside an Art gallery opening with up-and-coming artist artwork displayed against on the wall. Inside you see people working on their laptop , reading, scrolling on their phone, and some engaged in a what have you done and what are you doing yap session. You will also see people outside engaging in an outside yap session and people watching. To fuel up the Fueling station offers espresso , matcha, Chaga Matcha , and tea. They also sell bagels. I got the Matcha Latte. It was smoother than a lot of matcha I have had but it was not water downed at all and not too sweet . I can taste the matcha flavor in every sip and it gave me a boost. I enjoy a good matcha cold or warm. After a night of drinking some alcohol Matcha helps with hangovers. Matcha is the pick me up which is smooth and this one is not very"diluted"and gives you energy so you feel very "rebooted "this place feels so relaxing which is for me"well suited "and the vibes are so undeniable and so "undisputed " Once inside you go to order you will be "saluted" and you find coffee pots and pots with plants in the backyard that are already deeply "rooted" plus the artwork is also "included" and I can hear someone in the back having an online meeting where somebody is still "muted"

Everything bagel with egg whites, turkey, cheddar, & sriracha aioli

I'm so sad that Fueling Station has officially changed owners! That being said, I ordered some of my usuals today (an everything bagel with egg whites, turkey, cheddar, & sriracha aioli and a soy matcha latte)... and I can confirm the taste and quality are exactly the same. Service was a bit slower than usual as the new team is getting up to speed, but they were very nice/apologetic. I'm sure they'll hit the ground running in no time.

Banana and nuts toast

My husband and I were in the area and wanted to stop for a quick snack. The Fueling Station popped up on Yelp and so we made the walk over. The menu isn't super extensive which was great for those of us who want to narrow down their options quickly. I opted for their banana and nutella toast and it was good. They had plentiful of outdoor seating available which made this a great pitstop for us.

Cute spot Chaga Matcha. Mushroom and matcha Really tasty, earthy, for large No fancy top designs on foam 8-( Bagel and PB Toasted with crunchy peanut butter. Just enough for a decent bagel. No vegan pastries left Reasonable vegan options, maybe try in future trips

English Breakfast & steamed milk

Saturday, 9:15 am I found Fueling Station on my quest for the perfect San Francisco Avocado Toast. Good choice. I love how you can choose between The Works, Veggie, or All Aboard. Of course I chose the All Aboard combining avocado, bacon, poached egg, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes & onions. The egg was perfectly prepared, tomatoes not those refrigerated beef steak abominations. Everything tasted fresh, the raw onions added a little zing, cucumbers brought a satisfying crunch. Here's where I get crabby. I specifically asked for the toast to be toasted. They need to adjust the settings on their toaster, lowest setting barely grazed the surface. That made the bread easy to cut (yay), but difficult to eat with hands. I know, personal preference, but here's the deal. I always request toasted & 90% of the time cafes seem to have the same faulty toaster. The whole wheat (?) bread was not my favorite. I'd prefer a neutral sourdough or whatever slice. My English Breakfast tea with steamed milk hit the spot, giant tea bag took up 1/3 the cup. By 10am there was a line out the door, except for me everyone seemed to be locals, chatting with the friendly staff. Line moved well as four staff behind the counter. Bring your dogs, park the baby carriage. Interior space has plenty of eclectic furniture. Back room includes a love seat & additional seating. That's where you'll find the laptop campers & their empty coffee cups. Glad they're hidden away. There's also a couple communal tables, high table with rattan chairs, Three more tables inside the door, four outdoor cafe tables. I forgot to check in before paying & get 10% off the bill. No matter, I'll definitely be back.

Tried this cafe because it's nearby our hotel in SF. The food was good but the portion was quite small and for the price, I think it's quite pricey. The seatings inside were nice. Their restroom was a bit clogged. There was water all over the floor and I hope they fix it soon because it's pretty serious. One of the servers was very nice. He gave us a lot of butter when requested.

Avocado toast with bacon

I was looking for a quick breakfast on Polk on a weekday. There were rave reviews about this avocado toast with bacon and an egg. People were commenting on the bread, which I thought was underwhelming. The egg was cooked to perfection though and there was plenty of avocado. Bathrooms were clean. Staff was a little curt.

Chicken Banh mi
Gabe Y.

I'd say this is Banh mi inspired but not a banh mi. Their meat had some similar flavors but I wouldn't say that this is what it should taste like. Flavor was a bit too sweet on the pickled veg. Their cucumber was really juicy? It was a weird mix. At their price, I wouldn't go again. Maybe try to look for a place with more value. What I liked about this place is that it seemed like a fantastic place to work and study. It had ample space and outlets for one to spread out your work stuff. Gentle music too.

Flat white

I come to the fueling station because it is a relaxed and friendly. There is a long table at the back that I like to parking myself at for a bit to sip a flat white and do some writing. The overall feel is relaxed. I also like the Loraine quiche that they make daily.

Bacon, egg, and cheddar cheese bagel sandwich

On the most quiet part of Polk Street you will find this quiet and cozy coffee and breakfast shop. They have a couple tables outside and more inside. The service was was and everyone was super friendly. The food itself was ok. It wasn't the best breakfast sandwich I have had in the city, or even in the area; but I'm not going to kick it out of bed. There are a variety of sandwiches, pastries and coffee to choose from.

Chaga Matcha
Stephanie P.

Simple, Cozy, and Friendly. That's just the short way of describing this cafe. This is the best cafe on Polk Street. Yeah yeah...there are other 'bougie' ones up the block such as Saint Frank (Very Mid) cafe réveille (Extremely Mid) etc... But this place gets it right. The food is simple and delicious; the drinks are well made and it's not overpriced. My go to are usually the Chaga Matcha or the Banh Mi (OMG you have to try the Banh Mi!!!). They have a variety of food and drink Menu. Sometimes, they would have seasonal items like the Pumpkin Bread Pudding which was 10/10. I never had anything like it, it wasn't too sweet, it's dense, moist, and guaranteed to put you on a food coma just so you can dream about that delicious thick bread pudding. This is a great place to do some work. It's quiet, there is WiFi, and it's spacious. The vibe is usually nice here (Unlike the other ones up the block that has too much beep boop energy if ya know what I mean). Of course, this place has courteous staff. They really focus on the quality of their craft and take care of the place. It's like you're dining/drinking at someone's small cozy home kitchen. There's nothing else I can really say about this place. All I know is that I come here almost everyday now. It's a lovely cafe and I'm glad I ran into this place. :)

Strong but smooth, not bitter. You can tell they're using good quality powder. Service was fast and pretty easygoing. No wait when I went. If you're picky about matcha, this place does it right. The color, magnificent honestly, the dango is good to try for the first time, but I wouldn't get again. As for the lattes, the mango one is pretty good, super mangoey and sweet, so just remember to stir it pretty well before sipping. Strawberry was pretty good, also pretty sweet. The earl grey was my fave, easy to control the sugar level and very fragrant. The earl grey and matcha does not over power each other which I really liked. The soft serve, is suuuper good. It's like a thick matcha icecream, and it's sweet but not too sweet. I would visit this place again if I'm in SF! Service is a bit slow but that's understandable because they're always busy.

Given the escalating political tensions between China and Japan, perhaps the owners felt a cup of soft serve sprinkled with matcha could serve as a wreath of peace between the two nations. Or maybe it's a slam dunk to know Asians can't live without their soft serve. I just know from similar ice cream shops in Chinatown that this represents a fresher suite of flavors than most. On my first visit here, I went for the $6.90 Boba Sundae, a matcha-vanilla twist with kuromitsu boba drizzled with a matching syrup (Photo 6). I liked it because it possessed the uniquely Maiko combo of sweet flavors. I went more generic on a follow-up visit and ordered the standard $6.40 Matcha Vanilla Soft Serve (Photo 5). Not as tantalizing but it did the job. Someday I'll get ambitious and order the latte float or cheese foam, but I'll see how peace negotiations go before committing. FOOD. SERVICE. AMBIANCE: It's been about 8 months since I…read moreboycotted JOE & THE JUICE because of awful business practices I go into in previous reviews. Today I thought I'd give J&J another chance. 8 months to read citicisms and get its act together. SERVICE: JOE & THE JUICE gained a bad reputation in the Bay Area pre-covid for flagrantly disregarding city law that prohibits retail businesses from going strictly cashless. For good reason: Refusing paper and coin currency is defacto segregation against Black and Brown folks and the working poor and those on a fixed income who are more likely to be restricted to cash transactions. This is an unjust policy, refusing to take "certain people's " money and in my book equals BAD SERVICE. FOOD & BEVERAGES: Upon my return to the large JOE & THE JUICE location in San Francisco's Financial District - which I used to frequent most days of the week for years before the boycott - I ordered my signature drink, Americano + extra shot of espresso with milk. Now although J&J is wildly overpriced compared to other espresso bars and snack joints, the Danish (J&J is a Denmark import and not locally owned, so maybe they don't understand how we do here in the USA) ownership refuses to provide the paying customer options between 1/2&1/2, Whole Milk, 4% Milk, etc. It carries only 2% milk which is just above lightly flavored water. I always have 1/2&1/2 with my cofffee but not at J&J, despite the high prices customers pay. I used to stock this location myself with 1/2&1/2 out of my own pocket from the Walgreens across the street, which a customer shouldn't have to do. BEVERAGES: Well my Americano, honestly, was awful. Tasted like dirty dish water. Old stale coffee bean flavor only slightly diluted luke warm water. BAD PRODUCT. SERVICE: It appears JOE & THE JUICE ownership and management are back to their old tricks again refusing cash payment. I told the manager it's city law thay accept cash payment - payment equality - and he conceded he knew this is the law. I was given the excuse the cash register just happened to be broken and they were waiting repairs, but trust me as one who knows J&J very well this is just BS: they're told to tell customers or city inspectors this and cynically keep going on with their segregationist policy. BAD. BAD. BAD SERIVICE!
