Hot Shots is definitely a dive bar, but if you're like me, that's what you are looking for…read moresometimes. They got a few pool tables and it's a smoking environment. Like I said, pure dive bar. If you're a smoker, you'll probably enjoy this bar. If not, expect to leave smelling like an ash tray. The only reason I took a star off is because the service there is super slow. Talking to some regulars there, it seems to be a normal thing to expect.

They do allow smoaking, so expect to smell like an ash tray when you leave lol. That is a down side, but the reason for the 3 stars is that the service is crap. They had 1 girl there who was busting out drinks like crazy, but the other guy working was so slow and they give smaller than normal pours for their alcohol. You will only get about a half shot.

I have visited Buffalo Nickel a few times while visiting Midland for work and enjoyed my visit…read moreevery time. It has a nice easy-going, small-town Texas feel to it which is hard to describe unless you've lived in a town like this like I have. The inside is typically nice and chill; an ideal environment to grab a cocktail or two and conversate with a date, coworker, group of friends, whatever. Out of all the bars I have been to in Midland, I think Buffalo Nickel has the best selection of whiskey especially. I am not a huge whiskey aficionado but I have heard from ones that this is the place to go. I am more of a tequila and beer guy and they have everything I want. The unique thing about this bar is that the back patio is smoke-friendly. I am guilty of wanting some nicotine after some drinks so this is a great place for me. They also sell cigars if that is your thing. Cheers!

Wonderful rustic, easy going, relaxed bar to grab an amazing cocktail or two. First and foremost,…read moreit is not a cigar bar, it is a bar that sells cigars! They have a nice selection to grab a couple to smoke on the back patio or to take with you for later. Hubby really enjoy the Crazy Alice, said it was one of the best cigars he's ever had! We sat at the bar and our bartender was very sweet and attentive. Explained the cocktails a bit for us and gave suggestions. The Pumpkin Spiced White Russian caught my eye online so I went with that and hubby had an Old Fashioned. Drinks were spot on so when the bartender said they had a great Espresso Martini I said but of course! It was absolutely delicious!! We highly recommend Buffalo Nickel for a small gathering or date night cocktails.

The reason it missed the 5-star mark with me was our waitress was slow to do everything. Even with taking our drink order. Then our food order. The worst was waiting for my final bill. And then she forgot our takeout box for my youngest. I don't know why she didn't have a greater sense of responsiveness with our party of 3, but it was like this the entire duration of our meal on July 25, 2026. It was super frustrating! The other reason I knocked off a star off was because the towel dispenser was depleted in the lone restroom. I had to flag down an employee with drenched hands. THE PROS I called about 20 minutes ahead of time to reserve a table because I knew this brassiere was on the small side. The lady on the phone was courteous and professional. If you have a hot date, I highly recommend reservations particularly in the evening. This seems like that sort of place. When we arrived, I found free street parking a short walk away. We were promptly greeted and seated. To enter the restaurant, you must go inside the Frost Bank tower's lobby, but to exit there is a door just beyond the bar. This place has beautiful, eclectic decor. The bar area was somewhat rounded and has an easygoing, but classy feel to it. THE FOOD The ambiance is what made this a great mother/daughters brunch date. The food sets it apart from the majority of restaurants in this oil industry town. The have East Coast-sourced oysters on the menu! These are far superior to their West Coast counterparts. I would have opted for these for our app if it weren't for my minions, I mean children. Pigs in a Blanket ($15.00) - yet another appetizer my daughters pigged out on that I didn't get to try. And they said they weren't that hungry! Lies all lies. They looked divine with nicely cooked juicy sausage and everything seasoning on the pastries. Avo Toast ($11.50) - my newly-turned teen daughter and I both had our own. I opted for eggs over easy which were cooked nicely. She oddly chose scrambled eggs for her, but she ate pretty much all of it. Smashed Burger ($17) - my youngest had this and said it was excellent. Nice touch with an American flag planted into the top bun. For the umpteenth time she did not share a fry with me. It is what it is. Mocha latte ($5.00) - my youngest's birthday which I will be missing since she'll be visiting her father is coming up so this was a treat for her. I tried it. Quite good after being thoroughly stirred. 1988 Martini ($18) - pricey but oh so good. The olives stuffed with bleu cheese were not bad. I had to try it even though the thought of bleu cheese kind of turned me off. Lol. Will I return? Of course because I have faith it will be 5 stars next time. Look at the other raving reviews!
