BEWARE!! Do not hire these unprofessional people. We have used them two times now. First time was flawless in 2014. Now they have new movers. Very long story short, they have an employee who is extremely rude and had a terrible attitude all day, who after asking me for over twice the estimate in charges at the end said "I'm sick of being taken advantage of" after I included my small tip I had left to budget for. He also made sexually inappropriate jokes all day towards me. The cost was over twice what they quoted, they took almost three times the price quoted because they're very slow and lazy. They banged up my beautiful solid maple handmade master bedroom suite and after stating they'd have it fixed, they never did. Then lied to the BBB that they paid me to fix it myself? No they didn't. They even banged up walls in my new house and never came to repaint as promised. They didn't use floor coverings to move in and move out and made such a mess! They did try to rectify the situation by paying me back a little money, but it didn't come close to what they owed us nor did they make any repairs! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! As several have noted they have NO Customer service, and use up-charging tactics. After Manger -Chad- came out to do the assessment on the move he assured me of the move, truck size, movers, and timeline. After contacting 10 moving companies Covered Wagon seemed like the best value for professional services i needed. I was totally wrong! Day one of the move 11/29 movers show up 1 hr late, and before loading one item on the truck, tell me "they brought the wrong truck and the truck is too small for the load." I had already reduced the original load assessment by moving things out prior to Covered Wagon arriving. Thus the original load assessment was now lighter. The movers tried multiple times to reach the manager for resolution as did I, without success. In order to get all my items out of the house (approx 1875sqft), I had to rent an additional 15' Uhaul so I wouldn't be up-charged for an additional truck or extended time for them to load, go unload at their warehouse, and then come back and load the rest of my items from the house. I was assured that they could get everything on a 23' truck and a 15' truck. The movers still did not get everything on the 2 trucks. The movers loaded and unloaded items to get them to fit which took much longer to load, thus extending the move time by hours. Easy way to up-charge the customer. 11/30 -Move in day - Movers show up 1.5 hrs late, which caused me to incur additional cost on my 1-day Uhaul rental. A list of items were damaged along with the wall and floor of my new home. I sent the issues report to the manager Chad and was assured that it would be handled. I have called and emailed almost everyday, since. The last response from Covered Wagon was received Dec.4. I believe they are now screening my calls and have not responding to emails. This company was recommended by Pflugerville Neighbors, so I didn't do thorough homework through YELP and other reviews. Now I see others have experienced the company tactic of quoting and then sending inadequate tools to do the job. So up-charging the customer doesn't look suspicious. They let me borrow a dolly and when they dropped it off, they offered to move a few boxes and they weren't even on the clock! I used covered wagon recently for my move and I can strongly recommend this group. I dealt with 3 people: Paul, the owner; Ken, the lead mover; and Pat, his helper. All three dealt with me in a straightforward manner which I appreciated. In particular I'd like to give credit to Ken and Pat, thanks a lot for helping me move. I was concerned about hiring a moving service because they can make your move much worse than it needs to be if they don't provide a good service but that wasn't the case with covered wagon, I got very good value for my money with this company and would hire them again. It was had to determine which mover to use and the tiebreaker came down to reviews like this and I hope this review can sway more people to use covered wagon and not use another company that might give them a shoddy experience. read more

After doing a lot of searching, I finally settled on Covered Wagon. I needed a two bedroom apartment, and a storage unit full of furniture moves to a house. I was quoted for 3.5 hours, which was at least half the time quoted by other moving companies. We were scheduled for "around 9" over the phone, and the movers called 15 minutes early, letting me know what time they would arrive. They showed up exactly on time, and they didn't start the clock until the paperwork was signed and they were ready to get to work. My apartment had a ton of stuff, if I were doing it myself, my boyfriend and I would have taken all day to load it in the truck. The movers had it done in under two hours. They took good care of my belongings, wrapping up wood in blankets, and wrapping plastic around our electronics. We drove over to the storage unit where they worked some more moving magic. I honestly couldn't believe that they fit everything into one truck! The unloading process was just as speedy though it was obvious the guys were getting tired. Their speed made me value the company even more, because they could have dragged it out to get more money out of us. Every item going into the house was asked about, ensuring that later we wouldn't have to struggle moving bookcases and tv's. They removed the plastic wrap for us-again, going the extra mile. Overall, the whole move took about 4 hours. This was 1/2 an hour over the estimate- but I knew I had a lot of stuff and felt that 4 hours was more than reasonable-it was downright fast. My time is valuable to me. Moving is stressfull and tiring, and in Texas heat just a little bit dangerous. This time I moved, I can put my time into what matters-unpacking my house! If you want a stress free move, call these guys. Ask for Dan and Josh: they worked their butts off for me! And don't forget to offer your movers a cold beverage! read more

Used them to get furniture, hold it for a week, move it again. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Movers themselves are adequate, in that nothing was damaged. Managment is incompetent at scheduling and managing the job. Twice they told us it would be a morning move. Both times ended up being late afternoon. Great with excuses, terrible with managing jobs, expecations. Final price was slightly above the quoted range. Not enough to complain but wasn't made aware of it until the move was done. So one of the movers informs me rather than the manager calling and explaining the situation (which would have probably been excuses anyway). If you use them, don't take managment's comments/updates for face value. Too many other companies that are price competitive and will do the job in a timely manner and not blame everything else (traffic, previous job took longer, truck broke down, had to go back to warehouse, blah blah blah) for why they are terrible. They claim they have been in business for years and know the area. If so, then act like it. read more

After reading the reviews and based on a recommendation from a friend I hired this company to move me from two locations to one. Their bid was considerably lower and my expectations high. Unfortunately they could not keep they appt time and did not give us enough notice. So we rescheduled for following day. One of the team members was a no show at work so they were late again and the substitute worker was anything but a worker. The main guy, Trey, did his best but it just wasn't enough to overcome everything. And the three hour move turned into 11.5 hours!!! Worst of all, I contacted the owner and asked for a partial refund to keep me a loyal customer and he never followed up but cashed the check. Overall not a good situation or resolution. read more

the reviews on here are overrated. everything looked great on paper. I set this move out of 1 apartment and into another with storage in between 2-3 months in advance. have emails to document everything. their execution was poor to say the least. extremely unorganized, especially the owner.they were late! blamed the traffic as if it were his first day to move. the owner schedules more moves than he can handle. good thing i brought my tool box because they certainly didn't have any tools to dis-assemble anything. the moving guys were good and worked hard though. Finding a moving company to agree to move a large gun safe at a reasonable cost is difficult enough, finding a moving company willing to tackle 4 gun safes (2 @ 1150 lbs and 2 @ 850 lbs) is darn near impossible. We did a group buy on these safes and had them delivered to a local gun store where we needed a moving company to pick them up and drop them off at four different locations. Most companies we talked to didn't have the expertise or equipment to tackle this job, and the ones that did obviously knew about the small number of companies who would do it and were trying to get a premium. Fortunately we came across Paul at Covered Wagon. He was up front and honest about what he could handle and what he couldn't handle safely. After sending some photos from the move location to ensure there wouldn't be any surprises we agreed on a price. When Paul and his team showed up it was obvious they knew what they were doing and got right to work. All safes were un-boxed, covered and protected, and then loaded on the trucks without any incidents or injuries to the safe or people. When you think about moving 1150#s of metal it was actually pretty impressive and made me really glad we didn't let our egos get in the way and try to move them ourselves. Covered Wagon did an outstanding job, didn't try to nickle and dime us, and were incredibly professional from start to finish. We have a house moving coming up in the near future and I will most certainly be calling them to handle that job. read more

Damaged a wall. They fixed it, but only after multiple calls. Missed appointments to come back and repair the wall. Dented a stainless steel fridge. Then denied the damage, changed their story and said it was pre-existing damage. Choose another company and save yourself the headache. read more

This moving company is the absolute worst. Stay far far away. Unless you want ex-criminals moving you. They show up in a Budget truck. They run very late. They break your stuff. The don't want to move anything. They leave stuff behind. They move SLOW as hell. Broken furniture, broken promises. I've never used a mover who didn't use the estimate as the actual price, and their actual price was grossly more than the estimate. The movers weren't particularly careful, and we found several scratches on the furniture. One piece was broken, and Paul has been quite dodgy about getting it fixed. read more

1.5 hours late for 9am reservation. Paul kept telling me they were stuck in traffic but the movers were calling and telling me they hadn't left yet, so someone was lying. Paul finally yelled at me to stop calling dispatch (I had called about 4 times before they showed up at 10:30). When movers came one was excellent but two told me they were brand new. We were in a massive hurry because the late start meant we only had 30 minutes to use the freight elevator. Like other reviewers said, they tried to minimize trips by piling fragile things in a moving cart and carrying heavy things solo and banging them into the walls. They charge a two hour minimum and want to get it done in as little time as possible (my move took 1.5 hours). Some speakers no longer work and at least one bag of clothes is missing, although I assume it was dropped rather than stolen. There are some gashes in the floor in the new apartment that my landlord says weren't there before the move, but who knows. Paul said they would bring me wardrobe boxes but the movers said they never got that message. It seems like Covered Wagon responds to every negative review by calling the customer high-maintenance and neurotic, but the facts are what they are, and there are plenty of other local moving businesses at the same pricepoint to choose here in Austin. It's been 15 days since the move and looks like they didn't give me COVID, so 2 stars. read more

Would not recommend. On moving out day, the movers lost the head board and footboard to our daughters beautiful bed. The owner never called to apologize or offer to pay us for them. I have had a couple experiences with moving companies before but this was by far the worse. I used this company because I was offered $300 moving fee with my new apartment. The only thing I can say is that Paul and his movers are nice people, but it negates their capabilities as movers. First they showed up with a SMALL Budget rental truck which did not fit my stuff requiring two loads and MORE time. Also 3 men stood around attempting to take apart improperly a treadmill despite me offering instructions on how it was moved previously or the manual. The treadmill was also improperly installed. The company made a second attempt to fix the treadmill, but still did not get it right. Finally I had a service man come out. He simply had to tighten 4 loose screws at the bottom of the treadmill. Paul did pay for the service man to come out after the poor attempt of his company to assemble the treadmill twice. However it was highly inconvenient and required time off from work AND overall a significant hassle. I had several things broke during the move. A box of glasses was absolutely shattered. Found upside down and under about 4 boxes. It was labeled "glasses fragile". Throughout the aftermath Paul was very nice, but in general I just wished he had better movers and things were done right the first time. The move took way longer than it ever needed. In the middle of the move, the movers also left my job in order to complete another job. Apparently they under estimated how much stuff I had, however I was never asked to give a true inventory and they never came to survey how much I actually had. I have worked with movers before, and have had multiple quotes from movers so I know how they should operate. It seems like they simply did not want to come by because they were so far away in Round Rock, however they had made a contract with an apartment complex in South Lamar, so its likely that many customers would be located south. Company also charges 3% for credit card charges FYI. read more

I had gone online for a quote, and they were the highest. So I read reviews on all and Covered Wagon had the best. So I went with them. I had to call them the fist time to get the quote. Then 3 days before the move I had to call to make sure we were still on for the move. I was told the movers would be at the house between 12:30-1:00. They arrived @ 10:30, normally this would be fantastic if I didn't have a 3 hour drive! So late start the two movers were fantastic at their part, however the truck was too small for all my items. They kept receiving calls as if I was the one that miss judged the size on the load !!! I Had 2 leave a lawnmower, ladder, some garden tools on the curb as they would not fit. Also my original quote had a small fridge and a large fridge I left the large one too as it would not fit either. So several hundred dollars of my belongings I no longer have and a few scratches O well Move on. read more

They were very professional, on time and even helped tape the boxes shut. I highly recommend these guys not only for the great value, but the amount of service that the movers themselves provided. I have used these guys as my movers twice in the last year and will be again in a couple weeks. They've always done an awesome job. The first time I moved Trey and Charlie were incredibly fast and efficient the second time Charlie and Kenneth did just as great of a job. The guys have always been professional and courteous as they've moved me. I moved from Round Rock to the Domain and then vice versa and each time the guys were able to do it in under two hours. With the rate they charge compared to other companies and the quality of their work I have no reason to try anyone else. I have used covered wagon 3 times in the past 4 years. Moving from house to apt, apt to apt and apt to house. They did very well and with extremely bulky and difficult master bedroom furniture. They stayed motivated and aware of the time. I was very impressed by Charlie's ability to stack the truck efficiently. Daniel was able to speedily move the biggest items with ease. Edited/updated after speaking with the owner: Overall, we did not have a great experience. After our very sturdy bed collapsed a couple of weeks after moving (it was not screwed in even though the movers told us our bedroom furniture was good to go), we moved the mattress & box springs aside to see if maybe something had broken or a screw was missing. We were shocked to see that *all* of the screws were missing. Nothing had been screwed in & the screws had either been taken or lost. This was beyond upsetting to me as aside from hurting us, this could've hurt our little one very seriously. Aside from this, we had a couple of other issues I won't get into here, but it just was not the kind of experience that inspires confidence or future referrals. I will say that while dealing with Paul and Chad (for the estimate, booking, and follow-up regarding this issue), they are probably what keeps this from being a 1 star review. They are professional and responsive. My issue, of course, is that the actual moving experience was seriously soured by this & a couple of other things that were just not professional. I appreciate the concern Paul has expressed; one just wants to be able to trust that things are being done carefully and correctly during the actual move, too--as the move is the main event.
