I can't say enough good things about Crescent Movers. We had some bad experiences with movers in Chicago but Crescent Movers changed all of that. My first call into the office I dealt with Christian. He was knowledgeable, professional, friendly and organized. I spoke with him several times during the process and he answered all of my questions and ensured the move went smoothly. He called the day before the move to confirm and the day of the move to be sure everything was going ok. We had 4 movers that showed up on time with a large enough truck, the correct number of wardrobe boxes and all of the necessary equipment/supplies. They worked efficiently and tirelessly (unlike other movers that chatted amongst themselves or were on their phones frequently which extended the move and increased our expense). Crescent Movers finished the job an hour less than quoted saving me money and they did an excellent job. This was a local move in Chicago with stairs at both locations. This was one of the WORST experiences I've ever had with a business. Not only did a 3 hour move turn into a 6 hour move but I was originally quoted $270 and that turned into $470 by the end of the move, something I totally did not expect. One of the movers was annoyed at the beginning of the move complaining to the other mover. He lied to management saying my 'inventory' was a lot more than what I originally stated (it was not). The manager told the movers to take not one but TWO of my televisions 'as collateral' because I was not prepared to pay for 6 hours of moving time. With my television on one of the mover's shoulders he reached out to shake my hand at the end of the move. Really? This must be a joke... or a really bad nightmare. He was a complete jerk. My attorney told me that moving companies taking customers' televisions as collateral is illegal. Nice people, right? Also, the assembly of one of the bed's took a lot longer than it should have. This was a total nightmare and really bad business as well as customer service. The management treats customers like crap comparing their services to transactions with a pawn shop. I seriously have never had an experience like this one and I will never go with this moving company again. I highly recommend you don't either. Oh and I did get my TVs back yesterday and this 'business' is completely shady both in their interactions with customers and the appearances of their office. Moving can be one of the most stressful things to ever do. These guys made our move as easy as pie! We needed our things held overnight and then dropped off the next afternoon after our closing. They told us the day they picked up our things that if we got our keys early to give them a call and they'll come a little earlier. We called them and within 45 minutes they were here hauling things in. They all worked very hard and were very respectful. Two thumbs up for Crescent Movers. The office staff were very helpful in determining my estimate and giving me moving advice. Our move took place on one of the coldest days in January. The moving crew did a yeoman job getting our stuff from a third floor. Luckily, they only had to move it to a first floor. Ray, Chris, Mario, and Humberto were professional yet funny. Moved 6/30/16. They quoted me three hours with three guys. I agreed that they could come early so ended up getting a team of four. It took six hours but the guys worked their butts off. We just have way too much stuff that we didn't account for in the estimate. The entire team were very nice and explained stuff as they went. Other than the sticker shock (more guys and more time), I'm very happy with their work and would recommend them to others. read more

The reviews I read were good and they claim to give a senior discount. I can only surmize that he didn't want my business and so be it. This is not reliability. I've moved many times, always hiring a company to transport (load/unload) my items, and these guys are some of the best I've used! Very professional, polite, efficient, and extremely hard working! Were happy to help me put my furniture back together and ensured I was completely good-to-go before departing. There were three men (Tony and his crew) who helped me move into my one-bedroom apartment in the Southloop. I got estimates from 2 reputable companies and then, on the advice of a co-worker, called Crescent Movers in Skokie. I'm glad I did. Their quote was half of the first two. Furthermore, Crescent said of course the move would be done in a single day in a 16' truck (to a one bedroom apart-ment in a city 2 hours away) unlike the first two companies that told me I needed a 26' truck and that it would need to be kept overnight to complete the move out-of-state since loading up would take at least 3 hours. Walter and Eduardo arrived on time and were extremely pleasant to work with. Walter kept asking for other items to toss into the speed pack so that I'd have less to take in my car. From start to finish the whole move took about 5 hours. It was interesting that Crescent didn't send out someone to assess the size of the job, but rather "quesstimated" it over the phone. On the other hand, how much stuff can a 1 bedroom apartment hold? I also got the use of 3 wardrobe boxes for essentially free, which helped the packing process considerably. Be sure that you are perfectly clear on all the charges--e.g. 3% surcharge for using a credit card--and the cost of the tape and plastic for protecting furniture. Even then you will come out ahead with Crescent. read more

This was the second time we have hired these movers...given we had such a great experience and service the 1st time around but sadly this was not the same experience this 2nd time. We hired 3 movers(Big Luis, Big John) and one other I can't recall his name. It was a very lengthy process so l had beverages on hand for the workers and even thought to tip them each at the end of the job $15 each for the hard labor but as I finish putting everything away today...I have several small items broken, something that DID NOT occur before and sadly I was unaware of until I finished the process of unpacking. During the move, I did notice they were struggling to carry in the items to my new home but I didnt think I'd end up with several items that are now discarded and needed to be replaced. I will no longer use their services in the future or recommend them to my colleagues at Northwestern University! read more

This guys are just the best! This is the second time I have used them, and I will probably never go to anyone else. They have great customer service, are on time and get the job done well and efficiently. For this move, I had the A Team of Ronnie and Paul. They were awesome! I moved from a 3rd floor walk up to a 17th floor high rise. They did not mess around. They moved my two maple dressers and my brick of a maple night stand with total ease. Moving from Boystown to South Loop, they did it right on 3 hours. It was truly awesome! Not having a car, I rode with them and they were nothing but nice and talkative to me. I can't say enough great things about these guys. I have only moved myself with them, so I can't speak for moving multiple rooms or people, but they are very pocket friendly and do a great job. Crescent bailed me out BIG TIME when my original moving company (Peterson Moving) screwed me over by not showing up. Stay clear of them!!! They are as unprofessional as it gets!! The condo I was moving out of has a strict policy of moving ONLY during the reserved hours. My hours were between 2-4 on a Friday and they do not allow moves on weekends. So when Peterson Moving didn't show up, I was totally screwed. I call the condo management and they were able to extend my window of time to 5:30 We call Crescent at 4:00 and they were able to get a last minute crew together. They show up at 4:40 and moved all my stuff out by 5:30!!!! Simply Amazing!! Mad props to Carlos' crew. They are awesome! Ask specifically for them when you call Crescent. Walter, the crew lead, and his team of three others (list names) did a tremendous job with our move from a 2 Bed/2 Bath condo (plus large storage unit) to a 3-story single-family. They called ahead, showed up on time, were courteous to a person and very easy to work with. They could not have gone out of their way more to get things right for us and were just happy and personable throughout the move. The move took approximately 10h and their quote was very reasonable in light of the other quotes we got from big names in the industry - our final cost was very close to the original estimate done over the phone, despite having taken extra time to go to our storage unit and getting each piece to the room we wanted and disassembled-wrapped-reassembled all furniture. The crew worked hard, every one of them for the entire time. The longest break we experienced any of them taking was 10 minutes (and that might be more than they took) to eat a couple of slices of pizza we ordered in for them halfway through. They would have stayed longer if needed to get the job done - were not going to leave something undone due to a time estimate that was a little off. They were careful with the driving and moving of key objects. We did have other help come in a week prior to pack much of our belongings in boxes ahead of the move, but there were a fair amount of things to wrap/pad (grill, beds, other furniture). They didn't overdo anything just to sell an extra box or roll of tape, but rather asked us if there was a judgment call as to whether to use additional materials or completely fill a box with mixed types of belongings. We would very highly recommend not only Crescent (courteous, prompt, helpful and accurate in the estimating and scheduling) but very specifically, Walter and his crew. read more

Horrible experience!! They were able to accommodate me on a last minute mover, but damaged several pieces of furniture that I thought they just didn't unwrap. Turns out they knew, and figured Id have to figure it out later. Broke a safe, damaged a desk, a hutch, and scratched several pieces of furniture on a very local move. The only damage that I knew about immediately was my safe. When I brought it up to the guy in charge, he became deaf. Just totally ignored me. This was at the end of the move, as they were all complaining about their job, and having to start work at 7AM (Its about 5:30 now). Even though my safe is broken, and furniture still unwrapped (because they knew it was damaged, but I didnt), I still hand the guys a $40 tip for 4.5 hours of work, and the reply was......"We worked harder than that, we all deserve at least $20 each" in a very stern, bullying type tone. I'm actually speechless, trying to process the fact that he just complained about a cash tip. I actually did give him $40 more to de-escalate the situation, but also by having them move a few extra things around. This behavior was completely unprofessional, and borderline harassing. Who gets that mad when someone hands you extra $$? The next day I call, and tell the owner the complete story. HE says all the right things, and promises to make it right. I will get a call back in an hour to discuss, maybe look at the damage, and make it right. That was 5/25/16. Its now 6/2/16, and no reply. Unprofessional from the top to the bottom. I chose this company based on reviews, and I couldnt be more disappointed. read more

I'm writing this on behalf of my mentally ill brother. I'd like to give them a good review, but I tried to work with them, and they made promises they didn't keep. They did move him, but the other things that happened are what upset me. My Mom and I moved most of his things before moving day...mind you, he only had a studio, but we wanted to make his move as quick and easy as possible. Only the larger items were left. He was literally left with a box, and 8 or 9 other items. The one man who moved him said his move was hard, which surprised me. My brother didn't agree, but said nothing. He also knew that my brother was mentally ill, so you would have expected him to be nicer, and not take advantage, but that wasn't the case. They receive recommendations from this program that helps my brother with day to day activities, so you would assume they wouldn't take advantage of the less fortunate. He had to wrap a couple of items in bubble wrap, and said this usually costs more. My brother wasn't aware of this, and the man said people usually tip them $40 each, and when my brother reached for his wallet, he said no, we'll do that later. Then, after the move he said they could finish up their previous conversation, and my brother got flustered, reached into his wallet and said he'd give him $40, because that was all he had. The man said that would do, took it, and left. My mother had given my brother $10 to tip the movers, so the rest was his. My brother had them contracted three hours, and my brother said the move took 1 hour and 40 minutes. There was also a 10 minute elevator wait, so that's 1 hour and 50 minutes. My brother later talked to my mother, who then let me know, and I was furious! I called the company multiple times, and was treated nicely, but I told them I wanted the man to give my brother his $40 tip back, which is a lot to him, and they said they would send it. Well, that was over 5 weeks ago! I've called multiple times, and talked to two managers to no avail. I even said that I'd write this review, which they didn't want me to do, but they're not doing anything! As a small business owner myself, you have to take care of this! Oh, and after this mover was reprimanded, he called my brother immediately and scolded him for getting him in trouble. This made me upset and nervous as my brother has slow reflexes and is an easy target. I told the management, and they said it wouldn't happen again, and it hasn't, and I'm happy about that. I told them my brother had nothing to do with this, and if the man had issue, he could come directly to me. My brother didn't ask me to do this, but as his older sister and co- guardian, I felt I needed to protect him. He is a gentle soul. I hope they change their management... all I want is my brother's tip back! Ugggg! read more

We hired them on the 1st we moved on the 15th. I told them on the phone that i had to meet the cable guy at 4 and pick my son up at 5 from his day care. They told me that the have a open window from 2pm till 4 to show up and once they get there i can leave. Then they inform me they will be there closer to 2 pm so i shouldn't worry. Well that was all a lie. They didn't show up till 4:45 pm they did give me an extra guy that i didn't ask for but i had to pay. Then i missed the cable guy then i had to have my wife leave work to get my son. I called to complain the lady on the phone was a total B! and then they was like i will just call them and have them come back and you can find other movers! My wife calls same BS i hope and pray they go out of business! read more

Crescent Movers was recommended to us by our realtor for our move to our new place. We were very weary as we'd had a terrible experience with a different moving company previously. Making the appt was easy and they were flexible with us when we had to change the moving date a week before the move to do delays related to the pandemic. We had three movers and they came in masks, were respectful of our belongings and were very efficient. It rained the ENTIRE day, so they took extra time wrapping our furniture to protect it. The guys worked non stop and were focused. They were upbeat and positive and friendly. We did have a couple dings on some items, but I consider that to be almost inevitable during a move. The items damaged were cheaper IKEA grade things that aren't really made to be moved repeatedly. In addition, the couple things that were more noticeable the guys actually pointed out to me and apologized for - I've never had movers actually own any damage. The move took a LOT longer than we anticipated due to pandemic precautions and the weather. I'd use them again for our next move and would recommend them to any friends/family in need or honest, reasonably priced and most importantly hardworking movers! read more

They moved me last year. It took less than the three hours required, so when they got there, they actually helped me rearrange furniture a couple of times. These guys work fast and hard. They do everything they can to protect your stuff. They are hard workers. Never complained very courteous. They never stopped moving from the moment they walked in. They give a nice professional quote through email which was a huge plus and I received it 24 hours after i asked for it. They are pros. They are bonded and insured and very good movers. The biggest plus about them is the price it is almost half of what other places charge. You cant really find better movers in the area for that price. This is in addition to the review I posted in 2010. A little over a week ago, I moved again, this time from a northern 'burb all the way out to a northwestern 'burb. I hired these movers again, because they did such a great job last time. Well, again, they did not disappoint. I had the same person, Ray, heading the 3 man moving crew again. The other 2 movers, Ricardo and Fernando were wonderful also. This was a little more involved move, since I had 2 destinations for my belongings. I had them drop off some furniture at another person's house before finishing at the final destination. They made sure everything was loaded onto the truck in the order in which it was being delivered. Everything ended up where it should. Very professional. If I ever move again, I will use them. They service the whole Chicago area as far as I know. read more

Right from the start this was the best decision I ever made. I went on Yelp to find Movers and made note of the first five listed and went to their website I put in the information to get a quote and within two hours I got a call from Crescant Movers. They are the only company that ever called me back and followed up. The young man who called me back was named Christian. He was a joy to work with very kind very understanding very patient and let me know that he was available whenever I had any questions. His enthusiasm and kindness is what made me decide to go with Crescent Movers. On the day of the move the crew showed up and they were fabulous. I had a lot of stuff to move and they worked very diligently and professionally and when we got to my new home their professionalism continued.
