I have driven by this place several times when I had to go to Odessa "on bidness" but never stopped to eat here.....until today. This is one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. Big, fresh and juicy. I am angry with myself for taking five years to finally stop here. Talk about wasted time!!! Best idea is to park your car, go to the window and order. They have a drive through, but because they make their burgers fresh when you order, you may sit there a while. However, it's worth the wait. But I'm a fan now, and I shall return!!! read more

As I pulled into the parking lot I could practically hear the chorus to Ain't That America in my head. Though much has changed over the years and this stretch of South Grant has seen its better days, it is the traditional drive-in like Watt's that were the epitome of small town America. Being a bit of a traditionalist I'm a big fan of getting a burger from a classic drive-in and foregoing the epidemic of the burger chain of the suburban strip mall. Other than the decline of the area surrounding it, Watt's looks as though it has been sealed in a time capsule the last forty or fifty years. I can't help but think of the scene in the movie Friday Night Lights where the players are being treated as celebrities at the local drive-in and think how if this actually did occur in real life that it surely would've taken place right here at Watt's. It had probably been twenty years since my last burger from here, but it was exactly as I remembered and expected. My 1/2 pound cheeseburger with the hand formed beef patty was well seasoned, flavorful and cooked just right. Add fresh produce and gooey American cheese between two buttery toasted buns and that's what the classic drive-in experience is all about. The crinkle cut fries could've used some help though and left me wishing I would've given the onion rings a shot. This burger stand is truly a classic hold over from yesteryear. I only hope that it can continue to remain unchanged for the next forty or fifty years. read more

Most confusing place ever just avoid it!! Got in drive through line waited 45 minutes to find out nobody took my order on the other side had to wait another 30 minutes for a hamburger!!!! There is no parking except what appears to be some covered parking but is actually the drive-through. Seriously the food can't be that good at this point I'm leaving without my food because a $10 cheeseburger is just not worth it!!! I would like to update this as I was leaving they called me over and gave me a free cheeseburger meal. The cheeseburger itself was really good and I do understand everybody has a bad day if I lived in Odessa I would probably give them another shot. We heard about this place while on vacation in Arizona. We decided to try it today and let me say they take the hamburger to the next level. It was delicious and managed to fill me up (when it seems like almost nothing does since I am pregnant). The people were so friendly as well. I have driven by Watts Burgers hundreds of times over the past years. It's always congested with diners at lunch. Well today I stopped at 11:00 am. Just opened for the day and got a parking spot under the awning. I was told I was already customer number 6. I ordered a cheese burger with mayo and all the vegies. It took awhile but soon the called or number 6. I paid the $5.85. WOW! A huge old fashioned style burger. I can't see how one could have finished an order of fries, tater tots or onion rings with the big burger. Not just a huge burger...but a huge TASTY burger. I'll be stopping on a regular basis on my way to I 20. All I can say is FANTASTIC. read more

First time here. Looks like a little hole in the wall burger joint, Very old school. The lady at the window was really nice, she recommended what burgers are the most popular ones the locals order. We ordered the 1/2 Pound Combo with cheese in the first wondow, then drove around to the other side of the building to pay and get our order. It took 12 minutes to get our food. Love the atmosphere. Vintage Americana! I didn't get a chance to try the burger, but my friend did and he really liked his. He devoured it in under a minute. Good sign! :) I got the catfish, and was disappointed. It was cooked well, very flaky...but had a fishy taste and smell...and was over salted. Really over salted. Like I couldn't finish it over salted. That said...I'm thinking I just hit it on a bad day because the place was packed! Had to park in the next lot over and everything. Definitely a local joint where workers come to get their lunch. Always a good sign. Hope my next experience is a bit better. I'll give it 3 stars now and update it next time if I feel the catfish still isn't up to par. For now...it's a benefit of the doubt 3 stars. read more

You want old time good food, go to Watt's. I know over the years I have gone here at least 50 times, they have never gotten my order wrong or left something out of the bag. You will like whatever you order, be aware that they do charge a couple dollars more than the Dairy Queen down the street for a burger. The burger is what they are famous for, and it is above average for sure, but mostly because of the fresh fixings I had on mine and the spicy fries. The meat leaves something to be desired as it kind of tastes bland and like it's mixed/cut with something else, but still pretty good. I have only tried the cheeseburger and the spicy fries, which are waffle cut and great as long as they are crispy and not soft and poorly fried like my last visit. They are seasoned, but not spicy that I could tell. I'm trying to write this without taking into consideration how hot me and my truck are after sitting in line here for OVER 40 MINUTES for 1 cheeseburer and an order of spicy fries. Understand that this is only my second trip here and I do like the food, but be prepared to wait. Although it was 12:20 when I pulled into the drive through, there were only two cars in front of me in line and only a couple more parked in the spots out front waiting. No way it should take that long for my one burger and fries...maybe call ahead and order to solve this problem, I know I will in the future. All said...I will return. Thanks Watt's! read more

Best burgers in Odessa, and probably the Permian Basin. The spicy waffle fries are insane. Just a good old fashioned drive in burger joint that you don't see any more. I ate a double double from there once and I could barely finish it. The food is a great value. If you're passing through town, drive the few extra blocks from I-20 and try this place out. read more

Good eats. Decent price. Amazing stand. I like this place. Food: great. I ordered the 1/2 lb. burger combo ($7.75) which comes with the standard fries and drink. At this price, I was skeptical; even in the Midland/Odessa area, I can find better prices on a combo meal. When the food was ready, I was in shock. The burger had a six-inch diameter, at least. The burger patty was essentially the size of a hamburger steak, and tasted better than most--good char on the outside, juicy on the inside--and the bun was toasted to perfection. This is a cookout burger, essentially. Big patty, light condiments/lettuce/tomato/onion, and a sizable bun. With those powers combined, I had a solid, solid burger. The pack of fries that came with it was no slouch, either. I had a few soggy inmates, but most of the population was crispy. And they give you a lot of them here. The portion was almost as big the burger. You won't leave hungry here, that's for sure. The drink was also huge--32 oz. of your favorite Coke. After inhaling the meal, I realized that $7.75 was a bargain for the amount of food/drink you get. The stand is as the previous Yelpers described it--vintage Americana. I watched "American Graffiti" after my meal here, and it complemented it well. It's an honest burger stand with great employees (when I was there, they knew the regulars by name). It has the feel of an Odessa institution. This has been the best burger experience that I had in town thus far (Betty's Dixie Burger in Midland, may it rest in peace, had a similar feel). I come from 6 hours away and I pulled up at 8:30 on Monday to be told they were closed yet they were still busy helping people. You'd think if someone comes to your business and says they drove 6 hours and missed you that they'd go ahead and help you. Nope not this place. Watt's and White House are by far the best burgers in town. Watt's has a distinctive taste and smell that anyone from Odessa will know right away. One of the last old fashioned hamburger joints in town. A single cheeseburger with bacon and some spicy fries will always make my day. read more
