Wow, the 3 spice star level was hot! Hot in a good way, but I was on the verge of breaking out into a sweat the entire time. Obviously, the meal is a messy ordeal, but with the gloves and the bib, you'll leave as clean as you came in. My favorite part of the combo boil was the mussels- they were plump, juicy, and super flavorful (the seasoning was so good! garlicky and the right amount of salty). Next time, rather than the combo, I'll opt for more mussels with shrimp and crawfish, and skip the clams. We got a side of waffle fries, and I'm so glad we did. I love seafood! Visiting Seattle, I knew I couldn't leave without trying some. Coming from San Jose, California I frequent a lot of Viet Cajun seafood spots similar to Crawfish King. I chose this restaurant given the variety on the menu and the generally good reviews in looking for a spot that could fit 8+ people. We had made a wait list reservation on Yelp but upon arrival at the time our table was set to be ready, we still had to wait an additional 30-40 minutes. Crawfish King has a lot of options you can add to your bag of seafood, but it honestly might be TOO many options. It can get overwhelming to sit and choose. I don't recommend the fish balls with roe with their sauces. The sauce was honestly just okay. The flavor is a bit lacking and feels watered down in texture. I prefer a thicker sauce. I liked the freshness of the oysters, which is what Seattle is generally known for. The cocktails are so good! I highly recommend all of them. Shout out to the bartender and the staff. This is now my go to place for seafood boils! I've been to Crab Pot before that also does boils, but theirs is way less flavorful than what you get at Crawfish King. I had been eyeing this place for a while, but when I heard they were doing October daily specials for seafood month I was sold. The day I went they did 1lb of free lobster tails per person as long as you checked in on fb and mentioned the deal in the restaurant. Check their Instagram for their deal of the day! We ended up ordering the 5lb boil (~$80) with 2 star big easy sauce and oh man was it tasty! The sauce fully coated all the food in the boil and everything tasted like it was cooked perfectly. We also each got a free lb of lobster tails which ended up being 3 tails each! To finish off the meal we both got macaron ice cream (~$5.50 each) and I was impressed that the macaron part wasn't dried out or hard from being in the freezer. We just ate here a couple days ago for my husbands birthday. I am not big on seafood but he is. I remember when I first heard of this place he wanted to eat there and for some reason we didn't. I think it was closed. I reserved a table for us and it was ready early. Parking was not the best. We ended up parking further away from the restaurant just to pay and be done with it. They have a huge menu with many ways to customize your meals. My husband got a huge boil with most of the options. I wanted to try their popcorn shrimp so I got an order as well as their popcorn chicken and potato wedges. I also got a crawfish queen drink. My drink was on point. The popcorn shrimp was alright. I'm not big on seafood so I like to try things still. I didn't like the texture of the shrimp. Maybe a little more breading would've made it tolerable. My popcorn chicken was ok. Their pieces are all about the same size as a mini Cheeto puff. It was good but it's not the type of chicken strip I like. To me it tasted like McDonald's nuggets, the meat consistency. Very happy this restaurant is open during COVID. My partner and I had several pounds of shrimp, crawfish, and crab legs and let me tell you, DELICIOUS! Had them in a spicy sauce medium heat which was perfect. The medium sauce is already quite spicy (and I enjoy spicy food) so this was just right. The Mac and cheese is to die for. Our party of three, we started off with two pounds of crawfish ($8.99/lb) with The Big Easy seasoning and Lil Crazy spice. (They also offer Rajun Cajun, which is their original seasoning and includes cajun seasoning and butter. The Big Easy has cajun seasoning, garlic butter, and lemon pepper in it.) With every two pounds, you get two pieces of sausage, two pieces of potato, and one piece of corn. As we waited for our order, we checked out the additional sauces already on the table - creamy butter-like sauce, ketchup, mayo, hot sauce, and salt and pepper. They also give you a container of red pepper chili seasoning with some limes. We dug right in when our order arrived. Lorna D. wasn't handling the Lil Crazy spice very well, unfortunately. And we soon learned that the sausage wasn't tasty at all. Bummer. Nonetheless, we ordered an additional four more pounds, but this time with no spice and just the regular cajun seasoning. Service could definitely use some improvement. Our waitress (along with all the other employees) mostly hung out by the register and didn't come around to check on us or anyone else until the very end. We had to flag them down for refills on beverages and more crawfish, and anyone with grubby hands know how annoying that can be. Crawfish King does not and doesn't have many options if your kiddo doesn't like fish or seafood. However, they do make a crab mac and cheese to order, which my little guy gobbled up, while they brought another bowl that contained all the crab. What it boils down to (haha, I'm hilarious) is location, in my opinion. They both have fresh seafood (the mussels at CK are HUGE and so delicious) and fresh/frozen based on the season. I was pleasantly surprised by this place! I was a little skeptical because it's a random Cajun/crawfish in the ID? Who would've thought? The restaurant itself felt like it should've been located on the pier or waterfront, or something because it reminded me of the Crab Pot. I really had no idea what to expect and how to order because I'm not familiar with this type of cuisine, but we ended up ordering three pounds of crawfish, a bowl of gumbo over rice and a side of boudin balls. I still have no idea what those boudin balls were made of but I felt like they were a little bland? My bf loved it though. I thoroughly enjoyed the 'Big Easy' sauce - I LOVE GARLIC!!! And the sauce was definitely finger-lickin' goodness. I'm not a fan of spice so we went with the 'lil crazy.' We also thought that the restaurant would be a great place to celebrate a birthday dinner - really great for groups because you can just order a couple of pounds of seafood and call it good. No need to worry about ordering multiple dishes - it's a fairly straightforward menu. Overall, I had a great meal but it was not cheap. TLDR: Menu is pretty straight forward. Come prepared to get messy. Get the catfish. Beachy/docky decor with music playing in the background. Temperature on the warm side (first warm day of summer)--a/c wasn't turned on. Most the noise comes from the sound system--not so much echoey talking. FYI: You can choose crispy (frozen and fried) or fresh cut fries. They line the table with butcher paper when you eat to minimize the mess from you devouring the innards of the crustaceans and discarding their exoskeleton remains. Gloves and bib are provided but you will get sauced. Catfish: SO GOOD. The breading isn't your typical cheap stuff. This is quality seasoned crispy crunch breading. Get it and savor that flavor. Macaroni salad: typical deli style macaroni salad. Nothing remarkable. Just a side if you want it. Cajun fries: if you can't handle the spice these fries aren't nice. We ordered crab bucket and a digger's packet for a table of eight Including for make teenagers and it feed us quite nicely. This is really a unique preparation that reminded me as a cross between traditional crawfish boil preparation and the garlic crabs of Hong Kong. Not a great tasting crawfish place-- at least compared to what I've experience, but I'm not from Seattle and might be used to better food and quality. The system itself is fine. I love the amount of utensils that they give you, the warm wipes afterwards, and the care separation in order to follow COVID procedures. They charge you a 20% tip/gratitude beforehand. They tell you this at the door. Probably factors into the BAD SERVICE that we received from on the girl working there. Definitely, didn't like her attitude and her treatment. She wasn't reliable or responsible. We asked her for salt, pepper, lemons, and ketchup and never got any. We had to ask a different waitress to get it for us. We asked 3 times and still never received the ketchup... awesome work ugh. At least do your job properly. If she was new, that's understandable that she makes mistakes, but her ATTITUDE was really annoying. She didn't have to act the way she did at our requests and she was pretty obvious about it. Her annoyance was clear. We did nothing to her! Just general questions about the menu and asking for some few extra things. The seafood wasn't show stopping. Some of it tastes fresh- which is good. Others, unfortunately, were rotten(?). Some mussels were so sticky and bad that they had to be spatted out because they were inedible. Others had sand and grain inside them - signs of being poorly cleaned. However, a number of them were fresh and of good quality. They have a good supplier. The sauce isn't that awesome, but then again I wasn't too impressed with Seattle food so perhaps it's just because I have a high standard (hence the 2-stars. I'd this was back in my local area, it would be a dead 1-star no question). It wasn't flavorful. It tasted a bit bland. The sauce didn't seep and soak into the food so it didn't really add much to the seafood itself. I recommend that the chef experiments with this a bit to get more flavor into the seafood itself rather than having them taste so separate. I had my first CYM (casual yelper meetup) here and it was great. When I thought I'd be the last one to arrive, to my surprise I was the first one! I told the gal who noticed me I'm waiting for a group of 5 and she kindly directed me to the big table in front of the bar(?). Yaaaaas. This place gives me life! I don't eat seafood often, but when I do, I crave snow crab! This place is so much better than I had predicted! I only have one other cajun style restaurant to compare it to, which is the boiling crawfish in kent. Man, this one is better in literally every way. The crab was fresher and tasted sweet. The legs were much larger in size than the other restaurant I went to and the big east sauce was really tasty - and spicy! I overheard our waitress tell another table the big east sauce had garlic blended into the sauce as opposed to actually chunks of minced garlic , so be aware of that. I did feel the sauce was a bit thick, almost like a paste so to make it more runny I asked them for some clarified butter and added that to my bag of snow crab...and it was perfect! I loved the decor with the fishing nets adorning the walls and lots of christmas decorations. I also really liked how no matter where you were seated, you had a TV in your view. I could totally see myself coming to enjoy some crab while watching a game! This is off on a seperate tangent, but the other crawfish house I had been to in kent gave us gloves but for some reason the sauce always found it's way into the gloves. Not here, my friends. I was pleasantly surprised that My hands were dry and sauce free after my feast! They have an extensive menu with shrimp po boys, gumbo, estouffe, and other nola specialties. Corn was so good. Very juicy and warm and the sauce was so so good. Would teccomend. Also garlic noodle was great.
