My Husband and I ate at the Cotton Patch in Midland Tx today Sunday April 24, 2022. The restaurant was busy but we were seated promptly. The restaurant was obviously understaffed for the customer load they were experiencing but every one pitched into to help. The hostess brought our rolls while our waitress Leigha A. finished up with another table. Our drinks came promptly and our order was taken shortly after we made our discissions. We both had the Cajun Duo. The blackened fish was wonderful and very spicy just like it should have been. One of my husbands sides come out incorrectly but it was quickly corrected with the right side which was fried okra. When Leigha brought the okra she warned him it was HOT. He was grateful she warned him because the okra was hot and he would have burned his tongue if she hadn't warned him. While there we noticed that the manager Sarah was helping her waitstaff by bussing tables herself so the waitstaff didn't have to. The entire staff was doing everything they could to make our dining experience was pleasant. even though the restaurant was busy both our waitress and the manager took time to visit with us. Although it is difficult to find good restaurants employees in Midland this restaurant is doing a very good job to provide good service to its customers. We will eat there again soon. read more

This is the worst service I've EVER seen for any restaurant. We walked in at 8:25 - it took us 12 minutes to get seated in a nearly Empty restaurant. By the time we did get seated, we finally walked out at 8:50 due to no one even coming by for our drink order. We had 4-5 waitresses walk by us and not even glance our way, much less come by our table. I'll be sure to tell everyone we know never to come here. Your staff is completely worthless and you just lost any potential business we would have given you. The kicker is when we got seated, we asked if they were closing soon and the girl said "you're here so it's fine. You'll get the same level of service either way." Ordered chicken fried steak. Second chance I've given them in 2 months and for the second time it was overcooked meat, terrible breading (taste was good). Felt like trying to chew a rubber boot. Mac and cheese felt like it wasn't "homemade" and more instant but a better brand of instant that tries to hide that fact. Gravy was watery and not creamy whatsoever. Overall quality from a year ago has gone down A LOT! If you haven't been in the past year, but remember it fondly, might wanna rethink going here. Absolutely terrible. Service was good when I called to complain and they offered a coupon if I came in to replace said gravy but why even send it out if you know it's bad in the first place? They knew the exact gravy and they even stated they didn't have the ingredients to make it. If you don't have the things to make gravy, tell that to the customer. Tell them they can't provide gravy instead of some milk powder water that's terribly made. Visited this restaurant on a Sunday evening and I must say we visited at the right time. We were quickly seated upon entering and a server quickly attended us. The waitress was very friendly and outgoing made sure we were well taken care of. We begun by ordering peach teas and cheese sticks for appetizer, the cheese sticks were large and very crispy with melted mozzarella on the inside it was very satisfying. I ordered the cajun duo for my entree which had a succulent grilled blackened tilapia topped with grilled shrimp with crawfish creme topping made for an excellent cajun taste. Got screwed again with carry out. Downgraded my tenders to a basket portion even though I ordered and paid for the full portion (second time in a row they've done this), left out my dipping sauce that was requested, and left out the rolls. By the way, if you order curbside you're supposed to call them apparently, despite the fact this detail is never mentioned anywhere, neither on the online ordering or at the restaurant itself. Despite having a full year to figure out how to handle this literally every other restaurant I've been to in the city has done a better job. If you're vaccinated or just don't give a shit about covid, your best bet is dining in the restaurant. Food is decent. read more

I ordered food from this place for the last time yesterday. Did an online order of meatloaf sauced chicken strips and steak fingers. Show. They present it to me and I start to check the order. Why would I do that? I'll tell you why, because every damn time I order from this place something is wrong with the order, that's why. This time was no different. Chicken strips. Not sauced and no sauce. Pieces looked like catfish chunks. Meatloaf, actually right. Steak Fingers. I open the box and there is a steak, with fries and mashed potatoes. Ordered steak fingers with sweet potato fries and a salad. Got the salad, nothing else, So they spent another 20 minutes getting the chicken strips right and getting some steak fingers. Doing good right? Wrong. I open the steak fingers and I'm not really sure what I'm looking at. I ask the people behind the counter if they would eat this? Their reply was , "I don't eat steak fingers". Well if the first time I saw steak fingers looked like those, I might go vegan. I start to ask for my money back and just go somewhere else, but I've invested too much time in this already. So they make new steak fingers, I inspect them, and I'm on my way. Get home. Everything else is cold. Steak fingers are super greasy, but it's been an hour and a half so we ate what we could. I have given this restaurant the benefit of doubt in the past. Over Priced and took forever to get. We went to the Cotton Patch and were seated right away. They took our drink order and delivered our drinks right away. Then they took our dinner order. After waiting 1/2 hour and being served drinks twice, we finally received our dinner. The waitress keep on saying we are slammed with orders. Looking around the round, we concluded that it had people seated in about 1/3 of the restaurant. I was shocked when they put my order down in front of me. The crispy fried catfish order had three pieces of fish that looked it was catfish nuggets. The fried okra was half full in the cup and so was the baked squash with a few french fries for $11.99. I could understand if this was a lunch special. Went home hungry! We were regulars before the remodel and received normal portions. We also heard that they were out of potatoes at 7:30pm on a Saturday night and several other items as the table next to us tried to figure out what they did have to eat. Upon leaving several people were waiting to be seated with about 75% of the restaurant empty. After giving a bad review for Cotton Patch Cafe, we received an email (with my permission) from management stating that they were truly sorry for our bad experience and an offer for a dinner for two and appetizer. My wife and I took them up on the offer and went back today for lunch. The server was Bryan M. and he without knowing about our previous experience, was very friendly and efficient. We both ordered the catfish after a queso appetizer. The catfish and sides were great and Bryan kept our drinks full without us having to request it. The manager personally stepped in to make sure we were not charged, although we still left the same tip we would have at full price. To say the least, our experience was very positive and we will certainly be back again soon. Thanks Cotton Patch for making it right! read more

When we received our food everything was cold, every plate at the table was cold we had a table of 7, one persons burger was cold and super soggy like it had sit for a long time. Beware! Haven't been here in while so thought we'd give it shot.... Wife had the salmon and I ordered the New York Strip medium rare. As soon as the waitress set my meal down you could smell the oder but I thought it could be the broccoli. But after cutting it and taking a bite I spot it out into a napkin definitely bad meat I when the waitress came back I asked her smell it and she promptly picked it and disappeared to the kitchen. She came back out a good 5 minutes later and said they were cooking another one? I declined! With all this going on my wife was no longer comfortable with her meal. After receiving our bill they were nice enough to remove the steak but charged me for my salad, a tea and my wife's Salmon... On the way out I asked to speak to the Manager who admitted they just threw away a bunch of the steak because they were spoiled! Well at least hopefully no one else will get sick. Good god the service was terrible. We asked for another basket of bread pretty immediately after being seated (since we were four people and there were four rolls, it didn't take long). We asked over and over during the whole meal (before and after the salad round, another reminder as she brought out the entrees). While we remained polite and conscious of seeming nagging, it was pretty annoying to see several other tables receive bread while we kept getting sorry excuses like "They're baking more and it will take a while," "they need to brush butter on it before I bring them out," and "all the other waitstaff took the bread before I could get you one." We finally received some underbaked rolls halfway through the entree round (you think I'm kidding -- they were shriveled, white, and powdery. Looked like they weren't properly defrosted and were taken out of the oven too quickly.). It took her so long to do everything. We wanted to purchase a gift card, and she initially gave us the wrong information. She said the restaurant had to mail it to you. We said that didn't sound accurate and asked her to verify with someone else. She came back 20 minutes later and conceded that the restaurant has gift cards in-store that they give immediately upon purchase. Yeah, thought so. Even coming back with the check took half an hour. And she was too incompetent to apply a second coupon (we had done it multiple times before. If your system doesn't allow both on one ticket, then split the ticket down the middle, two entrees on each. It's not hard). There were also hiccups with the food, although evaluating the experience in its entirety, it paled in comparison to the awful service. Food took an eternity to arrive. We waited for ages for our entrees. My father and my sister both ordered steaks, and both were overcooked. After waiting so long for their food, they had to nibble on their sides while they waited for their steaks to be properly redone. Meanwhile we were almost done eating when their steaks came out again. And it was my father's birthday no less. Tsk, Cotton Patch. The exterior of the salmon was salty beyond belief. The outer crust tasted like pure salt. The fish itself was tender and fatty, but it was ruined with overseasoning. The chicken tenders were solid though. The chicken meat was tender and moist, and the breeding was just the right amount of crunch without being greasy. This was our first visit to the Cotton Patch and was recommended by a friend in Midland. The place seemed packed when we arrived but we were seated within ten minutes. Our waitress was at our table when we arrived to take our drink orders; we also opted for the fried green tomato appetizer (this is the South, after all!). For entrees, two of us chose the Chicken Fried Steak (Southern all the way!) and one the Baja Fish Tacos. Drinks arrived promptly, followed by the fried green tomatoes. The flavor of the tomatoes was tart as to be expected. They were fairly thick-sliced with a tasty breading which wasn't too thick; ranch dressing accompanied. So far, so good. The entrees came as we were finishing the last tomato--good timing! The CFS's had the proper amount of breading but the meat was lacking in flavor. Once cut, however, the breading separated easily from the meat, indicating that they most likely went through the wash and flour only once; twice is the standard. Not best CFS I've have but certainly not the worst. The loser of the evening was the tacos. The fish had an off-taste from which the spicing further detracted. Our friend could only take a bite or two before asking for the plate to be removed; she was not asked if she would like a replacement or the plate compted. Would we return? Yes, we'd be willing to give them another change; after all, everyone has an off day. So don't let the negatives in this review dissuade you from trying the Cotton Patch. Let me be completely honest with you: Cotton Patch is THE WORST restaurant you could ever go to in Midland. Not only did it take over 30 minutes to get our food (and the place wasn't even *that* busy!) but we witnessed rude waitstaff in action (they completely forgot a customer's to-go order, refused to fill up a to-go tea and basically poured what she had in a cup, etc.). When we FINALLY got our food, it was lukewarm (at best) and the mashed potatoes were not cooked thoroughly (read: rock hard). I didn't think it was possible to have a sorry restaurant in two different cities (the one in Lubbock is not worth going to either), but apparently this is a trait that all of their restaurants possess. read more

Took my kids to eat here last night because, for some reason, they like this place. We were sat down and after the waitress got our drink and food order, we didn't see her much. I ordered an appetizer because the kids were hungry. All the other tables had bread brought out to them. I kept trying to get our waitress' attention and she kept dodging our table. One time, she looked at me from across the restaurant and yelled an apology for the wait and I had to yell back to ask for a drink refill and some napkins because we had nothing at our table. She did everything she could to avoid actually coming over to our table. The other waiters and waitresses acted like they couldn't see us at all. When I finally got her to come over to the table to see if maybe she could bring us some bread (my 5 year old was HANGRY by this point), she acted like we were just a huge pain in her ass and a complete inconvenience. Since we weren't welcome there and they didn't appreciate the business (not to mention the food was cold and the kids couldn't even eat the mac and cheese because it was so gross), we certainly won't be back. I would like to know why we were treated that way. My kids were well behaved, and, despite everything, I was polite and kept my cool. I am a visitor to Midland, spending time with my big sister and her family. We went to Cotton Patch for dinner one day and I must say honestly that the food was not superb. I ordered a chicken fried steak with steamed veggies and sauteed mushrooms. The first problem was that the food was not hot enough, just a little warm which really bothered me, it hindered the freshness of the food. Secondly, it did not have significant taste, nothing special about the meal that would make me want to return. However, the portion sizes were good enough for the price. So I have always loved the food when i traveled to east Texas needless to say i was so excited when i saw that Midland had one I went for dinner the first time it took 1 hour to be seated 15 min for drinks and 45 for appetizers so after wating yet a nother 20 min and no food we talked to manager and explained we could no longer wait he asked us to please come back and dinner would be on him. 1 week later we went back the manager Will sat us right away and took our order our drinks came quickly and so did our appetizer again they where great. First time visiting the Cotton Patch and I must say I was underwhelmed. We decided to start off with the jumbo fried mushrooms and replaced the honey mustard sauce with ranch.
