I have a 10 year old laptop with Windows 7. I wanted to download photos from ICloud to laptop so I could save on USB flash drive. ICloud instructions say you need Windows 10 or 11. It took a week to get an after work appointment with Geek Squad. I went to Best Buy/Geek Squad on PCH in Torrance and told them I wanted to have Windows 11 installed on my laptop. The Geek Squad guy laughed at me. He said my computer was too old and it would not be able to handle Windows 11 and suggested I buy a new laptop. So I bought a new computer from Dell. Last week I wanted to give my old computer away. I was told by friends to do a disk wipe and reformat before I give the computer away. I tired and gave up. Since I knew it would take a week to just get the computer into Geek Squad I looked to see other local computer repair places and am I ever glad I did! I called and spoke with Sam at Pacific Coast Tech (2154 Pacific Coast Hwy Ste A, Lomita, CA 90717). He said it would take 2 hours to clean/reset the laptop to factory settings. When I brought the laptop in he asked if I wanted him to load Windows 10 at no charge! Yes, the same laptop that Geek Squad said could not handle Windows 10, Sam loaded it onto. The moral to this story is do not trust Geek Squad. From now on I will take my laptops into Sam at Pacific Coast Tech for all repairs and upgrades. (They work on phones also.) The owner was extremely professional, and not only did he replace my screen in 15 minutes flat with no waiting, he gave me a tempered glass screen protector because the one I had brought with me turned out to be plastic, not glass, and he didn't even charge me for it.
