I called the store as our internet router has been acting up. Can't remember his name, but the person who answered the phone answered my question right away and told me to stop by the store. Upon arrival with our current router, I was greeted right away by the same person who helped me over the phone. I expressed my issues and my router was swapped for a newer model with no questions asked and nothing owed. I was even to able to upgrade our internet speed for LESS than what we were already paying. Win win. Get home, got the new router installed, success! Everything has been solid since. I wouldn't hesitate to go into the store if needed. Great experience customer service wise. read more

I have found out that if you miss a payment for a couple days they suspend your acct. Like turn off your phone. I'm going to be returning to T-MOBILE because of their cutthroat business practice. Cox Cable is ridiculous. Price goes up every year. I was paying $99 a month then January 2024 it went up to $135 a month. Plus they charged me $100 to have guy come to my home to install smaller cable box just so I can lower the price down to $ 117 a month. Then I get an email saying that I must return the old cable box, and when I brought it to the store, they said that I didn't need to, so that was more wasted time. Every year I have to argue with them to get my cable bill down and I've been a customer for 13 years. But I guess I have no choice since I live in an area that only has Cox Cable. read more

Internet worked only sporadically. Cable TV worked only sporadically. Poor reception continued even after multiple visits from techs each month over the course of a year. Techs replaced EVERYTHING, including the wire from the pole to my home. Several Cox techs told me that my service would not improve until Cox replaced their main line as it was coming apart due to age and to squirrels, etc. nibbling on it. But Cox never followed up with its own techs' recommendations to replace their decrepit faulty line. I even contacted home office in Atlanta, GA without resolution. Instead, they added another monthly service charge to the bill because their equipment was so substandard that it needed frequent tech attention. Yet they continued to raise their price substantially multiple times per year. For basic cable TV ONLY they were charging us over $200 per month! After more than 20 years with them it made no sense to continue to pay more and more while receiving less and less service. The final insult is that they continue to bill me even though I timely cancelled and returned their equipment. It's their way of saying thanks for more than 20 years of business. Look at their rating if you are considering using Cox. There are many people with many reasons for giving them only a "2.1" out of a possible "5". read more

I needed to close out my parents' account after they died. I called COX and was assured that if I brought all their stuff to the local store and paid the bill I could close out the account, but still have email access via the web client for 90 days. I didn't have the password but was assured that the store could help me. LSS - they couldn't. I brought them the four pieces of (probably highly outdated) equipment, paid the bill, and was told that I couldn't access the email. I called the main whatever again, was told that I needed better documentation, and went back with an assortment of death certificates and powers of attorney. No dice. Finally they said that I could wait 30 days from that date and I'd be able to reset the password online using my phone # to verify instead of his. His phone was long gone at this point since I'd been nice and not cancelled the cable service until the caregiver moved out. Today was the big day. I went online. Didn't work. Did chat with very helpful person (Davila H, clearly their best and brightest employee based on my experience). They were ultimate able to reset the verification to my phone and I set up a new password and was able to log in. Success?!?? Not so fast because it told me that the account no longer existed. Tried multiple times. Guess I'm out of luck. I suppose if we owe anyone money they'll find us and if his friends want to contact him perhaps they can use an Ouija Board. So I feel like I was lied to by the people that you call and the people at the store. Is it possible to give less than zero stars??? read more

So with many people working from home. In June, Cox decided to punish entire neighborhoods for "excessive usage". In some states, they dropped the Mbps from 35Mbps to 10Mbps, and locally here in San Pedro California I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same. I had always wondered why my internet would go out around 1am, and when I called the customer service line and waited for 15 minutes just to speak to a representative-she told me the best idea would be to "upgrade" my router. It's wild that as many of us are working to keep employment, service providers won't even make that an easy for you as you have to wait for when your WiFi decides to start running again. I can't wait to move. Cox is an insidious corporation. read more

Cox Cable--A Tale of Two Companies I recently moved one mile to a new house in San Pedro, California (the Port of Los Angeles). Both locations are covered by Cox Communications Cable so I felt that moving my service would be simple. I arranged with Cox to have my service transferred to my new address, but when the Cox installation person came out, he informed me that the Cable Box on the telephone pole was over-subscribed, and that they would have to install another--or larger--cable box before I could get service. Okay, larger box! One month later, no new cable box had been installed. Despite repeated efforts, the Cox service representatives could not give me any information about Cable Box installation on the telephone. Finally, I went to the Cox Communications office in Rancho Palos Verdes where they finally told me the true story. As it turns out, the company that installs cable boxes on telephone poles for Cox service is a completely separate company; they are not a part of Cox Communications. In fact, they have an antagonistic relationship with Cox Communications. It not just that I cannot contact this company--Cox can't contact the company either! Therefore, I do not have cable service or any hope of getting cable service since Cox seems unable to get the company that needs to do the work to actually do the work. This is the ultimate Catch-22. One cannot get Cox Cable without a cable box, and Cox can't install a cable box because that's not their job. Catch-22! The fact that the people who do install the cable boxes don't get along with Cox is just icing on the Catch-22 cake! I want to keep this short. This is my unsolvable Cox Cable problem in a nutshell. read more

I was very pleased with my experience with this Cox location. Previous reviews were bad, but the location is close to my home so I decided to go anyway. After working with Cox online to solve our problem, I was told to go to the closest cox store and get a new cable box. I called the Rolling Hills location and a recording told me to leave a message. I let them know my name and account number and told them we needed to pick up a new box. When we got to the store, there was no waiting. I gave my name and he had my new unit ready immediately. I worked with Bruce and he was very professional. The whole transaction took 5 minutes. This location is now staffed by Cox Corporate office and I recommend them highly. read more

I live in the Pt. Fermin area and have had Cox Internet for a while. There are constant interruptions in service, almost daily. Today, it's down again with an estimated time of 6 hours until restored. I signed up because of the lightning speed they claim to have but the constant outages are not worth it. Cox fails constantly. In March my TV service went down on a Friday morning and after spending a ridiculous amount of time on the phone with support crawling around unplugging stuff, restarting, watching the three dots, etc. It would not come back on. They could not send a technician until Sunday, so I cancelled it and had another service (hulu) up and running in a 1/2 hour. They are now charging me $60 for an early cancellation fee. Their service wouldn't work, and I get to pay $60 for that. Totally unfair. If you have an option, do ANYTHING but Cox. read more

Called Cox to cancel my cable and to increase my interest speed. The representative told me that if I cancel my cable and keep my broadband service, my bill will actually increase by 15%, effectively forcing me to to keep the same plan. Because it was after the promotional period ended, 150 Mbps was extremely expensive, but had no choice since the next fastest broadband service was only 18 Mbps (AT&T). Came to the store to get a new cable box since I was forced to keep the cable service and told the rep what had happened when I called the Cox customer service line. They were not only able to cancel my cable, but they were able to increase my speed up to 500 Mbps AND lower my bill by a whopping 40%! Thank you to the staff at the Rolling Hills Cox store! Really limited hours for working people. I rushed home from work on a Friday.to get there at 5:40 (it closes at 6, which is really convenient if you work in downtown LA). No one was there, the doors were locked and no one responded when I pounded on the window. Called the help line and the person was absolutely rude. Recommended that I try a different store and that I was wrong on the hours. Said the store was shutdown on Fridays and I offered to take a picture of the store hour sign and send it to him. He declined and said that the website says only open Mon-thurs. I pulled up the website and read it to him. How rude - he lied. Next thing I get is an email from Cox, with a cancellation of service. Still ten chat room to try to resolve issue. I've been in it for an hour. They apparently are trying to sell additional services to get a replacement box. Super frustrating. Unfortunately Cox has monopoly on the hill unless I go to direct tv. Was just advised that I can get a box if I pay $48 more a month to get an upgraded box. Cox sucks! read more

After couple of years with them for both cable Internet and telephone, I also decided to sign up with home security. That's a newer service they offer and luckily that service is actually really economical end efficient. Overall the entire services they provide are generally reliable. The price point is on the higher side. And you do lose out on Discounts after one year of being with them. But you can always call and try to negotiate a lower rate. It is a little bit annoying that you have to call every year and try to renegotiate rate despite the fact that attends to go up-and-up and up. And you never afforded the same promotions that new customers are. But overall I think that's a lot of telecommunication providers. It seems to be a general practice. Overall, I did find the customer service to be pretty good and would recommend Cox for anyone in pv looking for telephone, Internet and home security. read more

Also if you do not have service you could get information about all the promotions and Services cox offers and set up an appointment to get the services at the location you want. Cox provides fast Internet and cable service and phone service. The staff at this location are extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. I would highly recommend Cox communications. Overall in my opinion you get better service inside of the store. read more

Rachel is awesome. I had issue w/ my installation which almost caused me to just quit & go elsewhere but she owned the error & corrected ALL the errors that occurred. It took some time to get all the details ironed out but she worked with me & for me to put my mind @ ease that they appreciate my business & will be fair moving forward. It was a rocky start considering the out-sourced technician who 1st came out made so many errors but Rachel went above & beyond all my expectations to own those errors & fix each & every one. Cox used to be the best. Customer service is still good . however their tv is bad. Freezes up on you. Deleted a recording and you have to delete again. Only is able to go back like 15 minutes. Direct tv you can go 4 or 6 hours. Alot more to complain about but lets get to internet. My old cox internet was faster then fios i had switched to, new is slower then both. Advertised panoramic house coverage. Nope not even close on my 1900sq ft home. Once again their old wifi was better. Cox got one thing right and why i switched back.
