Amazing food and I love how kind the owner is. He always makes a point to greet customers and make them feel special. The food is amazing and they have this hot honey that I'm obsessed with. Every time I run out, I got to grab some more. Definitely a gym in the central district.

I came right at opening time. I parked in the retail parking area of the garage and had no issues. It's easy to find and the distance between the garage and the restaurant is extremely walkable. Restaurant is open with ample seating. It has a casual ambiance and is in the middle of the central district. Just the smell alone is enough to have your mouth watering. I was helped right away and the service was awesome. My food was fresh, flavorful and hit all the spots I didn't know I had. When I tell you that Mac and cheese was so cheesy, I mean every bit of it. This is not some boxed stuff or a brick of Mac n cheese. This is somebody aunty Mac and cheese with jerk seasoning. The portion sizes make sense for the price and the quality of the food is so high, you almost feel guilty for not paying more. I highly suggest you run, don't walk to the Jerk Shack Kitchen. That man in there know what he doing. P.S. He's fyyyyne yall! Nothing like a meal and a show.

Casual counter-order restaurant with a small menu of a dozen or so meal & sides. I've only been here 1x so far and I had the $15 Jerk Chicken Burrito. This thing was BIG! A large grilled burrito with juicy chicken (seasoned but not spicy hot), a garlic tuum-like sauce, rice+red beans, and a coleslaw mix for crunch. The burrito also came with hot sauce on the side which added a nice kick similar to a cholula hot sauce. I'll be back to try some of their platters.

I'm a fan of this restaurant. It's in a great location and has excellent food that is bursting with flavor. I love that the kitchen uses scotch bonnet peppers. We had the jerk lamb plate, jerk ribs plate, and the jerk chicken sandwich. I'll have check out the oxtail special when it gets back on the menu. There is a cool relaxed atmosphere and everyone was friendly.

If you are going to test the laws of physics on how much taste your body can handle this is definitely not the first place you want to go. the grade 5 professional level of flavor they serve at Jerk Shack Kitchen is not for amateurs. There is somewhere between 2 to 3 metric tons of taste per bite so you might get an overdose of flavor, be forewarned, now that thou is warned and please note that the amount of flavor in this food is illegal and at least thirteen states and 9 Providence's in Canada. The staff are friendly and the portions are very good while you sit and eat and making food, they be listening to music might be true what they say happy employees make better food. You will find the Jerk Schack tucked around the building. When you walk in the counter to order is right below the menu board. I ordered the jerk chicken which was good. They make the jerk seasoning in house so it does not taste like the typical jerk chicken but don't get me wrong it has a good flavor and juicy. I had the coconut drink (I forgot the name) that was really good.

I feel like there really aren't a ton of places to have Caribbean food and Jerk Shack makes a great introduction. The building has some limited retail parking that can be a bit tight, but I managed to snag the last spot on a Friday night around 6:30 PM. The actual restaurant itself only has 3 tables inside, but there are some extra ones outside that were clean and good vibes at least in the summer. Jerk Ribs (3.75): The ribs were actually fantastic - fall off the bone and super flavorful. The sides were a lot rougher; the rice and beans were cold, bland, and kinda felt not cooked enough. The plantains I expected to be crispy, but they were kinda just big, chewy logs that weren't the most pleasant. Soft Shell Crab Sandwich (4.25/5): There was a bit too much bread ratio wise for my preference, but the crab was super crunchy and seasoned to perfection. The fries were insanely dusted, which I really appreciated as well.

Would absolutley recommend. I read a lot of Yelp reviews on JSK before ordering because I haven't had it since it was Jerk Shack located in Belltown. I ordered the soft shell crab plate for delivery and loved it. What a treat to have all the different flavors and textures of the crispy juicy seasoned crab, a simple limey crunchy slaw, subtly spiced jerk rice, and sweet caramelized plantains all on one plate! I read a lot of reviews that were dissing the rice, but I enjoyed it. It definitely had that jerk flavor to it, yes it was subtle but it was a great compliment to the very flavorful seasoned crab and tangy sauces. Every element balanced together for the perfect satisfying meal. Can't wait to order this again.

I had the pleasure of finding that I can make it all the way to the CD and back to my office by coming here and I'm glad that I did. This place is tucked away behind Arte Noir. You can smell it before you see it. Walking in the kitchen is bustling I was surprised to see the boss man in so early. They had my to go order plates and packed up within 10 minutes of me arriving and they'd just opened. The freaking soft shell crab sandwich! Please do not miss out on the flavor bomb! So delicious and the jerk fries are the best nice and crunchy. I've since been back another time to get that meal and a Mac and cheese as well as some greens and my goodness my tummy couldn't have thanked me more. Thank you for sharing your culinary gift with the world!

the SOFTSHELL CRAB HERE IS A MUST TRY. They were perfectly fried; crunchy and crispy on the outside with the center perfectly soft! The green sauce for them pairs amazingly with them as well. The jerk fried chicken was also perfectly cooked and very juicy, highly recommend the proteins here. However, the rice and beans as well as the salad were lacking compared to other Caribbean spots in Seattle... the rice and beans were exceedingly dry and inedible to me. The slaw came without sauce but garlic and hot sauce were available on the side, very basic. I would love to try their sandwiches, as maybe the other carb option would be less dry. The service was friendly and quite fast and the half indoor half outdoor seating was BEAUTIFUL on a warm summer evening - highly recommend coming for dinner in the summer :)

I wanted to give this place a try as I love Caribbean food and just learned about it. It's located in the Central District. There is a limited parking in a small parking garage, maybe a total of 6 retail parking spaces. Otherwise you'll have to find parking in the street. I ordered the Jerk Shrimp plate. I chose fried shrimp over baked. It was delicious and very flavorful! The plantains were sweet and the cole slaw was good. I did not care for the rice and peas, it was very bland. I also had a side of Mac n cheese and it was tasty! The in house lemonade was tart. I was there with family. My daughter had the jerk fish plate with the same sides as me and really liked it, she said it was flavorful but not the rice. My Aunt had the jerk rib plate and she did not like it at all. She said it was bland, had no flavor. She also ordered the jerk chicken and did not like it. I tried her jerk chicken and I agree. The jerk seasoning was different. I wouldn't order it again. Oh and she didn't like the rice either. My son had the jerk burrito and enjoyed it. Service was slow. They only had one cook and it took about 40 minutes for our food to come. But the staff was really cool despite being busy and understaffed. Overall I would suggest sticking with seafood plates and burrito. I would order the meat by the pound and get Mac and cheese and plantain as my sides. I would try their food again but stay away from the chicken and ribs.

Food - we did take out for the jerk Mac n cheese and my partner got the beans with pork. We liked both and would definitely order again! Service - they packaged things securely and effectively! Ambiance - N/A because takeout

Lil shop in Central District serving Caribbean food. Awesome portions, wonderfully flavored. Soft Shell Crab Sandwich ($22) - crispy, delicious, saucy. Jerk spiced freshly fried fries on the side. Jerk Chicken Plate ($20) - the most tender chicken I think I've had. Rice and plantains were also on point. Empty on a Thursday Evening, food was ready in 10 mins. Limited Seating inside. Order at counter and seat yourself.

Lorenzo opened Paseo in 1994, where his popular Cuban roast pork sandwiches were regarded as among the best in the country. After years of local expansion, Paseo abruptly filed for bankruptcy in 2014. The brand was subsequently bought out by a local entrepreneur, but the sale did not include Paseo's secret recipes (the reboot attempted to reverse engineer the sandwiches with varying success). So, in 2015, Lorenzo's sons revived Paseo under a new name, Un Bien, armed with their father's original recipes. Nowadays, Un Bien is generally regarded as superior to Paseo, and you can grab their Caribbean sandos at one of the three locations across Seattle. You can't miss the pastel pink-and-teal palette of the original shack on an otherwise drab block of Ballard. As you approach the wooden window, you are greeted by the aroma of sauteed meats and veggies. Communal laquered wood benches are lined up underneath a covered pergola. Fifties hits ring respectfully around the kitchen. My partner and I visited for late weekday lunch, and we ordered immediately. We opted to focus on the signature pork shoulder, so we split the #1 Caribbean Roast and #2 The Press. Across both sandwiches, we were impressed by the tender pork, rich onions, lemon-forward aioli, and marinade-soaked baguette. The standard roast pork sandwich added on pickled jalapenos and crisp romaine, culminating in a dynamic flavor that accentuated the meat. Meanwhile, The Press featured tart banana peppers, smoked ham, and melty Swiss, amping up the sweet and savory flavors alike; we agreed that this extra-messy sandwich just edged out the standard version. Our order took just minutes to be prepared, and the bill just topped $30. Despite the fanfare, I still found myself surprised by just how satisfying Un Bien's sandwiches turned out to be. Across all the food I ate in Seattle, only these pork sandwiches would be worth a return visit, even if I had to venture out of my way.

We ordered promptly, but were told we would only have about 10 minutes to use the seating area before it closed. When we asked for clarification because the restaurant was advertised as being open until 9:00 PM, staff confirmed they were open until then but said the seating area would close earlier anyway. After receiving our food, we were told not to sit down and were asked to leave the seating area altogether. The interaction felt abrupt and discourteous, especially given that we had arrived well before closing and had purchased food with the expectation that we could eat on-site. The food itself was average, but the poor customer service and inconsistent messaging about seating left a much stronger impression than the meal. There are other better places. Skip.

I find it annoying when jerk seasoning isn't spicy enough. The seasoning tastes even spicier when I drink water, and the heat spreads. So good! I was also happy they use boned chicken, which is more flavorful. I asked about veggies, that is $2 extra. Oxtails plate, add rice & peas, $24 + $1 - 5 Stars With beefy stock, these oxtail pieces are well-seasoned and paired well with root vegetables. Everything arrived at once rather than in courses, but it didn't take away from the experience. Every dish was packed with flavor. The aloo pies had a taste reminiscent of samosas :: crispy on the outside with a warmly spiced filling :: and were served with a tangy chutney that complemented them perfectly. The jerk chicken was the standout. Tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned with warm, balanced spices :: it was easily the highlight of the meal. Being from the East Coast, I was really looking forward to some true Jamaican jerk chicken or flavorful oxtail, and unfortunately this missed the mark for me. The best comparison I can think of is making baby back ribs in the oven, pouring barbecue sauce on top, and calling them authentic BBQ ribs -- without the seasoning, smoke, or hours of preparation that make the real thing special. One big plus was the ample parking with generously sized spaces, which is definitely appreciated.
