An auspicious start to date night...we were supposed to have dinner at a restaurant and learned that it had closed. Plan B was to find another nearby restaurant...and so we did. Going through the Daniel Fast, we have a new appreciation for vegetarians and in even more so for vegans. Many places we have gone to during the Daniel fast has not been vegan friendly. Cracker Barrell Old Country Store did not have many vegan options. Understand that this restaurant is known for its down home cooking loaded with gravies, butter and bread. My hubby had a bake potato with green onion. I had grits. Not the most exciting dinner, but it hit the spot at the time. Cracker Barrel had everything from Valentines Day and Easter (Yes Easter!) to Christmas. If you wanted it, they had it. My hubby and I reminisced regarding the type of candy we ate as a child. Cracker Barrel had a wide variety of candy, clothing, cook wear and outerwear. They also now have their own rewards program. We noticed today that Cracker Barrel has its on branded goods...pretty cool. Their country store is always delightful. I couldn't resist this cute little Christmas stuffed animal (70% off...yep my shopping love language).

Grilled shrimp, rice and pinto beans

Stopped in for lunch with my Aunt and was surprised they didn't have a lunch menu. So we order off the regular menu. Shrimp was great, pinto beans were great. Rice needed to cook longer. Our server was nice and busy. Didn't bring biscuits until after our meal came.

I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years and had breakfast today. What a pleasant surprise! In the past I've had some very mediocre experiences, but I'm happy to report that our breakfast meals were excellent, the server was excellent, and checking in online made getting a Sunday morning table easy. I'm glad they didn't modernize the interior of this restaurant. It's still got the old American whimsy we all grew up with at Cracker Barrel. I will definitely be back!

I'll first start off by saying how the hostess Emma walked into the bathroom stall with her apron on & the strings to the apron dragging all across the bathroom floor. Very disgusting & unsanitary. This place was extremely busy, but that's expected on a Sunday afternoon. We waited approximately 30 minutes before being seated & another 20 minutes for food. The fried chicken was SO hard, almost inedible. The fried apples were gritty & the hash brown casserole wasn't seasoned at all. I think the only thing I enjoyed most was the biscuits that were brought out before the meal.

Overall the experience was good. Our server, Liam did a great job keeping up with refills and our questions as we had them. He was good at keeping an eye on our needs. It was not too busy at around 6pm on a Sunday which was nice. We spent our Peg Points at the gift shop and found a few small things to take home from our experience. We shall be returning again, unfortunately the only one close to us is about 40 mins away so it's not a regular stop, but when we go it's nice.

I have not been to Cracker Barrel in over a year. So decided to go and glad I did. So delicious and new food changes. Liz our server was wonderful and so attentive even with a packed place. Went during breakfast it was packed and felt like a family reunion eating breakfast. The food was so good a wonderful experience.

Being on a Sunday probably made it super crowded and very busy. It was loud and very cold inside. A lot of families with children but that's probably expected since it was a Sunday morning, we arrived around 9 Am and around 10:00 Am the people were outside lined up to come in, the parking lot was super crowded, that they even took the spaces that were just for the buses. Food was good, you had to eat fast because of the cold air blowing, made your food get cooler real fast. Next time we are in Round Rock, we will go on a weekday to see if there's a difference

Service was good - rainbow trout and seasoned rice (2) - they ran out of rice! Replaced it with steak fries and fried apples. A bit of a wait for the rice - which they could not make in a reasonable time.

We were greeted immediately at the door, and the restaurant had a beautiful country-inspired, rustic wood aesthetic that made the ambience feel warm and inviting. We were offered an appetizer that wasn't quite my taste, but hey, it's the thought that counts! The pasta, on the other hand, was delicious, although I felt it could've used a little more depth of flavor--maybe an extra touch of garlic or seasoning to really bring everything together. Overall, I had a really good experience, enjoyed my time there, and would definitely give the drinks their own shoutout because they were AMAZING! Great service, a lovely atmosphere, and a few small opportunities to elevate the food. Wait staff is quick and friendly. I ordered the chorizo-stuffed pork medallions. It came with chunky mashed potatoes and a medley of sautéed vegetables. Everything on that plate was above-par delicious! The three pork medallions were screaming with flavor and über tender. The chunky mashed potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. Yeah, sautéed veggies are hard to get wrong, but these were good as well, with just the right amount of seasoning. Prices may be a bit more than you'd normally want to spend for lunch, but this ain't no fast food joint. The meal and service are both top drawer and worth every penny. Next time I come through Round Rock, I know where I'll be dining.

My…read morefriend, who was building out the reservation, asked why we would need to be there for three hours, from 6 to 9 pm, before our next plan on our itinerary. By the end of the night, when we were rushing to make it to our 9 pm event, she understood. Whiskey Cake is one of those New American craft kitchens that has a great bar and consistently great food, even if it doesn't immediately blow you out of the park. I drank a few drinks here, starting with their Texas Barrel Aged Old Fashioned, made from Still Austin Bourbon, a honeysuckle liqueur, vanilla, and orange bitters. A really strong but full-bodied cocktail with a lot of great flavors at play. I drank a local Austin beer on tap that I'm suddenly blanking on off the draft, and ended the night with a Montucky Cold Snack combo with a small pour of bourbon (maybe 1792, don't quote me). We only ate appetizers and sharables while at Whiskey Cake. I'll try to run through everything we had: Local Goat Cheese Fondue: A uniquely sharp experience. The bread was fantastic, but I'm very particular on my cheese and decided goat cheese wasn't for me. Roasted Garlic Hummus: The pita bread rocks, and so did the hummus, which is the actual selling point of the dish. Fries & Friends: Literally a basket of fries and dipping sauces. Not bad at all, but I don't know what you would expect. Deviled Eggs: I can't truly get behind hard-boiled eggs for some reason, but if I don't perceive that it's a hard-boiled egg, I can imagine that these are killer. I really enjoyed this. Charcuterie Board: A little bit of this, a little bit of that. A really excellent collection. The cheddar, the sausage, the cured meats, and the honey were all standouts, and it is probably the best table appetizer to get if you're also getting a full meal. Just little snacks for everyone! We ended the night with some of their Whiskey Cake, which is absolutely delightful and is obviously what they are known for. The waitress that served us was fantastic and timely and super friendly. The atmosphere was generally very nice and led to good conversations and had a solid energy. Ultimately, Whiskey Cake impressed me for what it offers and what it can be. They also definitely got whiskey. Tons of whiskey.

We were able to change tables to accommodate more privacy. Casey was our server and so helpful. One of my family has dietary restrictions and Casey let us know the kitchen could rework almost anything to accommodate us. She also helped us get an order in before the happy hour ended. The artichoke dip well presented and good but not memorable. The old fashioned and margarita are excellent. For the main event I had the smoked pork chop. There is not a part of the dish I don't think was perfect. The chop, sauce, broccoli and slaw combined perfectly. I would say come back for this alone, but the tavern burger and chicken sandwich were great as well. The fries are crunchy on the outside and flaky inside. Grilled vegetables are an excellent side. You shouldn't leave without an order of the whiskey cake. "I only want a bite," doesn't exist. If you aren't very hungry start with dessert and add the main dish to go. Whiskey Cake has an exhaustive whiskey list and Wednesday has $7 pours which makes tasting easy. I hear brunch is excellent; I can't wait to try it.

The Bichota cocktail was a standout--sweet, refreshing, and with just enough of a kick to keep you sipping slowly. The Old Fashioned was equally impressive: sweet yet balanced, served in a stylish glass with a unique holder that made the experience feel elevated. For food, the chicharrón with fried yuca and tostones was perfection. The pork was fried to a crisp golden shell without being greasy, and seasoned just right--not too salty, but enough to make every bite crave-worthy. The yuca and tostones were cut to the perfect thickness for even cooking, with a satisfying crunch outside and tender inside, especially when dipped into their garlicky sauce. The cheese sticks are an absolute must-have--crispy outside, oozy inside, and dangerously addictive. And the arepas? Exceptionally good--stuffed with beans, cheese, beef, and sweet plantains for that perfect salty-sweet balance. Every plate showed attention to texture, seasoning, and presentation. Price Considering the quality of ingredients, creative plating, and generous portions, the prices felt fair for a fusion dining experience. The cocktails were crafted with care and worth every penny. Appetizers could easily be shared, making it easy to get variety without breaking the bank. Environment We sat outside and it was amazing for groups, dates, and inside it is super cool. The décor is not fancy but really fun Austin style. There is a section bar where they play music which I want to try. Service The service was cool and amicable. It looks the server was new but he did give recommendations. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great pairing suggestions. Dishes came out at a good pace, and drinks were refreshed quickly. You could tell the staff was proud of the food they were serving, which made the whole experience even better. Overall: If you're looking for a place where Latin flavors meet creative execution, this spot is worth the visit.
