Back at Country Kitchen and I must it was another wonderful breakfastexperience. The Granola Pancakes were genuinely the best pancakes I have ever had and they are so unique and delicious. The Portuguese Sausage and home fries is also delicious. The food is unpretentious, and delicious. The service staff are attentive and warm. Such sweet and nice people, truly felt so taken care of. My husband ordered the combo plate with 2 eggs scrambled, that came with your choice of toast or homemade biscuits and gravy, and home fries. He absolutely devoured the plate. The toast was perfect! It was buttered and toasted lightly, came with this strawberry jam THAT THEY MAKE (which was sooo good. I ordered the veggie jumble which has 3 eggs scrambled with home fries, spinach, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers & tomatoes. It also came with a side of toast or homemade biscuits and gravy. Just add salt, pepper, hot sauce.... that's it, it was so filling and satisfying. This restaurant gives me home style cooking which I enjoyed a lot. Was in the area for business so afterwards we looked up places to eat on yelp. We saw it had 4.6 stars so decided to go. The place was quiet and clean so we went on in. The waitress was polite and sweet and got us seated quickly. Coffee and menus and we were set. We both ordered the hobo omelette. The food tasted great and served hot. I've been wanting to try Country Kitchen in Signal Hill for a while and finally made it in for an early morning meeting with a client. Service was great, and the restaurant was clean with a nice ambiance. I ordered the turkey patty breakfast, but unfortunately, the patty wasn't fully cooked and had to be sent back. Even after that, it lacked flavor. Everything else was solid, though. The bill came out to a little over $43, which was okay!!!. Parking was also pretty tight. I might give it another shot and try something different next time, but I'm not in a rush to return. read more

Had Machaca with home fries and corn tortillas. Machaca was full of delicious shredded beef, salsa was fresh and homemade, home fries rich and buttery but fluffy, tortillas sweet and warm. Mom and I had errands in Long Beach which we completed much earlier than we anticipated. Needless to say, we had plenty of time on our hands. "Brunch?" I asked her. "Yes!" She quickly responded. Mom saw a picture of a banana pancake and didn't bother looking at the menu, "I'll be having THAT!" Easy enough. Also ordered an Arnold Palmer for me as well as house coffee black for her to wash the grub down. Overall ambiance is humble. There was nothing flashy or showy about this place. But that's not what we were here for: it really is all about food! COUNTRY FRIED STEAK AND EGGS: I had it with eggs over easy. Steak was seasoned, breaded and fried perfectly. The gravy was a good add to the taste and texture. I didn't get to try the home fried potatoes - I'm simply not a fan, but Mom is, so she happily took 'em off my plate. But yes! My mean was incredibly satisfying! Mom was also happy with her banana pancakes. They were generous with how much she got, so she took the rest home and snacked on it later. FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 5. Staff was friendly and attentive. Service with a smile is always a plus. VALUE: 4. Above average. PARKING: Private lot shared with others. Not an issue on a midweek morning run. OVERALL: 4.75. The sandwhich in the picture is the Farmer's Sandwhich. The egg,bacon and "home fries" was perfectly cooked and I enjoyed every bite. They all you to sit wherever you'd like and they are attentive immediately as you sit. They waste no time in giving you service. It's just pretty ordinary flavor, maybe a little more potato's and meat would help? I love eggs, but I tasted more egg in most bites. I would also love if they had a unique salsa of some sort. I think most people will enjoy it here, but I'm a stickler for biscuits and gravy. The gravy was mid, and the biscuits were mid (as the kids say). Neither tasted like it was made there. I saw pieces of meat in the gravy but it didn't taste great. The biscuits had the texture of Pillsbury canned biscuits with no buttermilk tang. However, I did enjoy that that the scrambled eggs weren't overcooked but the ham chunks and diced onion in the scramble weren't caramelized at all. The sliced breakfast potatoes were somewhat crispy, but seemed like they were cooked much earlier. They were seasoned nicely. I appreciated the mile chunky salsa on the side. Country Kitchen is a great casual and affordable breakfast and lunch spot. I find their portions to be rather large and filling. The last time I came here was to pick up a breakfast burrito ($13). Unlike other places they don't use a lot of potato filler in it. I asked for no potatoes and they gave me a side of cottage cheese instead. The burrito was filled with lots of egg and goodies. You have the option of sausage or bacon. It came with some of their salsa. I did find the burrito to lack in a flavor a little bit but those who don't like too much salt might like it. The lady who I ordered from was really nice and helpful. She also made sure I got everything I needed and the order came out fast. The inside of this spot is smaller but there are some tables and chairs. It's great if you're in the area and looking for a breakfast or lunch place that's easy. read more
