Round trip to another place that had no parking. I didn't like the fact he took my unlocked phone where I couldn't see what he was doing. Tech repair and auto repair brings up the same feelings of skepticism, am I getting ripped off here? Not Pacific Coast Tech. After getting quoted for the Apple Store $380 to replace the cracked glass over my camera lens I thought I'd try my luck at an off market place. I was originally quoted $50 over the phone and a repair that would take an hour but once I arrived the tech said it was an even simpler $15 fix that he did right there in under 5 min. It was the rare occasion of being surprised by a price that was less than you thought. This place sits in a two story building in the far back of a plaza that includes a Target. The shop is no frills and the service is no bullshit which is how you want it. Sam really seems to know his stuff and is honest about his pricing and what really needs to be repaired. Well, this is sort of an unfair review. My total bill? $0. Yes, zero dollars. I took my 2017 13" MacBook Pro took PCT back in December to attempt a board level repair on a water damaged motherboard. Unfortunately this was not a successful endeavor and I picked up my laptop on March 29th. During the repair, I felt that I was given frequent enough updates as well as why there were delays. Such as waiting on components, etc. I was told fairly early on that the attempts weren't going anywhere, but he could keep trying, which I did allow. The long time between drop off and pick up were completely my fault as well. I have been sheltering due to COVID about 100 miles away from his shop, so I just told him to keep trying until I was back in town. So that is exactly what he did. Would I do this again, knowing what I know now? Well, obviously not, I wouldn't ask him to spend time repairing a laptop that I knew wouldn't get fixed! But yes, I WOULD go back for another repair in the future. In the end, I gave him a $50 tip, even though my machine is now a paper weight... Though he did suggest that I part out the PC on eBay as I could get a few hundred dollars on the various parts of the machine that aren't damaged! read more

I have a 4th gen iPad that we had for a long time, it became an educational tool for my 2yr old daughter helping her learn alphabets, colors and nursery rhymes. I also used it to play lullaby music to help her take longer naps and deep bedtime sleep at night. Unfortunately, one night the screen cracked when we unplugged it and the cable snapped back to the screen causing the glass screen to crack and exposed sharp edges. My daughter would still want to use it but the cracks were mostly on the home button and what holding the glasses down was just an old thin sheet of plastic screen protector. The following morning I tried to get quotes from all neighboring phone repair shops and Sam (owner) was the first to respond with a quote and availability of parts with turn around time for the service. The price to replace the screen seems regulated as almost everyone have the same rate but he can do faster compared to other shops. I decided to go to Sam but that was already around 2pm, I was scared it was too late for him to accept it but he still went ahead and took the unit for repair and told me he will just extend his hours so I can get the iPad back the same day since I use this every night to play lullaby music for my daughter. The shop closes at 6pm but he stayed open until 7:30pm since he was already working on other projects prior to me and needed to finish them first, he said he need 2hrs to fix the iPad. I came back around 6:30pm but the iPad is not ready yet (I came too early, he said come back at 7:30pm). I went out to buy dinner for my family and as I was paying for my food, I received a text message from him that my iPad is ready. I was amazed with the quality of work he did, he even installed a shatter proof screen cover on the iPad for added protection. I love the customer service, he went above and beyond. I tried changing out the cooler in my PC and ended up not being able to power it on so I brought it here. I brought it in and Sam had me leave it so he could diagnose the issue. A day and a half later he called me to pick it up.  I've had it back now for ~a month and have had ZERO issues. It is running better now than when I bought it! He also charged me less than his original quote. I also inquired about him fixing a cracked screen on my phone and while Sam gave me a quote, he recommended I try to have it fixed by insurance first so it would cost me less. I commend that.
