Lol. Do I even need to explain? This is a poor excuse for a business. Our modem is pretty old, it literally died and when we called them, they said, "oh. I see you have an older modem. Looks like it's not going to work anymore. Bring it to the store and we will get you another one." They can't reach out to their customers and let them know BEFORE this happens. I work from home, I wasn't able to complete my work day. I did go and exchange the modem, they weren't able to get it working and said since it's a holiday weekend, there is no one else available to assist us. When I explained to the customer service woman that I work from home, she replied, "honey so do I. It's not that big of a deal." However, I am a provider, not a customer service rep. There is sort of a difference. Fast toward, it's still not working and they have no idea when they will be able to help us. It's pretty pathetic in my opinion. I was very fortunate to have such excellent customer service at this store when asking about my plan and Darius was very thorough explaining everything to me in a way that made sense and even told me about the new camera services that are coming soon. It doesn't apply to me but i appreciated the time he took to explain it anyway. on a side note, Not sure why some people have to act like Karens and blame the store sales people when they have no control of what was already established but im glad i have a good store that listens and cares about my service :) Make sure to ask for Darius for all your service needs because he was excellent and represented the business perfectly read more

Today when I went to pay my monthly pound of flesh to Cox, I had a concern about the lack of interest for panting customers by the over eager commission driven employees perching by the front door. As soon as I make it clear that I am there to pay a bill, the 8, count 'em 8 salespeople relax, step back and ignore me, going back to their loud boisterous conversation. At this location, customers are told to use one of two kiosks to pay their bill as I've done the last few months. One of the two was being used by an elderly gentleman who was painstakingly entering his information. The other was "being updated @ and therefore out of order. So I waited while listening to 7 employees laughing and joking. One customer was being helped by the remaining visible employee. Another customer came in, experienced the same used car sales approach with an almost audible sigh when he came over to the kiosk. Absolutely no interest in the customers who are paying their bill which essentially pays these so called workers. He grunted when he saw the out of order sign and waited behind me. The older man was still on the same screen, redoing his entry when I felt the need to approach the group of workers stating that their business model was ridiculous. All of them chatting and ignoring people needing customer service. One offered to help and did so with a tight lipped face ( I'm Sure mine was also ) and finished the transaction. I just dont understand how often people don't seem to care about doing a good job. My experience today was not unique except for the broken kiosk. It's a shame that companies don't train their employees or at least designate a couple to handle non commission earning interactions. After all our payment supports their commission salaries. I try to avoid going to this Cox Communication Store due to the lack of customer service however a few months back I experienced multiple online payment issues due to Chase Bank and Cox ending their payment arrangement. A corporate decision that resulted in lost payments, stopped checks, late fees etc... I was able to resolve it after many frustrating attempts and finally had a qualified manager handle it . read more

COX has a monopoly in the industry and will destroy your credit over their own billing errors and then lie to you about the nature of the charges so you will pay the fraudulent bill and they won't get caught for their illegal practices. Their executive escalations team lied for several months regarding the nature of charges on a bill I disputed and even admitted to lying after I was able to show proof. Unfortunately you are stuck using their services for basic services, but BEWARE and monitor their unethical billing practices so you are not a victim. read more

I have the absolute best experience every time i come here. I have to come about every 2 years to get a new promo to get my bill down and they are always extremely helpful. I have never once had an issue and I'm thankful they are always so nice. I have successfully gotten my bill down every 2 years when the promos run out, which is awesome. Cox cable store needs to open in every city and re-train all staff. Waiting 45min just to trade in a box. This is the new norm? Get rid of the couches and put in chairs. This seems like the DMV or any other state runned company. Cox has the money to put 10 stores in each city, fix it. The peopke are right cox is wrong. We are at the store for that long and have no restrooms or water. Not worth it at all. In six months I'm changing to another company. A people friendly pkace. Stopped by the Cox store in Santee today -- needed to turn in my old digital channel box for a new Contour system. It was more crowded than last time I visited, but I was signed in by the greeter and had to wait only about 10 minutes before I was called. I was helped by Jazmine, and the service she provided today was definitely 5 STARS. She checked through my account and discovered that I was due for a free upgrade from 150 Mbps internet to 300 Mbps -- WOW. Thank you Jazmine! Then she fixed me up with the Contour box for free for one year. Thanks again! Jazmine kept poking around in my account and found out that I was eligible for $6 off my HBO each month. FANTASTIC! Came in this past holiday weekend to return modem equipment. Store was empty and cox employee advised that people think their closed on holidays whixh isn't the ge case. Was in and out in less than 3 minutes which was awesome. Cox internet service was nothing short of amazing for the year that I hadd. I had a pod that was defective. After being on chat support for an hour, I was told I could take to the store for an exchange or a refund. At the store they told me I could only exchange. They said I needed the chat transcript that said I could refund and I could only request that over email. Over email I was told you can only get a chat transcript if you request it before the chat ends. I've been lied to every step of the way in trying to get a refund for my defective pod and I'm ready to completely switch services. I would have been ok with the bad hardware if I could just return it but Cox has made this process as painful as possible during a time when I already have a lot of other stress going on. Don't use this service if you can avoid it and definitely DON'T buy the extender pods. There are better 3rd party options on Amazon. read more

I showed up two minutes after they closed and all I wanted to do was get a new remote to watch the padres game. The two employees sat there and watched me stand there from inside the store. A common courtesy of an employee to let me know they were closed would have allowed him 2 seconds to get me a new remote. Instead they tried their hardest not to work. Bottom line - good service at this location. We were just not happy with our Cox Whole Home DVR system - some service problems may have been able to have been fixed by a service call. However, other issues were inherent in the system and unacceptable to us after having been long-time DIRECTV subscribers (Cox shows episode numbers instead of date first aired on DVR listings - very frustrating for us). I called Cox recently to inquire about cancellation of our TV portion of our bundle in spite of an early termination fee, having signed a 2-year contract about 6 months ago. The rep was really cool, gave a couple workaround ideas, and as a former DIRECTV employee, I think she knew where I was coming from. :) After deciding to go with DIRECTV and getting it installed, we called Cox to cancel. The rep I talked to was friendly and efficient and got the transaction handled quickly, and I even thanked her for not giving me crap about cancelling. Love the phone and internet, but not the TV... Yesterday went to the Santee store to return our DVRs. There was a guy at the front who welcomed us, put our name into the system, and took all of our boxes and gave us a slip with the serial #s for us to hand over to the rep. Nice to not have to sit around holding all the boxes. There's a monitor that shows your name so you have an idea how long you have to wait. We were maybe #4 in line and since there were quite a few employees working, I think we were up in about 5 minutes. The rep did ask why we were cancelling but didn't give us a difficult time. He handled the transaction quickly and pleasantly. I always dread cancelling services because of the pushback. Didn't have any problems this time around. And to be fair, there were a couple things we liked better about Cox's DVR - their Music Choice has a lot more features than DIRECTV's Sonic. And...all of the standard Cox remote with our system were backlit, which is REALLY nice. read more

Bad service I pay $500 a month for everything, I have gigablast for internet which we need since we have 3 gamers and I work from home, I got unlimited data it still slows down I do a daily speed test what a joke. I called tech support and they blame your computer, BRAND NEW COMPUTER. They make excuses why there stuff dont work they then send people out to fix it that have no idea what they are doing and try to talk you out of what you have because they cant fix it. Then they say its a distance problem put in wifi booster all over the house which costs tons of money, And a amplifier that if comes out of the wall none of your service works are tv connection goes in and out and internet does not work as promised its all lies to get you to pay more. read more

I recently switched providers and had to adjust some personal items (address and name spelling). When I did this, they re-wrote my contract unbeknownst to me to raise my price and rewrite my terms. I went back when I got my bill thinking it's be a simple adjustment and they were not helpful at all. They said there were "notes" that said I agreed to the higher price and worse terms, which makes no sense. My COX experience from a customer service standpoint at this store has been terrible. I will be cancelling my service within my 30 days because of this and do not recommend them. I even had the flyer with the correct pricing and the business card of the gentleman who came to my home and they still would not honor it. read more

So I walked into the COX store on Mission Gorge Santee to see if I could check on all the services I have on my COX account. Not expecting much would be a total understatement walking in. I self check in and wait like 1minute and the salesperson Calls me by name. I of course ask for her name, with a bright smile she replies Meli. I inquire about my account and to see if there was any chance that I could lower my monthly cable bill. Meli went right to work, she went and got the plan accounts pamphlet and asked which plans I use and don't use. With some work she was able to lower my cable bill. Meli also checked into some new promotions and was able to lower my bill even more!!! When Meli finished she had figured out a way to lower my cost all while not losing a single channel or service. COX communications you need to keep Meli. She was kind and enthusiastic about being able to help me and I'm sure she is this way with everyone she comes into contact with at work. While it took me close to an hour to cancel services over the phone (truly a nightmare) coming to the store to return equipment was a breeze! I had to google to find a location, I've never actually been to a Cox storefront before. I've used Cox services for practically my entire adult life, but they've mostly come to the house to do installations and I've never had to go to a store before. I cut the cable out years ago and I guess I must have sent the box back in the mail. I called and got rid of my last remaining service with them, internet. I just needed to return their modem. I found an amazingly inexpensive deal online and couldn't wait to ditch the overpriced Cox. We got to the store a few minutes before they opened and there was already a line outside. I was thinking this was going to take a while, but as soon as it hit 10:00 am they opened the doors and there were at least 7 employees just lined up grabbing customers one by one. It was so fast and efficient. I was out of there 3 minutes later! The guy that helped me was super nice and quick. He scanned the equipment, verified my name, had me sign a copy and gave me one to keep. I think Cox is still behind the times though. They need self service kiosks for people returning equipment to speed things up and make it easier and more convenient for customers. Otherwise I would've given them a five star review. Parking is plentiful in the shared lot. They are located right next to Sprouts. read more

My bill included $20 a month for HBO and Cinemax. In an attempt to get my bill down I told the representative to delete the Cinemax which would take my bill down to five dollars a month, but instead HBO got deleted by an incompetent representative. Just went in today to switch out my modem and I absolutely love this store! Customer service is always spectacular! Love that I can come in and speak to someone and leave having my problem resolved! The customer rep who helped me today, Jessie, even scheduled for a technician to call me and make sure that my internet was hooked up correctly. I didn't need the call since switching the modem fixed the issue but the professionalism, understanding, and deliverance of quality service really makes such a great experience! read more

This service is terrible. I have been a Cox customer for 33 years. This is the worse service, The internet is shorty at best, and when you call customer service they tell you that that's the best you can get. Trying to talk me into settling for shitty service is just unacceptable. Their customer service over phone is absolutely abysmal. They just treat existing loyal customers terribly. Once they have your money and they talk you into service don't expect much from any of their customer service. I couldn't even get a technician to come out and fix their own equipment. The technician literally spent 45 minutes of his time telling me how I should feel grateful because his Cox service is even worse than mine. He told me I pay for 150mb and I only get 36 on the speed test. So if you want to pay ridiculous prices and get really bad WiFi stick with Cox. They are stealing from us by promising good speeds and then you are serviced with awful internet. It's not even good enough for my daughter to do homework or take tests for school. So, I'm going to be totally honest...I hate coming to the Cox store. It's 30 miles from my house and there's always a bunch of people waiting. I had no choice but to go today since my I cable boxes were both delivered to me broken. I was on the phone with Cox for more than 3hrs total trying to resolve this and got no where. :( So, I walk into this store and it was amazing. The line went super fast. I was seen within 10 minutes and my solution specialist Sarah S was just AMAZING!!!! She resolved my issue within 5 minutes and had me out the door with a new box. I came to this Cox store to return the modem that the cable guy had left at my house for some reason. You see, I've been using my own cable modem for sometime with their ultimate internet package and never used their cheesy one that they left behind. However after going over my bill one day I noticed a modem rental fee charge which kinda pissed me off because I never asked for their crappy modem in the first place. The modems that Cox gives out are awful and have lots of problems. Much cheaper to go down to Costco and buy your own which usually ends up having less issues not to mention you don't have to shell out $10 a month to rent one. Anyways my experience at this Cox store was great, I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The woman who helped me with my issue was professional and apologized for the mis-understanding with my modem rental fee. She credited the money back to the account and took the modem back. They also gave me a receipt to prove they now had possession of it in case there was any more miscommunication with my account. Even though I've been using Cox for internet service for years, I've never had need to step foot in a store. I personally think cable TV is way too expensive so I've never tried it, but their internet service has always been great. read more

Is COX dropping channel changes and slowing down internet speeds for directvnow customer. READ BELOW I have been a cox customer for over 14 years. Sure I have had issues over that time but they were generally resolved. Then the prices started to go up and up and up, every year. I had as part of my $250 package the $89 internet which was unlimited when I signed the contract for service. The television has become less important as the children have grown and we don't spend much time inside anymore. So I decided to drop the TV packages and just keep my land line and internet. This happened in January 2017 and this is how Cox responded to that. I received no warning or update or any communication from cox, but read on social media that they had limited their internet downloads to 1TB a month. Then a couple of weeks later they said that my true old school landline had to go and the replacement digital phone would cost an additional $15 a month because now I need a router for my land line. If I didn't go with the digital phone I would loose my number, so really had no choice. So now when we get a power cut there is no landline anymore. So back to the 1TB limit. I check my January bill, before I ditched the TV and there is no sign of a 1TB limit anywhere on the invoice. Low and behold come February, new bill without the TV package, now has a line in the invoice showing 1TB limit. Now lets get to the internet speed and DirecTVNOW. So being a little ticked off with cox over the last 3 months I have been monitoring the bandwidth and internet connection speeds, packet drops, packet refusals and drop outs by COX server request (yes I'm a coder). I can't say I can prove it in a court of law, but there has been a 75% increase in dropped requests and a general slow down of about 33%. Terrible I hear you cry. WAIT! I did a little work with my next door neighbor who has the complete cox tv and internet package. I took my directvnow firestick over and it didn't drop a single channel change. When I try that using my internet it drops 90% of the time. Same equipment in both houses with no additional peripherals attached to the router in either case, just the firestick. SO IS COX SLOWING DOWN AND DROPPING CHANNEL CHANGE REQUESTS FOR DIRECTVNOW CUSTOMERS? From my experience and experiments that answer is a YES! Maybe I am getting old and this is how modern companies increase their revenue when faced with competition (DirectTV). In my day we would improve the service and increase customer communication to build customer loyalty, not hit every customer with an increase to make up for the short fall in revenue due to the company providing below par service, which has been the case with cox over the last few years. So if you want to make the switch to internet TV, my humble advice is not to use cox internet as your ISP. Go the whole way and dump all of cox and just go all in with AT&T (I know they have their issues too). COX and DIRECTVNOW not good bed fellows. read more

If I could rate a negative 5, I would. This is the worst internet service I have had since dial up. This post is not necessarily against the store, but the connection services itself. I joined not even 2 months ago, I constantly have to reset my modem/router.. constantly lose connection, lag during any show, movie or game. I have their second best plan, and I'll be lucky not having to restart through a movie. It is absolutely ridiculous. And I have all brand new items, so I know it's not because of my devices. They give no help whatsoever in regards to customer service. Do not get this company, buy whatever else is available even if it costs a little more, it will be worth it in a long run.. and I'm a person that never posts reviews, but this was much needed to warn others read more

So to Cox as a whole I would like to say their customer service via phone and employees that have been to sent to my house are absolutely out of the loop. My router stopped working for some reason so I had to have someone come and fix it because there was nothing more i could do. I messaged someone via their online messenger. The person i spoke to on the phone told me to get a specific router, which was wrong. I had an employee come to my house and told me i got the wrong router... so i went to this location asking for the specific router that he had suggested... They don't use that router anymore?! So now that I'm here i got a completely different router - the only one they offer apparently. The guy that helped me is the reason i am able to give a 3 star review. I genuinely feel that I should have given a two. He was helpful, his name is Miguel. Highly recommend if you plan to use this service the representatives may be misinformed or not be in the loop because i have basically been without internet for like a week because literally not the three people that were provided to me have given me completely different solutions. That were incorrect might i add. Hopefully now i have this 3RD router maybe I'll get to have my internet back. read more

Upon canceling their service and returning the equipment they failed to register the equipment into their system and have now passed their mistakes on to me as the consumer bullying me into $200 in equipment charges. This store is disorganized, rude, and not helpful at all. Having experienced the Cox customer service centers in both El Cajon (now closed) and off 54th, I can say that this place is such a HUGE breath of fresh air. It's like an Apple store - there are centers to meet your needs, and everyone is helpful. It's bright and airy, and there's a comfy couch and TV while you wait for your name to be called.
