The service was "okay". Nothing wrong with the service but nothing that stands out. This month when we went a new crew was severing and cooking in the kitchen. The service was excellent when the older African American lady was managing the staff. She kept the restructure clean and never let your drink glass get empty. The food is delicious. Everything was fresh drinks and meal. Temperature of the food was good. The restaurant environment overall was cozy. We don't go often because it is 20 minute drive from our house. I would highly recommend chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns. Blueberry fried muffins. Can't go wrong with anything on there menu. read more

I thought I had read this was under new management so was hoping for improvement. A long while since our last visit. There was a realtor's key holder on the door...hmmm. Half of the restaurant had chairs flipped onto tables at 1pm....hmmm. Very unwelcoming. Service was one server but only one other table and us. Food was served hot and as described in the menu. The entrees were Denver Omlette with Hash Brown and Hash browns with eggs, bacon and sausage gravy. Both came with a biscuit. Had to ask for butter. Side order of pancakes. Haven't tried this place in over a year. They have improved 1000%. The restaurant was clean with new menus, the service staff was attentive, and the food was excellent. Eggs cooked to order, biscuits and gravy were delicious, and the bacon crispy. Will be there again soon. read more

Our RC Club tried out Huddle House for our post meeting breakfast today. I was pleasantly surprised! The food was great & portions were ample! Our group ordered a variety of items including omelettes, waffles & egg dishes. The bacon was crisp, as were the hash browns, and the waffles perfectly cooked! Our waitress was awesome! She got all the orders right & kept the cups & glasses filled. Huddle House is inside a truck stop/travel station, so isn't really easy to spot. Definitely worth a stop!! read more

We were looking for a diner for brunch. You know, classic breakfast food that doesn't break the bank. We read the reviews and thought we'd give it a try. Let me start by saying the staff was exceptional. I forget the name of the waitress but she told us she's been there since they opened. Her recommendations were spot on. She was friendly, attentive and gave us the right amount of follow up. The food was really good. Growing up in a big city I'm always skeptical eating at a place connected to a gas station, but don't let that stop you. This is Texas. Waffles and pancakes were huge. Eggs done just right. The biscuits and gravy did not disappoint and the hash browns showed up just like the photo on the menu, which is typically not the case at most other places. If you are looking for a breakfast/brunch option give it a try. Oh- we also tried the cheesy bacon tots and they were so good. read more

2/25/2024 - new management We've eaten here about every 6-8 weeks for several yrs now. Today we were surprised by a whole new staff. What a surprising and refreshing change. It started with TT noticing our table wasn't spotless ( I didn't even see what she noticed ) but instead of pretending she hadn't noticed, she apologized and said she needed to re-wipe down the table. ( nice touch ) Then our mgr/waitress, Marissa, noticed my order could be morphed into a Value Combo meal with a change in how it was rung up. ( WOW a waiter actually working to provide value to the customer, instead of their bottomline) Food was well prepared and the over all vibe was Positive !! Time for those less than happy before to give this Huddle House another try !! Needless to say I was impressed with the work ethic of TT and Marissa. Great food! Great service! Reasonably priced items. They are practically giving away their MVP breakfast! Puts the Grand Slam to shame! Not quite Waffle House but in a pinch the Huddle will step in and be your temporary House. I updated the menu prices as the others were out of date and did not reflect the current prices. We came here for the first time this morning (Saturday at 9:45AM) and it wasn't busy at all when we got there. We immediately got seated but while eating our food, it got SO packed and at one point, I heard a cook yell out that it'll be a 30min wait on food. Definitely try to get there in the earlier morning times. Also, it's attached to the Walburg traveling/gas center store. The diner is also small and depending on where you sit, it's not as spacious as you'd probably like. In comparison to Waffle House or the Pancake House in Austin (which I die for both of those), I'd give them 3 stars. We decided to come here after getting their promotional paper coupons in the mail. As far as the waitress, she didn't seem too excited to be at work or very friendly (or maybe she was new). It wasn't the best service but it wasn't the worst. She really only came to the table when we made eye contact to signal we needed her, and once it got really busy in there, we couldn't find the waitress for a while. This is the reason for losing one of the stars. For the food: again, comparing to Waffle House & Pancake House, it was just alright. I'm a southern girl so I like my food seasoned well. Their hashbrowns were not seasoned at all. They taste like someone just sprinkled salt and pepper on the top. The eggs were kind of dry like/hard, and I asked for cheese on mine. My partner had to put syrup on hers for more taste. Also, the grits were SUPER watery. They only gave us forks and the grits literally fell through the fork they were so watery. Everything looked better on paper than in person. The toast was great and had butter already on it & the bacon was cooked great. The strawberry packages my partner ordered were a plus also. They are HUUUUUUGE (as you can tell in the photos I posted), they were so big you couldn't see the plate at all and the waitress said they're usually bigger than that! Just a fair warning if you're ordering pancakes. Also, the coffee was good and the strawberry lemonade was so good too (kinda sweet, how I like it). Overall, I've had way better but it's a decent spot & not expensive at all. I couldn't see myself coming back regularly but that's just me. read more

Yeah the coffee wasn't bad at all! Service was spot on. Hubs had a meat lover's omelette, HBs, toast. It was exactly how he ordered it (soft). I had 3 scrambled and country ham, they do not have Canadian bacon. The ham I had was over done and very very salty. The eggs were perfect. I was also given a fruit bowl, which was fresh, and grits which I do not eat. Huddle House is super close to our house and we will most likely come here again. It's not a very big establishment, and is attached to the Walburg Travel Center. Give it a try! We were pleasantly surprised. read more

This is really about a 3-1/2 star, but I can't do half stars. I compare this place in terms of at.osphere and menu to Waffle House. And in truth, I like the food quality at Waffle House better. I ordered hash browns all the way and I was a little disappointed when I had to order the chili as a separate item to top them with. All in all not bad, but not impressive food or service. This morning was the first time we have tried this restaurant. I ordered the Big House and my husband ordered the VIP. Both were great, plenty of food you won't go away hungry! There was one waitress taking orders and seating everyone and another worker bringing the plates of food to the tables. Both were working their as$es off! They did a great job. One Sunday morning when there for breakfast at 7:30am (their opening time is 6:30 am). The cook was the only employee there so he came to the door and motioned they would not open. A week later we arrived at 7:30 am for breakfast, they were open with one cook and one waitress and they were very busy. Service was very poor, food was served cold. We watched food orders over and over just sitting in the pick up window (heating lamp off) while the waitress would be taking more orders or getting drinks so it was not hard to understand why our food was cold. We stood and waited to be seated for 10 minutes (it was not busy) The waitress assigned to our table was no where to be found. Another waitress finally came and took our drink order. Do forget to sign up for their rewards program for sales discounts and deals when you dine with them. They also offer curbside to go pickup. It's another option if you want something other than dennys. I had the signature sausage and gravy stuffed hashbrowns, and my wife had the ham and cheese stuffed hashbrowns. 10 out of 10!! We went this morning because of the 50 cent waffle promotion for the grand opening. It was fantastic! We had to wait 30 minutes because it was packed but that was okay because we roamed around the truck stop for a bit. As soon as we got back outside to wait they called us in and got us seated. Brittney was our waitress and she was amazing! She had such a wonderful attitude and she was very attentive even though it was so busy, she did great, I hope the next time we go back she'll wait on us. The food was delicious, of course we got the waffles and they were so much better than the average homemade waffle. The blueberry bites were a little sweet but the crunch was so good. I feel like the biscuits were homemade, they were phenomenal. (I didn't get any pictures because we were starving but it looked so good, just like it did on the app). read more

OK, I am completely changing my review! Can't believe what a few weeks can change! Found out our waitress that we liked is no longer there, Tiffany. When asked around to couple different people, they looked like, they never even heard of her. Their reply was "Well, she is not here today", like "Wow"..you don't know other wait staff that work other ships, maybe. They said the wait time would be like 15 min...turned into 30 min. We got seated, and they took our order...but then.......................the waitress disappeared (and this is a small place). But, tables around us that got seated before us...3 tables...and us, and sitting , and waiting....We thought the table next to us, a family of like 6, were already finished, no, they finally got their food about 30 minutes after we sat (who knows how long they were before we got there). The couple directly behind us, who got seated before us, finally got their food after us. It took over 45 minutes to get our food! It is like when they first opened! They got better the 2nd and 3rd time we went. But, could not believe seeing all of the tables and us......just waiting! Ridiculous! Then, we we got our food, my sausages were like little tiny hockey pucks! My Fiancee' omelet was dark yellow, like maybe over cooked, or sitting under heat lamp, and he said it tasted dried out. The toast, I think they throw on the flat top, as flattened, and not butter on it. My Fiancee finally got his second cup of coffee, AFTER our 45 min for food. Capacity during January 21 is limited to 75%, so getting a table in this small truck stop can take 30" on Sunday mornings. First, the breakfast is really good. Hot, and tasty! Wait staff are nice, but busy. Portions are truck stop worry. The "MVP" breakfast is large! Pancake or waffle, choice of two eggs, hash browns, bacon or sausage, biscuits and gravy. I was hungry and couldn't eat it all. Best biscuits and gravy that I have had in Texas. Would have been 5 stars, but the wait was a little too long, with a wait after ordering to get food, but a treat in the midst of c-19. Would I return? Absolutely, next week!!! read more

We apparently annoyed our waitress when she came up to take our order. My wife's oncologist called at the same moment. My wife uses a walker and is bald due to chemo, so it's pretty apparent she's not well. Anyway, the waitress from then on served us after everything else. There were three other tables. She took our order about 10-15 minutes after we asked her to wait. When our food was cooked, the cook set the plates on the counter. Our waitress slowly swept the clean restaurant and cleared and cleaned a vacated table until she felt the food would be cold. These activities took about 12 minutes. Unfortunately, my wife didn't read the menu closely enough and when she ordered the hashbrowns, she did not say "no cheese." Her hash browns had cheese on them. She said to another waitress that she couldn't handle dairy. The waitress said, "It's right there on the menu" and then picked up the plate when my wife reiterated that she can't eat dairy. I ate my food, which was lukewarm. My wife's plate came back well after I had finished. Then when we were ready to check out, both (and only) waitresses were on a 15-minute break. We simply sat there for another 15-20 minutes before they came back and we could pay the bill and leave. Unfortunately, we will never go back. I say that, because it's close by and the food is very good. Just don't piss off the wait staff, I guess. read more

Today was our first time here and definitely won't be our last, we loved it! We started with the appetizer sampler (yes we had fried mozzarella at breakfast because we could - the whole menu is served all day!) and it was really good. Wish the ranch dressing was homemade but it was still good. My kids split the Oreo cookie pancake... they give it two enthusiastic thumbs up . My husband had the French toast, it was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I had the smothered biscuit which was a TON of food! I barely finished one biscuit, and that was with help from the kids. The sweet tea is true southern sweet tea so I preferred half and half. Our waitress, Sophia, was wonderful! She told us to download the Huddle House app and we got our appetizer for free. Service was great, the restaurant was clean, and the food was soo good! read more
