    Wonderful unsweet tea. Deliciously refreshing.

What a fantastic late breakfast stop I made here. The best cooking is the simple classic done extremely well. Simmer Down hit that for me. Granted it was a single visit, but from the first interaction with staff to the first look at the plate I knew I was enjoying something special. Eggs (scrambled), bacon (crispy) and hashbrowns (wow). Yawn not, my friends. I'm a baconator, a serial bacon killer, an unabashed orderer and devourer of the swine strips. My bacon sat patiently unattended while I scarfed down the best hashbrowns! Seasoned well. Crispy on the outside and deliciously tender inside. I was sitting alone but made noises like I was passionate with another lol. The eggs were fluffy and beautifully plated. And the bacon? The baconator left licking his lips and happy. I'm going back. See you there -- I'll be the moaning solo eater with the hashbrowns. Don't be frightened or offended, just ask me what I'm eating. Lol

Biscuits & gravy plus bacon; French toast, scrambled eggs with peppers, grits, potatoes, and sausage-- delicious!

We arrived at 10:30am so the restaurant wasn't crowded or noisy which provided a good ambiance for a first date. The twin servers were great! And the food was a delight-- one full breakfast buffet AND a lunch buffet. So I also enjoyed meatloaf, real mashed potatoes, fried chicken, and sweet tea. If you haven't been or it's been a while, I highly recommend going next Sunday before 2pm.

Upon entry we were advised of a 15 minute wait, but looking around the restaurant was nowhere near capacity with the upstairs completely empty, and downstairs there were 2-3 open tables. We were advised after finally being seated that management didn't want to overwhelm the wait staff (to which there was only one working). The hostess did help out with minor table duties on occasion, but management never once lifted a finger in the front of the house, nor made themselves available. I don't know the circumstances for how they got into this situation (lack of staff), but I do know there are a lot more people looking for jobs, then jobs available. Possibly it was a back of the house staffing issue in this case, as the front of the house server, really wasn't that busy. There was still plenty of time for the manager and assistants to be on their cell phones. Wait staff present seemed to be new, so the blame can't be placed on them. Case in point, a part of 8 came in and were told to wait, to which they did, all the while the table they eventually sat in (20-30 minutes later) lay open the entire time. When they were seated they inquired about appetizers and drinks. One comment from the party (to other members of their party) "we could have sat here the whole time" which was true. They could have been drinking drinks, socializing instead of sitting on the wooden waiting benches. During the time we dined at least a dozen individuals either left the restaurant after finding out the wait times, or upon entering seeing the full waiting area decided to dine elsewhere. Service was slow (as expected with one server), but what was odd, is other than the back of the house staff (helping to deliver food), nobody else pitched in much to try and help (other than table setting or clearing). Sometimes crowds come and go, but when business is good, you hustle, and when business is slow you can relax a bit. If there is non-stop business, then it's time to increase the wait staff. The server who was working was pleasant, but offered no apologies or explanations as to why everything was running so slowly. Sometimes just a quick apology goes a long ways. Food was fine, although it was obvious it had been sitting a little while before arriving at the table. Drink glasses were not refilled, asked about the entire evening. When the meal was finished, it took quite a while for the server to recognize, before clearing or payment. I know this is not an upscale restaurant, but management needs to handle the staffing better, and pitch in when needed.

Their mission is to provide employment for adults with special needs and their profits support a vocational program to empower local citizens. When you first enter the building, you see a shop with lots of beautifully crafted and interesting products. Lots to shop here, although prices are high which then again, part of the proceeds go into a good cause and the products are well made. The cafe is located at the back of the shop. We spent a little time browsing the shop before going to the cafe. The cafe itself is so welcoming and spacious! Not a great ton of seating available but there's outdoor seating area with turf, which I can see is a huge plus when cooler weather arrives. I love the signs on the wall, very motivating sayings and quotes. For food, I had the avocado toast with bacon and fried egg and an espresso. It was delicious! Price point was good and food came out hot and fresh. I noticed when we were there, the lady at the counter (presumably the manager) was addressing the patrons by name, which was such a nice touch to see. It feels like this place really cares for their customers and is an established place in the local community. Parking is free and ample spaces available when we went there on a Friday morning. The tequila sunrise was musky and the flavor of the tequila overwhelmed the rest of the drink. I really wanted to like this place! However, I spent $35 on a pretty pitiful brunch meal. Either way, I'd happily return if it had some more food truck options with some better food. These choices gave me gut problems for having stopped in. I see the vision.
