I really want to like this place. But it's just... okay. Definitely very greasy food--and the bacon cheeseburger meal is $18... which, the cheeseburger at Perry's Steakhouse is $20, for reference, and that's made of hand-ground Perry's steak trimmings same-day, so... well, if you catch my drift, Camp Briteside is essentially a concession stand menu with steakhouse prices. The food is decent quality for what it is, for what' it's worth, but not on par with the price charged. The fries are good. I didn't hate my burger. I did get heartburn by the time I left, though, of course. I miss their old menu from when they opened, back when they had table service. That menu had a steak. Of course, their old flat iron steak was also reaching up into Perry's prices, so I can see how that made its way off the menu. The yard at Camp Briteside is pretty cool for a kid. That's why I'm giving them four stars--It has a alright ambiance for a family. I go here for my four-year-old to run around and make friends. If it weren't for him, I'd never return, though. But, it's nearby, and my kid likes it. So, it's a four star social yard for my kid with subpar while overpriced concession food. read more

What a disappointment. Based on the reviews, I had low expectations when I decided to bring my family to this place, still hoping for the best - but the food, my gosh it definitely served up disappointment. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad, and it was honestly one of the worst salads I've had at a restaurant. The Caesar dressing tasted like a cheap imitation rather than actual Caesar dressing, the chicken was lukewarm, and the lettuce was limp and tasted spoiled. I couldn't bring myself to finish it. The fries were decent, but it's hard to go wrong with frozen fries in a fryer. The burger was okay, but after seeing the condition of the salad, I wasn't exactly eager to eat it. My kids' mac and cheese came with a pre-packaged fruit cup instead of fresh fruit, which was another letdown. The margarita was also disappointing--very weak, too sour and upset my stomach I didn't finish it. The outdoor space is nice enough for kids to run around, but don't expect a traditional playground with swings or climbing equipment. It's mostly an open grassy area where kids can kick a soccer ball or throw a softball. What really stood out was the lack of ambiance. There was no music playing outside, so the atmosphere felt oddly flat and quiet. A little background music would have gone a long way in creating a welcoming vibe. We didn't stay long because of it. The one bright spot was the service. The young woman at the front was genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the bartenders got our drinks out quickly. But nothing overly impressive to be honest. Overall, I would *not* return. Food: 1/5. Atmosphere: 2/5. The decent enough service was the only part of the experience that saved this from being a one-star visit. read more

Been here several times. Over the last 6-8 months the service has drastically declined and the word quality should never be used in a sentence describing their food. My wife and I went tonight because I wanted fish and chips. BTW, we live less than a mile away so it is convenient and was on the way home from where we came from. Saying the fish & chips were awful is a compliment. It looked and tasted like chicken fried steak minus the gravy. It was maybe 1/4 inch thick with tons of dry crust and was as dry as their parking lot. Note, if you order fish and it is served with a steak knife, that is a red flag. The chips were chewy. You have to order at the door and 90 seconds in I am given a tablet asking for the tip for my service which has not happened yet. My wife and I ordered iced tea and set at the bar so we could watch the world cup. Since we were not drinking bar drinks, the bartender ignored us and never refilled our tea. The manager was sitting at the end of the bar with another guy that was wearing a Briteside t-shirt drinking a beer and dropping F-bombs. Keep in mind this is a place that caters to families with elementary and junior high kids and they are dropping F-bombs right and left. Manager did come over and ask how my food was. I said "awful". He asked why and I said what I said above. He said "well the cook cooked it too long". No offer of any kind to fix the situation. No apology. When we left he did apologize for the fish but I stated that I didn't feel he meant it since he pretty much dismissed my complaint by changing the subject to the fly fishing resort referenced on my shirt. Again, no attempt to fix this. I said I won't be back and he said 'okay'. So, I won't be back and I suggest, unless you want to drop off your kids at a whiffle ball court and water slide while you drink beer and don't care about the food or the service, don't go. read more

Neat venue, poor food quality. Had the nachos & it's nothing more than white queso over chips with iceberg lettuce & a few pieces of chicken. The dry ranch wings tasted like they were friend in "fish" grease. Burger was ok. Food is overpriced for the poor quality. Given the owners, I'm surprised they don't do better. The only thing going for this spot is live music and kid friendly. Oh and it has a bar. Outside of those things the service is sub-par, food is not much better than public school cafeteria fare, and overall a giant letdown. I feel like this is due to order at the front, and waiting for the food to be brought to you. No follow-up, no checking back. If you do ask for a something, you can assume you're not getting it. We have came here a few times after being invited by friends, and the food is just poorly produce. Chicken fried steak had no flavor, Classic burger was nothing better than Burger King, but at triple the price. Got my son the chicken tender basket, and he wouldn't even eat it. He is 3. He literally only eats chicken tenders and quesadillas! They were tough, and poorly seasoned. If you're going to buy cheap quality meat, learn how to brine and tenderize. Such a great concept and so much potential ruined. If you do go, watch how many parents just have drinks from the bar, and no food while their kids run around and play. Camp Brightside is an awesome family destination. The food is great, cold drinks and entertainment for adults and kids. Great staff. It was slammed when they opened and service was a not fast food fast, but not terrible. They have changed the ordering process and is awesome now. A must try! read more

Food promised as gluten free was not. This is really a problem. One of our party is still sick as a dog hours later. Really disturbing.

Third visit, first after the reconfiguration. You must order, pay and tip after you place your order in front. You also must stand in line as the one attendant takes orders. Seat yourself, server asked us if we require utensils? Sat down food came out in about 15 minutes, no drinks water etc. Asked an employee about the drinks and she said you must pick them up in the bar? So my beer was on the bar for about ten minutes waiting for me to pick it up. Employee up front should have told us ? Ordered fried pickles; however, she advised they don't have any. Went with the rings and a burger, not bad and fries were decent. Shrimp tacos ok but came with fries. Onion rings were not fresh, lots of breading little onion.I tipped 20% out of habit but there was no service to speak of. This place has great potential but they haven't nailed it yet. This was our second visit to Camp Briteside and a second disappointment. The food was meh, our poor server was so overworked I wanted to get up and help her. It took almost an hour to get our food and we had a 2 and 4 year old with us. The atmosphere is great and outside play is helpful when you have to wait that long. But there's not enough things for the kids to actually do for it to last too long. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and did not like them at all. We wanted lemonade for the kids and they were out of it. This was at 5:30! My burger was okay, didn't like the fries at all. I hope they can expand the menu a bit and improve service because this was a place I was rooting for. Sigh read more

We went last night(Friday) for the first time. When we pulled up the parking lot was full so we expected a wait which was fine since you can get drinks outside while you wait and the kids can play. The problem was after we sat. It took forever to get our drinks, our appetizers and dinner. Finally, after waiting for over an hour for our dinner we asked to take them to go since our kids were all losing their minds. The food we did get to eat there was served cold so it had been sitting around and our beers were warm. Not sure we will ever go back for dinner but maybe for the live music and to let the kids run for a bit. read more

We were regulars at Camp Briteside enjoyed taking the grandkids here and letting them play outside while we had drinks and food as well as large group gatherings from the neighborhood (we live a mile from the restaurant- super convenient). Restaurant apparently did a "revision" as it was closed last week of June 2025. Tonight- July 11 2025- was our first visit to "Briteside 2.0". first change: Upon arrival you are now expected to stand at the front counter, make your food selections and pre-pay. Obvious to me the reason is to cut staff costs by not having servers waiting tables. When I see cost cutting measures at restaurants red flags start popping up in my mind. I had a feeling this was a harbinger of other "cost saving" measures we were about to experience and I wasn't wrong. I went to the bar and ordered our usual drinks. The drink glasses ($11 drinks) were so overpacked with ice that there was hardly any liquid in them. My wife took them back to the female bartender and was told "that was a full drink when I made it." Three sips through the straw and they were GONE. Cost cutting action #2: cutting drink volume and hoping that customers who remembered Briteside drinks 1.0 won't notice. Food arrived. My burger was so salty and greasy that I couldnt eat half of it. Remember- no servers now so no one to come check if you are happy with the food and I wasnt about to go hunting for someone to complain to. No manager taking up the slack and circulating to tables for quality control/customer satisfaction. Still full restaurant prices here. My wife got the fried chicken. Dry mashed potatoes and green beans so undercooked they were uneatable. We both looked at each other and agreed- this was our last visit to Camp Briteside. Sadly we will take other friends with us in the neighborhood when we tell them about this experience. All I can say to ownership of this restaurant is; if it aint broke don't fix it. read more

We had our neighborhood ladies lunch here and the food and the service was amazing! Everyone enjoyed their lunch and I had the salmon; so good! I had enough for another meal. The waitress was wonderful; there were 25 of us and one waitress. She remembered everyone's order and drink orders as well. Bright environment, clean, parking was plentiful. The restaurant was full. Just went to the "revised" Camp Briteside (July 11) a favorite ( no more) restaurant near our Georgetown neighborhood. What a disappointment. Menu changes , food not up to previous standards, burger so salty it was hard to eat. Green beans so undercooked I couldn't eat them. Dry dense mashed potatoes...Drinks filled to brim with ice took two sips and it was almost gone for $11. Took to bar thinking bartender would do something but I guess she doubled down and said it was made as usual. Manager I voiced my disappointment to (about menu items I loved are now gone) said the changes are meant to streamline service but we never felt service was lacking before. Our experience tonight seems to scream cutting corners to save $$. AND no servers!!! What? To pay the prices they charge and have to go order yourself now as you enter , get your own bar drinks, waters etc... not something we want when going out!
