I ordered the protein salad because I wanted something healthier. Not worth the money. Barely any kale. More like a chopped salad doused in a weird honey mustard coleslaw sauce. When I said no sauce. Substituted the chicken for the bison burger. It was super salty and just over processed. No gamey bison flavor at all. I also ordered the truffle Brussel sprouts. Again very salty and over priced. Hadn't been here in awhile. Just kind of fell off of my radar. Came in to a revamped menu with plenty to choose, from salads, to chicken lollipops and of course the BURGERS! When you walk in there are no menus an you have to wait until your up at the register to decide why you want while people wait on you from behind. Very inefficient! The fries came out 15 min before the burgers did so they where cold by the time the burgers where here. The told us where to sit. Just a bad experience wouldn't recommend read more

Hanging lights made of wired fence material- interesting. DO NOT, do not order the chicken tenders- were very hard and super dry. On the other hand the double bacon burger with sautéed onions was delicious! The buns, both top & bottom were not warm at all. In fact the lower bun was felt cold. I'm familiar with Hopdoddy as I lived in Austin back in the day. We haven't had a bad experience here. Wish they would bring some of the local beers Austin makes on draft but that's another story. We had the primetime burger and the patty melt. Which was way too much food. Everything was seasoned just right. And the fresh cut fries? Crispy and not over salted. Service was good and welcoming. When asked questions, the cashier was very helpful and gave personal preferences, which I love. We went here when visiting the Midland Rockhounds and I was fearful of choices. Decided to go based in reviews and was not disappointed. Great burger spot that is unique and different. We will definitely return. Loved the ambiance and decor from high tables, lighting, the bar, to booths. We had the Buffalo Bill, the Good Night/Good Cause, Biddi Biddi Bun Bun (their monthly special- um get it!), sage and hot honey sweet potato fries and regular fries. The meal was not great with the exception of the beer. You can't go wrong with the beer. The Nashville chicken sandwich was hot but not Mexican Hot. The chicken tasted good. Stopped by this joint on my way through town looking for a good burger and decent beer. Stepped up to the counter and the cashier walked me through the ordering process. They're cashless so come prepared. Seating is...kinda odd. You're given a table assignment but the numbers aren't easily seen from the registers. Food came quickly but I was still waiting on my beer. I asked my server about it and he said it was coming from the bar, but quickly ran back to the kitchen, rather than following up on it. By the time it came (in a giant frosty goblet), I'd already finished my burger and was grazing on my fries. Speaking of the beer: it was fine. Not great, but fine. They had one local beer on tap (well, two if you count Shiner). But their display of 'craft beers' included the classics microbrews "Coors Light" and "Michelob Ultra." I'd come to Grub Burger in Midland a while back with my cousin for dinner. I thought it was a cute concept and was kind of surprised when I learned that they are a chain restaurant. I thought the set up was very hip, urban if you will... especially for Midland. But then again - chain - so it isn't exactly original I guess. First time I got the California Chicken sandwich. It tasted alright, but the bread was kind of stale, the chicken breast was dried out and the sweet potato waffle fries were not crisp. They were almost under cooked. Although when I had them the second time those were same so maybe that's their way of making them. They have all this fanfare about their Milkshakes, so I ordered the most basic: a Vanilla shake. OK... I've had A LOT of Shakes and this was borderline disgusting. I couldn't drink it. I didn't even have the right consistency! This was almost like an already completely melted shake, but it didn't even taste like one. I let them know! They offered me one of the fancy ones... I got the Mint Chocolate chip. I should have known better because I don't particularly care for that combination of flavors. To me, however that was the best option. Anyway, the shake came. It was very pretty. I took my first sip and nearly choked! Half of the shake it seems like was made with the mint chips and chocolate chips. You had to chew every single sip. Do you think I learned my lesson?! Second time was last week and they were having some kind of Lent special, so I got a Shrimp Po Boy and a King Cake Shake. The sandwich... well, I don't know why the shrimp was tossed in Buffalo sauce but it was an OK Sandwich. The fries were again under cooked as I'd mentioned earlier. The shake was pretty! Then I took a sip! What in the world! Why are there chunks of King Cake in the shake?! Ugh... the consistency of the actual shake wasn't like what a milkshake should be. And then with all those chunks! The actual taste wasn't bad, but I couldn't with all the bread in there. Didn't finish it. I have had several cheaper, way better tasting shakes almost anywhere else. Y'all need to take lessons from like Sonic, McDonald's, Steak n' Shake, Jack In the Box, Johnny Rockets... really anyone else, on how to make a shake! read more

I can eat a hamburger three times a week. After a good taco, its my next favorite 'quick' meal. I went to Grub every couple weeks and was excited to try this new restaurant with more of a brew pup feel. The menu has changed and the burgers looked amazing. What a disappointment! I had the burger with green chili and bacon. The bun was dry and the burger itself was flavorless. Nothing had any spice. Its hard to make something with a chili and bacon bland, but they did it. The patty was literally half as thick as what Grub served. Truffle fries were also a bummer. Soggy fries that were absolutely coated in parmesan cheese. One note flavor. We ordered a few burgers and the nacho fries and I loved the nacho fries more so. The drinks were a bit pricey so we opted out. We flew into Midland on Christmas Eve and stopped for burgers before traveling to a nearby town to visit family for Christmas. Many restaurants were closed, so we were grateful to find Hopdoddy not only open but also offering GF beef with the option of lettuce wrap instead of a bun! The service and food were fabulous.
