This shows the Landry's management simply doesn't care about their customer experience which is regretful. Unfortunately, Saltgrass steakhouse in Round Rock is on the very bad end of the Saltgrass's spectrum. I've dined here several times in the past and have crossed this particular branch off. From surly hostesses to steaks coming out cold or being overcharged for beer, the issues I've had here never seemed to end or get resolved. The on-site manager never had any interest in resolving them and a survey by Landry yielded no responses. Husband ordered the Chopped Steak w/ grilled Onions & sauteed mushrooms & thought it was very good! My 2 friends & I split the Urban Cowboy (12 oz. New York Strip - very tender!) w/ grilled shrimp (my friend's son ate, so we will assume he liked-ha!) & lemon butter, & side salad (always good). We also tried the appetizer Bourbon Glazed Bacon, which none of us like, as it was very fatty. The grilled sirloin was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The mashed potatoes came with adequate cheese (meeting the expectation of my companion). This is a meal worth ordering again. On the other hand, the grilled shrimp was below average. The flavor of the shrimp was boring and the herb rice was mushy. The only highlight was the house salad: very fresh vegetables, no heavy hand with the dressing. Regardless, I will not order the shrimp again. If you are looking for an affordable, amazing steak and great portions Salt Grass is your spot. Came in for lunch on a weekday and our party of 3 was seated right away. I went with the Lunch Portion of the Signature Steak 6 oz with Grilled Shrimp and Mashed Potatoes. Starting with a Wedge Salad. The salads came very quickly after ordering. They placed the salad on the table and I gasped. It was enormous! It ended up being the best Wedge Salad I've ever had. It was nice and cold and I love me some blue cheese. The entree came out before we could finish our salads and there was no way I could finish mine. My steak was cooked to medium rare perfection and the grilled shrimp had a nice charred flavor. Well I've been in the corporate world / travel for over 20 years and I've been to hundreds of restaurants/ bars. Every time I come to the round rock area for work I would stay at the same hotel and usually go to the salt grass that shares the same parking lot. Today I went there and when I walked in I was greeting by a very rude young girl with blond hair and on the shorter side. When I said I wanted to sit at the bar she rolled her eyes and said "ok what ever"?? Then I was waiting for a work colleague and had 2 drinks while waiting. When I ordered my 3rd drink I was told they can't serve me any more until I buy food?? Now I can appreciate any establishment that doesn't want to over serve people. But the general manager was walking around that really she has to check in with people after 3 drinks but since I had 2 without food she was trained to not allow people to order more without buying food. And if you have food she's told to check in with people after 3 drinks. I've never heard of such a thing and felt embarrassed. I'll never go back to this location and to be home probably never go back to another Salt Grass. I even through away my loyalty card. Even the other customers at the bar were blown away by their policy / rules. read more

Today It's my mother's 69th and she LOVESSS this place, we just moved back from Los Angeles and has been only wanting to eat here for her birthday. So we called at 1pm to place a reservation for 530 pm. I have a daughter that is 3 so we specifically asked if we could get a booth, the lady said for sure that could happen. We arrive at 525 to check in and wait 15 mins to be seated. Which is fine it is a Sunday I understand. We get called for out table, just to find out that it's not a booth like we recommended and when I kindly remind we asked for a booth the lady gave me attitude rolled her eyes and says well your going to have to wait alike 20-30 mins. I asked to speak to the manager and was told "he's busy do you want to wait or not" I said no thank you I'll take my business elsewhere. I was here on the evening of 4/12/26; another great dinner ! I've been coming here for at least 20 years, and I can't remember having even one bad experience. The salad with balsamic was great; I had the 9oz filet mignon with asparagus. It was cooked perfectly with some nice butter and smother topping. I had my traditional Old Fashioned drinks that were perfect also. My server was Tobias; he went above and beyond to put it lightly. It was to the point that he told me apologetically that he didn't mean to bother me; checking on me so often. Totally appreciated. If I could give zero stars, then I absolutely would. This was the most abominable experience I have ever had at a Landry's owned restaurant. I had to send my steak back twice before getting it the third time, and it was still cooked incorrectly. Management gave very fake and forced apologies and made me feel very unwelcome. My server was condescending about it, and it made me really uncomfortable. Ultimately, I didn't even eat my meal because my steak was cooked so poorly, and I didn't want to eat a sweet potato alone. I was NEVER offered the option to order something different, but I was instead expected to eat either a raw steak (twice) or a burned and overcooked one. Both managers were very rude and one didn't even apologize. She simply jerked my plate off the table and stalked off before another raw steak was brought back. When I complained again, I was brought the SAME steak that had been put back on the grill and was so overcooked, that it became tough and I could barely cut it. The behavior of the staff is what made an already poor experience even worse. The biggest mistake Landry's made was keeping this travesty open and closing Joe's Crab Shack in Round Rock. This visit is a STARK contrast to the last visit we had at the same restaurant a couple of weeks ago. While we had an issue, it was resolved and our server was so phenomenal, that the other issue was minimized. This time, however, we were let down at every turn. I came to a steakhouse for dinner, and not only left starving because my meal was inedible, but left feeling resentful about how abysmally we were treated by our server in addition to two managers. Since there are no other Landry's restaurants in the Austin area that I'm aware of, it's highly likely that we will ultimately cancel our card if this is how we'll be treated at our home restaurants. If you insist on still visiting this place, then at least try to get GG as your server. He is a 10/10 and is seriously friendly, and one of the most phenomenal servers ever. read more

Love the decor, always spotless and a few TVs. Servers are well trained and ours was friendly and efficient. We always start with the onion strings then moved on to entrees of the shrimp duos. Absolutely yummy! Great quality and still a good value. Only reason I didn't offer the fifth star had to do with the loyalty redemption process. During the reservation process, you are asked for your Landry Select number which I supplied. When the check came in, our server didn't have any of that info. I had to ask to apply my birthday bonus and asked about other points earned. The manager honored the discount but their systems don't seem to communicate.
