The first time I went to Michael's I was impressed with what I had ordered. Everything wasn't fresh. They made their own patties with real ground beef. Then Covid came along. I get that they needed to cut back on the quality until they gained some money lost during that time. Now it's been over four years and unfortunately they are still using cheap ground beef to cook their King Kong burger. And use hockey pucks for their smaller burgers. Long story short... it's better and cheaper to eat at McDonald's. At least you know you're getting real junk food. Two stars for the nice container that I will reuse. read more

I used to come here as a kid and loved their food, however since maybe 2 years they changed their meat and significantly raised the prices. I gave 3 stars because their onion rings are still very good but there is other places for cheaper better tasting burgers in midland. Their burgers are delicious! Made to order, over real firewood grill. They are a little pricer than most but are made with fresh ingredients. And they have a vegetable/salad bar where you can add whatever and as much as you want to your burger. read more

I've been eating at Michael's since they first opened in their original location. Yep, I was just 6 years old! It's still a family favorite and I can't wait to bring my husband to try it this summer! Went in for lunch as I had never been, but seen many times. Very big inside. Large, varied menu. Big salad bar. I had the brisket plate. I wanted burnt or fatty ends, but the lady taking the order didn't know what that was and she asked another and they didn't know. So, I got sliced brisket anyway. For me, it was dry. That's what happens when all the fat is trimmed off or it's cooked too long. Flavor was there. And the portion was large, 4 big pieces. Honestly, the place is quite expensive and the food is of a much lesser quality than one would expect. I ate here many years ago and was not impressed (long before Yelp). In other words, there's no original flavor or style except the wall decorations. They do make crazy plate sized burgers though. Service... before I could even look at the menu, the cashier was asking what I wanted. The cook announced over the intercom my order was at "gate 2" (seriously). For an overall great burger experience this is as good as I have found in Midland. This is the 2d Michael's in Midland and is a great place to fly solo or jet in with the whole family. Like the first on Illinois this Michael's has plenty of great airplane photos and some giant models hanging from the ceiling. For real airplane buffs you have to read the story taken from the Midland newspaper that they have up in the conrer wall regarding a pilot who saw his photograph up on the wall some 30 odd years after owner Micheal had taken it. The food is great, the portions are Super-sized.-I swear you can feed a family of four on one order of Tots! The decor is great and the staff is friendly! What else can you ask for!??! read more

Ok. I'm from Dallas and I travel. ALOT. I was in midland and decided to try this place out. At first I didn't get it. An airplane hangar? Why are there all these clouds and pictures of airplanes?? Once you're there you understand a bit. It's a great concept and one that's very popular (think Rudy's style) Of course I order and burger and fries among a few other things. The cashier speaks in code to the cooks which was kinda cool. I sit and wait. And then I see it. The biggest condiment bar I've ever seen. Salsa after salsa. Spicy, like real spicy sauces. Jalapeños, pickles, onion etc. drinks for days. I'm in heaven!! My burger comes and I bury it in spices and assorted add ons. It's great! Juicy and has that just cooked outside on the grill type taste. Fries are crunchy and I dip them in a suicide conglomeration of salsas, rocket fuel and catsup. This place is the real deal and must see. read more

I was conflicted in writing this review. It was not hard to find at all. The building is quite large and so being that I am not from Midland, it was nice that it was easy to find via Google Maps on my iPhone. There is ample parking and so no problem there. All staff seemed to be practicing Covid 19 precautions. I wish that the majority of the patrons were. There is ample seating inside the restaurant. I absolutely love the model planes hanging from the ceiling. There is free wifi available which was very nice. The seating is comfortable. They have booths as well as tables and chairs to accommodate any size party. The ordering process was simple enough. I love the idea of picking my order up from an airline boarding gate. They had much to choose from. I decided on a hamburger with lettuce, tomato, mayo, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. I also had a side of onion rings. Unfortunately, there was not a lot of taste to the patty itself. The vegetables were fresh and I did enjoy the bun. I was not a fan of what appeared to be shred cheese rather than sliced. The fried egg was tasty and cooked to perfection and seasoned well. However, the onion rings did not have much flavor to them. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant including the restroom was clean and comfortable. I would come back and maybe try something different next time. As I said, they have a pretty extensive menu. I might suggest maybe paring down the menu a bit to be excellent at what you do serve rather than ok at a bunch of things. I'd love to see the addition of milk shakes to the menu. We went to Michael's after reading the reviews on Yelp and we weren't disappointed. As we were just passing through Midland, I can't profess to know what else is out there. The decor is great for kids. They'll love looking at the planes and photos. There are plenty of high chairs and this place is definitely family friendly. The service was friendly and they were happy to explain things to out-of-towners. Essentially there you can make your own burgers - so you should be able to make them to your taste. There are both vege and meat options. Extras for the burgers include green chillies, jalapeno and various cheeses. We love the fact that you dress your own burger so you can add as many pickles as you like. Yes all the ingredients are pretty bog standard but all were fresh and plentiful. The sauce collection was 7th heaven for hubby who loves a chilli sauce .... I would rate this as one of the best vege burgers I've had in Texas. read more

I was very disappointed. My burger, onion rings and a drink was $18+ without a tip. The burger was average. I have had better at chili's for less. I had a a chedder bacon burger. We were visiting my brother in law and he brought us here for lunch. $65 for 4 adults and a kid to eat at basically a fast food/fast casual joint. $9 for the "chicken basket" which was 2 chicken strips, some fries, and a piece of toast. We thought that would be the better route to go for our son since the kid's meal chicken was $7 for ONE strip and some fries. I thought $2 more would get me more than just one strip, so I was shocked when that was all he got. So this is a place I've been waiting to try. I have driven by it a bunch of times and wondered what it would be like. From the outside, it's just a giant steel building, I later learned.. this is to replicate an airplane hanger. This becomes immediately evident once inside. It's very expansive and open, cool replica airplanes hang from the ceiling.. passenger jets, fighter jets, a blimp etc.. and these are not small.. I actually muttered.. I wonder how much one of those cost.. they looked pretty bad ass!!! It has lots of stations that you can build too your own burger and a large amount of sauces and spices to choose from. The burgers are fired in a cool brick oven thing. So right away everything was cool. The food came and I just wasn't that into it. The tater tots were good. The meat was good.. I was expecting a more juicy and robust flavor coming from that oven. I HATED the bun! Not a fan of sesame seeds at all, and it just wasn't very good.. dry maybe? Or just too much bread.. bleh.. So I ditched the bun and ate the meat. Also.. the music.. it's was golden oldies.. nothing really revved the engine.. I think that a a place like this would have the Top Gun and Iron Eagles sounds tracks playing.. This place is okay. The restaurant is large and the aviation decor is neat and the people behind the counter were friendly. The food however was nothing special. It was good but not outstanding. I ordered the bomber steak sandwich and that thing needs to come with a warning! It was the size of a child. There was no way I could even dream of eating the whole thing. My friend's smoked turkey sandwich looked pretty boring. I will probably try another place in town before I return to Michael's. It is only half a mile or so from the MDD airport, so it is an easy stop if you fly in. read more

Our first barbecue restaurant that we visit in Texas and it was really good. We ordered the 3 meat platter with 2 part ribs and sliced meat. Ordered salad bar and onion rings. The salad bar was amazingly fresh... full of fresh veggies including whole large avocados, big tomatoes, walnuts etc. The dressing selection was a 10+. Onion rings were very tasty,french fries were crispy. Not to mention the casiers & waiters were very helpful and courteous. If you are grabbing a bite for lunch try to make it before 11:30a.m. because it fills up quick. read more
