    The Pork/ Chicken Banh Mi
    Diana C.

The bahn mis are good portion sizes and they have several vegetarian options. They also have a vegan option on the tofu ones. The ingredients tasted fresh too. The service was just ok, but we were doing take out anyways. There's a bunch of tables and games so folks can stay awhile if you'd like, but make sure you clean your table off before sitting down. Cute spot for take out or a casual board game hang with friends.

Honestly was a little disappointed after seeing such high reviews. We ordered the crackle mi and spicy beef vermicelli. The bread was not the best and the pork belly was pretty much all fat. Ratio of filling to bread wasn't what I expected either compared to what you can get at other banh mi spots. The spicy beef vermicelli was forgettable as well.

We wanted something fast after the visit at the Woodland Zoo, and you can't go wrong with banh mi (if you don't mind the crumbs of course). I got the food about 10 minutes after ordering. The inside is spacious and has lots of tables for dine-in. The banh mi sandwiches are long (and skinny), and are stuffed with ingredients. We each had half of 2 sandwiches, The Crackle Mi (pork + egg) and Spicy Lemongrass beef. I really enjoyed both. And I was full after 3/4 of it.

CrackleMi is a cute restaurant that I would grab lunch at regularly if I worked across the street! However, I think they're a pretty typical Vietnamese restaurant for Seattle, so I'm surprised their overall rating is so much higher than other sandwich spots (I think their rating should be around 3.6 stars but they currently are at 4.6 stars with about 30-35 reviews so far for this location). It's also a turn off that their food safety rating is only "okay". Service was good (5/5 stars). You order at a kiosk and are asked to tip, but will need to get up to get napkins, silverware, and/or water. We enjoyed our bahnmi sandwich (3.5/5 stars) and vermicelli noodle bowl (3/5 stars), but all of the flavoring and seasoning tasted like it came out of a packet or bottle. As other reviewers have noted, I felt like I could've made the dishes at home. The ambiance (5/5 stars) was modern and clean.

I had not stopped in the OG CrackleMi in Ballard, but decided today to check out their second location in Fremont (7/28/23). As an aside, this was a beloved indie cafe (The Still Life), a former Sicilian restaurant, and later some short lived sandwich spot. CrackleMi - Fremont is perfectly situated near a main intersection in this lively neighborhood with tech businesses, retail shops, cafes, bars, and other restaurants. Lucked out with free 2 hour parking directly across the street, yay! The interior was inviting with various seating arrangements, and plenty of natural light. Ordering is completed via self serve kiosks that had a wide variety of menu items displayed. I was a bit disappointed that there was no pork lechon banh mi which was the instigation for this visit. But that's okay, I ended up ordering their signature CrackleMi banh mi. I also ordered some fresh shrimp rolls with peanut sauce. There wasn't anyone onsite dining at the time, so I decided to just get these items as takeout. After a brief wait, I was handed a large brown bag with my order. Back at home, I enjoyed the fresh shrimp rolls with peanut sauce. The crisp and aromatic herbs and greens were the exclamation point to these rolls. I appreciated how they were nicely wrapped and packaged as takeout. It was perfect on this warm afternoon. The CrackleMi banh mi was fairly sizeable, nearly a foot in length. Packed full of fresh ingredients: grilled pork, braised pork belly, fried egg, pickled daikon & carrot, green onions, cucumber, cilantro, mayo spread, encased in a toasted baguette. I did request the omission of jalepenos though. Tasty and easily shareable. I nibbled only a little, saving the rest for dinner. I still prefer the banh mi versions though from Q Bakery and Voi Ca Phe though. Nice addition to Seattle's Fremont dining scene!

CrackleMi has come to Fremont! Was getting ready to order some takeout on a lazy Monday and was pleasantly surprised that there is now a Fremont spot. Done takeout from the Ballard one several times now. But this one is so much closer to me. Hubby loves their broken rice bowls. I got just a CrackleMi banh mi this time and it was great like usual. It's huge! Online ordering is quick and easy, and you can customize your order. Also, the prices are quite reasonable here. They apparently do breakfast at this location and I can't wait to try the pb&j banh mi. Definitely give this place a try!

This is a new business that opened in Fremont, and I'm glad I checked it out! It's a cafe serving Vietnamese food, and they offer a variety of noodle bowls, broken rice bowls, banh mi, and more. I got the crackle mi and it was soooo good! The meat was flavorful and tender, and went well with all the other toppings. I really liked the addition of fried egg! The sandwich was also very big, so I saved half of it for leftovers. Super excited to have this new restaurant open, and I'd recommend everyone to check it out! The food is really tasty and really great value.

Vegetable Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce
    Karen Z.

This might be my favorite Yelp find of 2024 so far! I visited at the end of a trip, and we were craving something wholesome and fresh. CrackleMi turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. To start, my partner and I split the Vegetable Spring Rolls which were so yummy! These were some of the best (and the largest) spring rolls I've ever had. We went with the Peanut Sauce and it was great too. For the main, I got the Savory Spicy Lemongrass Tofu Banh Mi, and it was amazing! Each individual part was done well - the tofu was savory without being overcooked, the sauce was tangy, the vegetables tasted fresh, and the bread had a great texture. I ordered without the Jalapeño and it wasn't too spicy (which is what I was looking for). They were also very generous with the portion size and included plenty of tofu. We also liked that CrackleMi had a laid-back, casual vibe. The service was fast, and the interior was spacious and clean. It was a 10/10 experience overall - I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Seattle!

    Bussin bowl - IG @bougiefoodieboi
    Kyle W.

Large portions, fairly fast casual type of restaurant. I went here to try the bussin bowl which has pork chop and pork belly. I got it half salad half rice since they do say portions are huge. Food wise, it is good and large portions, but it is not really of high quality. Egg was overcooked and pork belly has a bit of fat. Rice was also a bit on the softer side. Otherwise, for a broken rice dish, it does satisfy my cravings for Vietnamese food. There is enough food for a large meal or two satisfying meals, so price was fairly solid. At the end of the meal, you bus your own table, so everything is self-serve aside from the dish being delivered to you.

    Iced Vietnamese Coffee

I almost ordered an Americano (my go to) and decided on the Vietnamese coffee instead and thank goodness I came to my senses because it was SO good. Super creamy and smooth, like the kind of coffee you can't put down until it's sadly all gone. Luckily, I ordered the lemongrass bahn mi to accompany my drink and that was equally bomb too! The bread was soft and the sandwich so flavorful, the kind of menu item you order again and again and again. 10/10 experience.

Nice to see CrackleMi open a location in Fremont! I had the Bussin Bowl (half rice half salad), which was a huge portion and I definitely had leftovers. Great flavor though it could've been less salty. You order on the tablets at the front so it's more of a self-service situation, but I did appreciate that a server brought me water unprompted (even though you can get it yourself)! Lots of seating, so it'd be a good option for larger groups too. There were also several people doing work. The space is open and welcoming, and I appreciate that they're open late!

    Smokey chicken bowl
    Amanda S.

I got the Smokey Chicken Bowl with half rice/half salad and it was delicious! Huge portion so was able to save some for leftovers. When you order you order from a tablet, not a person, which I actually enjoyed. The menu had good descriptions and pictures. The food did take a bit to come out so I wish that would have been faster. They also offer free hot tea!

The custard duck egg is an excellent starter, with a rich, savory broth that delivers a deep, yolky umami punch. The rau ram oil and herb is such a creative twist that adds the perfect herbal dimension. The radicchio pudding was light and offered a clean, almost grassy brightness without being overwhelming in flavors. Great option for any vegans at the table. The wagyu beef tallow fries were some of the best fries I've ever had. Ultra-crispy, perfectly thick-cut, and deeply flavorful with beef notes shining through, without being too heavy. Like many of the dishes here, perfectly balanced in flavor. The grilled eggplant with whipped tofu and crispy sun chokes was another standout. The tofu whip was so smooth and should be considered a worthy sub for mayo. The eggplant was soft, creamy, and perfectly charred. The garlic rice was incredibly savory and maybe my favorite version of it yet. Packed with the perfect depth of garlicky flavor and seasoning. Finally for dessert - I thought the durian fruit cup was decent, it's great for durian lovers but next time I will be back to try their other desserts. The hollow bread is a must-try. It's fried to perfection, the inside is steamy and the butter it comes with is perfect but the bread alone is so good that it doesn't need it. The perfect touch of roasted sesame. Slightly sweet, it's a delight in textures and perfect in cold weather. The oyster on half shell in happy hour is also a great standard oyster, very fresh, with a nuanced Viet twist in the sauces. Vegetable dip is pretty standard and also delicious, great if you're looking for a healthy starter. Coffee rubbed ribs were fantastic as well and an incredible deal for the size.
