This is going to be a very honest review. From the moment you walk in, it has a stench that kind of set me on the wrong foot from the jump, but I still wanted to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt. As we were walking to our table, my feet were slipping as if there was grease on the floor in the front of the restaurant as well. It kind of made me feel like I was at a Jack in the Box at 2 AM. Our server was very kind and attentive; however, the place overall did not look very well kept together or clean. I would say, on a cleanliness scale, it was a 3 out of 10. I don't recommend this place. The food was truly not that good for the price at all. I ordered four dishes and four drinks, and my total was $77.33, not including a tip. My husband and I both agreed that if we would've gone to Panda Express, we would've enjoyed it more for half the price. If you would like to sit down and enjoy Chinese food in a restaurant, as this one is advertising, I'd highly recommend going to Hunan Lion in Round Rock, Texas. We recently moved from Round Rock to Jarrell, so we were trying to stay closer to home, but never again will I eat here. Food has always been so good here. I haven't eaten in. I've Always ordered and picked up. It's always ready on time and fresh.

This week I stopped by Shanghai Express for lunch. It is consistently good, and one of my favorite Chinese places in Georgetown. I got the Peking Seafood Combination lunch special. It was not my favorite. It has a brown sauce that I am not partial to. Next time I will stick with my favorite Rainbow Shrimp dish. That being said;, my fried rice, egg roll, and egg drop soup was good. The service was fabulous, as always. Yesterday, I witnessed one of her owners run out to the parking lot to take a purse to a customer who left it behind. They are always extremely courteous and friendly, and that is what continues to bring me back again and again. read more

We have been loyal to this once great place. We order to go. We ordered shredded pork Peking style. It was wonderful the last time we ordered it. BUT THIS TIME... mostly onions and pork not shredded. TL;DR: Americanized Chinese food, decent all around (taste-value). Will definitely stop by again for Chinese next time. We ordered takeout from Shanghai Express for dinner. I ordered sesame chicken with white rice and a few egg rolls. My wife also ordered a chicken dish but hers wasn't battered (can't recall which dish). The food overall was decent as expected, it's American Chinese food, which is what we wanted. Our dishes were both very saucy although since my chicken was battered, it absorbed the sauce. It's not necessarily a bad thing but unnecessary. My chicken got soggy from the amount of sauce. The egg rolls were a little small but tasted fine; at $2 per egg roll they're a little expensive for what you get. Couldn't see the dining area from takeout pick up so no opinions on that and the counter person seemed nice from our very brief interaction. read more

Food sucks had ordered an egg drop soup and I received a soup without any eggs and cold. I then ordered the general TSO chicken with pork fried rice and received cold food again, also the rice didn't have pork. I then heard a customer next to me complaining about a wonton soup not having wontons in his soup. The owner should eat the food himself but I thought that he doesn't care so much about his restaurant. Everyone works hard for their money and so should he and his chefs. He's waitress was great but your food sucks. This is my first time giving a bad review since I've been in Georgetown Texas. Hope the owner starts to be a real owner and chefs like he first was. This place was such a disappointment!!! I ordered Chicken Egg Foo Young and got vegetable with nothing but alot of mushrooms which I hate. The gravy had the meat in it. I started with the hot and sour soup which was ok, and I was fine with the eggroll ( no dipping sauce, I think you have to ask for it ) and fried rice, kinda plain like school food, ok you can eat it. Now the orange chicken showed up, I should have taken a photo, it looked more like chicken nuggets in motor oil... The sauce should have been orange, or even orangish, but no this was nas car looking motor oil, not very orange to the taste and was spicy, I had half the plate and said you may pay for this later and stopped eating it. Just really poor quality Chinese food. If this place was inspiring in its early years, that's long gone. Every dish came with the same salty unappetizing brown sauce. The Lo Mein, the Happy Family, the Kung Pao chicken were all over cooked like they'd spent too long in a steam table. If you want uncle bens rice and expired crab Rangoon, this is the place to be. The rice is NOT authentic at all- has no flavor. The crab Rangoon tasted like old cream cheese, as though it's curdled and expired. The tofu has no flavor. Yikes. Customer service is 2/10. read more

Update: 03/05/24 I came in today to try and grab a quick drink I only had 15 minutes. I was informed that I can't just buy a drink because they are a restaurant and they can't serve just a beer. As nicely as this was put I was bumped out because no other restaurant has ever done that. They appreciate the sale. I will try one last time soon. If I continue to have problems I don't see myself coming back or recommending anyone else go as well. Never disappoints! Rich tasty sauces and fresh crispy veggies. We pick up from there and bring it home about once a month and it's always consistently good. We came to eat dinner here last night, and everything was perfect! We actually ended up ordering a second order of crab rangoons because they were so good! For our main entrees, we got the sesame chicken and the sweet and sour chicken. They were both perfectly cooked. We also ordered an eggroll that was nice and crispy. I had heard good things on social media about this restaurant so I decided to give it a try. They offer take out and dine in, but no delivery, which was fine since I live relatively close. I called in a takeout order and they quoted 10-15 minutes. When I arrived about 17 minutes later it was waiting for me ready to go and piping hot! I ordered the egg drop soup, crab rangoons, and chicken broccoli entree. The egg drop soup seemed fresh, but it was very bland. It needed more flavor! The crab rangoons were the best part of the meal and were very tasty. The chicken and broccoli had a strange taste to the sauce. I assumed it was just me who didn't like it so I gave it to my mom, but she didn't like it either. The portion size was great. One entree could have lasted me 2-3 meals.
