My husband and I ate at the poke works in Georgetown yesterday and didn't have a great experience. I ordered the Dynamite Lobster Poke Bomb, the California bomb. It was terrible. The outside was cold and the texture was comparable to a cold wet scrotum, truly. I don't mean it disrespectful but it was genuinely slimy and cold a the texture was terrible. The lobster tasted old and couldn't eat it. I didn't even try to eat the California bomb because I didn't trust to eat it without getting sick. I am extremely concerned that they are not following health code standards because a female employee who was working when I ordered . I had to ask her to stop touching my order. While I waited my turn, which also took a long time, I watched her eating behind the counter with gloves on. After taking a bite or 2, she placed her food directly on a counter top and turned around and started to touch my food and other items on the cold bar without changing her gloves. I had to knock on the glass to get her attention after trying to politely get her attention. She laughed it off like she was so confused. I even said its not a big deal. Just change your gloves first. This is a health code violation all day. The younger male apologized but by then it was too late. No one corrected her. It seems like it happens often and no one says anything, no one even looked sideways at her. read more

Stopped in for a togo poke bowl and they did not disappoint! Establishment was clean. Staff friendly and ready to help. Options and quality of fish 5/5. Plenty of toppings and add ins as well as protein options - including a tofu option for those who don't east fish and a chicken option as well. I loaded up with tuna,spicy tuna and shrimp with almost all of the toppings, Siracha aioli and ponzu as well as some crunchy oil, onions and garlic. Got the two protein poke bowl that I custom ordered to include salmon, tuna, half brown rice and half kale noodles with all the toppings minus a few. Got the ponzu sauce which is traditionally soy sauce mixed with dashi broth and yuzu/citrus. Their ponzu sauce however did not taste like that at all. While all the ingredients taste fresh and good quality, one star docked for the sauce as it made everything taste salty but with no flavor. read more

This place came up on my 'new and hot' list of restaurants in the area when I was looking for some good eats, so I figured I'd give it a try (and I am so glad that I did). What I got; Poke Bowl - Large (3 Proteins) $18.00 I love a good Poke Bowl, as they are highly customizable, (the main ingredients are vegetables and fish -- two generally nutritious foods). Some of the most common vegetables used in Poke are avocado, garlic, onion, and carrots, which are full of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants, all of which support your overall health. In my bowl, I added tuna, salmon and shrimp because, why not? The amount of meat for this dish was impressive and filling. I requested the meat be a little cooked/torched to give it a little some in' some in'. I also added: Cucumber, Sweet Onion, Cilantro, Serrano Peppers, Spicy Serrano Aioli, Avocado, Green Onion, Pickled Ginger, Wasabi, and Thai Chili. The addition of the spices totally kicked this bowl into overdrive adding to the meat and greens of this menu item. First time trying this place. It's well lit, and set up cafeteria style. You tell them what you want, and they put your bowl together. The proteins were super fresh, and I loved all of the combo options. They make their own beverages in house. The cherry limeade was delicious- just the right amount of sweet and tart. The strawberry lemonade was super sweet; I was not a fan. They were out of black tea, and my friend said their green tea was just okay. (It's close to the gym) There is not a word that carries enough praise to represent this staff. Everyone is so friendly, professional, and patient. The store is always incredibly clean, which directly reflects the most important part, the food. Like others, sushi is one of my favorite foods, but it's not in my wallets best interest. When I describe it to people it's "imagine 3 sushi rolls smashed into a bowl for the price of 1". Healthy, quick, affordable, DANK. What more could I ask for ? Stopped in here for a late lunch on a weekday. This is a great addition to Georgetown's variety of food offerings. I went with a build your own, although they did have some curated bowls available as well. It seems like they are still getting their feet underneath them, training new folks, and finding their groove but the staff was all very friendly. They have a plethora of options for mix-ins and toppings. They offer poke burritos, nachos, and some sides as well. The space is light, inviting, and modern. There are tables inside and the location is convenient for to-go orders as well (right off 35). The shopping center that it's located in can get pretty congested during the lunch rush, has limited parking, and isn't the easiest to get in and out of although that's pretty typical for this area of Georgetown. read more

New Poke place in Georgetown which I will say is serviceable. There are a decent amount of options of proteins, sauces, vegetables, and toppings. The portion size is adequate if not slightly on the smaller side. There are also pre made bowl options which is probably a nice touch for those new to poke. The pre marinated proteins like the spicy tuna and salmon looked a little pasty so I would possibly stay away from those personally. Also tried the garlic spam musubi and it was average at best and probably would not order that again. The things I liked are that they mix the proteins and veggies up in a separate bowl with the sauce of your choice which is kinda nice. Everything also looks pretty fresh for the most part. If I'm in the area and looking for somewhere to eat I wouldn't be opposed to eating here again, but I probably would not go out of my way to come eat here. If Poke House in Round Rock didn't go way downhill it would be a much better option, but they are not what they used to be putting these about even. read more

So after much anticipation I finally was able to try Poke Works. Being from California we truly love Poke and there were places everywhere to get it. I will start off by saying the food itself was good. No real complaints there. However the prices for the portions you get deserve a 1 star rating itself. I ordered the large build your own which was around 16 or so with avocado added. The bowl and scoop portions are ridiculously small and stingy. For a large bowl and similar price at every other poke place I have eaten at would have been double in size. This was very disappointing. I hope they figure this out and up the size and portions or lower their pricing. read more

Pokéworks reached out to me via email and made things right with a voucher for a free entree. Good customer service rep, listen to my complaints and tried to make it right. I returned today to give them another try and the rice was much better, it wasn't dry or crunchy at all, it was a little over cooked on the verge of mushy, but I don't want to seem too picky. I'd rather have this rice than what I got the first 2 times. I think 3 stars is fair given what I shared in my original review. I'm glad I came back and Pokéworks making it right.
