Fun atmosphere and good drinks. Please dim the lighting above the bar. Bad lighting ruins a space.

I have visited Buffalo Nickel a few times while visiting Midland for work and enjoyed my visit…read moreevery time. It has a nice easy-going, small-town Texas feel to it which is hard to describe unless you've lived in a town like this like I have. The inside is typically nice and chill; an ideal environment to grab a cocktail or two and conversate with a date, coworker, group of friends, whatever. Out of all the bars I have been to in Midland, I think Buffalo Nickel has the best selection of whiskey especially. I am not a huge whiskey aficionado but I have heard from ones that this is the place to go. I am more of a tequila and beer guy and they have everything I want. The unique thing about this bar is that the back patio is smoke-friendly. I am guilty of wanting some nicotine after some drinks so this is a great place for me. They also sell cigars if that is your thing. Cheers!

They have a nice selection to grab a couple to smoke on the back patio or to take with you for later. Hubby really enjoy the Crazy Alice, said it was one of the best cigars he's ever had! We sat at the bar and our bartender was very sweet and attentive. Explained the cocktails a bit for us and gave suggestions. The Pumpkin Spiced White Russian caught my eye online so I went with that and hubby had an Old Fashioned. Drinks were spot on so when the bartender said they had a great Espresso Martini I said but of course! It was absolutely delicious!! We highly recommend Buffalo Nickel for a small gathering or date night cocktails.

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, my family and I had dinner here after my niece's dance recital. We just walked in. My daughters and I were first to get there even though my brother said he would probably beat me there. Ha! We ended up getting tables scooted together for 18. Almost half of them were kids and one baby. I enjoyed the food but I could tell the fries were the frozen variety. My daughter's turkey club came with sweet potato waffle fries so she asked me to switch my regular fries with her. I obliged. My beer battered cod was really good. Flaky. Wonderful tartar sauce. And while the cole slaw was a bit soupy, it was delicious. The best I have tried in a very long time. So there are three key things... For large parties a 18% gratuity is automatically added. If you use a credit card, a 3% charge will also be added to your bill. And lastly, they were a bit slow in getting food out to us, but not terrible. I just wish they had brought the youngest kiddos their food FIRST and not last! Maria V. did a fine job other than that. Very kind and respectful and remembered most of our items. At home I make dirty martinis with both gin and vodka, but when I was asked I had to choose just one. Lol. The female bartender did make them really good though. The restrooms were clean. I love the inside with the bird cages over the chandeliers and the rustic feel of the brick walls. We were there from about 6:47 until almost 9 PM. I had to throw this in from the movie "The Last Word": Harriet Lauler: "Do you find any problem in procuring me a disadvantaged youth to mold?" Anne Sherman: "Oh, um, Home Depot is probably getting another shipment in soon. The shelves will be stocked." Harriet: "Sarcasm, the wit of the witless." Anne replies as Harriet walks out of the Anne's apartment: "Condescension, the repartee of the rude." (Harriet stops in her tracks.) continues, "Sorry. Sh... shit. Sorry." Harriet: "No. No, no. Never apologize for speaking your mind." This review was certainly written with Harriet's mantra taking into account.

At first I thought it was whipped cream as you can tell by the picture. As my appetizer I chose the jalapeño soup. I have to say that it was amazing even if it had no real substance to it other than cream of something and jalapeños. I think potatoes would be a nice addition to this soup. For dinner I chose the 8oz filet and I added blue cheese crumbles to the top slightly melted. The steak was cooked perfect and the flavor was nice. The veggies along with it were cooked well with minimal butter which I prefer. My waitress was perfect. She came around just enough and not to much. Nothing bothers me more than to come around so much that I can't enjoy my food. I'm a happy medium kind of guy when it comes to that and she did a great job balancing her other customers and I. Over all my experience was wonderful. I will definitely be dining her again before I leave town.

I am very happy that I found Saint Blaise as they hit all three of my marks for restaurants that I take customers to. Food: The food was great. I wanted to get the steak and potatoes but it was $50+ which I thought was a bit steep for just steak and potatoes. I opted for the blackened salmon which was cooked perfectly with delicious broccoli and mashed potatoes on the side that were also cooked perfectly. The gnocchi had a perfect consistency with a non-overwhelming sauce so also phenomenally done. The two drinks I got: Same Place and Maple Manhattan were well-made with each component complementing each other well and not overpowering one another. If you like tequila and manhattans I think you will be happy. Service: The servers were very attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire visit especially with the waters. Huge kudos! Ambiance: I will say because the inside space is a bit tight and small, having conversation when the restaurant was busy proved a bit difficult but if that is the case they do have seating right outside in the lobby area and having conversations there should not be an issue. I will make sure to be back with customers here!
