I drove 25 minutes (almost 1 hour round trip) to pick up a Father's Day to-go order from Catfish Parlour. The food was really good, but they forgot two sides, including one that was part of my dad's Father's Day meal which was disappointing after the drive. I called and requested a refund for the missing items. Later, someone from the restaurant called me back, but I missed it. When I returned the missed call, I was transferred to the owner, who said, "You're calling me about coleslaw? I don't know anything about that and I'm really busy today, it's Father's Day." What made this especially disappointing is that I was simply returning their missed call... When he pulled up my order, he dismissed the issue with, "Oh, these were just entree sides." He offered a gift card, but I requested a refund for the items instead since I'm unsure I'll be making the far drive again in the future. The conversation ended with him telling me he had a line of people waiting. Mistakes happen and missing items can be fixed. But now, ever since things that have occurred, like COVID, and than the reopening of the restaurants, the size of the food was abundant, now they have seriously become smaller, and the prices continue to rise , the quality of food is good, but the catfish filets have shrunk, I ordered the Big Cat dish, which used be just that, Big fish filet pieces, now they are the size of kid meals pieces, the word BIG did not match the meal with the current price. Friday is for catfish! You had me at buffet! Went here with a friend and our wait time was less than 10 minutes. Our waitress Theresa was great! She was so friendly and welcoming. She also made sure our food was correct. We got the buffet that came with three sides. I ordered fried green tomatoes for my appetizer. They came with a sauce on top. They were a good size. The fried green tomatoes needed a little more seasoning. My string beans were a little sweet but still tasty. The pinto beans were flavorful and I can see myself getting them again. Got the All American which comes with 4 fillets. It must have been an awfully small catfish. I got three sides which are super small as well. Lunch is the best option as when you get a dinner to go you get screwed over big time. Won't be back again for a to go dinner order, but might do another lunch as you get more food !!!! read more

Catfish Parlor in Georgetown is outstanding from start to finish. I started with the gumbo soup with sausage--rich, hearty, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of spice. For the main course, I had fried catfish, jumbo shrimp, and fried okra. Every bite was crisp, hot, and perfectly seasoned. The seafood tasted fresh, the breading light and golden, and the okra was some of the best I've ever had. Service was fast and friendly, the portions generous, and the atmosphere warm and down-home. I like the feel here but admittedly the decor feels a little dated. The service is really fast and friendly though. Nice people and the menu is straight forward. My grilled shrimp was great. And my catfish WOULD have been great but I ordered the spicy. Now I like a spicy batter but it seems it's a regular fish filet with an abundance of spicy dry seasoning shaken on top afterwards. I guess that could work but it made the fish taste super salty in my opinion and over powered the dish. My wife got the burger as it was on a special, she felt the same way about the grilled onions on the burger. The base product seemed great but the onions were cooked down in a very strong sauce and there was a lot. She scraped most of it off and the burger was fine. One thing that is an absolute delight here.... The free hush puppies they bring out and you can't leave without trying their jalapeño tartar sauce! Excellent. 3.5 if I could give half stars. Might be better off offering the "spicy" seasoning in a shaker on the table rather than piling it on in the kitchen. That alone could've made the difference in three and four stars for me. read more

I went to the Georgetown Catfish Parlour recently for the first time. The cashier on the way out gave me a business card and on the back wrote 'Free App/Dessert' for the next time I come in. Last week I stopped by and had a meal. I showed the server the card with the note. She said to show it to the cashier when I pay. I ordered a cheesecake to go. When I went to pay I was attended to by a man who informed me since I selected the Wednesday special he could not honor the free dessert. I feel I should have been told this sooner. Had I known this I would not have ordered the dessert. I sent the owner 2 emails and left a voicemail. No response. My bf and I decided to make the drive up to Georgetown to try out their Catfish Parlour location after the Central Austin location closed last year. He has had their food several times (and raves about it) so I was interested in seeing what the hype was about. I am not a huge catfish person, but do appreciate good fried fish every once in a while. I ordered the All American Plate (spicy seasoning) and he ordered the 2 Pounds and Pups combo to have leftovers for days (that's how much he loves their food!). One thing he appreciates is their ability to swap in gluten free batter (and the hush puppies are gluten free too to my understanding) I thought the catfish was excellent- not too greasy, perfectly seasoned and the meat flaky and tender. The jalapeño slaw was very tasty and my gosh, I think hush puppies are my new favorite thing! We took our meal to go since they were closing, but the ambiance seemed like a warm and inviting restaurant and I'm looking forward to eating there in person one of these days. We waited a long time for our food and on top of that not once have we been asked for refills or anything else we needed. If I am right with my observation, it looks like the ownership might have changed and this place is running on money profit line and the food just sucks! Im never disappointed, to revisit, try again and again, always with the same experience, crispy fresh catfish, I wouldn't change it if I could. Not one bit! But let's talk hushpuppies. When you're seated, you'll be greeted with a bowl of hushpuppies that cannot be imitated. Ive tried the copycat recipes... nope! Ive tried hushpuppies from here to California, all good, but none as great as Catfish Parlor. These hushpuppies are the length and width of a finger, soft inside, crispy outside... and that tartar sauce! Just dip and eat. Try to control yourself because the best catfish you ever had is on its way! I personally love their jalapeno tartar sauce. The catfish is good and as crispy as it can be without drying out the tender fillet in every bite. Hubby was excited about his Texas size shrimp. Yes that too was perfect! This location has always been more consistent cleaner and has an amazing staff . I don't even live in Georgetown but I always make the drive because we love this place so much . The fish is fresh and clean tasting the sides are very generous and there is something for everyone even those who don't care for fish such as grilled chicken country fried chicken or burgers and for the kids who aren't fish fans they have grilled cheese mini corn dogs and cheeseburgers aside from the popcorn shrimp . I make the drive at least once or twice a month from Lakeline area and we are never disappointed. They have a relaxed ambience good beer and wine and mixed drinks if you're into that and some fun decor to keep you occupied while you wait for your food . The staff is very friendly super helpful and treats you like family . We love what my four year old calls "Fishy Parlor" and hope you give it a try when you're craving some delicious catfish or some good ol jumbo fried shrimp and southern hospitality in one of the nicest towns in Texas ! read more

What a huge let down -- the DRIEST THINNEST catfish fillets I've ever experienced. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was like eating dry fish jerky, no catfish flavor at all. The sides were also somehow completely dry and cold, all 4 of the sides tasted like they had been sitting for 2 hours before served. Our server, Maddie, didn't come back to check if we wanted more fish, our drinks needed to be refilled etc. Maddie seemed to pay attention to the other tables she was serving, but not ours. We spent $90+ dollars on food that was subpar with horrible service. We have eaten here before and after today's visit we won't be back. The sides we selected were fried okra, hush puppies, cabbage and rice: The okra was good, hard to mess up however could have used a little salt. 4/5 Hush puppies were in the shape of a finger, different, but they were good 4/5 The rice quite possibly was the best thing I had. 5/5 Fish was great as to be expected 5/5 Shrimp were okay 4/5 Cabbage: couldn't tell you. The fish was great however it says it feeds 6 people and only came with 6 pieces. I suppose it's because we ordered the shrimp as well... we opted for half spicy and half not spicy shrimp as we had children that were eating. The shrimp was all thrown together and we were unable to establish which were spicy VS not . The cabbage had bacon in it which was not disclosed on the website and quite the bummer as we don't eat pork. The jalapeño ranch was DELICIOUS ! Worst restaurant experience in many years. I'm hard of hearing and wear hearing aids. Walked in the door and a gal is hollering "Go sit over there! Go sit over there!" Instead of walking us to a table. We get seated, I order a chicken fried steak, fries and cole slaw. We were advised by the server 'The sides are limitless', then she pointed at the salad bar. I didn't see any French fries on the salad bar, so I just got some tomatoes and some slaw. Wife ordered gumbo. The gumbo was stale and she said it tasted funky. I got a slab of fried chicken, which I didn't want. We ordered margaritas, and they even sucked. Server did go out of her way to order a CFS for me and have it ready to go, but that's kinda after the fact. Then I find out the limitless fries, hush puppies and okra are under heat lamps by the kitchen, no where near the salad bar. Overall, the food was fair to medium. Overall, terrible experience and I won't be back. I drove over from Austin, and got a sucky meal I didn't want, a crappy drink I didn't finish, and dropped $50 at a restaurant I'll never visit again.
