Great service and delicious food. We've only been a few times at this point, but I did want to share a few thoughts. First, the service is great. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with the customary "Irasshaimase" (いらっしゃいませ). That was a blast from the past! The waiter immediately seated us and was attentive throughout the meal. When it became a little busier, his visits were a little more sparse, but he was always available with a wave of a hand. When I asked if they had Chilean sea bass, by chance, he said no and apologized. Then he went on to say that if we call in a week in advance, they could order some and prepare it for us. How cool is that? It isn't the only place I've had that offered, but it certainly is extremely rare and a good sign that they have a good relationship with their fishmongers. On both occasions, we were a bit flustered after being out all day doing errands and stuff. We were voracious but also a bit exhausted. LOL. So we opted to be measured and order just a few rolls between the two of us. While I don't remember the names of the rolls we tried on either occasion, I can say that they were delicious both times. One thing to note is that their rolls are a little rice-heavy. Not a problem if you're used to it. But it is a concern if you want a bit more protein, as you'll fill up faster! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wasabi looks and feels like a typical sushi joint.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]All in all, it is a great experience. Their menu has a nice selection and is a bit more quaint, and offers a quieter experience[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My overall experience was good but wasn't bad but just in the middle. Not the best sushi I've had but also not the worst, a few pros and cons. Cons: The rice is missing more vinegar, the rice is slightly hard in some grains and it's lacking flavor. It's decent sushi rice but to me it doesn't taste like sushi rice. The 3 rolls I ordered were smaller than I expected maybe because I've gone to soo many sushi restaurants and expected middle sized rolls with more avocado and imitation crab in the center. The salmon is very orange for some odd reason. Love the baked volcano roll, creamy at the end, warmer baked imitation on top. Pros: The fish is fresh, you can see the avocado, the white fish, the salmon, the tuna, and I will say the fish is fresh. If your that type of person that is going for quantity over quality, it's not that bad of an experience. To pay $17 for a buy one get one free, that is it's only saving grace. If it wasn't buy one get one free, the value to dollar would be off but luckily they offer that promo. So when I look at the price to value to quality and quantity, it's just in the middle. Not bad. If I could give the place no stars I would. The price vs portion size is way off. You pay a lot for a little. To top it off, the fried rice was overcooked and horrible, the sesame chicken will leave a bad taste in your mouth, and the egg rolls have a weird texture with mystery meat in them. The scallops were on the smaller side (about quarter-sized and thin), and overall, the entrée felt like it might have been prepped in advance rather than cooked fresh to order. The onion soup was a simple chicken broth, which was comforting but not distinctly Japanese. Prices are a bit on the higher side for the quality and authenticity delivered. If you're craving solid Chinese takeout flavors in a sit-down setting, I'd come back for that--but I'd probably skip it if I'm specifically in the mood for Japanese cuisine. Ordered 2 orders of wasabi fried wings and a sushi roll. Cost me 50 bucks and I was still hungry. Called the restaurant thinking that dasher must've stolen an order of wings from me. The employee there told me it's 4 wing sections for 14 dollars so I paid 30 bucks for an 8 piece wing and 20 for 10 bites of sushi. The menu didn't have wings portion listed so I gambled and that parts on me cuz I could've called. Full disclosure my food was delicious, hence me giving 3 stars even tho I'm disappointed. If value is of any concern I'd advise another restaurant. If you can afford to spend over 50 bucks for tasty bites this may be a favorite of yours. read more

This place wasn't bad if you're in a pinch and really want some hibachi food. It's okay. I feel like the portions are smaller than what they should be. I got the hibachi steak dinner to go and it came with two cups of rice, soup, and steak and veggies. But there wasn't that much steak. You could count how many there were at a glance. It never fails! Wasabi's sushi is always so fresh! I come here about twice a month and you can always count on the freshness. Tonight I ordered their fried veggie rolls for the first time and they are to die for! Each order comes with three egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce. The rolls came out so crispy and hot! (Be careful though because they do come out pretty hot and can burn your tongue if you bite into them to quickly). Also note their is a bit of a spicy kick to them as well so if you are adverse to any spice these may not be the rolls for you. I personally love a little spice to my food so my palate was very happy! I also ordered the Dancing Salman roll, the Philly roll as well Salman and tuna sushi. All around delightful! Additionally, the staff is very friendly, humorous and make you feel so welcomed. I have sparked up multiple conversations with members of their team and they put a smile on my face. This is an amazing little gem in Georgetown. I come here at least a couple times a year although I wish I came more often! The sushi is always fresh and full of flavor. The Rocky Roll I figured would be slightly larger given it was almost $14. To say the least- and I mean LEAST- 5 regular (not tiny-but definitely not substantial) BITES! Needless to say I won't be ordering take out from there. In the past I have dined in and the servings are much larger. For $14I should feel like I got more than an appetizer (it was not on the appetizer menu mind you)! Sadly disappointed. Management changed a few years ago and this is only our second visit because we were disappointed the first time we went there after management changed. OK, they just haven't updated the website. But after we finish, good meal, and get our check and the price is $10.99 each plus an additional $2 for the shrimp...NOWHERE on the menu did it say that there was an additional charge and the waiter did not inform us of this either. We came in right before closing... About 45 minutes till. And they seated us and fed us, but I'm not sure how much that had to do with how the food was. I was there with my brother, he wanted to steak hibachi, the rice on the side was over cooked and devoid of flavor. And some of the steak was a little tough, but most of it was tasty and he said he enjoyed the habachi part with the sauce and the veggies. He had the onion soup and enjoyed it very much, and we both shared the tempura plate with shrimp and vegetables... That was tasty. However, the breading was a little thick. I had ordered sashimi, the out-of-control roll, and he had ordered a tuna roll. They were all served together. It was very beautiful. My food was delicious... Other than the thick bread on the tempura. However, the tea, they really need to clean out the tubes that they serve it with because you could taste of film of mold underneath the tea flavor. I haven't been here in a few years but had lunch today. The service was very good and so was the food. I ordered the General Tso chicken, extra spicy my friend had the chicken with snow peas lunch special. Lunch came with soup. This was the best tasting hot and sour soup I have tasted in quite some time, however I asked for chili oil and added a teaspoon, just right. The fried rice looked like it was going to be a disappointment as it was lacking in peas and carrots, however the fried taste came through. This is a good lunch stop! read more

My sis said she recommends Wasabi for the sushi. Little did I know there was more. The fried rice was exactly what I'd want when I order fried rice. Not your average mediocre style Chinese fried rice, but done right. They got the basics down. Same with the chicken lo mein, they didn't take it's name in vain: however, I did pour some soy sauce on top and mixed in for added saltiness. Next we had our sushi. The Yummy Yummy Roll you can taste the savory avocado melt in your mouth between "spicy" mayo. The cream cheese inside the Crazy Roll is predominant, so delicious, also having "spicy" mayo mix your taste buds to perfection. Now here's the thing. It says that these rolls are spicy, but they were not spicy, and if they are I don't recall a minimal spice. The wasabi was the only spicy on the dish, and I use spicy loosely. I'd give it a 5 star casual dine-in, however I think the menu there should be spice levels regarding the sushi so I have to give it 4 stars. But value, it's excellent for 3 people. 1 egg drop soup, 2 sushi rolls, 3 plates of sides with meats $70 pre tip. The staff was friendly, genuine smiles all around. I'm definitely coming again. There was only two dishes we ordered that was worth the price. The rest of them were below par of expectation in flavor and being edible. The sweet and sour chicken along with the children's chicken nuggets were burnt. The tuna was inedible. The Rocky road, the California roll and Avocado salad were delicious but short the amount of pieces while we paid for the full 8 pieces. The avocado salad looked like it was made for a child served in what looked like an ice cream dish. I will say the service was excellent, attentive and on point. This was the saving grace of the restaurant. The ambiance was lackluster, chips in the walls, dusty and the basic design. We will not return nor suggest this place. read more

I came here six months ago and left unhappy i ordered a dish that I was unaware was on the menu twice. Regular and further down the menu spicy. The waitress brought me the spicy and I can't handle hot food. She then pointed out that it's on the menu twice as if it was my fault. As he proceeded, set empty tables and clean up the tables where other customers had left. Then he went to the back and disappeared, and I finally got up and grabbed the picture and filled my own glass. The plate I ordered was $15.45 and it had way less food tha my daughter's lunch special plate which was $10.45 and came with a soup. For $15.45. I would expect to at least get full but I could have easily eaten two, possibly even three of those portions. On top of that, my food was not very good as it tasted very fishy. When I went to pay, the waiter apologized, as he explained that the manager had to leave, so it was just him. Okay. I understand that you are just one person, but the restaurant was not very busy and how about taking care of your customers first instead of setting all these empty tables and cleaning off the ones where customers had left? I understand that these things need to be done, but he could have at least looked our way and asked if we needed anything any one of the fifteen times he was walked back and forth gathering silverware and menus or taking dirty dishes to the back. We used to love Wasabi and after it sold , we didn't return until today. We were hopeful it was good but alas, the sushi was disappointing. The big flavors are no more. It was bland and not fresh. They no longer serve the signature egg soup we loved. The pot stickers were horrid. Our tea was sour and the water tasted dusty. No bottled water was available.
